[q] my htc hd2 not charging....any help? - HD2 General

Hello All,
My phone won't charge at all, both on power sector and on laptop. First I thought it was the battery so I bought one on Amazon but it still wont charge.
I have checked all the pins inside the battery compartment and everything seem to be fine.
Any suggestions? is it a problem with the phone mini usb port, if so how can I fix this? Is there any way I can charge the battery without the pone?
Very confused...please help...
Thanks!

magldr on the phone? cant charge when phone is off when magldr is installed (though one would expect the new battery to have some charge, , maybe not tho...)

Indeed with the new battery, it had some energy so the phone is working but i'm losing energy and it's not being charged. I am left with about 35 per cent energy.

The micro-usb slot is attached to the motherboard. You might have to replace the whole mobo :/

Wizard looks like is recharging, but in real it doesn't!

Hi guys,
my beloved qtek 9100 is having some weird behavior since last week: i let my battery drain to 9% and then recharged. The phone would not recharge it, showing a red led. After lurking and learning about this problem on those devices I made a "starter" with three 1.5v batteries and gave the battery the necessary tension to start recharge cycle.
I thought that would be the solution but no: the phone kept stopping recharging at 25% or, the next time, at 75% with no apparent reason. Then, i tried many solutions like directly charging the battery with a cut usb cable, with the stock charger, with powered on phone, powered off phone, etc. No clue.
What leaves me shocked is that the battery, even when at 75%, drops suddenly to 0% after enabling the radio module thus killing the device...
An important note: same behavior with two different batteries...
I'm going nuts...
Problem still unsolved. Today i left the device recharge at 100% (took about 3 hours), detached it and tried a rom downgrade. Obviously it died at 50% of rom upgrade procedure. Sweet...now it's almost bricked, bootloader screen and recovery procedure to be done
What could it be, an hardware failure?
Hi there, same problem here: I have the phone with two batteries, on half a year old, one brand new. The batteries DO charge on another phone, but after a regular charge is gone, my phone never gecharges the batteries. It might be the charger circuit? If not HW, is there any chnce to do some SW stuff?
Unfortunately this thing s just a brock now ...
Bye

It's good to find someone with my very same problem...although i've got no solution, still!
Is there someone out there who knows how much would cost a fix and if it's an hw issue or not? Would it be possible to fix it via DIY?
Thanks in advance
Someone suggested me to test the current output on the main contacts to see if the device is actually supplying power to the battery.
So i plugged the wall-charger on the device, took a multimeter, checked the output: the device is supplying 3.5-3-7 volts. So, i suppose it is correctly charging. Why, then, after a turn-off / turn-on the charge level drops after showing as completed?
Could it be a sw problem, then?
USB voltage is 5v. If you are not getting 5v on the USB plug coming from that charger, then that is probably your problem. Have you tried using a USB cable to plug it into your PC to charge?

Thanks for the hint
I suppose the problem is another...in fact those 4 volts are coming from the battery itself. Pluggin in or out the power plug doesn't make any difference.
I tried taking out the battery and there's no power coming through the main contacts of the phone. Is this the right way to check or should i use some different method?
Thanks again
Last question: is there someone who could show me where the recharge circuit should be on the mainboard? Have you got any information about the ease of a diy repair and about the price / availability of the spare part?
Thanks in advance

Are you using the wall charger or with the PC. Cus you will get more power input from the Wall. As so i dont know the reg key off hand but if you change one thing you can make it so your phone does not charge off the PC. Maybe you have found a new one!

With both the wall charger and the pc usb plug. Checked the registry key and no way, it's ok.
It's really incredible, the total charge cycle takes a couple of hours, like if it were charging regularly, but after unplugging it goes down. It is like if the "carge counter" or similar records the charging, with the battery actually not receiving power.
did you solve your problem yet?

HD2 Died - Power Problem

Thats right.. last night i left my Leo charging, today when i woke up i noticed that the battery level was very low so.. i unplugged it and plugged it again, noticed that the orange led wasnt lighting up, neither was the phone charging.
The phone gets very very very hot when plugged to charger or USB port on my computer and does not charge at all.
Tried it all, left it all day long with the battery out of the phone, tried charging without it in.. and nothing..it just gets very hot where the connectors (pins) make contact with the battery.
Now im trying to charge the battery on a cradle to flash it with stock rom and SPL to get it to warranty..
Any of you guys has any thoughts?
I see i posted in the wrong section.
Thank u mod
Do you always charge via usb into pc? Is your cradle plugged into the wall or pc? I don't know if you have done this, probably so, but check in windows settings->system->Power and inside the battery tab see if the "When phone is on, do not charge the battery when connected to a PC" is checked.

