So, here's the situation... My contract is up with Sprint and trying to decide whether to stay or go. If I decide to stay with Sprint will probably go with the EVO 3d, want to stay loyal to the EVO, best phone ever. Or should I have a change of heart and go with something else or even swap out to another carrier? Too many choices.
Q: What would you do and what Phone would you get next???
Well why don't u just wait for the EVO 3d to come out and read the reviews ....if its good the buy it....if jot the go with another phone like the nexus s or maybe a different carrier.
Pick your carrier, pick one that gives you good service for the price and value for where you live. That should always be your number one concern when it comes to a cell phone, not which phone you want.
You need to decide that before you start getting phone recommendations.
I think if you are up for upgrade and your contract also ends soon, like Pao23 said, first make sure you are with a carrier that offers good service. People talk about AT&T being terrible, but I live in North Carolina and the service is about as good as any since Cingular started in this area. Sprint is pretty good where I live, except terrible at my office. If I was out of contract I would change.
In terms of phone I think any of the 1Ghz+ dual core phones are a smart buy. Evo 3D, LG 2x, or even the Atrix. Any of those are going to be like the Evo and not feel old for a while. They will probably get more OS updates. Anything older is going to leave you wanting in a year.
That has been the nice thing about the Evo. The Droid X, Droid 2, Inspire 4G, MyTouch 4G, Atrix, etc. have all come out, but never left me feeling like my phone was old and janky.
Not sure about u but sprint has the best deal I think. I pay 69.99 + 10.00 -23% off for me and +5.00 for sprint to home. So the sprint to home goes to my google voice number and with the google voice app every call I make is free. And like others say at&t stinks I think, I live in MN. And with the new HTC Evo coming out that should make you want to stay lol.
The only other provider to think about would be t mobile unless you want to pay big money. I dont love sprint but I sure got a good deal and the service is great here.

Sorry for OT, but everything good after the Tornados?
I vote either G2x or Evo 3d, but either way I would wait until the 3d comes out to decide.
Like others said, depends on which carrier gets good service where you are.

the Evo is still a great phone. I don't game so I haven't found an app which is slow or that makes me want to upgrade. The Evo has a fantastic dev community and I'm thinking I will wait until I really need to upgrade. The longer you wait, the better the phones that are available.

I heard the iPhone 5 will have a 4" screen, after Jobs was doggin on phones with larger screens. Anyways im definitely upgrading. I have two upgrades on two lines, so I may get the nexus S then the E3d when that drops. My kids always get my hand me down phones so they are excited also.
My upgrade isn't until next year
I wonder what will be out then lol

Stay with the Evo
If Sprint gets an iPhone I'm out of the Android game.
I would wait until a month after the 3D launches and troll the forums for any issues that may come up. Once the excitement settles you'll see threads pop up with flaws and issues.

I voted stay with sprint and keep the Evo. It's still one of the highest rated phones on the market, and the best phone for Sprint (assuming you like sense or don't like slide-outs). Sprint may not have the best coverage but they are so much cheaper than anyone else in the contract game. When the Evo 3D comes out I may trade my Evo in for it, but that depends on the reviews.
I would probably wait unless you wanted to switch carriers. Let the dual cores roll out so can see what's up with them.
Perhaps we will see a dual core nexus

For my Sprint 30 day guarantee. Tomorrow is the last day I can return my Evo and walk away without a termination fee. Im coming from Tmobile and have used just about all their phones and all iphones, and the Evo holds its own. I love the screen size, and its build quality. But the main thing ive liked is the 3g coverage, its no where near as fast as Tmobile in my area, but i do alot of highway driving and get 1mb plus everywhere. With Tmobile once i started getting away from the city it would drop to edge. I guess ill go play with tmobiles new Mytouch 4g and make my decision there. I just sold the g2 i had which i hated, but I still own my Vibrant and iphone 4 so i could always go back.
But so far what I Like:
Screen size!!!!!
Build quality!
Dual Flash
3g Coverage
Development support.
What I dont like:
Super amoled looks wayy better.
3g is slower but still fine (Evo= 1mb+ to Vibrant=5mb downloads)
Graphics Suck. Live wallpaper slows it down, and 3d gaming is barely playable
Sprints Customer service is no where near as good as Tmobiles.
Oh yeah after a talk with sprints retention departmnet, They waived my actication fee, and provided me with a credit of $50 since I mentioned the Evo could be acquired online for $150, just in order to keep my service. And right at the end when I mentioned I would continue to think about it, the rep offered me a $10 credit every month for the rest of the contract (24months). This would kick in on my next billing cycle.
My 27% discount would also kick in next bill, making my total bill $50 plus tax which is still a little more than if id return to tmobile
Kinda hard to argue with those discounts, not a bad deal right there.
But I can't understand how you like AMOLED screens more, YUCK! They always look odd to me, too blue or too vibrant and kind of pixel-y? They are more readable in some situations but still I think they look awful.
Not gonna lie... i really like the new myTouch. I am a fan of sense... also, hspa+ rocks in my area, and gsm is easier on battery than cdma. Add to that our wimax radios... lol, still love my evo though...
Is say they earned your business, man that makes me think I need to complain more..lol
The ten dollars off every month would more then compensate for the cost of the phone its self.

