Swype: making it "thinner"

I purchased in Singapore a Samsung Tablet P1000
Froyo 2.2
current version: PDA: JK2
Phone: JJ2
CSC: JJ2
It has built-in swype, version 2.5.45.11222
I have titanium Backup pro and also I have rooted my tab
1.
Is there a way to:
- unistall malaysia, indonesia, vietnam, Korean languages?
2.
Is it possible to
- install italian language?
3.
Is it possible to upgrade to the latest version (with voice recognition and input), which is 2.30? How to do?

I have to say that I browse the market, for swype, but found nothing which could help.
I also googled extensively here, on xda-developers, and on the web...
Any hints or suggestions are highly appreciated!

You need to go to swyps site to download it but they say do not if your device has is installed ootb

2. I have checked: there is NO download area in www.swype.com...
Even if unistall (using Titanium Backup) my swype 2.5 version, I doubt I can download the proper version.

You will have to use the swype app that came with your tab.You will not be able do download it from the market, and even if you had a beta version ( like I do) you will not be able to install it because it will not support the screen resolution of the tab. I tried myself and had to reflash the FW in order to get Swype back ( I had deleted the OEM version with titanium backup.

You will need to flash your tab with a european Rom, my suggestion is to flash JJ4 and then JK5, but do your homework before flashing anything.

My concerns are:
1. The European swype will have many languages, including Italian, But then I would like to install CHINESE (which I do use daily)...so the problem will be:
- how to install new languages on EUROPEAN ROM?
2. can you please feedback whether the EUROPEAN ROM is 2.9 version? (with voice input)?
3. European ROM: can you post me a link to download with instructions?
my phone is rooted, so I guess I can do the upgrade>
4. Why you have unistalled with Titanium Backup? Why not use the "freeze application" function? So you could revert the stock built-in swype...right?
5. Will European ROMS be bootload LOCKED as it is rumored here in Asia?

Same problem here on JME.. I came from JM5 and everything was fine, now I got this tiny swype keyboard wich is kinda useless.. Wish I have saved the swype.apk installation file.. If anyone is on PJX or JMK, could u please update ur swype.apk somewhere?? if not allowed, just pm me, thanks...

Oh Cool bro. Simply u need to have Root Explorer or I think Astro should do the job too, then all u have to do is copy the file /system/app/Swype.apk into another folder of ur Gtab, then mount the Gtab to ur computer and upload it somewhere... PM me the link in order to avoid any complaints

Btw just realized u have got a different problem than mine.. Anyways, I don't care about not having Italian language installed, as long there's english US or UK..
However, the latest euro firmwares for the GTAB has got boot loader locked, but rotohammer has done a great job by cleaning the bootloader, I dunno what exactly he did though, probs he reverted the new bootloader with the old one.
Although I am not sure if Asian firmwares has got the same locked bootloader, you should ask this on the development section .

I have swype 2.10.52.13753 , and I can confirm that has the Italian AND the chinese language. NO Voice input.
You can refer to this thread for flashing your tab to JJ4>JK5 . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847273 JK5 is a good stable ROM , but if you want to get the latest ( with NO bootoader upgrade and trouble , refer to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894763
I do have the "tiny swype" when in landscape mode, but I frankly do not thing it's a problem, I believe that it's even better. The whole concept of swype is to swype across the keyboard, why would you want to swype a longer path when in landscape mode. Sure it's better to have a larger keyboard when you hit single buttons, but then you DO NOT need a swype keyboard for that.

Ok I been able to mount the factoryfs.rfs image of the JMK5 fw and copird the swype.apk into my GTAB now running on JME, and once it was installed the swype keyboard started crashing until I shut it down, and once I turned it back on the old swype keyboard just installed was been replaced with the current new one of JME.

Yes tiny swype (small-size) in landscape mode I also believe is much better than large size! Easier to swype.
I wish to have a try to your ROM which includes swype built-in 2.10 with Italian + US + Chinese Languages.
Can you please confirm:
1. swype is builtin in your ROM. Right? Or did you download later?
2. which one is exactly your ROM? And where to download it?
BTW If bootloader is frozen is NOT a big issue to me, since once I got swype (built-in) I will be quite satisfied.

I do not have the answer to yr question because I do not use kies. But the point is that you will be waaay more up-to-date reading this forum than waiting for kies to suggest you a firmware upgrade !!! This what this community is all about. Be sure that an 'official' update will be out way later than a 'leaked' version on this forum.

[Q] Flashing ROM on Acer neotouch S200

Hello, I bought on the german e-bay a mobile device called Acer neotouch s200, which is in german language without other languages like english, etc... I have read that if I want to get english language, I need to (re)flash it. Currently, the device has S200_3.003c.00_DE ROM. I do not know exactly if it is better to get the default ROM or the newest. To flash it, I downloaded Acer S200 beta 3 flashing tool, ran Acer_EUU.exe, but it stopped before updating the device (this was made on my desktop computer with Windows XP). I also tried it on my laptop with Windows 7, but the Acer_EUU.exe "stopped working". Can you please give me any advice how to solve my problem? I read it is better to get the default ROM, because it reduce the battery status, but it has got bugs.

