Many times, when i try to download an app, the market says that i don't have space for it, and of course i have. I tried to move apps to the SD, and it still happens. I rolled back to the old market and it says that the download failed.
I can only solve it with a reboot, when i reboot, i can download lots of apps with no problem, but after some time, the error comes back and i've to reboot again
i've tried uninstalling updates, cleaning market data, etc...
I've clean JVT with semaphore kernel
how can i solve it and why this happens? it also happen with you?
And i've another question, why the market says that apps like nfl rivals are not compatible with my phone when they are? it also says that most of gameloft games are not compatible my GT-i9000
Might be a problem with a ext4 partition, this has happend to me when on voodoo lagfix and then installed another rom non-lagfixed.
Try to reinstall your rom using repartition with 512.pit file, this should help.
You should always remove any lagfixes before changing roms unless instructed otherwise.
About games compatibility... I really don't know, maybe is part of the same problem.

No, this is a market problem. It writes the downloaded files to /cache/ and sometimes does not delete old files, so there is no more space in that filesystem. Also if a apk is bigger than the size of /cache/ (~30M) it fails to install.

so, that happens because /cache gets full, and when i reboot, the phone cleans it?
it also happens with the old market 2.XX
is there any way to fix that?
The game compatibility issue seems to happen because something is wrong with build.prop . In cyanogen happened something like this, so i changed a few lines of the build.prop to make market think that my phone is a nexus S and it worked.

I have JACMan Hero r1.62, and when i install another firmware such as the JF 1.51,CyanogenMod and even SuperHero v1 i get force close for all my applications when i use apptosd.
I wipe before i update, im tired of Hero...force close like every minutes...so i want to move back to normal JF v1.51, but everytime i use apptosd the apps installs and i see the icons and everything but they force close when i tap it. But when i use apptosd on JACMAN hero i get no force close.
Help please :]
Run fix_permissions and if that doesn't work try reformatting your SDcard
sounds like permission issues
search for that.

Okay running it, lets see if it works.
I still get tons of force close after running fix_permissions.sh
it doesn't sound like a permissions error it sounds like a corrupt file system, either do a file system check using cyanogen's recovery or reformat your ext2/3 partition. if the file system check won't run it's cause you need to reformat
the force closes are coming from the apps...i think the cause may be the hero apps that are still on my SD, anyone know of a way to get rid of them easy?
Also I don't think is a corrupt file system, since all my apps works for the JACMAN builds and not for others.
and could you provide a link to cyanogen's recovery, thanks.
Bump, for helpp.

Okay i installed cyanogen's recovery and ran repair ext file system, and i got "error checking filesystem! Run e2fscl manually from console!" so i go to console and run e2fscl and now im stuck from there and have no idea what to do now.
If it failed running you have a corrupt file system, I don't care what you say you're wrong and need to reformat
Thanks.
is there a guide reformating my ext2 without destroying another gb on my sdcard?
On Dwangs latest. Darn thing wont ever work with nandroid. Had to wipe my EXT3 to recover an old image. All my apps are gone. I had most backed up via Astro.
BUT
Theres a handful that I didnt have but now the market says "Installed".
Ive tried clearing all caches and data that pertain to market. Reboots... no luck.
Is there a way to fix ?
And for future reference ..best way to backup EXT3 without ADB ?
Try downloading the apps on an online market, then installing them off the SDCard.
this should work.
remove the folder /data/data/com.android.vending
then restart. it should refresh you're market.
if all else fails. re-flash.
if removing the vending folder doesnt work, just uninstall the app, and then try re-installing it? if it says it is installed, this should work.
ALSO, if you're apps2sd wasnt automatic and you had not rebooted since your last install of a few apps, they might still be in your internal phone memory. a wipe of NAND and EXT might help resolve any problems if all else fails

