I was about to work my way into a Nexus S 4G. Looks like I'll have to wait.

F*ck YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if it will be LTE ready? And when?

now if only they'd make me happy and announce a slider keyboard version of the Nexus... But this is still good news..

I had almost given up hope sprint would get this phone, I guess i get to wait on buying the sgs2 a little longer.

That would completely run the phone lol. Let's take a sleek, thin CURVED phone and add another 1/4 inch to the thickness and add more weight to it for a keyboard. None the less its a huge huge screen. Plenty room for anyone to work the on screen keyboard just fine

Forget the thickness, if it had a keyboard I would pay contract-free prices for it. Drool. Still, if this is legit... I know what I'm getting! (It better have WiMax...)

Honestly i hope it has LTE even if i dont have it cause if I'm signing a 2 year contract after a year I'm sure ill want lte.
But if not then i guess Wimax would be ok.....
I would probably only use 3g anyway as i very limited 4g here and never in the areas here where it is at.

Unless you're in a major city, by the time the contract expires you probably won't have LTE available. I, however, already have decent WiMax coverage... and want to keep using it.

I told myself I'd stick with this Nexus S for at least a year when I bought it at full price in May after ditching my Epic..... I really really really want that Prime!

Or maybe that was phoenix?

That's great that it is coming to Sprint... may decide to stay after all.
I doubt it will be, but if the Sprint version was a slider I would definitely get it. Swype, apple KB, GB kb - can't get used to any of them, gimme a good hardware KB anytime of the day over any of them.

I got my nexus s 4g a month ago but I want this phone I'm going to start saving $$ now so in a couple months I'm getting it if it really does get on sprint I know that the new galaxy s3 is going to be better spec wise but its a nexus & pure Google is great no bloat upgrades come are way first the nexus s4g is getting ice cream sandwich in a few months but I still want this dual core super amoled 720 p HD 316ppi monster!!!

Same size as the HD2, which is NOT too big...the overall dimensions of the phone are just a little taller than our N1 and about it looks like half an inch wider.

i really dig the kickstand.. pretty cool feature
front facing 1.3 mp camera is pretty cool, video chatting ftw
1500mah battery will not last long in there at all
id consider selling my tmo nexus1 when that comes out on sprint
depends on how sprint decides to handle their 4g data plans
afaik they will not be offering all you can use on 4g

There is nothing the new iPhone that will come out this year have that will be better than the EVO!!! **** I want it
I'm personally sick of chasing phones, my n1 seems pretty cool still, nothing really kicks its arse...
Plus imo its too big.. the hd2 looked way bigger than my n1 when I compared them...
4.0 would be perfect... I most definitely ain't switching providers.... n1 for me all year unless a better processor comes out I could care less about the camera and front camera... just my opinion...
But looks cool though
I don't think the big screen is gonna be pocket friendly and HTC is just throwing phones out there that won't reach quick updates like the Nexus. Sure the Evo is better spec'd but the support the Nexus will get from Google will keep it at the top until Googles Nexus Two. I just think all these random HTC Android phones like the Incredible, Desire, and the Evo are one and done androids. They will get Android 3.0 like 8 months after the Nexus and that will most likely be it. While the Nexus is there getting fed updates.
I really am excited to see applrs response to all these amazing phones.
getting it on the first day without a doubt.
CDMA fail...
After switching from an iPhone 3gs I really have come to despise exclusivity agreements with carriers the way the EVO 4g will be. If HTC goes out of their way to make the EVO 4g available on all the carriers the way Google is going to do with the N1 then I would consider EVO 4g but otherwise I wont support that kind of shady business practice anymore. This is why I support an open company like Google which puts the customer first and gives them options they are asking for.

Ok.. so while a couple of you have good point, it seems that the majority is in denial because you already bought the Nexus One. I own an N1 too guys...but I can honestly say that the Evo 4G is going to be a great phone for Sprint. At the end of the day, this is going to help Android increase their market share, which is what we all should be rooting for.

Mytouch to Nexus??

I have a mytouch 3g (3.5mm jack) and im kinda tired of it.. its kinda slow... So whats the fastest phone i can use with tmobile? is it the nexus??? or i should wait for something else to come out?? is it worth it the upgrade???
Also i have heard that the internet on the nexus is alot slower than the internet on the mytouch (3G)

I have never used the mytouch. I've held it in my hand and whatnot, at the store, and goofed off with it. And I've noticed that the response time is noticeably slower than my Nexus, and the nexus just feels amazing in my hand, and is a breeze to use. I can't tell you about the internet speeds, but I would take a Nexus over a mytouch any day.
is there anything coming out for tmobile?? I need to buy it with out a contract so $500... I would hate to spend that much today and tomorrow something else will come
how is the nexus compared with the n900??

If you are always waiting for the latest and greatest, you'll never get anything because as soon as something comes out, something better is coming out "soon".
Personally, I have an N1 and would not give this up for any phone on the market now, or anything coming out anytime soon.