Yeah.. it crossed my mind to check for it, and that option is unchecked.
Though the charging "orange" led doesnt turn on even if the phone is off.
I usually charge it via usb->pc, allthough i tested with the wall charger and nothing.
I suspect it must have been a power surge that burnt in some way the PBC of the "charging module..thing"
Thanks for the suggestion
i'd check that none of the pins for the battery are in contact with each other if there is heat in that area.
Ok, I'm assuming then that the phone works, but just has low battery at the moment. If that's the case then it doesn't appear to be the battery or the leads. Any chance it's the cable? That of course assumes your using the same one with the cradle. I ask because my device didn't come with a wall charger, just a usb cable so I had to get a few extra plus a wall plug-in with a usb port.

Weird, but unfortunately it didn't. I think being in the US and getting the device from Telstra in Australia may be why I didn't. Well, if it is a hardware problem and you can't get it to charge from the device, I believe you can get a cradle that will allow you to charge the battery independant of the phone. I know it's not the best option on the planet, but it would get your battery where it needs to be to flash and confirm whether or not it's a charging issue with the battery itself.
Come to think of it, this did happen to me several weeks ago. I plugged the phone in before bed as usual and noticed the charging light didn't go on and the battery drained overnight from about 60% to 15%, which it shouldn't have done. Not in standby at least. Soft-reset the next day fixed it. It hasn't done it since. I was installing a bunch of things that evening, which may have been what did it.
I had a same problem with my hd2 and by some miracle and few days of pain

HD2 Doesnt charge battery, help needed! (not usb, battery fault)

Hi Guys!
I have a problem with my Htc HD2, it doesnt charge! I installed windows phone 7 nand rom to my hd2, so the connection was made and usb cable is charging, have tried it with stock Htc Wildfire. The battery is ok, because i have a battery charger and the battery is charging.
Used Magldr v1.13.
Any help would be appreciated, btw have read several topics, but no solution has found.
I don't see a problem here.
You said it doesn't charge and then you said it charges.
And the battery charges from external battery charger too.
Where is the problem?
Edit:
lol, after reading again and again I finally found your problem. But using correct grammar and correct punctuation would've made this a lot easier
Make sure that the battery pins on your phone are ok, also check the usb socket on your phone and make sure it's not faulty or malfunctioning

reading comprehension ftw.
Anyway, I had a similar problem and I found that it was the pins connecting directly to the battery, the three little ones you see when you pull the battery. Make sure there aren't bent down and smashed too much. You can still get the battery to supply power, but it wont take a charge. Anyway, hope this helps.
I had the same problem, HD2 didn't charge, the orange LED just flashed and battclock reported a temperature of 250°C. Problem was the middle battery connector, it was bent behind the battery and so it had no contact. Remove battery, try to carefully get these three connectors in correct position and try again.
Thank you so much!!!!! I thought my phone was dead then I checked this. You are my hero!!!!
I had the same problem and it was driving me crazy. I tried putting the stock ROM back on, WinMo 7, charging with the computer and USB and nothing worked, I still got the red/green blinking LED and the battery died. I bent the middle pin back to normal and now everything is working as usual.
It works for me
thanks ... joshwake
nice ICS on hd2

Well, it's hard to say what the problem is, your only way is contact HTC
I think trying the original cable may help...
but let me say, it may be it self the Hardware or OS issue. also not all HTC HD Mini are same!
I have an iPad, and I charged it to 95% and plugged USB Cable out, then I restarted the iPad and became 100%
Good luck

Long shot but verfiy that your battery pins are sitting correctly ie. that they are parallel with the back of the phone, they can get pushed outwards and cause issues such as yours.
Otherwise your usb port looks like it may be damaged!
Edit: get a wall charger and a few spare batteries on eBay for $10 , ...

thanks for the comments guys, I've checked the pins, they're ok, but the usb conector not yet... the thing is this: I've got a battery charger and a new batterys so I can turn on the phone (until now is the only way) and then when the system is fully loaded the battery % shows 93 at max (24 hours chargin) yesterday, I noticed that it was discharging a little too fast... 4 hours aprox from 93 to 11 % ... so I restarted the phone, and magically it showed 53% of battery... so I think the problem might be software/firmware, that's the reason I mentioned the change of radio version

well i try to charge my phone with small solar panel , the phone appear like charging (light on) , but it was`t , and the reason was that the small solar panel produce 4 volt and very low mile ampere (mA) , so maybe the problem with the charger (try to change it or charge through usb cable to laptop )
