I bought my tablet pre ordered. Back in April if I remember correctly. I have dropped it several times.left it in the van when it was above 100 deg temp.it works as well as the day I bought it.there has been others break the glass on thee tab.Its going to happen from time to time.Call acer tell then you did not damage it and it just broke on its own. They might help you.but this acer a500 is by far the best tablet of them all.
Ranting in the forum might help get it off your chest.but will not fix your tablet.
Good luck.

Hm, my cars winshield broke all on its on while it was sitting in my garage.
Can I call mitsubishi and ask them to replace it for me?
LMAO Stuff doesnt break on its on. Sounds like what my 10 year old brother tells me everytime he breaks something.

When I bought my a500 I was torn between aus and a500. To me they're very much alike. He said if you want a tablet and keyboard, get the Asus and the cradle. If you just want the better built tablet of the two, get the Acer.
Very pleased with my a500. I supppose it's possiblle the glass could have a defect causing a break under unknown circumstances. Everything I have heard of Acer is they're very helpful. Haven't they even helped folks who bricked their tabs rooting and flashing?

Is this where I come to raise my post count?

Well it's not that far fetched. To this day, I have no way of explaining what happened to a buddy's old laptop. I was with him one time when he closed it, then a couple hours later he opened it up and the screen was broken. Nothing happened to it inbetween. Then again, it was a Dell... Now gorilla glass should technically be better, so this may have just been a defective unit. It's not the first time I've heard of a defective screen on the A500, however it's the first I heard of the spontaneous breaking glass. There's a first for everything

Oh, yeah, I'm sure the glass broke all by itself from just sheer awesomeness while you were riding through the skies on your pink, fluffy, rainbow-****ting unicorn which also happens to play some mean ukulele!
I've dropped my tablet several times, I often place stuff on it when I'm too lazy to move it, I just slap it around, I don't have any kinds of screen protectors or cases or anything... and I still haven't gotten a SINGLE SCRATCH on it.
Btw, does your unicorn have any siblings? I could use one myself, too.

I once had a windshield on a rental car crack.
I did not even drop it on the floor and it cracked!
Seriously, nothing hit the windshield, it just had a defect, a weak point or a pressure point that caused the crack.
So I suppose all rental cars must have defective windshields.

i have a crack.. on my backside, true story.

Glass can break suddenly.especially super strong glass as its cured hotter but only when it gets twisted. Im guessing this is what happened to your tablet. Rather you believe it or not.Something Are it break

hah i was surprised at myself for how non hesitant i was to reach in and grab that sucker soooo fast
lucky for me it was in a clean toilet in my home
anyways

immediately ripped out the battery
let it sit in paper towels for a bit
and then put it in a warm place near a heater just not very close
two hours later i dared to turn it on and im totally safe ^_^
its been a few days now with no problems at all!
you should put it in a bowl of dry rice just in case
does it feel nice to the face? haha glad it survived. Sure way to know if you have the peeling screen issue. Seems like yours is sealed 100000% no dust for you!

I dropped my Treo 600 in a freakin lake about 2 months after getting it. I dove in and got it, threw it in the boat and it was dead, dead, dead. Took it home and it sat on the counter the remainder of my vacation. At first you could see the unit exhibiting small signs of life and eventually it came back and worked 100%. Sometimes miracles happen

Wow, I'm surprised your Nexus One still works dude.. guess HTC's testing process did do some good. Or, you just got extremely lucky somehow.
On an off-topic side note, did anyone notice in the video where the Nexus One fell, the screen did not crack? I assume this was an almost final version of the product? Why though, does when people drop their phones on the concrete it still breaks? If HTC went through this rigorous testing process, why are phones breaking so easily?.. Of course glass breaks easily, but did the material they dropped the phone on was not as dense or hard enough as concrete? Or was it simply the multiple angles they tried..

In the video it looks like the phones are dropped from what appears to be rather less than hand-holding height, onto a surface that appears to be slightly rubbery. Concrete tends to be rather unforgiving no matter what you drop on it.
In December, I dropped my HTC Magic into a kid's swimming pool, left it to dry for one day and it's still in great working condition today =)
Did this exact same thing to my old Nokia 8190 back in the day, and the bowl wasn't "fresh". Phone came out fine other than the battery life dropped to 6-8 hours of standby, ended up carrying a spare in my wallet.

if you just complain about GPS they will tell you an exchange won't solve the issue so you will have to wait until update. If there is anything else wrong, yes they will replace it, they won;t care about scratches since it is from normal use (u said u didn't drop it)

