Hello,
If someone could please let me know which files need to be replaced on the rooted stock version of 2.3.4 to have the screenshot function (CMScreenshot) added to the power menu?
On newer versions of CyanogenMod the function is accessed by holding down the power button and pressing screenshot from the menu there. I really like the functionality of that as opposed to using apps like Screenshot It.
Thanks for any help.

i doubt it would happen for stock 2.3.4, since CM7 and the stock are two totally different roms with different files and etc.

Hello everyone,
my Name is Fabi and I'm fairly new to Android. My previous Phone had Symbian...
My current phone is of course the HTC Legend...
... it has 2.1 stock on it
... Baseband Version 47.26.35.04U_7.05.35.26L
... Kernel Version 2.6.29-e3993620 [\n] [email protected] #1
... Build Number 1.31.405.5 CL154058 release-keys
... Software Number 1.31.405.5
... Browser Version WebKit 3.1
... it is NOT rooted.
I read a lot in the last few weeks here and know a lot more about Android "Development".
But there are still a few open Questions
If i root a device, it's loosing its warranty. But if i unroot it (like in the new available Guide) again, can they still notice that it has been rooted before?
Do i have to reset/wipe all my Phones data if i unroot my device?
Is there something like BarryAllen so I can switch between roms (I think there is something like that called Rom Manager - but i'm not sure)
Can i receive FOTA's again after i went to the stock Image again (to use the stock FroYo as soon as it is out)
Does the FM Radio work again after i went back to the stock Image again?
Can i create a RomDump of my phone, so i can flash it back whenever i want?
Where can I find a description of Clockwork Mod (what does it do, and how and how to use it,...)
Thank you for reading (and answering) those stupid n00b questions.
I hope you understood my English
Fabi
Edit: I figured out that RUU means Rom Upgrade Utility, but what does WWE mean?

Be sure, you'll be right more often than you think. ROM Manager is indeed the app for managing ROMs.

In theory, yes. Some people seem to have difficulty with this though. Not sure why

Yes, it's called a nandroid backup. You need to be rooted to make and restore from them

Right here:
It's an alternative recovery image, and gives you lots of options: creating/restoring backups, flashing new ROMs (it works with ROM manager to make this easy), wiping anything you like and, of course, flashing all the other MODs you're gonna want to mess around with.
How to use it:
Well, if your phone boots properly you can just tap "Reboot into recovery" from ROM manager (also use ROM manager to install clockworkMOD). If your phone doesn't start properly (boot loop) you can still get to it. To quote myself:
Press and hold the volume down button while you press the power button. You'll get to a white screen with little Android dudes at the bottom. Ain't they sweet, riding their little skateboards. Anyhoo, what you see now is the bootloader, the pesky little thing that made rooting so hard. Within this area of your phone you need to use the volume buttons to move up and down in the menu, and the power button to select. So, wait for the list of files to appear and disappear again, click on the "RECOVERY" menu, and wait until you get to the infamous "red-exclamation-mark-in-a-red-warning-triangle-on-top-of-a-picture-of-a-phone-that-looks-nothing-like-the-one-you're-holding-and-just-screams-danger-at-you" screen. When you see this, ignore your instict and don't run for the hills. Just press and hold the volume up key while you press the power button. Ignore the error, and wait until you see a blue menu. Using the volume and power buttons navigate to, and click, "apply sdcard:update.zip"
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
BOOM! ClockworkMOD recovery. We're back in business! In these menus you need to use the optical trackball that HTC so kindly provided us, and click on "nandroid".
What's that? Your screen went black? Didn't I just tell you to use the optical trackpad? Use that for clicking too. Kicking youself now, aren't you?

I think that covers it. Have fun!
Thank You very much.

World War Three (replace the E with an 3)...joking. World Wide English is the meaning and it's just saying that the ROM in question is "universal" having English as default language (I hope I've explained correct). You should always want to use a WWE ROM, if you don't want to end up having a localized ROM installed on your phone (Chinese sounds good? )
[joke]
You just said World War 3 because I'm a German - thats unfair... It was the fault of Austrians, in both cases.
[/joke]
Okay, thank you for all your answers.

Go down to Method B since you aren't on 1.5
But really, why would you use official android?
Get froyobylaszlo, or ezgingerbread, or cm7
He's right, OTA updates are good (not for me), but it is better to root your phone. There are lots of threads on the internet, I used Official Androot app and it worked fine. Then you'll need to flash a custom recovery image. I have a tutorial for that, so just check that on my account. AFTER that, you can flash a ROM, CyanogenMod 4 is also 1.6, but if you want to have like 2.2 or 2.3 like all the new phones, you have to update your Radio/SPL. I prefer the 2.22.28.25/1.33.0013d combo, because you'll have 14 mb more RAM (At the cost of playing 3D games) If this helps you, please show that by pressing the thanks button.
SAFE MODE after rooting

Just had this problem when playing with my old phone... when you press menu does the backlight on the buttons flicker? do some keys just not work or seem to press random buttons? if so the keyboard cable needs a clean.
My exact issue was (just in case you dont get what i mean)
Home Key would type Home, e , back
w,e and d on the hard keyboard seemed to e more off than on and would often just make the light flicker or turn the screen off
Power would press both the home key and power (so i could only get into the shut down menu once id turned the screen off)
ive heard this is quite common and the failure buttons vary but it was VERY annoying as i couldnt press home to confirm a restore of a zip
Can someone help me?

Rom boots normally and I can use it, but when device go to sleep example I press the power button. If I press the power button again tablet won't wake up. I need to press power button long time to shut it up and then boot the device again. What went wrong? Can someone help?

That is because all the custom ICS except Flexreaper install the wrong boot.img. go to my flexreaper thread and flash one of the kernels for ICS bootloader users. You can use it on my flexreaper and on lightspeed. Taboonay got its own ICS kernel for ICS bootloader users so look in that thead. Icylisous only works on HC bootloaders so that one you cannot use.
do this and.your sod will be gone.
I've got a question related to this here.
Please help me out.
Its regarding my CPUID
SOLVED
Thanks to all.
Does someone know download link for HC bootloader. And installation guide would be nice too. I am a newbie with tablets....

That finally answered my biggest question of the last days. Thanks.
Thanks a lot.
Now running Flexreaper 12.5, and works perfectly....
That's fine. But next time use the search function before creating a new thread.
I am running this stock, rooted, deodexed rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1830122
The only mod or mods I would like is the extended power controls (I think that's what they would be called anyway) and maybe some quick settings in my notification menu... I am really not sure if those thinsgs would be part of the same modification or not since they both seem to add buttons/settings to a menu.
I like the option to reboot the tablet or boot into recovery when you hold the power button. Does anyone know if this is an easy mod to accomplish or if there is a download with just this mod? I didn't see anything doing a quick search in the development section.
I really don't want all the customizations that come with the roms that seem to be available. I just want a stock experience but with those minor conveniences.
Thanks.

Does what you want without any modifications. Just click the button and select what you want to do.
Hi,
I flashed the odexed version of the advanced power menu for the Nexus 7:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380413
But the power menu still is stock with no change. Any ideas how to make this working for the N900-4.3 odexed stock rom?
Thanks.
Wrong forum, this should be in Q&A.
But to answer your question someone would need to make changes to the (don't quote me on this it's been awhile since I've done any "hacking" in Android) framework.res.apk, and the android.policy.jar in the ROM your running for the changes to work.
Give it time, it will show up sooner or later.
