Really high battery drain - Galaxy S II General

Ok, so I'm on 2.3.4 and have the extended 2000 mah battery, but my battery drain was still pretty high. In 4 hours with barely some usage at all (maybe like 10 minutes), it drained 20% of my battery. I recall that like 40% went to "phone standby" (or "cell standby"? I'm on the dutch language so I'm not really sure).
I was connected to the internet but usually with G (GPRS, right?) connection.
I also don't use live wallpapers, or even any widgets (except the extended controls widget).
I think IM+ was running but I can't imagine it draining so much battery.

I am getting around 56 hours with auto sync on all the time and wifi on all the time during the day.. Lots of other apps like gmail, IM+, Nitrodesk are also live all the time..
I am on 2.3.5

2.3.5 is much much better for battery.
Of course IM+ is bad for battery if its running the whole time, it constantly pings chat services to check for replys/new messages. Ive found messaging apps like IM+ and whatsapp to be the cancer of the battery life world. So I dont use them anymore, I just use sms...

I hope 2.3.5 will indeed improve my battery life that much.

What's eating your battery?

Here are my results for today (so far)...
Battery percentage remaining - 41%
13h 33m 9s since unplugged
voice calls- 1h 11m 27s. - 62%

I thought the battery life was questionable at first but now I realize that it was because was 'playing' with it CONSTANTLY. I guess the "new" has worn off and I used it more like a Phone today and my battery use seems good compared to previous smart phones I have owned.
What's eating your battery?
at 17h, 25m im at 61% with
display at 42%
Phone standby and idle at 22% each.
Ive been home sick so my phone hasn't been used much.

solved my problem i think
I've had problems with my 3g connection being quite choppy and only getting 1 or 2 bars since I got the phone. It must have been using a lot of juice in it's struggle to maintain 3g. I changed the setting to 2g networks only a week ago and Ive had a great connection to the Edge network. My battery now has 60% or more at 5p with a good amount of use. Before I would have to be charging my phone at 5p. Im looking into the issue some more.

Possibly the best reported batt life?

ok 27 hours since unplugged.... and 71% BATTERY LIFE? mind you display was used 1hr 58 mins too and brightness is set to auto not lowest setting or anything!
WIFI was on for a total of 17 of those 27 hours tho
WIFI POLICY SET TO NEVER SLEEP
GPS OFF
USE WIRELESS NETWORKS ON
Baked snack rom 1.3 set cpu is clocked at 1.2ghz out of a possible 1.3ghz
2 google accounts 1 syncing emails the other syncing contacts & calendar
facebook is syncing every 24 hours
Drm not present in this baked snack rom 1.3
The proof is in the pudding people WIFI is a HUGE!!!!HUGE!!!! battery saver
we are talking an easy 300% better battery over 3g! at 27 hours I would be at about 25% or less not 71%

nice but try it with pure 3g ?
Very nice indeed but our phone uses the old 3g radio instead of rev0 so our battery will doe quicker which id why wifi is a huge difference.

recall! lol
In other words, you are saying the battery doesn't die quickly if you don't use it as a phone, and don't turn it on?
You can still make phone calls and send/receive text when 3g is off.
Doing this will save battery life noticeably.I was turning it off, before the last update.
Battery life was horrible then. Installed a data/3g off and on widget to do this easy.
After the last update, battery life was awesome and I did not have to do this anymore. But I still have the widget, in case I get into a situation that I cannot charge the phone and I will use this method to conserve power
I never tried the wifi thingy though
This is mixed use of 3g and wifi. Beat that...

FroYo V4.1 w/ SBC 4.2.2 Kernal on Boost Mobile battery life

Been about 2 hours since unplugged and been on 3G, played maybe 5 minutes of Angry Birds, 2 emails, 2 2 minute phone calls, few texts and browsing the android market for about 10 minutes. I'm now at 84%
Compared to the rest of you guys out there, what would you call this? Eh, so-so, decent, great, outstanding? So far anyway.
Keep in mind my RADIO and PRL have not been changed from factory since the phone has been switched over to Boost Mobile and I don't wanna lose settings since I had to pay to do so originally.

