Anyone who can help me please?
Running Hyperdroid 3.0.1 CM7 its been working fine
lately a few minor software issues then today when i pressed the lockscreen/hang up button once it was working as if i had long pressed it
so i rebooted, and it got stuck on the bootscreen android logo..
ive tried options in the mgldr menu but nothing!
anyone that can help at all will be saving me thanks
What all have you tried to do to correct the issue besides rebooting the device? Have you tried flashing a new ROM, task 29 and start from scratch, restore from a NANDroid backup made with Clockwork Mod Recovery before the issue arouse. These or some of the things you can try. But just tro let you know you may be facing bad blocks in your NAND, but this is the worst case scenario. I say this because you said the following.

The few minor software issues could have been the early signs of blocks in the NAND going bad.
Thanks for the reply!
Ok the only thing i can do is load MGLDR 1.1.3 by holding volume+ and on
in that menu option 2. (boot ad sd) says the kernal wont open
but im loading from nand i think so probably doesnt apply?
option 4. USB mass storage works fine
ad recovery says go!go!go! but nothing pc side
USB flasher says go!go!go! and is seen on my pc as removable device 'MGLDR'
what should you advise i do first? thanks again your really helping me i feel like theres no hope!

I think you meant to say by holding the volume down and power button as this is how you boot into the bootloader.

You are correct option #2 boot ad sd is to boot Android from SD card. It also use to be for booting into Clockwork Mod Recovery back when you had to have two of the files for Clockwork Mod Recovery on your SD card.

Well this tells you that MAGLDR is functioning correctly with this option and your PC is able to communicate with MAGLDR.

Unless your HD2 is Hard Bricked and needs to be JTAGed or you have bad blocks in the NAND memory there is always hope.
Again I have to ask have you tried running a Task 29 and then re install MAGLDR and then re flash Clockwork Mod Recovery and do either a fresh install of the Hyperdroid or use a NANDroid backup you made before running the TASK 29. You can also use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to run the Task 29 and re install MAGLDR.
lovely thank you for the links! one noob question what mode in MGLDR should i use when running task 29.exe?
AD recovery/USB flasher or USB TTY ?
The video tut of task29 says you need to be in active sync? but i can only get to mgldr

ActiveSync is the program that Windows XP and earlier use to communicate with Windows Mobile Devices. Vista and 7 use Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC)
Boot your phone into the tri-color bootloader screen, and run task29 on your computer once the computer has shown that it is connected to your phone. Your phone won't connec to ActiveSync or WMDC while in bootloader, but you ought to be able to run task29 anyways, as long as your comp recognises your phone and connects to it properly
thanks for reply Huggs,
how can i get to the tri color screen? i only have mgldr on the phone thanks
hold voldown when starting phone to get to bootloader
connect usb
run task29
however i don't think its necessary since flashing cwm should reset all the nand partitions.
enter magldr
usb flasher
flash CWM
enter cwm
choose wipe data/factory reset to clear out any leftover android folders on your sd card
make sure your target rom.zip is on the sd card
flash your rom thru cwm by selecting 'flash zip from sd card'
that loads up Magldr, im not using winmob, i was using android
holding power starts magldr
holding voldonw (JUST voldown, not voldown and power)
if JUSt holding voldown doesnt start bootloader, you have problems.
When in magldr i go to USB flasher and my pc see's it as a removable device but when i run any program like hspl or daf it doesnt recognize it at all
ok just holding vol down goes to load boot but says SD kernal wont open or something it flashes up quite fast
i had android on NAND, and im pretty sure the way i done it was so there was only the android OS on the internal memory not winmob aswell

well no it wouldbnt, because you run those programs from bootloader, not magldr.