After having the Evo I just dont see how i can ever own anything smaller than a 4.3in screen. Ill more than likely stick with The evo untill sprint or another carrier releases a highend 4.3in that isnt lock down. I do love the phone, just wished it could handle graphics better.
With the discounts im getting and the coolness of the Evo ill probably stick to Sprint for now unless the mytouch4g blows me away, which at 3.8in I dont think it will.
Now the Nexus S/2 could be interesting.
I was happy getting a 23% discount from --removed by mod--
I am also of the opinion that you have way too much time on your hands. For someone who is trying to drive their price down to nothing, you sure have a lot of the more recent phones, that you clearly could have sold to make up for any cost of having a phone in general.
While I am also a former T-mo customer, I gave them my money for 10 years, but honestly I don't think they are offering the best phones this year. As for plans, everyone I know can't touch my 4G speeds. As for customer service, I think Sprint has done a pretty good job with you.
If your just here to get attention, then I'd recommend moving on to the (Insert Next Best Phone Name) forum. The EVO on Sprint 4G clearly is the winner. If you don't have 4G then I can understand your dilemma, but still I highly doubt that you have a T-mo Talk/Text/Data for less than $50. Hell, its probably not less than $70 if your including insurance on your phones.
Good luck.

First off, nothing wrong with having all the latest and greatest phones out, it's by far the best way to find out which phone you personally like best. If I could afford it I'd do it too.
Second, evo is hardly the winner. All phones have their downfalls and can be considered better than others in their own right.
My nexus can be considered better than your evo for a number of reasons.
1. Google owns android. Nexus is google's baby. It is also a developers phone.when android releases froyo, gingerbread, etc. who is the first to get it? Me. Have fun waiting months for yours to update, or for some samsung owners, possibly never.
2. I'm hitting 60 fps, enjoy your 30 fps. You may have a bigger screen but can't fully enjoy it. Playing 3d games on the evo is atrocious.
3. Sprints 4g service had been highly touted this I know. But recent testing done by cnet, which I consider highly reliable and non bias; shows in NY sprints 4g getting 2-3mb whereas tmobiles hspa+ getting 5-6mb and it's not even considered true 4g lol but it doubled sprints. Now of course mileage will very.
Don't get me wrong, evo is a great phone. it's like having a portable theater in your pocket. It took me about three weeks of intense research comparing top phones on all carriers to reach a decision. I was hesitant to get the nexus considering how old it is, released in january. But it still using the same processor as many off the newer phones including evo, the 1ghz snapdragon. Yes your chip has been updated but mines still faster lol. And I like using a developer phone and getting updates before anyone else. Some may consider updates not that big of deal but froyo increased browser speed up to 30%, not something I'd want to wait months for to enjoy.
Oh and I have to say I love the trackball. Comes in handy for selecting text or other tight spots while browsing. I can also have it blink different colors: red for missed text, blue for missed call, green for voicemail, orange for email, purple for low battery, works for notifications as well.
It's nice having all this information without even turning on my phone.
This is officially by far the longest thing I've typed out on my nexus, got to love swype lol.
The nexus one is outdated. No matter what you say. Gingerbread is rumored to come out Nov 11 and its main feature is an integtrated video chat app. Nexi don't have a front facing camera. So right there goggles baby will be handicapped with that feature. I love the nexus a year ago when it came out but data speeds aren't nothing to brag about especially if its a matter of seconds. I think the mytouch 4G is ugly, it has to much bezeling on the side. A trackball is not needed when you have a big a$$ screen. And super amoled screens have been known to burn-in the screens. All the features there's no other phone that has what the evo can offer.
Front facing camera
Kickstand
Unlockable
Sense (which is the next best thing to vanilla)
4g capable
Capacitive buttons
Skinny
Sexy looking phone
Your making a rant in the evo section , in perfectly happy with my evo. Of all the phones I've owned this is by the far the best. With features and functionality in account.

