[Q] HD2 on Mango: Update available?? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi,
I recently put WP7 Mango on my HD2, so I have the 7720.68 installed.
I was connected to a WIFI spot, and my phone told me "there is an update available"...
I don't really understand, and as I am not able to sync it with Zune, I cannot try to update it. What would it be? A radio update? Something else?
My radio is 5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U
Any idea??

If you haven't synched with zune (so installed via cabs) you are now on the RTM 7720 and are being offered the cleanup update, which will take you to official mango (same version number BTW).
Not much difference to be honest.
Enjoy

Thanks, I didn't know there was a cleaning update following the RTM.
Any idea how I can connect to zune? I tried many things, but it is not recognized...

Is this for updating the firmware on the HD7 to utilise compass etc in Mango apps?
I have an O2 branded HD7 that is updated to Mango RTM / final using ansar's techniques, but I didn't get the firmware update along the way. How would I go about installing this, will it work for an O2 branded device?

If u did like what ansar did, u just have 7720 ISV beta final build... U have to use Mangoforall2.0 or provision... To get update to 7403 ISV then 7220 ISV... But then, u have to run Connection setup quickly (if u want to keep jb with your CustClear.provxml in Window of your HD7)... Then will have a quick Update, i couldn't see update name, just the something like "clean"...after that, about 1', will have HTC update and and bravo U have got 7720 Official I try by ansar way about 5 time( and never have official 7720... Then, i use Mangoforall2.0, run update.bat and now, I have 7720 official with still jailbreaking

Hi, I adding the correct provisioning (back to retail) on my phone (using ansars tools) and this HTC Update appeared for me in Zune without any trickery. Problem solved! And it retained Chevron unlock afterwards.
Watch out though for an update in marketplace for Connection Setup as this may overwrite the chevron provisioning on your phone, you'll need to apply chevron provisioning again in case of future relock.
Fantastic!
I too need the post-OEM update for my Trophy. Should be WWE for me.
No dice on the timing hack for me. sigh...
TIA!
Hi guys. Anyone care to share on how to use this?

HD2?
Does anyone know if this OEM update will be safe and successful to do on a HD2 running mango RTM?
Thanks.
I tried to deploy the update with XBoxMod Update Cab Sender. CAB was sent to device but the upgrade failed.
I'm on RTM Mango with PhoneID SEA. I bought it in Singapore.

[Q] Omnia 7 firmware

Is there a difference between 2424.11.8.5 and 0222.11.8.5 or is it the same but different numbers because of carrier (t-mo and orange uk)?
222.11.8.5 is from orange .
mine too is 222.11.8.5 and i still wait for the firmware update to 2424.11.8.5
Can we update just this firmware with wp7 downloader.
I don't know what mean the check boxes in wp7 downloader.
If we check just "eboot", will it updated ?
thanks
my bootloader is 5.8.1.9 and i can't update the latest firmware because oit has the same bootloader (i got a error that i have the same name for firmware),
the only solution is to roll back an early version of bootloader than update the firmware manually.
but can i flash only a bootloader without hard reset the phone ?

Yes, using the WP7 Downloader and having checked only Eboot, it flashes only the bootloader without erasing your data. The flashing of the bootloader takes only a couple of seconds BUT... I tried that, flashed several bootloaders (5.8.0.8, 5.8.1.9), and when I tried to update the firmware with WP7 cab sender, I received the same error image. I didn't try flashing older bootloaders (coming from preMango roms, for example 4.12.0.9 from JL3 Rom) though, in risk of bricking the phone.
what would the best combination be if I want to get the Mango Firmware with Tethering enable when doing the Zune Update? I'm not too interested in unlocking the phone, as it seems like a lot of hassle, but I would like Tethering - if i install the UK Retail firmware will that get tethering enabled with the Mango update?

