So far loving the Rom, but as is normal for me the headset volume at max is too low due to hearing loss (jet aircraft was the cause not loud music). Will DSP Manager work in Taboonay? I use it with my other rooted android devices. I am just not certain if there is some prepatory work by the rom builder or kernel developer that integrates the DSP App integration.
Thanks
Go into the settings and look at "Dolby Mobile". Can you not do that? Sure, it's not exactly the same as the DSP manager that, say, Cyanogenmod has but it should work for you...

Same here buddy not good of hearing what is did was dolby digital set to max on treble and half bass, then installed app called "equalizer- https://market.android.com/details?id=org.equalizerapp&feature=search_result"
this seems to max volume best. give that a try good luck
Have you figured out how to ensure that the external speakers don't work if the headphones are plugged in? This is a really annoying bug.

I bet some of HTC HD2 owners have been trying to improve the dedicated music player with the audio booster app.
Audio booster in my opinion provides a better sound quality overall when switched "ON" and for some picky sound gurus is still not good enough to satisfy.
The recommended option over the htc hd2 forums is to use SRS WOW app for htc but still I think there is a distortion in order to get the better bass,treble,3D sound and music stage level.
I have flashed my t-mobile phone has been flashed about 30 times and most was because in between the all good and stable roms there was a sound quality after has been eq-ed by the booster.
Here what I found out and I don't have a technical explanation since I don't cook and roms.
I install the rom X and then advanced conf utility and then I do audio booster but an old version and restart.
Audio booster older is a bit hard to adjust on HD2 but once you do it you suddenly realizing the music quality is better in terms of bass, treble and stage.
How come? I always ask myself and the closest answer i get is the different driver in the Win MO 6.5 system.
If anybody has any thoughts and willing to share I'll be happy to listen.
I have to tell you guys even on a very low volume the bass is vibrating and your ears shaking. I have my UE Pro 10 professional musician phones sound amazing like there is an additional amplifier for boosting the eq settings.
This is the audio booster.cab I'm using making a big difference:
Htc_Audio Booster-VGA-OldMod
My adv. config has audio booster settings changed to very high on treble, bass and 3D.
Give me your thoughts and advise what is the reason I get a better sound with an older HTC audio booster app.
Get SRS WOW app. You can tweak all of the auso settings.

Understood and many thanks for all your advices guys!
Question:
I tried a few different versions of SRS including the latest one to my knowledge 2.3 and I noticed the balance moves to the left.
Anybody has the same problem?
The sound is great and 3D takes great effect.
Any thoughts?

Helllo everyone,
I have read about supercurio's audio analysis and how the audio chip in the GS2 might not be as great as the original GS but I have a GS2 so...I am trying to get the most out of the audio that is in there using headphones and my car stereo through auxialiary input.
I currently have both power amp and dsp manager installed and was wondering if dsp manager was necessary since power amp has a built in equalizer. I was also wondering if anyone had a nice equalizer setting that works well with the GS2 for most type of music
thanks!

So then you recommand using only audiobooster and disregard poweramp's equalizer and dspmanager?
Does anyone still have some good equalizer settings? I am currently using the Rock preset on poweramp and am liking the difference between it and flat but I don't know if I could do better.
thanks
bump,
no audiophiles here have a nice audio setup to use with headphones or through aux?

I'm far from an audiophile..
I could test mine with my Sennheiser HD 555s when I get the phone next week but thats not really what you'd want. They're not really something you'd use with a mobile phone.
mainly looking for someone who has experience with the phone and with equalizers to try and bring out of the strength of the phone and maybe hide the weaknesses if at all possible.
Someone recommended Volume+, would you only use that or use it with something else

I grabbed hold of volume+ after reading about it here. As Voodoo sound doesn't work, I'm using it to boost the base volume of the headset only. If I want to fiddle with the EQ, I have PowerAmp for listening so will use that. To be honest, these two in combination seem to work pretty well for me with fairly cheap headphones so I'm happy.
PowerAmp's EQ is the best, no question. Don't use any additional resident EQ's, they are very low quality compared to PowerAmp's one. After tweaking the poweramp EQ some, I'm getting a pretty good result with my etymotic HF2's.
can you post the equalizer setting you are using? Just to give me an idea
thanks
Poweramp working well. Is it much improved by also using external equalizer app?
poweramp works fine and its amplifier too is ok
however this wont fix the audio output of the sgs2
plug any decent headset (maybe not the bundled one) in the sgs2 then the sgs1 or an iphone and you can easily hear the difference even if youre not an audiophile or smth like that
personally this will make me jump to the next nexus or sgs, granted that their audio output is better, as soon as they're released
its not that the sgs2 output is horrible but its far from the leaders in that area
I'm using the settings described here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122361
They work rather well for me. Sometimes the output isn't loud enough though, so I've been playing with some of the equalizer and volume+ settings. I can jack the volume up a ton with those two, but I definitely lose some quality here and there and see a bunch of volume+ force closes so still working out the kinks there. Other than that, very satisfied with the audio quality on the SGSII with Poweramp.
+1 to these settings
im using the phone as my primary source for audio in the car, using poweramp and i find that the settings described in that post work quite well
the only thing to note is im not sure if the EQ settings work as it says that only the paid version can use custom settings but it seems to do something at least
i know this issue has been discussed for a while,
but is there any update?
sound quality is bad, and low.
is there some mod to overcome this issue?
success stories?
A favorite of mine is Volume+ (Sound Boost).
It is Gingerbread only and really does improve the audio.
Try the free version first here but the full version does have a lot more to offer.
Full Version includes:
* +8 in all settings (Free goes to +4)
* 9 EQ presets (Free has 1)
* Advanced Settings - gives you complete EQ control: you can control each EQ band independently. (NOT INCLUDED IN FREE VERSION)
Only had my GS2 for 3 days, but I love the sound quality, especially in the headphones with my custom EQ settings. Voice calls are loud enough as well.
I never have any problems with sound quality but this thread made it even better.

