Have a strange issue, wondering if anybody else is suffering - when I apply a theme with the Theme Chooser app, everything is good - until I reboot my phone. Upon reboot, the theme reverts back to the standard "system" theme.
Is this normal behaviour? I was under the impression themes would remain between reboots.
No big deal, as I can just set the theme when I boot, but it is a little odd...
No that is not standard. Have you moved the theme to the sd card with the native apps2sd?
I have the same problem with some of the themes I've installed. None are on the SD, yet CM7 reverts to 'System' whenever I reboot. I tried wiping the cache and data for 'Theme Chooser', but no dice.
FWIW, I'm on a Droid 2 Global and this is the CM7 install I have: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=cdma_droid2we

Hey guys i'm running the current cyanogen mod on my mytouch. I just in the past two days attempted to change the theme. once i did i couldn't download anything from the market, nor could i update any of my apps. each time i do it downloads to 100% (or so it says) and then it asks to force close. I've attempted to reboot my phone and change themes. i'm running the system force theme by prash
any suggestions? i'm a huge tecky but i'm new to this phone so any suggestions would help.
thanks for all your help!
I've had similar problems when I played with the themes. CyanogenMod never caused me problems though. If I remember correctly, I did this for another Rom and it worked. Go into recovery, -> Other -> Fix UID mismatches or something like that. (It might help...? I'm not sure) By the way how did you put on prashes theme? Did you just flash a zip file?

Try opening terminal and type:
su
fix_permissions
Then reboot phone.
FYI: Not sure what theme you're using, but sometimes themes break things. I personally don't use them.
I am trying to get the live WallPapers to work and I am having no sucess. I managed to install a Livewallpaper. apk and I can view the livewallpapers already installed on the phone but when I click one I get an error message saying: "The application Live Wallpaper Picker (process.android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" I am rooted, using attn1's rom and can download third party app without adb. Can anyone help?
6/28/10 - Updated to allow LWP in the Sense UI
* This assumes you have your phone rooted and have access to the Clockwork Mod to allow updating your phone with unsigned zip files *
1.) Put the file onto your SD Card in the root directory
2.) Access the Clockwork Mod
4.) install zip from sdcard (option 5)
5.) choose zip from sdcard (option 2)
6.) Click on the file you downloaded and put on your sdcard
6a.) If you run into an error when installing shut off your phone,, unplug it from the USB cable, then reboot it back into Clockwork Mod and start again from step 2
7.) Once done installing, go back one menu and reboot system
8.) Upon reboot you can now choose Live Wallpaper in the wallpaper options
*Issues*
The only issue that I know of at this time is you have to use the settings/personalize/lock screen wallpaper option in order to change the lockscreen wallpaper
If you have any issues let me know, I tested this on a fresh clean stock rom flash then updated to add in the LWP.
*Files*
Clean install of the LWP packages (mediafire dot com/?t5mjyjjgnjm)
Select this if you want to install the LWP on a clean install or install without any LWP
Update install of the LWP packages (mediafire dot com/?jjowddzzmdw)
Select this if you used the previous version with LauncherPro and Home Switcher. This will remove those packages and update to the Sense Enabled LWP.

i did that but i still cant have live wallpaper keeps giving me error on all of them.
did you do a clean install or the update?
i did it clean and it works fine for me, then again maybe im running a different rom. I have unrevokeds rom from used in the basic how to root aria thread didnt see any reason to use anything else. cat see your error it looks like this:
if you're running attn1s Liberated Aria rom, then the method scristopher quoted is the only known way to get live wallpapers installed onto the aria running sense. the entire thread about live wallpapers is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6953168&postcount=14
i have them working using the first clean install method as well.
ok i have no idea what i just did but after messing around in htc eris and nexus one's fourms and spending 30 min in Clockwork I think I have lwp... only problem.. when I touch the left of the screen in the nexus wallpaper the colors appear in the middle... my wallpaper is zoomed in....
Hello,
Quick inquiry with regards to a minor complication when attempting to flash a custom theme to a Sony Xperia X10.
The device has been rooted successfully and is currently running Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3 v053.
I have attempted to flash a custom theme titled "Galaxy S for CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Stable". Everything functions perfectly thus far. Other then the fact that upon reboot an error messages specifies that Gmail has ceased unexpectedly.
The exact message displayed is quoted as "The application Gmail (process com.google.android.gm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Although this message displays consistently upon each attempt to restart the program. Also automatically once the device initializes from a reboot or shutdown. The theme was flashed via xrecovery as custom zip. As per instructions "cmparts_ui.xml" was transferred to /sdcard/CMTheme and selected from the Tweaks menu.
(Thread referenced: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876600)
This problem did not occur originally when CM 6.1.3 was flashed. Would resolution be a matter of reflashing Cyanogenmod? or as simple as updating the application itself within the market? I can not locate any original files to flash back to the provided theme packaged with the most recent 6.1.3 mod and I can only surmise that doing so would resolve this issue.
Final note would be the process one would take to uninstall such custom themes. I've noticed deleting the .xml file from the sd card does remove it from the tweaks menu. However does this procedure ensure deletion of all associated files? Or is there a proper method to ensure complete removal is successfully accomplished?
Any feedback with respect to this particular theme including whether or not it would be necessarily recommended is much appreciated. This wouldn't be my first flash/root/modification or customization of a device. However this is my first Xperia X10. So I do want to make sure I am being as accurate as possible to avoid any future complications.
Thanks for everyones time and attention.
*Although on the plus side I'm able to transfer my contacts from a SIM card directly to the device with this current version of firmware. Such feature was greyed out in the menu initially
the theme probably has a custom gmail apk in it. which is either broken or incompatible with 6.1.3.
try opening wb's 6.1.3 with 7zip and pull the gmail.apk from that rom. copy it to your sd card, then use root explorer to copy it to /system/app. give it the correct permissions and reboot. problem should be fixed.
hello
thanks for your reply. your instructions sounded quite logical and i assumed id have no complications. i copied the app as per your instructions. overwrote the existing entry when prompted. however upon reboot gmail has been removed off the home screen.
attempting a manual install either within the system/app directory or through the sd card returns an unable to install error message.
ive gone ahead and downloaded the gmail app from the market. which thankfully does install. it is functioning and installs successfully to the device.
presumably anyone experiencing this same issue should download the app from the market very strange occurrence indeed.
my only other issue currently is the GPS functionality. switching on the gps displays no indicator within the toolbar. location based services seem not to pick up a location what so ever.
im hopeful this isnt a result of flashing this particular theme. any suggestions?
If you have flashed a framework etc for that theme (using xrec) it won't reverse if you delete that xml file in the sd card.
If you want to go back to original make a copy of that theme xrec and replace its apks with the apks from the ROMs xrec zip. Then flash it.
And if you want to use the theme and also the gmail apk look and feel (theme). Try replacing original gmail apks .png images, which are in drawable-hdpi etc. folders, with the themes gmail apk images.