So, as Froyo is slowly becoming the standard around here, I thought I would post a few workarounds for some of the problems that people are having with Froyo and the wide selections of Froyo ROMS to choose from. I put this list together, as these problems I see coming up in many of the Froyo ROM threads.
So, I ll start with a few of the most common ones, and will add to this list later.
Issue -My apps are appearing twice in the ADW apps launcher after moving them to the SD card! (Froyo apps2sd)
Workaround-It seems almost everytime I reboot the phone that Im getting the apps appearing twice. If you uninstall ADW, and then reinstall it, then it stops. So what I ve done for the time being is to install ADW new, get all the widgets and apps you want on the home screen, and then go into the restore and backup settings in ADW launcher. Make a backup of your ADW settings and of your homescreens and save those to your sd card (it does this automatically). Then, the next time you need to reboot your phone and you see double apps coming up, just go into ADW settings and "Restore" your settings for the launcher and homescreens. Then the double apps go away, your settings are retained, and your apps and widgets are back on your homescreen.
If your using the same apps and widgets all the time, its probably a good idea to do a Nandroid after you ve done this, and to save the 2 ADW save files stored on your sd card just in case you ever want to quickly restore your settings again.
Issue- Froyo apps2sd is rubbish! I only have 40mb left on internal storage! I want the old apps2sd back!!
Workaround- First off, I have to admit that at first I didn’t like the new Froyo apps2sd. But actually now, I like it more, due to the fact that you don’t need an EXT or swap (meaning MORE SPEED), AND coupled with the fact theres a very easy way to get FOUR TIMES MORE STORAGE than the 40mb (estimate for 115 apps) that you have left. The solution? Easy..all you have to do is go into your ROMS settings, and “move dalvik to cache”. To put it simply, I have 117 apps installed on my phone. After I moved them all to the sd card, I had 40mb left. I then went into the spare parts on Emonthers ROM, and enabled “dalvik on cache”. I then rebooted, and VOILA…137mb free internal space.
I cant confirm that all ROMS have this option, but if your ROM does have it, it’s the way to go. From what I ve read (please correct me if im wrong), this space is allocated mostly for OTA updates. As most of us here have root, why not use that space to free up some internal memory! After doing this, my phone is running VERY fast and smooth.
Issue- My phone keeps rebooting at the load screen! HELP!!
Workaround -This commonly occurs if you didn’t wipe properly when coming from another ROM. If this is happening to you, you ll need to:
Pull your battery to get the loops to stop
Reboot into recovery
Do a full wipe, then if you have an ext partition wipe that. Also wipe cache and dalvik settings. This is very important. Then flash your ROM. Your Bootloops should then stop. And remember, if your partioning your card, remember to REPAIR EXT PARTITIONS. This is VERY important and will save you lots of grief.
Issue- When I record video my phone reboots! HELP!
Workaround- This means you haven’t installed the Froyo radio. You ll need to be sure you have either flashed the zip version of the Froyo radio or installed the image (Cyan says installing the image is safer. Im sure hes probably right, but I can confirm I have flashed the zip version of the radio and it works fine).
Issue-I don’t know which apps to install to the sd card and which I should leave on the phone! AAARRGGHH!
Workaround- From what I have read, what you ll want to leave on the phone are:
Widgets, apps that have widgets that you use, keyboards, and system apps. I also keep my sms app on the phone, although Im sure it will work fine on the SD card.
Issue- I just flashed a new ROM, and now the app launcher is all slow! Whats up with that??
Workaround- This is most likely because your apps are being automatically redownloaded and installed. This is a feature of Android that was added to Eclaire that allows Google (with your permission) to backup your settings (apps, wifi key, ect). Give the phone a minute and you ll see in your app launcher that your apps are being added automatically! When its done, you ll get a notification that says “ “X” number of apps reinstalled. Saves you time and work, and now your launcher will stop lagging.
Issue- There are so many Froyo ROMS! Which one is the best one!??!
Workaround- This is like asking if basketball is cooler than football. In short: it’s a matter of opinion. I can however share my findings so far.
Cyan6- We all know the quality of Cyan and TeamDouches work. When there ROMS go stable, they..well…they JUST WORK GREAT. Cyans ROMS are always very detailed and COMPLETE (trackball lights, wallpapers, advanced options) Right now, for me the ROM is still very buggy, so I would give it the number 3 spot.
RoDrIgUeZsTyLe- If you like overclocking and speed, this ROM is a winner! His ROMS have a lot of kernel options and overclocking enhancements, and are fairly stable. Very recommended.
Enomther- At this very moment, this ROM takes the cake and is easily my number 1 pick. Stable, fast, TONS of enhanced features and extra settings, and I can honestly say I haven’t had one FC yet. I can understand why hes one of the top dogs here. His newest ROM has been an AWESOME Froyo experience for me, and I ll be sticking with him until Cyan goes stable.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER FROYO ROMS. THESE ARE JUST THE ONES THAT I HAD THE BEST EXPERIENCES WITH. YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE MAY VARY!! THE DEVS HERE ALL DO GREAT WORK, AND THIS IS BY NO MEANS SAYING THAT ONE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER!
Anyway, that’s all I have for now. I hope this helps out, and I ll be adding to this thread as more common problems come to me. I hope it helps someone out, and I really hope it saves our awesome devs some time from answering questions. After all, it takes time creating all the awesomeness that they bring!

Quite possibly yes. Try deleting that folder, rebooting, and then try to install. Make sure the folder doesnt reappear after reboot. If it does, try just deleting it and then downloading and installing an app.
Also, be sure to let me know if it works, so that I can add it to the thread.
thank you for the information. I would suggest that you try Leo Froyo. Very stable and full of options.

