I am on Bell Mobility (Vibrant) here in Canada. I noticed Rogers will have the Galaxy S (Captivate) mid October and has officially stated “expect an update to OS 2.2 to be available early 2011.″ So anyone know if this would be Rogers dictating the release date or is it Samsung? Also, if Froyo is released early 2011 with Rogers' Captivate, would that most likely mean the same date for all Galaxy S devices in Canada?
While samsung release firmware,
carrier has to approve whether user can upgrade it or not.
Thus firmware can be out but if bell, your carrier, does not approve it,
You will never get official update.
This is particularly annoying because canada is usually slow.....
Hi does anyone know whether we will be able to buy the 4G version that isn't going to be locked into a particular carrier?
Just I am in the Philippines and they are generally about the last country in the world to get things like this - so i would have to wait until September or 1Q 2012 before i could buy it here...
Also can a carrier locked version be unlocked at all?
Thanks in advance
The only carrier version that has been announced so far is for Verizon, expected to come out in July with LTE. No other information has been released
The International 4G capable twin of the Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9305 Model) has been completely neglected when talked about the Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update but this will change with the latest piece of information we poses. The UK Carrier EE will be the first to provide the LTE variant of the Galaxy S3 with official KitKat update, our source provided us with the Build Number I9305XXUFNM6 that will come with this official update. The update will begin to roll out this month itself and the time frame that users on EE must expect is last week of May or Early June 2014.
We do agree that this might not be the most solid proof but seeing the things turning out positive in case of the Galaxy Note 2 and Sprint Galaxy S3 the update isn’t far away and the Galaxy S3 LTE is expected to get official KitKat anyways as it has 2GB of RAM. The features that this update will bring for the Galaxy S3 LTE will be similar to other variants, some of those are Wireless Printing, Emoji Support for Keyboard, Full Screen Apps, Improved Lock-Screen Etc. The KitKat update will also make the “now old” Galaxy S3 LTE faster by improved RAM Management it comes with. Stay tuned for Manual Update Method and Rooting solutions once the update is available.

Samsung testing LTE model of Galaxy S4 mini (GT-I9197) in India?
Samsung is the leading smartphone manufacturer in India, but none of the company’s phones support LTE connectivity in the country. However, with India set to get its first LTE networks in the coming months, it’s a lucrative market that will see consumers demanding LTE smartphones as time goes by (in fact, the Galaxy S5 has numerous bad reviews on India’s leading online retailer due to the fact that its Exynos chip does not support true LTE connectivity.) According to import tracking site Zauba, Samsung recently shipped the Galaxy S4 mini LTE to India for testing, hinting that it is in the process of testing devices with the LTE networks in the country.
In India, only one carrier (Airtel) currently offers an LTE network, but the issue is that India uses the TD-LTE band, which is currently only supported by the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c (the HTC One M8 supports it as well, though HTC has said that it will need a software update to actually work on local LTE networks.) The Galaxy S4 mini LTE that Samsung is testing in India won’t be sold in the country, but the company could be testing the device with custom hardware so that it can prepare the launch of LTE devices in the future.

It seems AT&T and T-Mobile model through FCC :fingers-crossed: We'll soon hear something.