trust me, the bootloader is always there, magldr cant start without it. magldr is, to all intents and purposes, a really fancy bit of code that sits where the winmo secondary splashscreen usually lives. If you removed bootloader, the phone wouldn't do anything, let alone start magldr.
power off
hold and keep holding voldown
tap and release power
keep holding voldown
if you don't get to the multi coloured stripy screen (bootloader) then you either have a faulty volume button, or are suffering from the (seemingly more and more common) ''cant get into bootloader''.
If that's the case, then i cant help you, and i suspect only a JTAG will save your phone.
---------- Post added at 12:06 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:00 AM ----------
anyway, forget that for now, how did.........
enter magldr
usb flasher
flash CWM
enter cwm
choose wipe data/factory reset to clear out any leftover android folders on your sd card
make sure your target rom.zip is on the sd card
flash your rom thru cwm by selecting 'flash zip from sd card'
.............go? any luck?
ok well bad news then..
power off
hold and keep holding voldown
tap and release power
keep holding voldown
did that and it said "SD KERNAL WONT OPEN" or something to that degree :/
as for the 2nd option with CWM when im in magldr and choose USB FLASHER and my pc see's it i flash cwm on the pc side yeah?
i believe i have the right files isit 'DAF' the application no?
thanks again for your help man id be totally lost otherwise
yea, usb flasher, connect usb, run daf.exe
sorry to say its not sounding good no advice for you im afraid. there are a fair few threads that talk about bootloader not starting, so read read read, and then tomorrow look up jtag.
sorry.
ok thanks man, very frustrating as the phone was working pretty flawlessly with the same rom for months.. then all of a sudden small software issue so i restarted and it just got stuck at the android logo..
the fact i can still use as mass storage or that my pc detects in the flasher means its not totally broken hardware wise?
ok well i flashed DAF and it worked! phone restarted and it said "NAND Kernal wont open" but thats the first time flashing anything worked since
just to clarify the DAF did flash and said it worked but i couldnt load the bootloader because NAND kernal wouldnt open
nothing more i can say, i'm afraid. I've not seen anything definitive regarding these types of issue.

Hi guys, I have searched and searched and searched but cannot get anything I've tried...
Essentially, I got an HD2 today, flashed HyperDroid and all was good, until I wanted to access CWM via the mgldr menu, I tried to access it but it just would not work. Holding the power button would just boot the phone, it displays some text that I cannot remember then '1234 GO GO GO!'
So instead I tried to boot into CWM from ROM Manager, but that didn't work either, it just booted the phone as usual.
So I did a task29, started all over again, flashed a different ROM and the same thing..
I really am lost, any help would be much appreciated.
no offence intended here
Task 29 wipes the phone,
put phone in bootloader, turn on holding volume down,
install magdlr, then the phone will only boot to magdlr, make sure you have appropriate radio to boot.
you should now only have Magdlr on the phone and nothing will boot and you can go through the process of installing cwm to get a android build up and running.
to access magdlr when you have a build be it android or wp7, turn the phone on when it vibrates press the power button and keep holding it down until the magdlr screen appears

What is the current Rom on your HD2?
are you using magldr or clk? if your using magldr i might try a fresh install of it & flash a different ROM...lets say BLUETOPIA HD. (personal choice) dont forget to partition your sd card and phone if the ROM you choose asks to do so. this might not be necessary & maybe its a bit overkill but i find that when i have similar problems this takes care of it. dont foget to wipe data/cache/delvic. or if the problems persist you can always flash a windows mobile ROM.
@yerdan, I'm running stock desire from DFT
@htccraze, I'm pretty sure I'm using magldr. is clk better?
i can get into boot loader mode, and the recovery but not into adb recovery
anyhelp?
i cant even get the phone to connect to usb
Did you install recovery? CWM or CLK?
HERE IS VIDEO HOW TO DO IT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pxucOLY488
OR FOLLOW MY STEPS.
To do this just download this pack: http://www.multiupload.com/VZ1WB57AOY
To install CWM follow these steps:
1. Unpack CWM.zip
2. Double click on DAF.exe
3. Connect your phone to your computer using USB cable
4. Switch your phone ON and HOLD RED CALL button until you see magldr options
5. Using Volume DOWN button go to USB FLASHER and press GREEN CALL button
6. Now, click NEXT, NEXT in DAF.exe program
7. You need to wait until it connects with your phone, and if it's connected it will install CWM (installing will take few seconds)
8. Now your phone will restart
9. HOLD RED BUTTON to get in to magldr options and go to AD RECOVERY, press green button to open it
10. Then go to MOUNT option and press green button
11. Now go to MOUNT STORAGE or MOUNT SD i don't remember it is the last one, so go to it using VOLUME button and the press green button
12. Now you can put Android on your SD card
13. So download this build, it is very quick: http://www.multiupload.com/8UPNV5WUZU
14. After you downloaded it, put it on to your SD card
15. When it is finished, in you phone press green button and BACK button two times to get in to CWM main screen
16. Now choose Install zip or something like this i dont remember (dont choose update.zip)
17. and choose NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.8_NAND_(Android-2.3.4)_update.zip from the list and press green button
18. After it is finished press back button and choose reboot phone option.
And you're done! Android will boot.
If you have problems or something let me know

