Its really freaking hilarious that you said that because I was gonna say the same thing in my OP but I figured I would be nice....but I'm glad you said it. LOL
What I don't understand is to what end would you capitalize every word because if your typing on a computer keyboard, its a pain to hit shift every second but if your typing on the G1, it would be downright painful!!!!!

But why??? Its so slow to type and there's no reason for it other than pissing people off. Seriously, I was temped to browse other threads as soon as I started reading because it's so annoying to read.
Anyway, people are trying to help. Format your card in your phone, and place the file on the card as DREAIMG.nbh and DREAMIMG.nbh (can't remember which is correct, try both).

Yes it is thank you! Apologies for any offense
Are you using the original card that came with the phone? If not, what brand is it?
Is your G1 US, UK or from somewhere else?
Do you have a card reader to put the card in? Dumb question, but did you mount the card when you hooked your phone up to your pc? If all that doesn't work, you can boot into ubuntu and do it. I have helped other people where there computer wouldn't recognize there card but ubuntu did.

So I'm intensely considering rooting now using the good ole 1-click and installing Cynaogen's latest mod with the built in apps2sd... only one thing is holding me up... the MicroSD Card. I'm NERVOUS about the partitioning process to get an EXT partition, and when I read that (according to Haykuro) you shouldn't even try apps2sd on a class 2 or even a 4 (or expect potentially lots of crashes/reboots)... I get more nervous.
I have a Patriot Class 4 8GB Micro... think it's good enough or should I wait to do this whole process till I have a class 6? I don't want to wait TOO long lest they patch the exploit. :/
ALSO... do you have to do the partition BEFORE you install Cyanogen's build or can you do it after?
Thoughts?
Well I'm running apps2sd on my 8gb class 2 card and it works fine, at first i got force closes, but the fix_permissions command solved that problem for me. Also, I partitioned my card before I got cyan's rom on my phone.
hope that answers your questions

I have a Kingsinton Class 4 8GB and it works perfectly on the HTC hero rom. I wouldn't worry too much about that issue. I wouldn't use the One-click root if I were you though, since u will be missing out on all the android essentials. Rooting is very simple and teaches you the system when you root it the manual way.
Finally, you so do it BEFORE you install the build. good luck!

Sure it may be easy to do but you will not learn such things as adb shell that allows you to control your computer or how to fix your device if anything goes wrong. you may very well end up in a position like this guy, who has no idea what he is doing.

Logically speaking, a SD card is a SD card so the process would be the same. If I were you I'd back up the contents of my SD and try it out...I'm pretty sure somewhere in the original CM6 thread this subject was mentioned so it might be worth sifting through the mass amounts of pages to try and locate that...

i think this was the page that was linked from the cm-6 thread.

Yes, I did see this sticky with links, but that is by no means a starting point for a total newbie, and by newbie I don't mean someone that's incapable of following instructions, as I've gone through several ROM's on my Pre, G1, myTouch 3G, EPIC 4G, iPhone/3G/3GS. I am just new to WP7 and that sticky doesn't really explain where to start.
Specifically, I am getting a used HD2 with WM6 on it and I want to end up with a dual-bool WM7/Android system on it. I just saw that was possible, but saw different combinations and different methods: WP7 on NAND & Android on SD and viceversa, etc.
Any tips would be appreciated.
First install hspl, than flash a good radio, then magldr, then clockwork mod and then flash a great android rom
Or for win phone stop at magldr and flash win phone ...i know its very short but you will have Tor search for a tutorial for each because there is much to say )).if there is a special question write me a PM

Short yes, but actually, that should give me a starting point, even though it did not explain which OS I should flash on NAND and which on SD or why, which sounds like one of the first things I need to decide. But yes, I guess I will need to do a lot of reading before knowing my path. Thanks.
Hi,
First of all you can't have WM7 and Android at the same time, or else, if you had a TMOUs you will find some tutorials to doi it.
I recommend you to search, you will find aht you are looking for.
At xda-developers.com first page you will find a link to how to do it... ok I give you a tip : http://www.xda-developers.com/android/complete-guide-to-installing-nand-android-on-hd2/
And I think this is not the correct forum to ask this
See you
ok lets clear this up, HSPL, radio, MAGLDR, flash WP7, then follow tutorial to install android as well
Ive not bothered, since i moved to WP7 from android you couldnt pay me to go back, but i think the process is basically, install WP7 with a working small SD card, take SD card and clone it to a bigger SD card and then install android on the SD, there are plenty of tutorials on all this,.
also to be clear, you MUST install WP7 to NAND, it uses the SD card as well, you cant use it just on SD, so if you want android its (or it was the last time i checked) NAND+SD for WP7 and a alternate partition for android.
OK, doest your purchase seems to you as some sort of DEVELOPMENT? I guess not. SO why the hell are you placing your question in development section?
And are you joking about that you dont know where to start? You want dual boot WP7 device. Ok, what about looking for a thread about -fanfare- how to dual boot WP7 and android? And yes, it is present on this forum and I gues it has sticky on it.
YOU ARE LAZY!