after you copied to /system/app, did you change permissions?
the theme may not have a status_gps.png icon or, it's the same color as your status bar.
the app never requested a permission change. upon trying to start originally would just return error.
this was resolved by downloading directly from the market. my only issue now is what to do with the gps connectivity? as it does not seem to be returning a location. the only other thing ive noticed is the default camera app does not zoom.
im trying to assess whether any of this is a result of having changed the theme to the galaxy s cm 6.1 mentioned in the initial post, and how to go about fixing these issues to avoid having to flash back to the original cm6 stock theme.
** GPS has been fixed and is fully functional. Single issue remains with regards to camera not zooming what so ever. Although now attempting an upgrade to CM7. Thanks everyone
All.
My appologies if the fix is somewhere through this wonderful maze of knowledge. I have recently updated to a donated version of Liberty 2.0.1. I love this ROM. I have also themed to the amazing Epic Blue theme. Running Launcher Pro Plus with very little other mods or tweaks. My issue is that everytime I apply the theme, my Market app breaks. I can no loner find it in my app drawer and the short cut on home screens is there but doesn't work. Then I try to reinstall it via another theme or by file manager it still will not install. I'm still rather new to ROMs, but have technical knowledge. Any guidance on how to reinstall the market app will be appriciated. Right now the only way to get it back is to really store a backup or wipe everything and really flash which as you all know is time consuming.
If you go to settings > applications > manage applications, is it in the list under all?
Thanks for the reply. No. That's strange right? Its now where. The only thing I can think is its because I have a custom icon for it on the dock using launcher pro plus. But, if that where true them all apps like this would act the same right?
Im pretty sure the marketis not installed on your phone. I have two ways to get it back:
1. Using root explorer, go into one of the themes and copy the market app into /system/app. Then install it
2. Google search 38 themed markets. It should be the first site. Download one, and flash it in CWM.
Hey man, stetsonaw from DF (aka the creator of EpicBlue).
It seems you downloaded my OLD version of the theme, which breaks markets, that WAS in the Liberty Toolbox.
Here's what you do.
-Install Liberty without wiping data (wipe cache and dalvik cache)
-Verify the market is now there
-head over to DF and grab my new and more epic version of the theme (google EpicBlue Liberty, you have the discontinued one, grab the proper one for your X)
-make a backup
-install theme
oh, and take two, call me in the morning
I recently flashed my Desire with MIUI and have tried some themes but they don't work fully.
I downloaded the WP7 Dark-Theme from this tread, put the .mtz-file in SD\MIUI\theme and chose it via Theme Manager but when it's loaded nothing changes, except the bootscreen.
I've tried some other themes and rebooting my phone but many of them doesn't work at all.
I've also tried to back up, uninstall and re-install "theme.apk".
What am I doing wrong?
Restart your launcher. If you don't know how to that, restart your phone. (or try using fast reboot app, it might help with quick restart)
mate you don't need to copy it to miui just anywhere on the card then in themes press menu then select import from sd card then it will copy to proper place and convert it to working version as that them is old and don't work with latest version. also make sure you use the newest version so there is no problem there
I've tried your tips now but they're not working. Got any other solutions?
Also, alot of the stock themes included in MIUI don't work.
My current version of "Theme" is 0,7. Is it the latest?