Yes the nexus has been out since jan that's already been stated. Thanks for that bit of info. But it still has the same processor as the evo, though an older version. Yet it is still overclocked much faster than your evo.
Front facing camera, unlockable (lol did you really list that?), htc sense (lol? Anyone can flash that), 4g, skinny (hardly, compared to other smart phones it's quiet bulky, hence the pocket theater)... All these features can be found on many phones...front facing camera is over rated I can do without. How many video calls have you made in the past month?
Trackball great for alerts I don't even have to turn on my phone to get notifications.
With that being said, I'm glad you are happy with your evo, enjoy
I actually use the front facing camera a lot. I chat with other evo and iPhone 4 users. Given the ratio its pretty thin. And what's wrong with using the same processor. You want a better processor then go to Samsung galaxy s series. Good luck with the gps on there tho. Humming bird processor blows everyone out of the water. When I mean unlockable I mean the boot loader is not on lock down. And not everyone phone can flash sense, DX or D2 can't. Which are the newer phones comparable to the evo. You were seriously contemplating leaving Sprint to go with t-mobile cause of data speeds in a restricted area. Kinda of ironic cause the only thing that you sound to be proud of on the nexus is the processor speed. Processor speed don't mean **** if you don't got 3G or WiFi connection. Edge sucks on tmo and ill take Sprints 3G even tho I have the same processor as your sexi Nexi.
Scoobasteves: Evo is just as fps unlocked as nexus, that's old news.

Are you in a bad mood man? Geez.
First I never tried driving their price down, I called about possibly porting my number and what the process is. The rep was the one asking questions and was being cool about wanting me to stay. So he offered me a discount.
And yes it's cheaper for me to go back to tmobile even with my 27% sprint discount. We have had a family plan with tmobile for 8 years, so adding my line back would only be $5 and an additional $30 for Internet.
Maybe I do have to much time in my hands, but I've never complained about prices or tried to brag about my phone being the best. I understand there are always new phones coming out and thankfully I have had the ability to try out a lot of them. I just like phones and the evo is among the best I have liked, but far from being a clear cut winner. I'm not one of those guys that think my phone is the best in the world and out down every other phone, i like to try out a lot of different phones if I'm able to, and enjoy it.
I guess I'll just enjoy my Evo and it's awesome screen size.