Better is a subjective term for you and you alone to decide.
I'd rather buy an N1 unlocked for $500 and save $ with the EV+ plans than buying a Galaxy at $199 paying $70-80/mo if that is what you are asking...

Well i have a family plan.. so i could get it from google's at $529, i looked in craiglist and chapest one is about $450 (tampa, FL) so i rather pay the extra and get warranty from google.
hey miguel, there is a seller on craiglist who is selling his nexus one for 400 dollars. you want his number? i can pm you since we live in the same city.
i dunno about you, but i think 400 is pretty cheap compare to what i see on threre. i would have get it if i didn't got one yesterday for 450 dollars and if it didn't took him a long time to reply my texts.
Samsung galaxy eats the n1 in power and gpu and has a beautiful super amoled screen with a flawless touch screen and it records 720 p without a hack....
But it has no flash, froyo wont be soon unless custom and well its Samsung and looks like a iphone...
If it had flash 10.1 and a camera flash. Id be on it... damn no flash for camera what?

Or ebay. Probably be able to get a better price on craigslist if you wait it out and find a good seller. Might even be able to trade for it.
They are going for around 480 on ebay right now. I lucked out and bought one for 430. I have another one that has a few small scratches on the screen that I would sell you for 425, including shipping, through paypal. PM me for details.
I switched from a Nexus to a Evo 4g. Reason being is that T-Mobile's service isn't that great where I live. Like I'm at my sisters right now and I get 2 bars of Edge on my Nexus and Full bars of 3g on my Evo. Anyways, Nexus is one of the best phones on the market, I feel sad that I made the switch, but I couldn't take the spotty coverage anymore. I'd recommend you look up and see if
Samsung Galaxy is interesting to you, otherwise just get a Nexus.
yea, the good thing about t-mobile is that they don't have a lot of good phones lol. so you save a lot of bucks without having to catch up to technology. tbh, the nexus one is nice. and wow, some of you have more hat one nexus? you guys are ballin lol. but nexus one at 300 something dollars is a really good deal.

Who will be purchasing a Nexus S?

I most certainly will my G1 is on it's death bed. I love stock android and this will have and get the updates first! I can deal with the lack of features and dual core can wait because in the next 2 years something better will come out. You can never beat technology! So who else will be getting this phone?
Me eventually.
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
I most likely will want another phone. Currently have the myTouch 3G slide.
I too am going to wait. I think Google/Sammy's partnership came late, and they attempted to give use a dual-core, but couldn't, and so rushed the single-core to their Nexus brand. Lack of HSPA+, especially, just seems backwards when all phones and carriers are moving toward "4G." It just doesn't make sense. I will hold off.
i'm still not 100%. i'd say i'm about 65% sure i want it right now. need to get to a best buy with a real working display model and use it for a while.
I should have mine on Wednesday of next week
Is it really that much better than the G2 or Mytouch4g to get? G2 has a keyboard SLCD, HSPA+, new gen snapdragon, and almost stock android. Mt4g also has HSPA+ and a new gen 1Ghz snapdragon.
I think the only reason to get the Nexus S would be for the Google updates. The specs really aren't mind blowing, they're high end, but nothing new.
So when it comes time to retire my trusty G1 I think I'll go with its successor the G2.
Although it is quite tempting to go with the Nexus S updates and SAMOLED are quite tantalizing.

Yes the mt4g is quite ugly. But I think the G2 has notable advantages over the Nexus S.
1. Keyboard
2. HSPA+
In all other things the Nexus S reigns supreme. That's what it's so tempting to get it. But then again coming from the G1 I do like my keyboard

No, I am getting it on Wednesday. I have Googler connections .
I'm waiting for the end of the first quarter to get one of the big daddy's with there dual core processors. The nexus s seems very rushed in build and spec. I've got the feeling Google are trying to cash in on christmas. Even tho I really like the updates coming straight to the phone it's no way worth the money. Just can't wait until the end of the first quarter.
can't wait for my nexus s

Nothing is going to hold me back from buying this. And I m getting everything I need from the current generation phones. Will upgrade later if they (next generation phones) really have something good on the table to offer.
16GB enough for me. 720p will come, I m pretty sure. No HSPA+ in my country
LED notifications, we are not sure of it! And many other phones dont have a track pad.
Atleast I know whatever this phone has to offer will be "usable to fullest" bcos of good battery life (consider all the pitfalls of DHD) and XDA support
Overall should be a flawless phone with whatever is has to offer! If you are fine with its offering go for it. Else wait for another 3-4 months for the next generation phones

I have a G1 that is also in its last moments so i'm thinking about getting either Nexus S or MT4g.
I'm leaning more toward Nexus S because its vanilla android and will get the updates faster but also because I think that the community will embrace it more.

[Q] What phone would you get next???

