camera-flash and flashlight apps - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been searching but unable to get a likely probable answer except the light burned out maybe, but has anyone experienced the back light not working or unable to access light via apps?I just noticed trying to take a pic last night that the light didn't come on,so of course checked all the settings i could think of and downloaded a handful of flashlight apps to test it and none of them trigger the flash light it acts like it is working no errors or force-closures,co which leads me to believe probably light burnt out is this common?also does anybody know any things to check in the system or settings to make sure something didn't get deleted or corrupted .it is weird in the last 2 weeks my USB port stopped working and now the light isn't working ie flash..I did recently flash pimp my ROM and updated to the newest 4EXT RC other than that nothing major has been changed..any ideas please if you can post anything you got to help out it would be great..:crying:
I did try another ROM along with a FULL WIPE formatted system as well. So it doesn't seem to be a ROM issue. But not sure . I don't knowif it is possibly an issue caused by either pimp my rom or 4ext since I am unaware how they are stored in system and if they are wiped during the wipe process.

Sounds like the LED fried. I don't even think they sell replacements for those.

Thanks Estallings ! thats what i thought!!

Thanx for the help on the issue ,i guess my light is fried out.Now I have a bad usb port and a burnt out light so no flash on camera and unable to access via bootloader because of usb ,funny thing is it still charges, so (usb) it partially works .I think it is time to retire this bad boy.

Charging Problem

This problem started with my phone a couple weeks ago. I seem to have problems charging my phone. I cannot charge my phone while it's off. If I plug it into a power source via the cable it turns itself on.
Sometimes it will not charge. It usually happens if I use the phone while it's plugged into something while charging. In the status bar it indicates it is not charging. To make get it to charge the battery again I have to take out the battery and restart the phone. Sometimes I have to do this a few times before it starts charging again.
I've got my phone rooted with CWM and i'm running CM7

I'm not sure. I have a CM7 nightly from 11-16-2011. It was the second to the last nightly that was made for it. It seemed to have less issues then the latest one. But, I've flashed different ROMs available from CWM and the charging issue was still present.
This is what my I have.

i've gotten a replacement fascinate. i forgot i had insurance. neh4pres... do you know where i can a copy of that eh03 radio? every link i've found seems to refer to the same one and that link has been down. i'm itchin to get ICS on my phone now and i can't get that radio.
What radio do you have now? From what I've read you should be fine on ICS with EC09, or the previous one which I can't recall the name of (or EH03 obviously). Earlier ones might work too, I don't know, but I think those three most recent are recommended. Sorry I can't help with a link or anything, I've just got the EC09 one at the moment.

my replacement fassy is completely stock and came with an EH03. does that actually simplify things?
Yeah if you're already on EH03 than I wouldn't worry about the radio. If you get the itch to try out ICS, check out droidstyle's guide, it has everything to get you up and running. I recommend AOKP or teamhacksung's ICS (on rootzwiki).
I'm on ICS hacksung's 6.5 build!!! Yes! Thank you so much for helping this noob!
No problem, THS 6.5 is a great rom!

I am editing my answer because at first I wasn't able to understand exactly what you were asking.but after re-reading a couple of times I am now thinking with the shutdowns and unable to connect your phone to the computer as you stated going in and out ,I am thinking that you might have a similiar problem that i had,and that was somehow i had a broken usb port and it was causing the pins to short together in the usb port and not sure of the pinout but I could see that causing it to shutdown or causing issues connecting .just a theory !!but it is worth taking a look into your usb port on your phone and see if there is something like lint or a piece of plastic cracked in there!again just a theory!!

Hating my S3 lately

So I've getting the no sound+drop signal problem these last weeks where you don't hear anything when making a call and then the phone loses all signal. Looked everywhere online no solution. I really need my phone these days and i am having to use skype to make a call which is total crap. Then today all of the sudden the phone stops recognizing the sdcard out of the blue, also can't seem to find any solution online. I don't want to send the thing to repair because I use it a ton. This is really inconvenient.
Just venting here , sigh.....

I had this issue with my old LG Optimus T P509 T-Mobile.. it was unlocked so I was using it on AT&T.. I never figured out what the problem was but I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one. Which problem you mean, the call issue or the micro sdcard issue? I am running stock 4.1.2 jb and i have orange. The worst is that these problems start on their own all of the sudden with no previous warning. It drives one insane because it's so hard to pinpoint what happened and how to fix it.