Check your Display on time, divide that by 2, add number of hours off a charger. That's how many percent of battery you should have used since unplugging (with average use between, calls, web browsing, texts, game playing etc.)
In other words, using display/cpu (with autobrightness and apps which don't consume ridiculous amount of cpu time, like 3d games) consumes about 0.5% per minute. The standby usage with 3g on will consume <1% per hour.
Anything larger than those figures, and you have a problem.
I got it. Does the Display on reset itself once a charger has been plugged in? I originally took my phone off charge around 1:10 this afternoon, plugged it in for a very brief moment (2 minutes) to put a .apk on my SDcard. I noticed my "time since off charger" reset, so does the same apply for the Display?
So it does. I'll do a full charge over night and report back.
does your 4g connection work? or you get a sprint web site?

Good standby battery, poor screen time

HI there. My battery life on my SM-N900 is very frustrating. Previously, I used a iPhone 5s and people told me that android was much better and has excellent battery life. Right now, I don't really like android because my iPhone battery lasted 5 hours of SOT. I purchased a used note 3 n900 which is apparently less than 2 years old (original owner purchased in late 2013 or early 2014).
I currently use the Dr. Ketan L24 rom. Both this rom and the stock 5.0 TW rom have bad battery life. When I turn the screen off, the battery life is very very fine and sometimes even goes up a little by itself. I left the device for 3-4 hours and the battery actually went up 1 percent!
The minute I turn the screen on, my battery is drain. I only get 3-4 hours of screen on time. I hear some people receive 5-7 hours of SOT.
I've tried so many different methods, including wiping the cache partition from recovery, factory reset, disabling system apps (all Samsung bloatware) with titanium backup pro, disabling wakelocks, alarms and services using Amplify, Disable sync, location, and having low brightness. I also have low power mode turned on the entier time.
I also don't use mobile data so that's always turned off. I use Greenify to greenify many of my apps, including facebook, messenger, instagram, etc. I have also used apps such as GSAM battery monitor and Wakelock detector and better battery stats. None of these apps show out of the ordinary behaviour.
The only thing left for me to do is to purchase a new battery, but before i do that I would like to see if I can fix my battery life throuh software. If someone could explain why my SOT battery life is so low, it would be much appreciated!

Anyone knows how to stop phone idle eating battery?

I recently bought the lg g6 h870 for europe and i saw that phone idle is eating like 46-50% and android os is eating like 22-25%.This morning i saw that phone idle ate like 75%.Is that even normal.I have to mention that i am on july security patch due to the lack of updates for europe.Anybody knows how to stop phone idle using that much,or i have to wait untill oreo?

We have to wait. This is most likely because of Android 7.0 idle battery drain bug which causes "Phone idle" to be very high and battery-hungry.
I have tried greenify and i have location turned off wifi off bluetooth nfc all are off and i am still getting like 77% phone idle and 22 percent android os while screen is eating only 20% and other apps 2-7%.I am really getting desperate.

Yes, as I mentioned, 7.0 is bugged and there are loads of similar topics not only here, on G6 forum, but also on Nexus, Samsung, Sony forums.
Most of them are connected with "Phone idle" issue.

That's nice mine consumes over 2000Mah over the same amount of time.
Hi all, got H870DS model a week ago and on the first run used LG Mobile Switch as suggested by the device. Transferred all data and settings from G4, all good, didn't take very long. The first 48 hours were quite bad: 2-3% of battery every hour when idling.
Tried Greenefy, all those things, but with no root - poinless. Tried phone hidden menu as well.
Then I downloaded and applied one of the latest HK firmware - still the same.
Note that all this time the phone had no SIM, but was connected to WiFi with all social apps running on background.
Then I decided to go long way: back to factory settings and update the phone in portions. Log in Google account, basic apps - and leave the phone for 2-3 hours. Another 2-3 apps and wait again.
Last ones - social and messengers: one by one, like on the minefield. Folio used instead of FB.
Result: 0% drain overnight. 1% used in the last 14 hours.
Happy with that.
Not sure what kind of settings were transferred from G4 to G6, but that obviously was the reason (in my case) for the drain.