Definitely not joking and that thread (which isn't stickied, by the way) is hardly the starting point I'm looking for, since it starts assuming you already have Gingerbread on your HD2 and you know that's now how they come from HTC or your local carrier. See part 1 video for yourself.

Searching is how I found out you definitely can have both.
It should be in general,

Your solution lies here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815
if you want to run both wp7 and android it is possible but you will have to flash wp7 nand as uptill now it is the only way to flash wp7 on (nand) and android on your sd card that way you will have both the worlds..
So I have both WP7 and Android booting now (woohoo!), but I still have one problem left, as explained in this thread. Could you guys advise? Thank you.
Here's your problem.
it looks like you didn't have an SD card in your phone when you flashed WP7 or something, you should have like a 3.5gb "unknown" partition if u used a 4gb card the first time. Here's how are/were supposed to do it.
Flash WP7 with a smaller micro SD card than you plan on using (you have to use 2 micro SD cards for this to work, one "big" and one "small") let's use a 4gb for this example and a 16gb.
put your 4gb small microsd in the phone and flash WP7, load up WP7 for the first time and do some set-up.
turn off your phone
put the 4GB card into your computer's SD card reader, and open up that partition manager, you will see a 3.5gb partition. If you have another card reader put in your 16gb and copy the parition from the 4gb to the 16gb, if you don't have a card reader then copy it to your PC or any flash drive with more than 4gb, then take out the 4gb micro sd and put in the 16.
copy the 3.5 partition to your 16gb big card and when it's done, you should see like 11gb unallocated and 3.5 unknown and 200mb ntfs or something.
resize the 200mb as high as you can (11.5gb) or something), then reformat it to fat32.
copy your Android build to the new fat 32 and put the 16gb card back into your phone.
You should now be good to go. WP7 has 3.5gb of space and Android has 11.5 or something. Do not EVER start WP7 without this SD card in there or it will hard reset and you will have no space for WP7
I am finishing the entire process again. This time, I used a different guide for the partitioning. It's very similar, but I think there's one little step in this one that was excluded from the other one and it's critical. Specifically, I'm referring to steps 2, 3 and 7 of Method # 3. Basically, after you've done the partitions in step 4, you must let WP7 reset again. I actually forgot this and experienced the 10GB... 10MB problem again. At that point, I manually reset settings again and was able to get my exact total and available storage right after the phone booted back up. Right now, I'm booting up my Android OS for the first time, but I did boot up WP7 twice successfully, with the right storage amounts.

2) and how do i play music and movies from my sd card in my hd2 with WP7?

1) I've read other's who have had a similar problem. Search the forums. I believe it has something with residuals from previous ROMs. Try task29 before flashing.
2) Seriously asking this???? You use Zune to put content on to your phone! WP7 works through Zune. Have you not read any of the "how-to install WP7" write-ups and the requirements for syncing with your PC?
It isn't any different from what you did with WM6.5, just a different interface.

I didn't look at the links, but it basically has to do with how WP7 formats your SD card. It can be reformatted in a way that reflects the size of the card. I can provide you with more help if you'd like.

ah yes, sorry bit of an assumption made there! you will need to hard reset and install again, or reflash, its up to you, on the positive side, with only 200mb storage you'll not have lost much. your activation code if you have one should still work

The Hd7 will become king of the hill once they crack it wide open, theres little difference between the two of them but the HD7 with its more vibrant screen does look a bit better. I still long for the day someone can get WM booting of an SD card, via magldr that is. however in saying all of that, dispite the HD2s drawbacks i still think it has the edge at the moment, purely because there is little that wont work with it, but least you gave it a shot. Good luck with the HD7

i guess thats one of the issues that has to be dealt with then using an os not designated for the device, there will always be quirks and issues
well if you would have read what your doing when installing windows phone 7 you would have known that this happens.
windows phone 7 doesn't support sd cards, thats why the card is formatted when installing it and you have only 200mb left. the rest of the card is in wp7s discformat and you can use it as your internal storage.
so when you farmatted your sd card to get back your 16gb as fat partition you deleted system files of wp7 that were on the card. that's why this error occured.
if you would read the instructions in the rom threads and the stickies you would have known all this. everything is clear and easy when you inform yourself before starting with something and there are a lot of threads explaining everything in detail.