I was not trying to badger the OP. As a matter of fact I am a former T-mo customer and was very happy with it.
Is the reason your plan a T-mo is cheaper because you are on a family plan there and not a family plan at Sprint? If thats the case then its apples to oranges.
To the Nexus Guy. It was a very good phone and I was seriously considering it when it finally became available on a plan rate. But that didn't happen till AFTER the Evo came out. I was on the phone with T-mo monthly to find out when that would happen. They could never give me an answer. So I took the plunge and got the EVO and never looked back.
T-mo's HSPA in my area is garbage. Seven guys I work (in Tampa) with have the Galaxy, and all of them claim 2-4Mbps. I get regularly 6.5Mbps. It may get better, but it isn't right now.
Processor? Seriously dude? if thats all you got with the Nexus, then you need to sit down. Developers phone? Seriously? Ever heard of Root? Oh yeah... all of T-mo's new phones are getting lock down. FPS? Spend more time on XDA preeze. Sprint unlocked it about 2 months ago. XDA did it even longer.
Nexus is a beautiful thing. But I am sorry, it is inferior to the EVO in about every possible way.
Please forgive me if im in the wrong category. It said 'general' so I figured.
So today I found out my dad will be switching us from Tmobile to Sprint. I was sad to hear that my Nexus One will no longer be my best friend, instead my dad chose to pick up the Epic 4g. We will be switching this Friday. I was a little upset because of the large rumored release of the Nexus S. And the fact that the Epic, according to the sprint Rep, was on 2.1 unlike my current 2.2.1 nexus.he said it will be updated around the holidays. I asked him if the updates will continue without being held back by the carrier, he said yes and that sprint hasn't held anything back yet. I was unsure if this was true or not, my dad gave me hardly anytime to do more research on sprint and their phones so I went off of things I already knew.
The Rep was nice, spoke to him over the phone, while my dad and brother were at the sprint store with him.
I don't think he could comprehend how a 16yo could know so much I asked him if we had 4g in south Carolina and he answered no. I asked an estimate of how long it will be until we get 4g he said 6 months. So that's $60 I will be paying for nothing. (Mandatory 10$ for 4g speeds). I also mentioned my custom roms and root, which he knew about but seemed confused when I ventured further into the topic ( I get excited when talking about Technology and tend to go overboard.) Anyways his main sale tactic was:
"you will get unlimited talk, text, web. isn't that cool?"
I'm upset that my phone will be "with Google" instead of "BY GOOGLE"
anyways I just felt like someone should know because I'm honestly sad to leave my nexus. And I treat it like my best friend. Sorry if you wasted time reading this.
If you have any advice about sprint, or the epic 4g. (I will begin looking at the epic forum soon) or anything else you want to add, please do.
I warned my dad if there is a set and confirmed release date for the rumored Nexus S and its on GSM. I will pounce on it like a cat.
Goodbye Nexus One. I had a good time with you. Your 1ghz snap dragon is great, you never lag, but I must move onto a faster hummingbird processor and 4g speeds. I will never sell you. And I will most likely buy a 'pay as you go plan' so I can still update your ROMS, and use you.
Love Branden
(God Im pathetic...)
Again sorry if you wasted time reading this.

The good news is Samsung will probably follow the same sales approach with the Nexus S (and/or Galaxy S2) as they did for the Galaxy S, as in slang it all over the world on every carrier possible. There may be light at the end of the tunnel.
ya the word is it may be available for multiple carriers so u may be safe. But you could of gotten the Evo since it is supported by several devs, even Cyanogen

I'm currently on Sprint with a EVO 4G. With CM it comes pretty close to the Nexus One experience wise but sans the trackball and with a more satisfying size IMO.
That said, I wouldn't be too surprised to see a WiMax capable Nexus S on Sprint a month or three after. They already did it with the SGS/Epic 4G so you never know.

You should have 30 days to switch to other phones if you don't like the epic, my friend just got an evo and it's sick! If this happened to me,i would go for that instead, htc is way better than samsung with updates and rooting, plus touchwiz is kind of cheesy. Hope this helps, and enjoy any new phone you get.

You should carry around your Nexus One and just use your Epic to tether your Nexus for data

The Epic is... epic. It's an amazing phone in terms of hardware, root it and wait for CyanogenMod to come out for it.
What is with your carriers. I think it is terrible that they do not work around a standard like 900/2100 GSM.

a. Verizon had the Incredible, then the Droid X, Fascinate, Droid 2, and now the Droid Pro.
b. AT&T had the iPhone 4, Captivate, BB Torch, and now a slew of WP7 phones.
c. T-Mo had the MyTouch 3G slide, Vibrant, G2, MyTouch 4G, and now the Nexus S.

Sprint's NEVER had the biggest phone selection. They offer a few fantastic phones and dirt cheap plans. Honestly though, I'd pick the Evo and the Epic over any Android phone out there right now though haha. The Nexus S would be the only one I'd consider, but not anywhere near enough to leave spring haha

T-Mo is arguably as cheap plus it's HSPA+ is free. With them you got the options of: the Vibrant (it's SGS variant but is "meh"), G2 (Powerful and slick slider with Vanilla Android), MyTouch 4G (which is just about the/one of the best spec'd phones out), or the Nexus S (arguably the best phone out right now).
You could argue that you'll just upgrade every year in June but how is that a good thing? I mean, look at that Shift 4G thread where people are arguing on whether the EVO is still worth getting? It's 6 months old, I would feel extremely limited and not to mention shafted if I needed to get a high end Sprint phone right now.
I just think that Sprint has to step up with some more phones.