Would you care to broaden your opinion on the HS3000, I am interested in purchasing a set of these myself.
Sound would seem to have improved on KI3.

Again I have to say ~ try Volume+ (Sound Boost).
The free version Volume+ FREE is limited but will give you an idea of what it can do.
Some people are saying XXKI3 brings sound improvement.

i found that player pro (headphones setting)+ Equalizer app pumps my denon ah-d1100's well so as my yuin pk2's
i go with anything stock will be much better i guess
btw, a new firmware is available now
I9100CEKI2
does this one also features sound improvements?
because 2.3.5 isnt official
Looking forward to the audio improvements in 2.3.5.
slight improvement, but better.
but still :S
and btw 5.1 Sound in Music Player is pure bull-crap
Hey,
So I got my SGS2 last week and I'm loving it and Android.
One thing that bothers me is that when i use the ear-phones and listen to FM radios, the lowest audio level (1) is loud for me and if i lower the volume, it goes to (0) which is mute. I was wondering if I can somehow (with an app?) add custom audio levels, like if right now its 0% 10% 20% etc, i'd like to add a 5% audio level between level 0 and level 1.
I usually watch movies/listen songs with headhphones on and i've very sensitive ears so the louder volume level at the lowest volume on sgs2 earphones is pretty off-putting.
any help would be great, i did do a quick earch on market place, there isn't an app for this afaict
bump .....
Try DSP Manager search forum for it
I have the same issue, the FM Radio is to loud on 1.
DSP Manager seems to have effect at all on my SGS2.
Are there any other solutions?

Does this work for sgs2? There's some talk in that thread about samsung devices not being supported (Volume levels of 16-30 being dublicates of 1-15).
Dsp manager works for EVERYTHING else I've tested, but not the built-in FM radio app :S Any fixes? (Wouldn't mind saving data with using FM instead of internet radios.)

I guess you meant this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20781374&postcount=14
The poster made a mistake in adapting the mod so no wonder he had some strange bugs..
Anyway, i used it on cm 7 nightlies without any bugs.
I recently tried a few different mods I found, each had pro's and cons...
Viper | ATMOS (Dolby)
Viper | Maxx Audio
Viper | Beats
These had a significant effect on my battery life, not sure if it was the Viper part of the other part of the mod??
With the Dolby ATMOS, I liked it when I finally got the Dolby EQ set, but it's pretty hard to dial in. You'll be really close and touch the EQ, to fine tune it, and everything close to where you touch just jumped around and changed a lot.
The other issue I had, I have PowerAmp as my default player and have it set up really good..... When I would open PowerAmp, all audio mods would stop working until I reboot the phone. The only work around was to turn off all of PowerAmps audio processing and let the mods handle it, which I don't think sounded as good as PowerAmp, but make everything else sound better.
Just curious... Is there a good audio mod out there that is battery friendly?? How about one that doesn't stop when using PowerAmp?
ElementalX -> Headphone Gain + -> PowerAMP EQ(Alpha 700) or get a portable dac+amp? I got myself FiiO Q1, embedded wolfson is just sheeet.

What do you mean PowerAMP EQ?? I found the Alpha 700 build, but is there a stand-alone EQ as well or a way to make the EQ syetem wide?
Never thought about using EX headphone gain, I have that kernel and tweak app installed.
I also tried Viper with the audiophile profile and it sounded worse than stock.

By powerAMP EQ I meant, just for the music, not system wide. After going through default FX and viperAudio (I never liked it) to work with my DI.FM and other media application, I decided to get a hardware DAC+AMP.
If you're not into huge bulky dac+amp, you could get your hands on FiiO K1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0189EVGAG
It's an exceptional device with capabilities for just 40$. Works great with provided OTG Cables, but I got a single Type-C to Micro-USB so I don't have to worries about adapters/connectors.