- After flashing the updated Acer ROM, I checked the version number, which was CE OS 5.2.21883 (Build 21883.5.0.783). The earlier version was Build 21857.5.0.66. The new version seems to run faster than the old version. Here is what I think were the problems with the older version 21857.5.0.66:
- The old firmware does not do a Clean Boot very well.
- The old firmwave has problems connecting to the Acer update.
Arto's ROM overcame these two problems, which meant that I can use it as a temporary bridge to the updated Acer ROM.

Yes, for this "3.003c.00_EN_01" rom you should have language set ton EN_01 in your registry. ;-]

You'll find two keys: ExtROMVer and Language
For each key, Change your language occurence to "EN_01".

Get machine into bootloader mode, Red led flashing. Key sequence:
Camera + Volume down + Reset
Previous key sequence won't work for me. (Camera+Power+Reset)

Finally I flashed my device using the Arto's Sense rom, but now the device is really slow and some options are restricted. I also cannot change the display settings, so it is sometimes bright and sometimes dark. G-Sensor does not work, phone lags a lil bit. Is there any way how to get the DEFAULT stock firmware (with english language of course)? I copied the downloaded firmware from ftp: ftp.acer-euro (the oldest) to directory called Acer beta flashing tool where is also included Acer_EUU.exe and other stuff for flashing... and flashed it. After flash the welcome screen says I have the old firmware, but there is the same theme like before and the OS version did not change. I thought the newest, cooked firmware is very good & fast and works without any problems but this really sux. imho the default will be definitely the best :>

First of all, you have followed bad/wrong advice from an idiot who quoted an old post about arto's sense "2.1" when in reality, sense roms and s200 rom developement in general has far surpassed 2.1 and acer stock firmware!!!!
according to your first post you already had the latest "stock" firmware w/3.003c drivers so all you needed to do was flash one of the many "clean roms" labled "WWE".
Second, the S200 will always have bugs because of WM6.5 that's why cooked roms are made to overcome most of the limitations of our device!! Inchu though
wrong about almost everything was right about one thing,"READ BEFORE YOU START A NEW THREAD" because right beneath your post is an entire universe of
info,roms,flashing info and all things s200!!! including one labled "Arto's sense 4.0" if you bothered to look you would find a change log with a chronological listing of Arto's sense from 1.0,1.1,etc...

ehm, your file is called "Name: OS_Acer_3.003c.01.EN.02_WM65_A.zip " which refers to a newer firmware, right? Anyway, i have to repeat myself: "I need default stock firmware, the oldest with EN" (and in my opinion it is probably called 2.003, yy?)

Then you are clearly in the wrong place because this is the "Neotouch S200 Rom Development" section not Acer.com (http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/download.htm which is where all things "official" or"stock" can be found!!!
And you are so wrong about the custom roms here they are light years ahead of the bug filled original acer rom!!!
But since you have only tried an older version custom rom still in development (as the change log indicates) and decided that all custom roms are buggy w/out having tried them then maybe you deserve the original acer firmware!
custom roms are made to correct problems in the stock firmware.

I had it before with unsuitable languange (fw version was 3.003c). Now I want the same, just with english. If I use the fimwares from acer webpage then I have the same theme (& and the display is still dark, cannot change some options, etc..)

anyone please can you upload the new swype?? here???? i can't install it via the official installer.. it gives me the problem there is a problem parsing this package.. tried several numerous times... but still failed!!! so can anyone please upload the new swype here???? i can't live it without my gf and the new swype!h hehehehehe plz!!!!!!!!!

Even if someone uploads it won't work cuz it needs to be licenced ..
you're getting the parsing error that means the download was incomplete ..
Try again it will work and make sure you don't do anything else on the phone till the download is completed..

I have it but only in English UK. You can search for other language versions on google and add them to it using Krillos' guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143427) to installing languages to swype. Just be sure to look for the same version of swype when you do it .

[Q] Dictionaries in 4.4 "KitKat"

Hi everyone!
Im new to this forum and (posting) but i have been reading here for ages, and i have really been struggling to find an answer to this.
I have been using 4.3 ever since it came out, and i love it, but i would really like to upgrade to 4.4 since, i like to be up to date with the newest features etc.
But i have located a minor problem with all the 4.4 builds i have tried, (PSX, Rastakat and Stock image) the dictionary for my language, Danish is not available.
In 4.3 when i marked Danish as the language for the keyboard, it would automatically download the dictionary and apply it, it does not do that in 4.4 and therefore it is pretty useless..
I know i can install a different keyboard, but really i have been using the AOSP one for ages, and like it the most, so if someone have a trick to get this working i would be really happy!
I believe this is also a problem for other languages besides Danish, but i have not been able to find any solutions, can some one help me?

I'm not sure if this is the case, but I had a similar problem after going from stock 4.3 to Paranoid Android. There was no option for my language (Lithuanian). But when I flashed a different gapps package the language was available

I have actually not tried that, although i have flashed BANKS GAPPS along with the rastakat signed one, but im not sure if thats actually the same, i will try to flash with PA GAPPS