Are u using the old apps2sd or the new? I read in another thread that deleting this folder was allowing some to download apps after deleting it. I personally haven't had his problem, but ill search around to see if I can find a workaround.
Download this file here and make sure it doesn't have .txt as file ext, but .xml instead. Rename if necessary.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6602402&postcount=8
Then follow this instruction.

If it doesn't work, you most likely don't have the shared_prefs folder. So just create one.
Hope it helps. Good luck.

LOL. Yes, I know what the new Froyo apps to sd is I asked because in many of the Froyo ROMS you have the possibility to choose between the new implemented from Google apps2sd or the old style apps2sd that we seen in builds prior to Froyo.
Have you given rjhay22's suggestion a try? Please let me know if it fixes so that I can get it added to the original post.

Never seen any of these problems... Apps2SD is okay, just more apps need to support it.. I have 4-5 5M+ apps which don't, and it'd help a lot if they did. I'm sitting around 30M free after clearing browser cache with a ton of apps installed on my stock OTA.

well if you have the mod install location app you can force the option to allow apps to be moved to SD
@Dai323
haha sorry i was using froyo apps to sd. I dont think it makes any difference whether that folder is there or not unless something is entirely screwed up with a rom flash.
ive read that the solution rjahays solution will work for enomthers for sure as well as modacos rom
so with the alphaRev X i managed to get s-off, and to get all the way to getting cm7 on my phone. So that´s greath, how ever everytime i try to install something from the marked that is bigger than 4-5mb i just cancles the download, with out giving any error. Smaller apps work fine, how ever google maps, angry birds and so on. Does any got an idea how to fix this?
I had the same problem exept I couldn't download ANYTHING. Try flashing another Kernel, that's what fixed it.
I tried this one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995301

witch of the kernels did you use? and did you use it with cm7 ? i got a feeling its a cache folder that is messed up. not something kernel releated.
this worked:
1. Backup SD Card
2. Partition your SD Card with Rom Manager (I used 512mb/64mb swap)
3. Install Simple2Ext (You can find it in the Android Market)
4. Open Simple2Ext and toggle on 'Download Cache'.
5. Now, reboot your phone and you should be able to install Angry Birds/Maps/Other big apps.

Edit your build.prop and change the screen density to 160.
I have the exact same issue and have tried all the "solutions" I have found, nothing so far helps.
I'm running of an SD, CM7 nightly from August 28, one of the later kernels.
Everything works fine except this #$%^$ market.
Ideas?
Since none of my apps seem to be affected by screen density I simply uninstalled the marker updater app and kept the old market. If you are already on the new market. Uninstall the updater app first and then go into the applications settings for the market and uninstall the last update. Clear the data and cache as well.

Can you direct me to what needs to be changed in build.prop? Thanks.
There should be a line that says
Code:

Just change the number to 160.
I did that, thought there might have been some other line to be edited there that they weren't mentioning. Thanks.

Start up the Terminal. Become Superuser by typing "su" and return.
Remount /system as read/write by typing:
mount -o remount,rw /system
Edit /system/build.prop and change qemu.sf.lcd_density=161 to be 160.
Then go to Applications, force-close Market and clear all its data (but do not uninstall).
Then reboot.
If this still did not work, search the Internet for the latest Google Apps zip from August, 2011. If you have Rom Manager it's the newest one listed under "Download ROM...Google Apps" window. It's even newer than what is offered on download sites that have Phiremod or CM 1.7 RC.
When Market first starts it might ask you to install a list of apps. Choose a couple of them. I've observed that Market will then automatically upgrade itself again when I do this. I've been using the newest Market app with the 160 DPI setting for about a week now and it has never stopped working. I suspect that it might be the newest Google Apps that fixes some of the magic.
Note that some things, like the on-screen keyboard, have letters that are too large due to this setting. It's really supposed to be set to 170 DPI but 160 DPI is the setting that makes the Market app work again.

Thanks. I did finally see it there after I installed Root Explorer. Having access to everything on the NC, it makes me want to root my phone.
This is probably the same problem I have experienced.
Yesterday I install CM7 bootable to a new SD card I just bought. After everything installed, I found that several essential google apps, like maps, youtube, are not able to install. Market complains that my device is not compatible.
However, these apps run properly in my old SD card. The Market from the old card has been updated, and it seems it's working properly as well. I'll check the DPI setting on both card. I don't think they are different because I installed both card through the same build.
Question: how to clone the entire old card to my new card? They are from different brand, old Kingston and new Sandisk. I've used WinImage32 to clone the Kingston to the Sandisk, but it doesn't boot at all.