So, here's the situation... My contract is up with Sprint and trying to decide whether to stay or go. If I decide to stay with Sprint will probably go with the EVO 3d, want to stay loyal to the EVO, best phone ever. Or should I have a change of heart and go with something else or even swap out to another carrier? Too many choices.
Q: What would you do and what Phone would you get next???
Well why don't u just wait for the EVO 3d to come out and read the reviews ....if its good the buy it....if jot the go with another phone like the nexus s or maybe a different carrier.
Pick your carrier, pick one that gives you good service for the price and value for where you live. That should always be your number one concern when it comes to a cell phone, not which phone you want.
You need to decide that before you start getting phone recommendations.
I think if you are up for upgrade and your contract also ends soon, like Pao23 said, first make sure you are with a carrier that offers good service. People talk about AT&T being terrible, but I live in North Carolina and the service is about as good as any since Cingular started in this area. Sprint is pretty good where I live, except terrible at my office. If I was out of contract I would change.
In terms of phone I think any of the 1Ghz+ dual core phones are a smart buy. Evo 3D, LG 2x, or even the Atrix. Any of those are going to be like the Evo and not feel old for a while. They will probably get more OS updates. Anything older is going to leave you wanting in a year.
That has been the nice thing about the Evo. The Droid X, Droid 2, Inspire 4G, MyTouch 4G, Atrix, etc. have all come out, but never left me feeling like my phone was old and janky.
Not sure about u but sprint has the best deal I think. I pay 69.99 + 10.00 -23% off for me and +5.00 for sprint to home. So the sprint to home goes to my google voice number and with the google voice app every call I make is free. And like others say at&t stinks I think, I live in MN. And with the new HTC Evo coming out that should make you want to stay lol.
The only other provider to think about would be t mobile unless you want to pay big money. I dont love sprint but I sure got a good deal and the service is great here.

I voted stay with sprint and keep the Evo. It's still one of the highest rated phones on the market, and the best phone for Sprint (assuming you like sense or don't like slide-outs). Sprint may not have the best coverage but they are so much cheaper than anyone else in the contract game. When the Evo 3D comes out I may trade my Evo in for it, but that depends on the reviews.
I would probably wait unless you wanted to switch carriers. Let the dual cores roll out so can see what's up with them.

If there was ever a LTE version for att of the NS, I could honestly say it would be the last phone I would ever need.
I would be happy with a HSPA+ for TMO or ATT
Hell I am hoping the LTE version will launch for Sprint too
If the GN comes I see it being the LTE flavor. Or maybe dual WIMAX and LTE?
I was thinking of the Epic Touch but seeing ICS on INT GS2 left a horrible taste in my mouth . Hopefully they will leave the stock launcher like they did for GB?

I've reached the conclusion that buying expressive electronics when they first come out is simply a bad consumer choice. How often do new electronics (especially phones) ship with some kind of defect? It takes at least a few months for all the bad batches to reach the suckers and the bug-free versions to hit shelves.

Eh, I dont know. My Launch day Nexus One is still alive and working very well. My Launch day Nexus S 4G is stable up to 2Ghz (if it doesn't get too hot anyway), and has no major issues. Hell I even get better signal on my NS4G than ANY other phone I've ever had.
Think about it...

Nexus S is somewhat of a special case; most if, if not all, the bugs were worked out the year prior with the galaxy s line. And if you paid attention, which i did, the gs had plenty of problems til they released the the updated versions without bugs (gs4g and ns). On top of that, the ns4g had the ns out before it--> that's about 3 generations of product field testing. You should really thank gs, ns, and gs4g for making your ns4g what it is today
Current evo4g owner eligible for an upgrade. Was on the sprint website trying to decide between this ns4g ($0.00) and the epic touch4g ($199.99). Love the gs2's hardware, but I agree with don'tshootmesanta's distaste for TouchWiz smothering the ICS goodness underneath. Love the nexus s 4g, but it is getting a little long in the tooth. Would it be wise to get the nexus now?
As a premiere customer I believe my annual upgrade will disappear in two weeks as the program comes to an end, and the opportunity to (finally) own a nexus device, for free, seems foolish to pass up.
The foolish thing would be not to get the iPhone 4s and flip it. Nexus S 4G are too cheap to use an upgrade on it.

Yerp. Lnib I've seen them hovering around 100 bones.
Follow the leader @corythug
So you're saying I ought to:
1. Use my upgrade to buy the iPhone 4S for $199.99
2. Sell iPhone on craigslist/ebay for ~ $600
3. Keep using the evo or use the $400 profit to buy new phone off contract?
I jumped on this today for my other line...anyone recomend any good roms...or is stock rooted good enough....I would like to overclock a little too...any recommendations would be helpful cause this won't be my phone so i won't be able to tinker with it...thanks

For me it's either Nexus or no Android phone but I'd get the Epic Touch 4G. You could easily sell it, buy a Nexus S 4G and have some cash to spare. You could even wait and see if the Galaxy Nexus hits Sprint and sell the Epic Touch 4G then.

Just saw this and this makes even more sense than my suggestion. You could get a NS4G on ebay and still have money for another phone.

Yea Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast GPA 19, very much stock but better. You can just d/l and install it through Rom Manager although it's probably still on these forums some where, just to much other ICS stuff to wade through and find it. I've tried them all and his is by far the smoothest bug free one I've came across, great battery life as well. I'll stick with it until he gets a ICS version up and running.