Do you have Windows XP?

And install this:

Then restart your PC and try to connect.
oh ok i see. i've had this problem too. to fix it i just unplugged the phone and plugged it back in, after a few seconds it worked, should do they same for you.

Does it charge the phone through USB?
Why do you think it's bricked? Does it boot to magldr?
What ERROR do you get after running DAF.exe?
Have you tried to see if it is recognized on different computer?
If you haven't got any other computer to check, then try to install Windows 7 on new partition and see if it works there because it might be some problem with drivers, I remember that I've used to have a problem with my old nokia phone, it was detected by pc but something happened and it wasn't recognized by pc anymore, I tried to reinstall drivers etc but didn't work. What I did was I reinstalled Windows and it worked.
BTW: Are you running DAF.exe as Administrator?
Long story short, I was attempting my second flash. I followed the steps before and everything was going fine. Now right before i open CWM to install android the MAGLDR ( which is version 1.13 ) gets stuck at "123456GOGOGO".
Now i thought maybe i would start my proccess over but I cannot acces the tricolor screen. I wasnt able to do this in the beginning of my proccess either, when i pulled up my HSPL program on my desktop my computer entered the tricolor screen on its own and I proceeded from there.
Basically i have looked around and have found some ways out of the GOGOGO problem, yet I cannot acces the Tricolor screen using hardware buttons so I am stuck. And its not a hardware issue. In MAGLDR the Vrockers work fine and before I did anything the rockers were working fine in Windows 6.5.
Any Ideas? I have a feeling i got a pretty nice paperweight now.
the normal way to enter the tricolor screen is to turn the phone off then hold the volume down button and momentarily hit the power button.
Also, To keep from getting to the 123456 GOGOGO hold the power button while it is booting normally and you will get to the MAGLDR menu and there you can go to the AD Recovery and flash a new rom.