Sorry.. The calling issue. I would make a call and it wouldn't make a dial or ringing tone and there was no sound coming from the speaker. This isn't happening on my S3. It was was happening on my old LG phone.. it was running stock 2.3 gingerbread of course, but it was surely mind boggling.

I am sorry but I read the rules and didn't see anything that said that no venting was allowed here, this is a general forum and in most forums general means general chat, venting included, or anything else that doesn't fit in more specific boards. Now regarding your question I didn't do wiping nor factory reset but I did reinstall the Jelly bean ROM I am using, and also I tried reinstalling the modem making sure it was the right one. I didn't do more because I've read in the big "no sound during calls" thread that those methods haven't solved most users' issues so far so seems like a waste of time. Anyway spending my time fixing the phone is my idea of a good time. I've had it for one year btw.

Yeah usually only when a metal case is used does it ever really interfere I suppose.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Possible problems:
1) Wrong modem. Flash one that worked previously.
2) Mobile phone network problems (we tend to overlook this a lot). Contact your carrier and ask if your networks keep going down.
3) Signal interference (maybe some casing, maybe something in your house)
4) Damaged phone (maybe the signal receiver got damaged in a fall)
I've been having similar signal drop issues. Phone shows 2 bars but no data use, no sound when trying to ring out, can't receive a call. If I toggle 2g, signal will spring back to life and data will show. Changed bloody everything trying to resolve it. Orange UK.

[Q] Nexus 4 possible battery issue?

Hello I'm new to the nexus 4 forms. Okay so today I traded my Galaxy note 1 for the nexus 4 and the HTC One x. I was really excited to see the nexus 4 for the first time. Upon looking at it, the screen had 3 cracks in it but the person said it still functions fine. Cracks don't really bother me that much anyway. He also said that it needed a new battery and that the phone can still be turned on/used. When I went home I plugged it in and I saw a flashing red-light. Then a few minutes after I saw the charging icon on the screen. I waited abit more and tried powering on, the battery icon disappeared and I saw the flashing red light again, I left it alone for about 30m+ and when I looked at it I saw the battery icon filling up and down but there was no raise in charge. So I started looking things up. I have tried opening the phone and disconnecting the battery on and off the board, stripping a USB cable with the + and - connections putting it on the battery for 13-15mins plugged into a laptop (I used my playstation 2), and that didn't work. What I then did is take the battery out and plugged in the charger only. I managed to get into the bootloader screen but when pressing start I see the Google word and it just shuts off. Awhile later it just got to the point where when I plug in the charger the red light blinks and stays that way (occasionally I will see the charging logo). I will buy a new battery if needed I just wanted to make sure there's something I didn't try yet, or confirm the battery is the issue. There doesn't appear to be any water damage and everything looks clean inside the phone. I can post a picture of the battery if needed. Hopefully this phone isn't dead and can be working again, I saw afew videos called the red light of death where the nexus 4 was plugged in with a steady red light appearing with no charging at all, mine only flashes so I think that is a good sign. I guess I will plug it in all night when i go to sleep hoping for it to turn on in the morning. I've also already called lg and they have horrible service... Please let me know if there's anything else I can try. Thanks!

[Q] Phone dead after flashing

Hey guys, so i was trying out velocity ROM for the first time. Went through the usual. Clean wipe, flashed ROM + PA gapps and rebooted. Somewhere while booting up, the screen just went dead and would not turn on anymore.
I read up later that ART is the default runtime on the ROM and now i wonder whether PA gapps and ART dont play along.
Is my phone bricked? Any recommendations to fix this?
Thanks!

Nexus 4.
If your is not switching on, or not charging after flashing, its time to say gud bye to it,.coz its been hard bricked... u should replace it vid another... the onyl way to get it back is go to service center and tell them,, that it got dead,, dont tell them that u have rooted or flashed a rom...if its in warranty...
they vll replace vid a new one..

Red light means your battery is discharged to 0%. The charger doesn't have enough power to bump up the voltage. You need to take the phone apart and then do something with the battery contact wires, i think there's a thead here on nexus 4 xda forum.