The thing is that they have both a bunch of bad ones and a bunch of good ones. Sprint has a few bad ones and a few good ones.

...because it just came out and is the headlining Android phone? Which brings me to my main point, does anyone think it's sad that the EVO is still Sprint's flagship phone? During the same time period:
a. Verizon had the Incredible, then the Droid X, Fascinate, Droid 2, and now the Droid Pro.
b. AT&T had the iPhone 4, Captivate, BB Torch, and now a slew of WP7 phones.
c. T-Mo had the MyTouch 3G slide, Vibrant, G2, MyTouch 4G, and now the Nexus S.
..and Sprint? The EVO and Epic. What's up with that? This isn't a which phone is better thing, just pointing out how much Sprint is lacking on the high end phone selection.

Yeah, but the EVO is still a stronger performing phone than most of the phones you listed there. Aside from the Droid Pro and Nexus S there isn't one phone there that would replace my EVO. Those WP7 phones aren't even a consideration imo....

The Droid Pro is trash IMO. I'd consider the Nexus S, iPhone 4, G2, and maybe (but probably not) a WP7 phone. It's all matter of preference but the fact is that you got more worthwhile phones to judge and I wish that was the case with Sprint.
And what does all this crap have to do with the original question about the kiosk?
Agreed! I sell phones and I am yet to come by an android phone as reliable, fast, and attractive as the Evo. Sprint's got a lock on phone quality. All the other android phones you mentioned dont measure up...except the Nexus S.

I sell more evos than any other phone, half the phones i sell are evos, the phone's over 6 months old, still crazy popular, and has hardware specs that other phones are just now finally beating. HTC did an awesome job with it, can't wait to see their next phone after the shift.

All carriers will help you with the cost of your ETF. Call and ask, it's Christmas season.
I rather walk in the sprint store and see a few great phones that will fit my needs... maybe like a front facing camera? Or a 4.3 inch screen? HDMI out? 10+mbps of data speed? A kick stand to kick back in the office and watch Hulu at full speed? Or play Need for Speed Shift while waiting for my girl? Maybe use Fring to video chat with her since she also has a front facing camera? Or how about getting on the XDA app and laugh at stupid posts people make regarding sprint and phones and trophys about tours..
Oh crap.. i just dropped my keys.. let me use my twin-led flashlight to find them...
I found them!!
Where was i?
I was jamming out... downloading music with Gtunes.. i can also use windows explorer/music/copy all... dragging and dropping the music files i need without connecting to itunes and syncing...
I just got a notification on my Sony Ericsson Live View... i can see my twitter replys without taking my evo out of my pocket...
Aww crap... i lost wifi signal at work, so did my co-workers... ill just turn on my Hotspot.. there.. me and my friends have full speed 4G signal on thier pcs via my internal router on my Evo...
Im gonna watch youtube... let me connect my HDMI enabled phone on my 42 inch tv...
Ahh... i love my phone..

Awesome scenario haha but.... I want the HDMI outs
since were leaving sprint next month and going to t-mobile im hoping my wife will allow me to get her some type of budget android phone. although im sure she will want a blackberry again.
myself im looking into getting the g2 or the nexus s.
what will be your next phone after the evo?
As of right now I'm not sure impressed with sprints ces showing. I'm looking in to a dual core phone but I'm in no hurry the evo has plenty of life left in it. But if i was to leave sprint I would get a nexus S
from my phone duh
I really wouldn't take any other phone over the Evo for right now, but if i had to choose it would also be the Nexus S.
I am good with the EVO but I would go with the Nexus S.
I'm sticking with the EVO for a while... I haven't been this satisfied or entertained with a phone for this long, EVER. As technology improves (ie. dual core processing), I will eventually get something new. I'm just not stalking any new phones as of yet. I give myself another 6-12mos, before I really want to try something else... Who knows, my EVO might actually last the length of 2yr my contract.
More than likely one of the Verizon LTE phones. I just read an article where Verizon said they're going to continue offering unlimited data so now I just need to see how they're going to price their LTE plans. Sprint has been good to me but I want to be able to use 4G inside my house if im paying for it.
G2..

+1. My next phone must have at least the same size screen and more features, including gpu.
I would be willing to switch carriers, but not manufacturers. My single biggest complaint with the entire industry is the horrible battery life, and non-htc phones are too much trouble to mod...which means less of a community to develop fixes.

