"DELETE ME" DISREGARD Help finding EC05 Update File

I Odin'd back to DI18 and got the EC05 update (downloaded successfully)... but I didn't reboot to install it. I want to actually pull that update file off the phone but I can't locate it. Is it not on the SD card? Can someone help me find the file? Thanks much

It's in the /cache directory in main memory. I was able to copy it using ES File explorer. Be aware that it contains binary difference files that can only be used to upgrade from DI18. It doesn't contain the full ROM.

[REQUEST] recovery/repair image Xperia Play

can someone who has not unlocked their bootloader go through the "repair" process in either one of the software updaters located here
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...teyourproductsoftware/xperia-play?cc=gb&lc=en
when it downloads the repair image for your phone it will stores it on your computer probably somewhere in this folder
C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson
or
start>run> %temp%
the file will be ~100mb or more
if someone can download that file and upload it to any media shareing website it would be greatly appreciated
I and we will need this for custom roms, root, and recovery if something goes afoot.
many thanks,
grant
EDIT: just an FYI this is different than the system.img /system dump that is floating around the recovery contains the boot.img, nv.img radio.img and among other things
hi johnsongrantr i just bought an xperia play sim free locked bootloader. I am new to the android front (newbie) been an iphone user for a while, if you explain what i need to do to get the recovery img i am more than happy to help
regards
Jason
C:\ProgramData\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\db\13740270\blob_fs
is where it will be and it will be called something like: FILE_277919341 and will be 157MB
Just done it but that file cant be opened even with magiciso like other roms can.
there is this as well:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...etailed/updateservice/xperia-play?cc=gb&lc=en
interestingly the above software tells you to press the back key before plugging in the usb!

thanks, if you or anyone else is following along at home, universal extractor http://legroom.net/software/uniextract can extract *most* archive files unless it is heavily encrypted... then more digging I must do.
BUT... if that works, how to inject root access to a already compiled boot.img + ram disk have a look at this guide
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Unpack,_Edit,_and_Re-Pack_Boot_Images
read the whole article but pay attention to the "alternative method" where you modify default.prop and change the line ro.secure=1 to ro.secure=0
that's basically all there is to it. Lets hope we can cleanly extract the contents of that file shall we
Already tried that as well bud just shows me a log file and thats it.
Need to rename it to use uniextract but nothing is accepted it fails on all
I litterly have no idea how we get the image file short of jtagging it!
how did they get it for the arc?

well I'll just have to look at it then
shouldn't need jtagging, might be able to get an unsecure x10/or arc boot.img to boot enough to pull the info we need, but I don't want to even start messing with that junk yet
was this before or after the source for the arc was released?
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/w.../download/so-01cgingerbread30d279?cc=gb&lc=en
they might have just compiled from source.... sadly, the play doesn't have it's source out yet
EDIT:x10/ or arc
not sure been following the arc threads for a while they havent rooted yet but they are leaps ahead of us we cant make stage 1.
cant get an answer yet as to how they got it, ive posted but waiting on a reply

If you go to "downloads" on top of that page, the sourecode for Gingerbread Xperia (Arc AND Play) are there, the one you link is not Arc. Seems all Xperia (new) is compiled from same source.

Download the latest Acer stock ROM to your PC (many stock roms found on this page). Transfer it to your external SD card and make sure to rename it "update.zip". Boot holding down volume and power until you see lines of text, then let it do it's thing
thanks for the info! I found a ROM on this thread.. not sure if its the latest 3.1 build.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154492
so I downloaded it to my PC.. comes as a ZIP file.. "update_3.1".. do I unzip folder & renamed it "update.zip"? or do I leave it zipped, rename it and transfer to SD card & boot up? again thanks for the help
Leave it named update.zip do not unzip
downloaded the update_3.1 file from that thread.
renamed folder "update.zip", left compressed.
transferred to external SD card on phone.
placed SD card into tablet, booted up by holding the power & volume button.
take you into SD update cmd: recovery..
its looking for the folder..
then comes on the android logo with an exclamation point!
no good..
might it be the ROM? any suggestions..

If you downloaded it from the first link, the file needs to be decrypted first. I believe the second link on that page from megaupload is already decrypted. But that would be where the problem is.
And yes that is the latest build from Acer for the US!
I'm not sure what you mean.. consider me a noob at this.. never installed a ROM before.. encrypted or decrypted.. what would be what I need? couldn't find that second link you mentioned..

Right on! You know you can use clockwork mod to backup your system so it doesn't happen again.
You should use one of these versions, since your in the US.
4.010.07_COM_GEN2
4.010.08_COM_GEN2
4.010.11_COM_GEN2
4.010.13_COM_GEN2 (latest, not sure if it's posted anywhere yet)
The .40 version is not a US build.
interesting.. not sure what the difference is but can someone please post up 4.010.13_COM_GEN 2 & a how-to-install!

4.010.13 isn't a full rom like the one posted, merely an update.it can be obtained by simply checking for an update in "about device" in settings

2. How do I boot into recovery?
I have twrp installed and phone's rooted. Just need to know the button config. to go into recovery to follow the installation steps. TY

LOL! Sorry I had too. Someone needs there Coffee You copy the rom to your phones storage like where your pictures,Music, and stuff are at. They didnt say anything about a storage folder.
and 2. Download an app called reboot recovery in the market place
You should be cautious when flashing anything if you were looking for a "Storage" folder.

LOL I know, I feel like a total noob for even asking. I have to have instructions literally step for step or else I lose confidence and don't follow through. I'm coming from an SGS2 that I rooted and messed with for the 1st month and never flashed anything since, so I'm pretty much starting over with this ROM stuff. Thanks for the help though!
EDIT: I'm gonna ask another noob question: Do I copy just the img file or the META & System folders too?

Dude! Never be afraid to ask (but if the answers are on the website and you didn't do a proper search, expect flame on!).
Anyway, assuming you are on AT&T, you should have downloaded a file called CleanROM-1.1.zip . If you didn't get that one, go here http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=464 and download it. Check the MD5 to ensure the file is not corrupt. Do not unzip the file! Just transfer the file onto your phone - it doesn't really matter where, just remember where you put it. Then reboot into recovery (assuming you have already installed TWRP) using whatever app you like (I prefer GooManager), click Install, navigate to the rom you just put on your phone and you're good to go.
Good luck!

Thank you, you awesome person. I am really a newbie to flashing and rooting, could you please explain what should i do with it? Do i flash the zip with twrp or extract it somewhere? I tried installing some generic livewalpaperpicker.apk found somewhere on the xda and obviously it didnt work. Also is there a way to download the zip from your google drive, because for some unknown reason my phone wants to add it as a dictionary? (If no solution i'll just download it via pc). I will be fullheartedly thankfull for instructions.

I'm not sure why it's giving you a hard time downloading the zip. Are you using the Google Drive app or Chrome from your phone?
Extract the zip and copy the folder to /system/app/ using a root file manager. I should ask though, is your system stock? What version/build number? This includes the stock .apk and .odex file.

It's a rooted, stock 6.0.1 rom, with xposed framework and a bunch of modules including N-ify, If i am correct of what a build is then my build is "24.221.5.clark_reteu.en.EU reteu".
Edit:
I tried to do everything as instructed and it didn't help. And what is curious i found out that i actually already had this folder in my system/apps. I switched it with the new one, reboot and unfortunately still when i try to set any live walpaper it says "aplication is not installed". I guess i won't be able to try pixelwalpapers anytime soon.