pull your battery,
put it back in,
hold down volume and power button,
and theres your tricolor screen
True i know about to Volume Down and power key to enter Tricolor, but for some reason with my phone that does not access the Tricolor, tried it many times.
Holding the power button while it booted made no difference.
*******I followed these steps for flashing my rom:*****
First, you need your files!
HSPL4
MAGLDR 1.13
Clockworkmod Recovery
Download a ROM of your choice, I prefer Hyperdroid
Unzip only the first 3 files, and place the ROM zip on your SD card.
So, here we go!
Remember to back up all of your contacts and any data stored on the phone that you want to keep, because you will be wiping windows off ENTIRELY.
HSPL4-
Plug in your phone.
Right click the HSPL4 file and select "Run as Administrator"
Go through the screens, then when it's connecting to your phone your phone will go into bootloader (red, blue, and white screen)
Select HSPL 2.08 when it comes up, hit next. Let it work.
It'll popped up saying "We hacked it!", and you'll see it on your phone. Click yes, then ok and you're done with this step! Phone will restart.
MAGLDR 1.13-
After phone's restarted, go to the MAGLDR folder, right click "ROM Update Utility", and Run as Administrator.
Checkmark the necessary boxes to continue through steps. Then click "Update", then click next through screens.
Once it starts updating ROM image, it taks about 2 minutes. Then click finish.
Phone will reboot into MAGLDR.
Navigate MAGLDR using the volume up and down keys. Use the green button to select (you may have to click twice).
(At this part in the video I uploaded the ROM zip, I'm assuming you already loaded it though, so skipping on).
Flash Clockworkmod_150
Scroll down on MAGLDR to option 5 "USB Flasher". Don't select it yet.
On your computer, go to the Clockworkmod folder, right click the DAF file and run as administrator.
Click next until it gets to waiting for USB.
Now press the green button to put it in the mode.
Text will start to appear on the phone screen, and the Clockworkmod flasher will do its work.
Once done, click finish, and MAGLDR will reboot. It may say something like "kernel fail", it's normal, don't worry about it.
Scroll down to number 8 "AD Recovery", select it.
It'll say Go Go Go Go, and then you'll be in Clockworkmod Recovery!.
****************************************************
BUT! at this point i get stuck in GOGOGO and i have to remove battery.
I JUST got this phone and really want to atleast get it back to Windows Mobile so i can restart my flash.
read the link in my signature...i was there and few of the folks succeeded after completing the process
Hoping it wouldnt come to this but looks like i dont have a choice, hopefully I get a try your method out tomorrow since the success rate looks promising, Ill get back with the results!
Try to reset your phone. Push the red little button on the back near the SD card
I have the HD2 open and have removed the flex cable at the bottom of the phone yet when i connect USB it auto boots so i have to power it down and to do that i have to connect flex cable. once i have the cable connected i power down then i hold the volume button and before i can restart the phoen autoboots from the USB being plugged in so im in a loop.
But i cant boot without the USB being in so Im in a pickle. Again

- connect the usb, don't let go of the vol_down button
- should go into bootloader

Nope that didnt work either, any OTHER reason my phone wouldnt acces the Tricolor screen? Ive tried everything 100 times.
Since 6 months my friend installed android on my HTC HD2 (previous windows mobile) mAGDLR 1.13 from NAND. Working great, till yesterday. It crashed, I tried to reboot with both soft-reset and hard-reset (volume up-down and start button), but the programm is stuck at the android logo. It is not possible to connect to the computer, only when I put the SD in an other phone.
Is there a way to solve this problem? While keeping android? Replace a file on SD?
Or otherwise to remove android completely?
I am a noob, so please explain it simple, step-by-step.
I tried to enter the boot-screen (with 3 colors, holding volume down and press start) following by connecting USB to the computer, but this isn't working either.
I don't know what to do, I am about to throw that stupid phone out of the window!
I looked on the website for similar problems, but couldn't find a solution that worked for me...
I hope someone could help me solve this!
Thanx

When I link the phone to my computer by USB, there isn't appearing a file in "my computer". My computer doesn't recognise the USB.
I can only brows my SD when I put it in an other phone.
I hope it is a bit more clear for you now.
Can you get into recovery ? Shut your phone off completely . Press the power button . Once you see the t mobile splash screen press and gold the power button . Once at magldr . In that case do a full backup, then 'wipe data / factory reset' then reflash your rom. If it works you can go back into cwm, select backups and restore, advanced, and restore the data (and perhaps sd-ext too) and fingers x'd you should be back to normal. If it crashes again after the restore, just reflash again and this time don't restore.
It worked! Only after the second try, without the restore.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Ok thats a good thing . Using once again the volume buttons , select storage and mounts . Then after that , select "Format Boot" and then "Format System" and reinstall the ROM you had on prior to the boot hang . It should fix everything and all your data will still be there "Apps contacts such things as that should still be on the device"

