Archos 101 and SU update - Gen8 General

Got my tablet from repair, feels that touchscreen is not responding like old one did.. they swapped my broken one to this, because old had broken usb port.
well anyway, rooted this using churi binaries and now SU notifies that there are new version and gives option to upgrade.. but it doesnt work and upgrade option cant find path to su binary.
Anyone have fix to this??

I will have a look into this

If I start the superuser application, go to "Options" and tap the ".. check for updates" it says "checking..." but nothing happens then

Sorry about pic, somehow archos screenshot is upside down and had no picture editor to turn it.
Anyway.. had several updates in market and error changed.
Now it says version is 'Legacy' and still path is 'fail'

upsidedown screenshot is normal as archos mounted the display upsidedown
if it says "legacy" your su binary might be missing, are you able to run any root-required app?
try to reboot your device, the custom initramfs you installed from me should automatically restore the su binary.
one question: why is it necessary to update the su binary? any bugfixes, new features?
edit: atm the superuser app su binary update mechanism seems to be broken (see current comments in market)

latest su seems to be fixed. I analyzed the problem and it's caused by an old busybox version used in Archos firmware. Installing newest busybox from Market (https://market.android.com/details?id=stericson.busybox) does NOT solve the problem.
I will contact ChainsDD with a patch, so the Superuser app will be able to update the su binary on our devices too.

In a couple of days, there will be a new version of the Superuser app which will solve this problem: https://github.com/ChainsDD/Superuser/pull/38#issuecomment-2498421

thanks chulri

Noticed new SU version, because every time it's used.. I'll get annoying notification to statusbar, asking to upgrade SU.
No biggie.. just annoying feature that didn't work.

@pki101 you can disable the notification in the settings of the superuser app

nope, cant disable notification.

anyways, it should be solved with the newest Superuser application which is also served with the new root package for the new Archos firmware (this will only work if you erase /mnt/sytem/unionfs )

Is it solved yet?

when i first start the app it asks for superuser permissions i allow and check the allow always button. so i'm 98% sure i'm good there. i have no idea why this will not work. any ideas??
Ive never had this problem, only when my phone was not rooted..
Hmm.. have u tried the regular stuff? Uninstall, reinstall, reboot, etc?
*This was posted from my Evo 4G using Tapatalkpro! Great app, if you want to browse and post through many dfferent forums*
Are you sure that you uninstalled the previous versions before you installed new ones? And if you installed a rom with it already installed, then used something like Titanium Backup and it restored Wireless tether, that can cause issues
yessir, i've uninstalled/installed every version of wifi router from oldest to current. i've also tried reloading my ROM 3 times with a different release each time.
the bizarre part is when i first got my evo i used unrevoked until i learned about full rooting and until then, my wifi router worked flawlessly. it's when i did the full root and nand unlock and installed OMJ's rom(with wifi built in) that the app quit working.
try this......
If you have root permissions, but still cannot start tethering, it may be an issue with either the tethering binaries or your tethering settings. From the main tether screen, try going to Menu->Setup->Menu->Reinstall binaries/configs.
when i hit menu from the main tether screen i get Settings, Access Control, Show Log and About.
So menu, then setup, once setup is open hit menu again and the option will pop up.let me know if it works.

Update your SuperUser Permissions app. ROM Manager has that, and you can find it on here.

btw METAMORPH WORKS!!

YOU MAY NEED THE NEW OTA (can someone confirm) i know this kinda belongs in the theme section but.... it works will post pics
here is one that i found that worked: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752088
when it tells you to reboot click yes! It does a soft boot so the theme stays.
requires temproot. I found that many Nexus one themes work

To all those having problems - is busybox installed correctly? Last I checked it was a major requirement of metamorph.

Has nobody problems with the program? There are 16 dowloads on the day i released it here on XDA. (The other day's i can not see).
Anyway i have a question. How can i detect with a adb command of the device is rooted or busybox is installed. Problem is i have only a "X10 pro mini" with CM7. And can not try to install busybox because it is already pre-installed. Otherwise in the programfolder you have a script folder (for adb shell). If somebody has a script that install busybox, I would be very happy that someone can share that with me .

I'm on the move so I can't give you a full answer yet. But one option to see if Busybox is installed is to try to pull it. If you can't, then it's not there.
Version 0.2.1 released and is stable. Press thanks if you liked it .
(please :/....)
Ok just uploaded a new version. I updated my phone to ICS and was wondered that my application is incompatible with it. Now it must work fine. Only problem i don't now of it still works on GB. Can sombody test it out for me.
No update for this software?

[Q] ADB connection problem - Device Offline

This is weird. I never had this problem with my Galaxy S3.
I've enabled USB Debugging on the phone.
Even toggled it off, rebooted and turned it on again.
I've also rebooted my computer and even updated SDK Toolkit.
No change in problem though.
Every time I try to connect to my phone from ADB, it just tells me the device is offline (see attached pic).
Any ideas?

Try this
http://www.wugfresh.com/faqs/how-to-fix-adb-device-is-listed-as-offline-on-android-4-2-2/
And if you do a Google search for
how to fix adb device offline
It comes up with other things to try
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk HD
Thanks, I tried the info in that link but never got the pop-up asking for ADB permissions.
I did google prior to posting also. I listed in my OP what I tried (which is what my googling suggested).
I'm about to ODIN back to factory stock anyways. So I'll try again after that. Maybe I messed something up during all the bloatware removal I did yesterday.
Nope, a fresh ODIN install of stock ROM didn't help at all.
Guess I'll have to uninstall & reinstall Android Toolkit maybe.
EDIT:
Using Motochopper root tool, I finally got the popup. And made sure to select "always allow from this computer". I think that should fixit.
EDIT #2:
Nope, that didn't help at all. Still "offline".
EDIT #3:
Actually, using the ADB from Motochopper does work. It's just the ADB from my Android Toolkit that doesn't work.
Sounds like one in android tool kit is out of date
Try updating the android sdk

Need help about this weird issue

hi everyone,

That is weird. Zygote is an Android daemon that is used to launch apps. It shouldn't be requesting su permissions from the user. Do you give it permission or do you deny? Are you on a custom ROM?

thanks for responding, I'm on stock Rom and I allways deny permission without any issue in launching apps, everything is smooth without errors. I did some researches on that case, and I've found that it was impossible for Zygot to ask for root permission, so I guess it's just a malware, but it's not detected with Avast Pro, I'm really confused
Do you install apps from anywhere other than the playstore? Maybe you need to wipe and reinstall stock through TWRP. It can be hard to find malware by hand.

Yep I Have some alternative shops, I suspected that they were the gate from wich the malware came from so I deleted all of them except Aptoid, but the Evil is already inside now. BTW a wipe is not even to considered since I don't have time to reinstall and reconfigure more than 30 handy tool apps (drive droid, Exposed and its modules, lucky patcher and many more .....). thanks for caring, anyway I'll try to uninstall suspected apps and see.
Good luck.