No, if you flash a Rom with UK RETAIL csc, this is an UNBRANDED device, which is NOT receiving a wifi tethering update via Zune, at least for now. In order to have Internet Sharing on those devices, you need to unlock it.
BUT I had an unbranded device, and I could force tethering update of French operator SFR, not via Zune, but using WP7 cab sender. But that branded the device to SFR-FR network (without visible sideeffects though, NO problems with data, boot images or branded search engine). I could then change that tie from SFR to T-Mobile UK, via registry edit, and I could actually receive notification via Zune for the tethering update, but that update fails every time.
It seems that the SFR update (KI3) and the TMO-GB (KI4) are almost identical, and one cannot install one over another. Hopes that is the issue with those specific updates, and not the forthcoming ones.
So your best bet is to install a Rom (either engineer or retail, practice showed that engineer roms can be updated normally) using the T-Mobile UK csc (TMO), and then update it via Zune.
OR you could install an unbranded one using the UK retail csc, update to Mango without IS, and then force the IS update using KI4 T-Mobile firmware (use that over the KI3 SFR fw, it has slightly updated bootloader and firmware, radio is the same, and I suppose it's better to be branded under a UK network)
Thanks - looking at the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131891
It seems the only available firmware with TMU is
Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJJ6 ALL PROVIDERS
this is quite old - is this OK?
P.S My device is currently ORANGE UK
You can:
A. Wait till Orange UK offers IS update. As long as T-Mobile offered it, I suppose it's a matter of time that Orange follows sooner or later. If you can't wait proceed to B.
B. Flash that XXJJ6 preNoDo rom with the TMU csc (os 7008, it would be wise to unlock at this stage, as you made the hassle of going back to preNoDo). Then update normally via Zune to Mango with IS (two stage update)
C. Flash a Mango Rom, which can be found at samfirmware.com (need to create a free sign-up account). There are two roms I8700XXKH2 (with an french SFR csc) and I8700XXKH5 (with a DTM csc). Both those two carriers, french SFR and Germany T-Mobile offer update via Zune with IS. Only one update, that of the IS, as you are already on Mango. You will need to change language/locale and uninstall some carrier apps.
Also you could try flashing those roms using the TMU JJ6 csc. I have tried that in the past (not this exact combination, but different rom different csc) and I didn't face any problem. Beware though that I used preNoDo csc and preNoDo rom, so it may not apply in the case of preNoDo csc / Mango rom.
How about changing the operator in the registry would that help

Yes that would be ok, I didnt mention it though as cm-mojo specifies he doesnt have an unlocked device, so he can't use registry editor
Anyway, change the network id in the registry to TMO-GB, and then update via Zune BUT you should not have applied (via Zune or WP7 cab sender) any extra fw update other than the ''default'' Mango (KH2 or KH5). If u have forced KI2 (Voda ITA) or KI3 (SFR FRA), you cannot update to KI4 (TMO-GB, DTM)
i tried to flash using WP7 Sender, but i keep getting an error that a file exists with the same name - not sure what that means

Hi what about to install TMO-UK/DE update and future other operators update? Will I encounter the same problems of SFR-FR update that prevents you from installing other operatos update? Now I reflashed may Omnia7 from 7004 to mango unbranded and I don't want to fall in the same error. Do you think I must wait or ...?

Yeah, same thing here. Had TMO-DE version KH2 on my Omnia, via cab sender, too. Update to 7.10.7740.16 failed several times, finally putting my phone into restore mode, from which it was unable to recover.
Ended up reflashing my Omnia down to JJ6 again (with TMO-DE csc) and then letting Zune do it's updating. It took 5 updates and some two and a half hours, but now everything's fine again, i'm on 7.10.7740.16, firmware 2424.11.9.4
I'm shure this won't keep me from using the next unofficial solution to get the latest version some hours earlier than everybody else, but i'll keep my JJ6 rom & flashing tools warm and dry, in a safe place...
originally flashed KI4 from DE-Tmobile to get IS.. however 7740 update failed repeatedly.. mucked about a bit with Cab updates but no dice..In the end went back to XEUJL3 & then let Zune do it's thing for mango & firmware .. now on KI2 with 7740 (used a cab updater but perhaps I could've waited. Anyhow Compass works great & I think now I'll shell out the $9 to chevron to enable the IS instead of wasting another afternoon..

