solved my problem i think
I've had problems with my 3g connection being quite choppy and only getting 1 or 2 bars since I got the phone. It must have been using a lot of juice in it's struggle to maintain 3g. I changed the setting to 2g networks only a week ago and Ive had a great connection to the Edge network. My battery now has 60% or more at 5p with a good amount of use. Before I would have to be charging my phone at 5p. Im looking into the issue some more.

Really high battery drain

Ok, so I'm on 2.3.4 and have the extended 2000 mah battery, but my battery drain was still pretty high. In 4 hours with barely some usage at all (maybe like 10 minutes), it drained 20% of my battery. I recall that like 40% went to "phone standby" (or "cell standby"? I'm on the dutch language so I'm not really sure).
I was connected to the internet but usually with G (GPRS, right?) connection.
I also don't use live wallpapers, or even any widgets (except the extended controls widget).
I think IM+ was running but I can't imagine it draining so much battery.
I am getting around 56 hours with auto sync on all the time and wifi on all the time during the day.. Lots of other apps like gmail, IM+, Nitrodesk are also live all the time..
I am on 2.3.5

2.3.5 is much much better for battery.
Of course IM+ is bad for battery if its running the whole time, it constantly pings chat services to check for replys/new messages. Ive found messaging apps like IM+ and whatsapp to be the cancer of the battery life world. So I dont use them anymore, I just use sms...
I hope 2.3.5 will indeed improve my battery life that much.

Cant wait to get my 2000mah battery

[Q] Kernel is Consuming 80% of the Battery

Hi there. Could anyone check what is wrong with my phone please? I had it at 100% at around 1pm today. Been using WIFI at the office(no data btw), internet browsing for about 5 minutes every hour, screen brightness always at 20%. Good phone radio signal. However, I noticed something is wrong. I a bit surprised it already consumed 30% of power in a matter of 2 hours. It usually consumes 20% battery every 5 hours, and that includes 5 minutes of Clash of Clans, 10 minutes of net browsing and FB in an hour. But today I just let it sit on the table and check the drain. It's like losing 1% every 5 to 10 minutes:

My charging habit though, I let it go down between 10% to 20% before I charge, sometimes I forget to pull it from the socket for 30 minutes (do all modern gadgets have safety off feature?), and sometimes I charge it to full even if it has still 60% remaining. I got the phone last November 8. It shouldn't be discharging this fast, right?
To the charging part: you can charge your phone whenever you want! the only thing that these batteries dont like is getting it under 15% and letting it charging after it reached 100% for too long but no matter if you have 60% or 20% you can charge it

But why is it draining too fast while on wifi only?
Anyone? Been searching the net but couldn't find any answers.
If nothing helps, try performing a factory reset.
The weird thing is, this happens only when i am using the office wifi. At home, i get only 3% drain overnight.
Look at "Held Awake". Use BetterBatteryStats to find out which app doesnt allow your phone to sleep.

I had the same problem on my work wifi and it was because of the way the wireless access point is set up. The router sends broadcast msgs to all the clients, sort of a keep-alive ping, therefore draining your battery, since the phone responds to those broadcast msgs and it never allows the wifi to enter power save mode or sleep.

[Q] Battery Calculation Broken?

This has happened multiple times on my Galaxy s4. Today was the worst however. My phone was on 51% battery (supposedly) and then, the phone just turns off while I was in an app, without any kind of low battery warning, it was running as normal before this happened, I start the phone up again and bam, 1% battery remaining. Here it is on the battery screen:

My battery was dead by 2pm in the day which is also significantly worse than normal. This is with just 45 minutes screen on time:
and just 7 hours on battery:
And with no apps sucking up battery life.
Has anyone had this issue before and is there any possible way to fix this?
Charge to 100%. Pull battery. Put it back in and charge it again while off to 100%. If that doesnt fix it then get a new battery.

Hi ,
It could be lots of things...battery , phone not going in deep sleep , settings
First thing I would do is use an app like Better Battery Stats and really see what is going on ( kernel wakelocks) , who is keeping the phone up all the time , then i would review all my settings like FB , mail , location ...any syncing related app that may be going crazy and of course battery may be going bad
Look like a bad/faulty battery for me.

Keep in mind that battery percentage is never 100% accurate. All devices with batteries (with a percentage meter) has this.
But yeah, use better battery stats to check wakelocks.
Also a trick to calibrate the fuel gauche chip is to take out the battery for 3-5 minutes. It will be more calibrated than before.

Incorrect Battery Reporting | % Skipping | Dead @ 12%

Battery would fall 2% on the screen, it shows in battery reporting you can see the line drops steeply within 1 minute then stays stable (ignore the part where my device was asleep).
been very inaccurate with reporting % it randomly died at 12% (lowest its been since i got it 3 weeks ago) and when i power back on its at 2%. i charged back up to 40% and let it drop to 12% and the same happened.
i could live with the 3hr SOT if i got a good report of how much % was left so i can conserve usage if need be.
Running stock oxygen 2.1.1
then rooted and installed AK kernel (SOT is a little better) but still % dropping. i even super underclocked and saw the same effect
sent a ticket to OP - hoping its a defect and they can replace it

By what I read, it's a normal behavior when device wakes up from sleep.
It seems that, when device is asleep, even battery stats aren't updated, to avoid unnecessary drain. So, once it wakes up and you use it for couple minutes, android get a chance to record stats and update actual battery percentage.
Again, this is the explanation I read on such a question, and it does makes sense.

i managed to underclock enough to make the other percentages to show up - so it is working just i guess polling is slow.
the 12% dead battery isnt normal though. havnt had it since then but if reset a few times. now switched to a custom rom (keep loosing LTE) but ill figure it out, thanks!

[SOLVED] Saving battery on Moto G4 Play

Hey! So I bought a new battery for my Moto G4 Play! Original and new. Since last full charge it lasted 24 + 18 hours = 42 hours! My question: can I make the battery last more? I've read briefly about underclocking and undervolting the CPU and that some custom ROMs are more efficient.
I decided to analyze what is consuming the battery, results below. I'll make some rough translations too.
Consider my battery has 2800 mAh
The screen (Tela) takes 27%, that won't change, it is consuming around 18 mAh/hour
If we combine smartphone/cellular waiting (Celular em espera, ambiguous translation), Android System (Sistema Android), idle phone (Telefone ocioso) and Android operating system (Sistema operacional Android) we have 27% + 9% + 4% + 2% = 42% of the battery consumed by those, that's like 28 mAh/hour
The rest consumes 100% - 27% + 42% = 31% -> 20 mAh/hour
If we can halve the consumption from the system, we get like 14 mAh/hour, so now we can assume the battery would last (18 + 20 + 14)x = 52x = 2800 -> 53-54 hours of battery, that's more than 2 days and an actual improvement of 23%.

Any pointers of what to pursue? Do you think I could realistically halve battery consumption by the system? What should I try? Otherwise I'll just leave it as is, I'm happy with my current juice!
Turns out that cellular connectivity simply eats my battery. If I manage correctly airplane mode and activate and deactivate WiFi or the SIM card as needed, it is reported that my battery can last 5-8 days! Crazy huh!?
