and buy shut down you mean physically power off? or the screen turn off?
Cuz if its just the screen that is normal, its the proximity sensor

Its weird, I haven't had this problem on any other android phone, its happened twice in the last 24 hours. I'm completely stock. Unrooted

I can count on one hand the number of phone calls I've been on since I got the thing, but I haven't had it shut down on me any of those times.
I've had it happen every time when rooted and had apps. I went back to no apps and still had it happen. I went back to stock 2.3.1 via the nandroid around here and locked it back up, still doing it.
The only thing I didn't test was 2.3 vs 2.3.1 but I do believe it started happening to me, at least, when going to 2.3.1, now that I think about it.
I have this problem but rarely. It will reboot the phone show the nexus startup screen without the backlit LED. Is that whats happening to you?

Same here, and I have used every T-Mobile Android phone to date, never seen anything like this before! This is the only phone I haven't rooted yet, not sure what the issue is...
It only happened once so I didn't think anything of it.
I didn't know it was a common problem.
Btw I will be exchanging my phone cuz this one has done really annoying bugs, like freezing in between homescreen slides and apps constantly fc during use

ya i havent made very many calls, but thats why it kind of concerns me. i have probablly made 10 calls and i think its rebooted 3-4 times while on the call or at the end of the call. i wonder if its a bug with the phone app?
did you root the phone or something ? if its still on stock firmware like how you bought it, then try to restore factory sittings, if its still doing that you then you have a I/O chip problem. and you will need to replace your phone.
thats what the HTC care told me when my HD2 used to have this issue

I would believe it was hardware if it happened randomly, but for phone calls only, that sounds like software.

Happened to me just now. Stock 2.3.1 with an international call.
I'm not rooted, I just cleared data for the dialer app and cleared cache on the whole system, we'll see if that does anything. Good thing I rarely use my phone for making calls or I'd be pissed

Calling on it's own!

Interested in knowing if anyone else had this problem?
I got a call from a friend this evening, (he called me) when the call ended I hung up. Then the phone tried to cal him back. I ended it and it happened another 6 times until I powered off the phone.
This has never happened before. Very strange !

Yes this is weird!
Any "callback" applications installed on the phone?
Stock rom or custom rom ??

In settings / call settings / voice call, check if auto redial is checked. If it is maybe your phone got mixed up and tried to redial. It usually does when it has a connection problem.

Sorry for the delay in getting back.
No auto dialers, stock rom and auto redial is off.
This has not happened since I posted this topic but I am keeping an eye on it.

these wierd one-off probs are like the only reason why iOS is considered more stable and rocksolid, just wish a day comes when v have a super stable android version!!
This happened to me too a couple of times. I'm on doc rom. 9.66

Double hello/2 second delay when answering an incoming call on Nexus 4

This lag when answering an incoming call on Nexus 4 is really annoying. Regardless of which ROM.
Could it be network related or the device itself?
I am on T-Mobile. Anyone else on T-Mo experiencing this issue?
nope. what kernel are you using.
Yep. There was a thread about it a few weeks ago.

There was a recent commit to CM that may help this, it allowed for opening of the audio stream before the RIL had notified that the call was connected.

I didn't have this issue with G2 so I'm not used to answer lag. I can live with it I guess.
Used to happen on my desire HD think it is a jelly bean thing
I have also used giffgaff sim and Vodafone both do the same
Really annoying and such a simple thing should be sorted!
Glad other people have posted this cause I thought it was just me lol

I also think it has something to do with jellybean.. Had the same issue with any aosp ROM on my gs3...

I don't usually moan but its such a simple feature for a mic to work instantly
They must know about it ?

having the same problem, it's driving me mad .....
It's not a nexus 4 nor jelly bean only issue. My wife's iphone 4 has the same issue, hello hello bug... Seems like a network, tower delay.. And it seems new.. At least my previous phones on the same service provider didn't have this..

+1 have say hello like 3 times .
I noticed its usually after the phone marks 3-4 seconds that's when the other person hears you...what can we do about this?
My Lil bro inlaw and my moms are all on the same account but they have a amaze and a sgs2. They don't have that problem...

same here, any update on this ?
Just chiming in - same problem here on carrier TDC in Denmark, stock ROM.
There's a bug report on it here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42525
So annoying, can't believe there aren't more ppl complaining about this :/
Stock rom + Franco Kernel here on rev 11
Having the same issues. Didn't notice this with my first nexus 4 got a replacement and every incoming call has a two to three second delay.
I have the same problem, it is very annoying, had plenty of smartphones before and none of them had this issue. Galaxy Nexus was my previous device and there was no delay. With Nexus 4 there is a delay and it is device related, or at least device combined with T-Mobile.
Seems like nobody at google uses this device, everyone just acts dumb like you are the only person experiencing the issue if you complain about it.
Just got the update to 4.2.2, and it seems to have fixed this problem for me.
Tested it a few times by calling the Nexus 4 from a land line, and voice came through almost instantly every time. At least as fast as you can lift the phone up to your ear after answering.

I wish I could help but mine is doing the same thing. I'm on CM11 nightly though so I thought it might be that.
Any help out there?

Have you guys tried a full wipe with a factory reset? Also testing the device before bringing back any apps you have backed up? Sometimes you do a full wipe only to bring the problem back with a backup.

My phone is having the same issue. I've rooted and installed many different ROMs. The last one I tried called Beanstalk installed with all the sound working properly but on the first reboot, the problem came back. I tried wiping an re-installing but the problem is still there, so it seems to be the luck of the draw. There is an app called Soundabout which you can install to route the sound to the speakers, but you would then have to go into the app to route the sound back to the headphones when you need. Very strange. I've seen many posts on different boards of people with the same issue but no true fix. I need to find a good android developer who knows the code well that could probably figure this out...but who that man could be I just don't know...
Are you still facing the problem?