Ramiss,
I disagree I think Motorola has such a big user base and development community that it would be a great alternative to HTC. I was honestly considering the droid bionic since I wasnt to impressed with both sprint and tmobiles ces showing I thought that was one of the better phones available because of the network it was on and because of the power it had...
i think the nexus s will be my next upgrade when we switch. the only thing i do not like is no sd card.
jesus, i checked checked out prices at verizon and it's down right outrageous.
id actually be much better off with tmobile, id even save some $$ compared to what i pay sprint.
Got my evo on launch day, so I can upgrade in June. As of right now, I don't see any phone worth upgrading to. I want a phone with at least the same specs as the evo, except for screen size. If there is a phone with great stats, and a smaller screen, I would go to that.
As many of you, the Evo is the best phone I have owned. The only thing that would make it better for me, would be a higher res screen, and dual core. So unless I see a phone with those specs, I'll keep the evo.
HTC thunderbolt. For sure.

I really don't see the need of dual cores in a cell phone, unless you guys plan on playing Need for Speed while the phone is also converting a Blu-ray ISO into AVI format in the background.
PS. My name is HondaCop and I approve this message.
Droid Bionic, but I want something on Sprint.
I've had (literally) everything at this point, and sprint would have to do something colossally stupid to make me give up my evo.
That said, if I went to tmo, right now id go for the nexus ONE. Its a brilliant device, I've not been impressed with the galaxy line from sammy yet.

U might think about the evo shift. I wouldn't want it but if u want a smaller screen then that would be a plus. Even though the processor is 200 mhz slower it manages it better than the evo. The quadrant tests I have seen ran on it are very high. I love my evo too much to leave it yet. I myself am not impressed with the evo shift but the screen is smaller, it is kind of the smaller version of the evo.

I have the original Evo and the new Evo Shift and that little puppy can fly...lol. I'll be elgible for an upgrade this April because I bought one of those Google I/O released Evos off ebay, sold it, then bought another Evo for full retail and i also bought my Evo Shift for full price. Therefore, my contract never changed and I still get to upgrade in April. Therefore, I'm going to wait to see if Sprint has something up their sleeve like an Evo 2 or something. I love Sprint's pricing and customer service and really don't want to leave. But if I have to, I'll probably go with Verizon and get the Motorola Bionic or HTC Thunderbolt.
I bought a Nexus S and that phone was a joke imo. the only good thing is that you're the first to get updates. Other than that the phone is all that. It had too many issues so I sold mine.
Hey guys,
So i've been going back and forth trying to decide if I should upgrade now or wait it out until something better comes along. I love my EVO, but just getting the urge to get something new...i have mixed feelings on the 3D and am pretty stoked for the Samsung Within to come out (supposedly in late July). Also I hear more and more rumors about the iphone coming to sprint this fall. Along with apple getting sprint towers to do some serious testing on their network in KS. If those rumors do become fact and I got a phone before they annouce it, i would be kinda of pi$$ed i didnt wait it out for the iphone.
So i guess im just seeing what you guys think - if sprint will get the iphone or not this year? Or if you have an evo 3d or if your waiting on one of the motorla's to come out or the samsung within...
Just hoping to get some discussion on what everyone is waiting on from sprint this year....look forward to reading everyones posts...
EVO 3D? (Maybe, IMHO until they address the bootloader, back off of it.)
iPhone? No. If you want an iOS device wait for a new iPod Touch to tether to any Android phone.
Samsung ___ (I don't trust them), You gotta love the spec sheet on the GSII though.
I'd wait only until September just to see what crops out. If the Nexus Prime comes out, I'd go for that.
Me personally, I'll be going to the EVO 3D just on the strength of the devs that are getting it as well & the fact that I actually like Sense based roms. I'll also be selling my iPod Touch 4 as I'll be buying the new iPod Touch #_? to tether to the EVO 3D.

Why would you want the iPhone. It's such a piece and android is so much better. I would say get the 3D or wait for the within and get that. At the very least wait for something better to come out. Please do not waste your money on the garbage iPhone.

Same here. I was hoping to hear some sort of announcement this week now that HTC's new flagship has already been released. Figured Sprint has agreements with the various manufacturers to stagger announcements so that new releases aren't downplayed by other major announcements.