Getting an exchange because you have a scratch on your screen? What? If he actually told them that's why he wanted an exchange he wouldn't be getting one so that's why hes asking a story to tell them. They won't exchange it because the screen is scratched, or because the GPS doesn't work.
Can you post a pic of the scratched screen, I dont use screen protectors and its been Impossible to scratch mine, So I would like to see a pic.
This is why you don't place your phone facedown or put it in a pocket with keys or change.. and most of all.. don't ever let a drunken grizzly bear with tourettes use your Vibrant.
A friend of mine got his screen scratched when his wife used his phone and her diamond earring put a small but noticeable gash on it
I don't use a screen protector either. No scratches this puppies tough.
I also have my right pocket dedicated to my phone and only my phone. Everything else goes in the left. Soon it'll be second nature and you will never put your phone in your pocket with stuff.
If TW as a scratch its from neglect. I baby mine and unless I drop it or put it in a full pocket, I'm golden...
And I never let anyone use mu 500 dollar phone.. no way no how..
Rizz good to know.. I'll keep that in mind when handing this baby over to others..
My phone has been flashed more than Girls Gone Wild...
Why don't people get screen protectors? Sure the screens are scratch resistant not scratch proof. I use a realook screen protector and you cant even tell its on there. Also I carry my phone in my left pocket and my keys in my right pocket. Carrying my phone and keys in the same pocket make my pocket bulge way to much plus your more likely to scratch up your phone.

If you are withing your remorse period, you don't need permission from t-mobile to return your phone for the GPS issue. They may not exchange it for another one, because thats just silly, they all have the problem. Yet, you certainly can return it.
As I said, I have few another issues as well, but i didnt consider returning before....
I also thought that it was impossible to scratch, yet somehow i see a half inch scratch on the screen. i have body glove case as well.....
That really sucks bro, I noticed a tiny few cm long scratch on the side of my phone.. It's not that bad but it made my heart crack a little.
Using an ugly Zagg screen protector on it atm. I'm wanting to take this crap off and just be really careful with it though.

I find it funny that people are blaming on the phone not having gorilla glass. Really? Go drop any phone out there. If it hits the ground from a certain height and at a certain angle, it will obviously break.

Siii screen dead on first drop from pocket

GUYS,
PLEASE BEWARE, the Galaxy S3 is no where as sturdy as the S1 which i previously owned or a S2.
Today it just fell off from my pocket and see what happened to the screen :-(
I had dropped my previous S1 a million times in the period of 2 years and not a single scratch
I am going to give it in on warranty, pathetic stuff from samsung
please everyone take care and use a casing.
Yikes
That's annoying. Hope you get it fixed mate.
I wonder if Samsung does that dirty trick of logging out the G sensor to detect whether it's been dropped or not and not accept warranty repairs based on it.
It was all fine after the drop. I used it for about 30 min. Then when i woke up in the morning, the screen was like this
it was a very subtle drop, this is pathetic quality and should be covered under manufacturer defect
Warranty don't cover clumsiness
G-sensor isn't a dirty trick to see if phone is dropped its proof
Sending back for warranty repairs saying you didn't drop it is a dirty trick
If you drop your phone a million times I strongly suggest phone insurance and a otter box case

To be fair, its pretty reasonable to expect that someone would at some point in a two year period drop a device that they will likely be carrying about with them ALL the time and removing it from and replacing it in their pocket frequently.
Just yesterday my s3, having only got it on monday, slid off the arm of my sofa because every surface of it is glassy smooth and bounced off the edge of a wooden table. Luckily it was unscathed but it is not unreasonable to expect a device of this nature to be able to withstand such an accident.
There is a certain amount of luck involved here though because obvioisly even the lightest tap at the right angle and position could shatter a screen.

With today's technology and what it costs is the minimum that can withstand drops of at least 50 cm like my RAZR .........
If im not mistaken it seems as if all the white ones are the ones with the faulty issues... the cracked screens, the exploding phone, dead screen... dont you think that might be the reason they're releasing the white at a later time? to perfect it a lil more...i read something where that they had to redo the pebble blue because of some issues and maybe they're redo'ing the white version...hmmm makes sense....:good:
Unlucky mate, hope it gets fixed. I am fairly certain that my phone is going to get dropped sooner or later, simply because it's so big (even more so in a case) that I can't hold it securely in one hand and operate it properly at the same time.
Tbh I'm going to keep hold of it until the rumoured multiple Nexuses come out later in the year and then maybe sell it on to get something slightly smaller.

no. I think since the pebble blue was delayed due to Samsung's color issue, the bulk of what was immediately available were the white phones. Then when a few units had problems, they happened to be white.
My white one fell out of my hoody jacket as I was running for the bus, I was lucky that it landed on the cement, not the grass or I wouldn't have noticed it. Three corners have massive damage and there paint scraped off, it really did hit the ground hard. But the screen is perfect

I agree that if you drop your phone you only have yourself to blame if it breaks but having said that i also believe a device like this should be able to withstand some drops, they managed it with the S1 & the S2.
My advice would be to get it insured and get a case of any description, something is better than nothing, even if it's only a pouch!
