Keeping WiFi on in sleep mode? - EVO Shift 4G General

Hi there, just curious if there is a setting to keep the wireless connection active while the device is in standby.
When was running CM7 my wifi stayed active even in standby or sleep, but now on Cyclonic it seems to drop the wifi connection if it stays in standby long enough. The wifi stays enabled in the settings, but upon unlocking my shift, i have to reconnect to the wifi almost everytime. Didnt need to with CM7.
Do you think its to do with the difference in software, or...?
Also, how do you rename your Shift something other than the PG06100?

Setting>Wireless & Networks>WiFi Settings>Click Menu>Advanced.
Then you have to click "never" in WiFi sleep policy.
And could you clarify on your second question?
Change it for your signature? Or as in your notification bar as your carrier label?
Shifted from my EVO.

Ok, so that was ridiculously easy...
As for the second question, see down there how mine says "sent from..." and yours says something different? Is everyones that is different just editing the text, or is there something that changes it?

You have to go to your xda settings and you can customize your signature from there.
Go into the xda app. Click on menu. And then settings. You should see it from there.

Thanks again, I should have known it would be something that I should have known...

[Q] wifi disconnects overnight

Anyone know why every morning my wifi isn't connected, and I have to toggle it off/on to get it to reconnect?
I'm using stock radio and cm7 nightly 205 (just did full wipe, etc.), but it also had been happening on royal ginger 2 (default kernels for each). It doesn't seem to be a problem on my wife's stock mt4g.
I would check your WiFi sleep policy.. make sure its set to Never..I think it disconnect because no data transfer rate is going on.. go to WiFi.. press menu..advance look at the WiFi sleep policy set it to never..

I should have specified that too - I did confirm on both roms that my wifi sleep policy had been set to never. Other ideas?
Am not sure.. and you said you already factory reset your phone.. I was going to say try the app "keep WiFi alive." If that doesn't work then something else ain't right.

[Q] wifi keeps disconnecting for no reson

I use cm 7 and have no other mods installed on the phone but for some reason my wifi keeps getting discounted then after a few seconds it will come back on then off again?
Look for adv wifi settings and set sleep policy to never. Thats what I do on my droidx2 FWIW.
Did that and still have problems.
Just check out this thread. Might help.

Wifi sleep settings in CM7 KANG.......

I have done a little looking around and came up with nothing so I thought I would post. Where are the sleep settings in CM7 for the wifi? I haven't found anything yet, and the wifi goes off when the screen turns off. Is there anyway I can set it so that wifi stays on all the time? I want to be able to get google talk notifications and email notifications all of the time, without having to wake up the kindle to get them.
in Wi-Fi settings, hit menu than advanced settings. its technically on by default, but it does drop off randomly on occasion

Thanks for the reply. I couldnt find those settings for the life of me. Mine was set to sleep the wifi when screen is off. It was set that way by default. Im going to see how the battery drain is when set to always on.

Wi-Fi always turning itself on?? :(

Last night I installed a few toggle widgets. First for auto rotation then for sound profiles then the Bluetooth one and in the end for Wi-Fi.
However after installing the Wi-Fi widget.. I noticed Wi-Fi would turn itself on without even asking my permission. This I noticed when I woke up today morning and saw an unexpected amount of battery drain. I immediately checked and the Wi-Fi was on. I remember correctly that I had switched it off in night (which comes under my daily habits after hitting the bed). Anyhow I immediately got rid of that widget by uninstalling but issue still persists.
Can anyone suggest anything to stop phone from turning Wi-Fi on itself?
Below is the app and my Wi-Fi's advance settings.

By the way.. I must add.. My phone is totally stock. And I I have had no problems with any of the apps prior to installation of this widget.

Sometimes apps like this can be a little flaky. I have HD widgets that I use to turn on my wifi and it can misbehave also. I have compensated by having a app that turns the wifi off at a particular time of day. You can also set it to turn wifi off when the screen is off. Other than that I would suggest looking for a widget that works better. There is a ton out there.
It was my bad that I downloaded this widget. I don't want to download some app to ''manage'' Wi-Fi setting off. I want to make it how it was prior this widget installation... Turning on and of myself. Is there any way.... Without the help of another app or widget

I think i need to change KEEP WIFI ON DURING SLEEP option to Never.
Can anyone attach a snapshot of his advance settings in wifi option? Like i have attached above
I believe it's the "battery guru" app you have installed... that's primarily what it does, keep you on Wi-Fi as much as possible

Emmmm.. You sure?
Because it started last night after I installed that widget. It "never" happened before that. :s
Can u post ut advance settings page's screenshot? Just need to match settings.
Pretty sure... it was happened to me, I noticed it after the learning mode was completely

So far I think this was the cause.. Snapdragon BatteryGuru.
Go to the settings in BatteryGuru and turn OFF the "Manage Wi-Fi" option. It's been an hour I have turned it off and wifi hasn't turned itself on. Therefore, I believe this option was causing wifi to show up.
I remember a friend of mine turned this option ON (the same day when I installed that wifi toggle). I just realized that after reading QUIETLYloud's post. Thanks a bunch mate.
This will help people in future.

[Q] Stock Rom keeps turning wifi on

I'm using the stock Rom and when I go to settings to disable Wifi, after the screen is off and I wait for a few minutes the wifi keeps turning itself on.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I'm not using juice defender or similar apps. Also my phone carrier doesnt add a custom APN that forces this.

Go into settings/wifi/settings and choose wifi on always in sleep mode. Reboot the router and reconnect to wifi. If that doesn`t help you might try a data factoey reset.

Um... but he wants to turn it off...
If it wasn't a stock rom I'd say something like profiles.

Do you use Qualcomm Battery guru? I also have this issue and I use it, so I think it is related to this.

Hi,
I just tried this and I don't see anything suspicious. If I search for Wifi, I see it's being set to ON by ActivityManager or ConnectivityManager, it doesn't seem to come from an application.
I have attached a full log and a log searching for WiFi, maybe you can help me find something?
Very much appreciate it!!
Thanks!!!
Anyone?
