Hello...
As I was trying to root the nook it shut off because the battery died. I plugged it in and now it wont turn on...any help is GREATLY appreciated!
What should I do?...I've tried to turn it on by holding the power button, pressing the power botton and the home button simultaneously...Im out of ideas.
Please Help
Since you've said "the battery died", I suggest giving it a full charge first (by using the stock charger/cable)
Yes I did that and it still did not turn on...I have since followed a Youtube video that showed me how to unbrick it. It is back to normal.
Thank you for your help!

Hi all,
I got a Samsung Galaxy S (i9000) from a friend who wanted to toss it away since he says it is broken.
I want to see if it is or not.
When I try to turn it on, complely nothing happens. When I put the charger in (or the USB cable fot that matter) a battery sign appears with 5 dots under it which move from left to right. When I try to switch the phone on nothing happens
When I wait a while, the screen goes black. When I try to switch on, nothing happens.
When I push the home button, the green charging battery appears again and the back an menu button light up.
A factory reset is not working at all. Can it be that the power button is broken??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Vincent
Fixed it!
Hi,
I was able to fix it.
Thanks to this sticky: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134975
This is what happened:
I tried just about anything, nothing worked. Then I saw a reply in this thread someone mentioning you should plug in the usb cable, push both volume keys and then maybe it could work. But of course, mine didn't.
Then I started experimenting, what did work was this
- take out battery
- connect usb cable to laptop
- push volume down + home simultaniously and then put battery in
Now i got into download mode (yellow robot and triangle + warning not to turn off target) and with Odin I was able to start the phone.
I then found out that the power button was indeed broken!
Phone works like a charm. Only thing is when I have a dead battery that I have to use Odin to start the phone. I will seek for a way to fix the defective power button.
Hopefully it will help other people with this problem!
BTW, thanks all for all the help
Hi guys, my Nexus 7 stopped turning on after I turned it off through the bootloader. I turned the device on in bootloader mode, and navigated using the volume keys to "Power Off" and hit the power button. Now it won't turn on at all. Plugging the device in, Windows responded with a sound and said drivers installation failed. Any help appreciated!
EDIT: After plugging it in for a while, I pushed the power button and it turned back on! But it did give me a scare. I'd like to know if I just got lucky or at least some explanation on why that occurred. Again, any help is appreciated!
SECOND EDIT: I figured out why. It was because I held Volume-Up when I turned the device on after shutting it down with the bootloader. For some reason, this causes a soft-brick. All it took then was to plug it into the wall, wait a minute or two, the long-press the power and then let go, and the thing will kick back to life.

Click to collapse
That is not a soft-brick, that is APX mode.

Hello, my friend gave me his Nexus 4 to replace the screen, once I managed to get that finished the phone won't seem to charge/switch on. I have tried the solution of holding down the volume down button and power button at the same time while you plug the phone in to bring up the boot menu and then have tried starting it from there. Majority of the time it won't even come on to do that and when it does it just switched back off again, the furthest I have got is to the google logo on start up of the phone. Only thing I can think off is the battery may be too drained to hold any charge and needs a new battery. Would this be the case? Or is there something else that it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi. need help please. My power button isn't working and my phone died. And now it's charging and not powering on. I tried using adb reboot but because the phone is off, the pc isn't picking it up and it doesn't work. Anyone have any ides as to how it could be repaired? I don't want to take it apart but I will if I have too.