hello people. just a question to ask.
what if android is installed and the phone is dead?
i installed android, working fine for some hours, sometime it tilt, i removed the battery but know it does not respond
HI all, thank you for your time.
I recently inherited a htc hd2 that has android 2.3.4 on it, model T8585 baseband ver maui.11amd.w11.19.sp.v1, 2011/06/23 00:50. kernel 2.6.35.7. build number 10hx2p.h3.111121.ad2_3_4_v1.wvgac_cn.com_v01_3g.
I don't know what any of that means but for 3 days I have been trying to put ICS on my phone but cant get any of the apps to connect to the phone via usb, htc sync, win mod sync, no rom apps connect, moborobo will connect, and accessing the sd works but that is all.
I do not have clockwork recovery and can not install, my recovery program is <3e>.
even though android is running on the phone it will not allow root access.
I have downloaded and installed all the java and sdk stuff, could not manualy install usb connection drivers, my os is win 7 64.
I am going mad, every turn seems to be a brick wall, but not a brick phone yet, please help!
don't worry
Hi dj,
well it sounds like the most important stuff should be on your phone. However, I'm missing the following information:
Do you have magldr or CLK installed?
To find out, do the following:
Turn on your phone (with the hangup-key), right after feeling the bootup vibration press and hold the hangup-key again.
If you have a working magldr or CLK installed it should show up now.
The version is also important, my MAGLDR is version "1.13".
Tell me what your phone has installed please and I'll try to help more.

thanks for the quick reply, no I can not install that stuff, when I go into recovery mode it is <3e> recovery not clockwork, I can not install them because my phone does not seem to support native usb, I have tryed to install them from the sd card, I have tryed to install CLK from the app at the google download store, nothing works, I have red that i should roll back rom to win but cant to that without htc or other sync working, I have read roll recovery back to <2e> using the sd card but cant do that, I cant even root the phone because everything requires that a usb sync work or that CLK already be on, I;m going round in circles.

okay, I don't know if I get you right? You have android on your HD2 but you don't have MAGLDR or CLK (those are bootloaders, not recoveries)?
Magldr looks like this: http://www7.pic-upload.de/17.02.11/n35i2xpo9mg.jpg
And you enter it this way (if you should have it): pull out battery -> put back in -> press and hold the power key until you see the magldr screen (takes maybe 5 seconds).
My problem is that I'm not sure how your phone is setup. Please try to clarify.
If you have or had a working android on your phone, I'm pretty sure that you also have MAGLDR or CLK installed.
However... if you don't have it yet please download the HD2-Toolkit from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19931919&postcount=50
Thats a good tool to install either: magldr or clk. And once you have it I'll try to help you with that.

I do appreciate your help, I had already installed the toolkit but it will not connect to the phone(no pc based "phone hacking"software will connect to the phone. the usb works fine only to access the sd card, moborobo will synch with phone but nothing else.
when i hold vol down and on, the phone boots into <3e> recovery, <3e> is not an emoticon, it is the name of the recovery app the phone boots into, not any clockwork, magldr thing.
I think I could sort it all out one way or another if I could flammin ROOT! my phone, but all the methods I have found involve using a sync program that i cant use because they will not communicate with the phone.
I know it seems strange that a windows phone has android on it without being rooted or having other stuff going on, but I assure you this is the case.
I'm obviously missing something but I don't know what it is??? I's there a way to root the thing from the sd card, or is there a hidden box that i just have to check to access the root? I'm lost bro http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/eek.gif
PLEASE DON'T follow those steps. As Nigeldg pointed out: there are incorrectnesses in my post!
Follow this link instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044830
Okay, I think I kinda get where you're stuck at.
Here is what I think I would do, just out of my memory:
- Install the Toolkit again. Start program and in there download the drivers (button in the right corner) and install them properly.
- Boot phone and press down the volume down key (exactly like this: click on power button, release power button, hold volume down and keep holding), to get into three color screen.
- Connect your phone via usb and wait until it says USB on the phone (instead of serial)
- if it should not switch to USB, your Windows does not connect to your phone, because of a driver problem (maybe you have to reboot your pc once?!)
- start your toolkit
- press Wipe (Task 29) --> this will erase everything on your phones NAND
- follow instructions
- next press install HSPL
- follow instructions
- reboot phone
- press Install MAGLDR
- follow instructions
- boot phone and keep holding the power button until you see the MAGLDR menu
- move down to "5. USB Flasher" (with volume down)
- press call button to enter
- wait until it says USB....USB
- in the Toolkit, on the left side choose your partition size (my suggestion 200mb main and 45 cache)
- press repartition
- follow instructions
- reboot phone into MAGLDR again and move down to "8. AD Recovery"
- press call button to enter
- move down to mounts and storage
- press call button to enter
- mount USB-Storage (your sd-ccard)
- your computer should show your SD-Card
- download your favorite ROM and move the .zip to the SD-Card
- back on your phone unmount USB-Storage
- go back with back button
- move down to "install ZIP from SDcard" and choose the desired zip file
- follow the installer and reboot into MAGLDR afterwards
- in MAGLDR move down to "10. Services"
- press call button to enter
- and press call button again on "1. Bootsettings"
- and again on "1. Boot Source"
- then move down to "2. Android from NAND"
- and finally press call button to finish this
- Now move cursor to "3. Boot AD NAND" and press call button.
-> Your phone should boot up android and set it up for you, give it some time, even after seeing the login screen.
Reading your last answer, I think your problem is right at the beginning of what I wrote. You can't even get into the 3 color screen?!
If this should not work please tell me at what point of my instructions you are stuck.

