I think ext2 is best for daily use ROM performance......
But Ext4 has less boot time as it checks the sdcard in lighter way...

ext4 is better for android phones..

as I researched... ext2 is faster in reading. so for /system (ro) I use that. for sd-ext I use ext4, journaling disabled. for /cache I'm not sure, but still ext2.

Samsung's GB uses RFS by default... sorry! Unless ofcourse you "lagfix" it into EXT4...
I just thought I read that the gingerbread update was going to change that. http://m.androidcentral.com/gingerbread-brings-ext4-file-system-new-devices . Or is the galaxy s exempt from this?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
No prasad007 is correct.the sgs file system is rfs.its a matter of opinion and personal choice whether to convert to ext4
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Cool did the change to ext4 seems a little better. Although the stock gingerbread was pretty fast. I was just worried I had messed up the gingerbread upgrade. Anyway thanx heaps ppl

No, you have seen that the Nexus S switch from yaffs2 to ext4 for the Google's Nexus phones line, nothing else. And as Galaxy S isn't the Nexus S..
No I did voodoo lagfix

I use this method. Partition your sd card through recovery (backup everything on it first) convert to ext3 and install this app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&feature=search_result
just like darktremor but easier and can be used on any and every rom

A2SD+

A little while ago i saw on a forum that they where talking about App2SD+, what means that you have the whole app on th SD.
1) Is it just a joke or does it really exist?
2) If it isn't a joke: is it possible to get it on our phones?
Sent from my GT540 using Tapatalk
yes,it's true but if U have 2.3 ROM (not stock Rom) then there is no need for the app2SD when U can adjust in setings where to install new app's . that is my opinion
It is not the same, app2sd+ use sdcard ext partition insted of data. You can use s2sd or link2sd to use ext partition.

Swap partition

Hi,
I am using SDSL 4.0 .
It is really awesome Rom. Almost everyting working!
Thanks miro!
I herd about SWAP PARTITION . I don't know anyting about it.
Please tell me WHAT IS SWAP PARTITION ? HOW IT IS USEFUL? HOW CAN I USE IT?
Sent from my GT540 using xda app-developers app
swap partition is a partition (little part) on the SD card. its usually ~32-512 MB big.
swap is a little help for the RAM. big apps can be transferred to this partition if the RAM is full.
on gt540 ics/jb ROMs need swap to work properly, buzt on the other side it slows down the whole system especially with a slow SD card.
for gingerbread ROMs it's not needed but MAY improve your experience
How can i make swap partition ?
It is properly run on sdsl?
How can i transfered app to swap partition when Rom is full?
I also know more about this partition ?
Which type of partition should i make?and how?

I made a sticky thread in the dev forum about how to make one. I think i better clear somethings up, swap is used by the system to be (RAM) If you want more space to install apps then that is a totally different partition type.

SD ext2 is the name of the folder not the format your partition is formatted to ext3 if it was ext2 it wouldn't have mounted when u selected ext3

As off now I think fat32 is better
Also if u want ext4 so badly
Just partition ur SD using cwm
then plug it to to ur PC
Format them both to ext4 again on PC (search on Google how to do it)
Then reboot ur phone and select ext4 in link2sd
I use fat32
Formatted via Ubuntu no tool
Hit thanks if helped

Yes they do
Ext4 better than fat32 better than ext3
But ext4 not compatible with all kernels and roms so fat32 is a smarter choice