I got my wife the EVO3D and she absolutely loves it. (She had the EVO 4G before)
Even stock it is screaming fast. Instant response to all the touches. Root does currently seem to be an issue and why I don't use it. Wireless tether is a must for me.
As great as the EVO 3D is I think I might wait till the Holidays and get the last greatest then. I am crossing my fingers that Sprint gets the new Nexus at launch since they have been buddy buddy recently.
If the iPhone 5 comes out for Sprint (I doubt it highly) that is a great choice as well. Not as versatile as Android but it does what it does better than anybody else.
Don't flame me, I am an Android Fan boy, but I know how to show respect to the competitors.
I'd wait it out.

OK maybe I'm just poor, but are you guys paying or planning on paying full retail? Unless you have a really cool rep letting you upgrade after only one year. Is there some awesome place selling phones for cheap that I haven't heard of? (like a trustworthy seller on eBay?)
For me, I'm still holding out until the real EVO replacement. The 3d is only meh to the original. Don't care enough about 3d and the dual core stuff is still just mediocre. When they slap in dual 1 ghz processors, then were talking. Until then, the original EVO is still way up there on list of bad ass phones.

I'm leaning towards getting a 3D this week. I was going to wait for the SG2 after seeing all the negative initial reviews, but after playing with the 3D, I came away impressed. It's got everything I like about the Evo, with a form factor I like more and the 3D was actually pretty cool to see live. I'm still hoping the SG2 comes out late July as predicted so I can still make a direct comparison before any 30 day return window ends for me.

+1 on this...I tried the Evo 3d yesterday not impressed at all
I think my Evo is working just fine and probably sticking with it. I'm going to wait for the next generation of phones (quad-cores).
I can't stand Apple but have you guys read this article?
LINK
I looked at the 3D live and it was nice, but I'm not excited enough to drop a pile of cash for it. I spoke to a Sprint Rep on the phone and she seemed to think that I could get the $75 Premier discount plus the $150 recycle discount for turning in my EVO 4G and that would get me the 3D for free. But after doing more research, it seems like she was just confused.
As far as I can tell, I'd need to buy the phone outright for $450-550 and I'd be able to discount $225 from that. Leaving me another $225+ out of pocket.
The other option would be canceling my contract and paying something just under $200 for early cancellation. Then signing a new 2 year contract and getting the 3D for $180. But that still leaves me paying ~$155 out of pocket.
Is this math generally correct? Or is there another way to upgrade the EVO 4G to the EVO 3D for lower out of pocket costs?
As for which phone I'd upgrade to if I was willing to spend $200-300+, I'm very excited about the SGII but I'm a bit worried about the lack of recent news about possible Sprint coverage on it. I'm also very interested in the Nexus Prime, but by the time it is due out I was expecting to start seeing quad core phones coming out.
Additionally, now after seeing the recent network speed tests and how Sprint is so terrible and my recent problems with extremely slow 3G speeds, I'm seriously considering a switch to Verizon when I upgrade. Plus the fact that I'm seeing Verizon's 4G network expand so much faster than Sprint's (which after a full year is still not available in my area) and the fact that Sprint may be switching over to LTE.
That looks like an HTC or Motorola to me, not an Apple.
I must admit, it looks sexy.

yeah i did, just checked it out actually before coming over to XDA...can you tell im working hard over here. I can't tell if I like that form factor or not. I HATED the iphone 4 form factor when it first came out and thought it was the ugliest thing in the world then, but now I love it. If it does look like that I guess I'd have to hold it and see how it is.
What do you guys think - think it wil be a totally revamped iphone coming out this fall or just some minor upgrades, like being compatable with Sprint's network?
The SGSII looks sick as hell and i might have to snatch that up - really hoping the iphone comes to sprint tho - without the outrageous prices!
Thanks for all the comments so far!

IMHO you have to remember, if you keep worrying about the "next best thing" there will be something better to follow, right behind it. I'd wait two months tops, just to see what else will become available.
$155 - $225 for the EVO 3D isn't bad, its generally what you'd normally pay for an average upgrade.
BTW you can't mention switching to Verizon if you're looking to manage money, I don't think you'll be too excited paying more "out of pocket" per month than you have to.

How is the SGS2 different then the EVO 3D, aren't they the same or similar specs?