@OP, Actually please don't follow that guide. Just reading a few lines shows that:
1. It says to Task29 (never a necessary step)
2. It then says 'install HSPL'. Either HSPL 2.08 is already installed (so this step isn't needed) or you've just messed up your phone by trying to flash Task29 without HSPL
3. It says to repartition with a 200MB system and 45MB cache - you actually repartition as per the ROMs requirements, and 45MB cache is just a waste of space (most ROMs recommend 5, people have flashed as low as 2MB without issue)
4. It says to transfer the ROM to your SD card via CWM, which can cause the .zips to be corrupted. Always transfer via an SD card reader if possible, or within an OS (not MAGLDR or CWM).
5. It says that you have to set the boot settings to AD NAND when you don't
Whilst it's great that you're trying to help people out and write your own guides, don't do so when you're ill-informed and don't really know what you're doing. It's best just to stick with already existing guides.
@OP, try the guide in my sig if you're looking for one which is easy to follow, has clearly outlined steps and is (most importantly) correct.

" Boot phone and press down the volume down key (exactly like this: click on power button, release power button, hold volume down and keep holding), to get into three color screen".
when I follow this step my phone goes into <3e> recovery, not red blue green clockwork, "<3e>" is my recovery, it is a screen with "!" in a triangle and a little android dude.
my recovery does not let me install unsigned stuff so even though I can put things on the sd card, I can not install them from there.
the phone does not sync with any toolkit, install, htc, win, android, or other even though htc, and android drivers are in my device driver list.
my phone is not rooted.
I do appreciate all your help guys, I will keep looking arround the forum, I found some posts about my <3e> recovery and mods so it will allow install of non signs apps, peace.

This may sound silly but always best to check the simple things 1st, do you have windows mobile device center installed?
I am not entirely convinced you have a HD2. you may have a clone.
I'm inclined to believe RobbieP's right. I've never heard of this recovery ever being used on an HD2. You claim that you're not rooted (all of the HD2's ROMs are rooted bar the DFT Stock Desire ROM) and you also say that when you boot up there is an ! in a triangle. None of these things should really be happening on an HD2.
Secondly, you seem to be very confused about your terms. Please read the guide in my sig about that, as if you somehow do have an HD2 then you should be aware of all of those things before flashing.
If possible, could you post some pictures of your phone and also the settings info etc.? It might help in determining if it's a fake.

Yeh, it's installed, but just to be certain, after your question, I reinstalled it, still no good.
Im going to try to root the phone latter, will look around on this forum for a non usb style root.
yeah I suppose it could be fake, I have only seen on forums of Samsung phones using this recovery, It was bought on eBay cheep, when I do a factory reset it goes Asian on me, it looks exactly like the hd2.
As far as getting some terms mixed up, sorry, I had put in a lot of reading and trial and error before asking for help, It's hard to gauge how long to grind away at something before asking for a tip.
I will post some pics of the phone latter
thanks again for all your help guys.