update 8107 on OPN device

anyone got the update 8107, on OPN EU fw?
i tried with reg hack (vod de) but no luck for me...
Same story and same result. OPN NEU device.
I have an unlocked Vodofone and I still haven't gotten the update. ... and the trick Zune with the loss of internet connection trick doesn't work anymore.
Stupid programers putting in timeout scripts....
OPN-DE receives 8107.79 update
This morning I got a notification from my E900 and updated via Zune. Firmware is still the same, just the OS update:
OS: 7.10.8107.79
Firmware: 1.1.2.10
Hardware: 1.0.0.0
Radio Software: 1.1.2.10
Radio Hardware: 0.3.5.0
Boot Loader: 1.5.1.0
Chip-SOC: 0.30.2.0
Update went smooth, let's see if there are any differences.
Today I got 8107.79 update for my OPN NEU phone. There were some kind of changlist during update, and it seems only minor upgrades and bugfixes.

I installed update manually, and I found out only 1 change: in settings->system-> cellular I can choose fastest connection between 3G and EDGE.
I'm updating now my vodafone-de firmware to just released one hour ago
Does the european OPN FW include tethering and hidden WLAN support? I flashed OPN Netherlands just for that, but now i don't get v8107.79 and the disappearing keyboard bug is annoying.

Yes it does, and if you don't get the update just do it by cab sending, very easy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415

Radio Stuck on old version

Hi,
I flashed Ansar's Vodafone AU rom (after stuffing up my backup), way back and was able to update to nodo, mango and 8107 through regular zune update.
However, my radio is still stuck on the old version and have not received any updates. Is this normal? I presumed the radio updates would have come through with the OS update?
Please halp!
I forced the 8107 update last week and still got a radio update last night.
I have version 5.69.09.05a_22.50.50.21U
What version is yours?
I have a european GSM trophy.
My radio & boot loader is really OLD. I got the Voda AU 7.10.8107.79 update via Zune, but rest is still as follow
Radio software: 5.50.09.15.22.23.50.09U
Bootloader: 1.8.2250.1 (109634)
Plug your phone into Zune and check for updates on it. I didn't get an alert on my phone for the new radio but it was available through zune.
Tried that already. Any other way to force it?
Possibly its not coming through because I have voda brandaded, but non-stock Ansar rom?
Btw, anyone know if the Aus radio rom is same as Europe?
Tempted just to flash the Europe HTC update
Unless you really need the update (8107 update is enough) then i'd just leave the phone alone. I only updated because it popped up.

8112, 8773 (Tango) updates in Zune for unbranded/retail UK Omnia 7

I received notifications for the 8112 and then the 8773 updates. The firmware is KK2 (no change there).
If your phone is Interop unlocked this series of updates can be a bit devastating as 8773 seems to break Interop (unlock) and KK2 prevents unlocking. Leaves you in a sticky position. I had to send 8773 with the cab sender tool, relock, and then update to KK2 in Zune.
Hi, what operatoro code you have?
Thanks a lot
000-GB
Ok, I changed my mobile operator but It doesn't work
Try 000-88 as well. You may also want to try 000-UK.
The reason I say try a few is that my code has changed over time (oddly). It used to be 000-88 back in January but somewhere along the line it has become 000-GB, perhaps after the KK2 update I received after Tango?

Odd...changing the code has worked for me in the past. Maybe that combined with wireless disconnect would do the trick.
Also works fine with T-Mobile Germany ROM. After flashing Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJJ6 (T-Mobile CSC) and updating via ZUNE, I have now Tango and internet sharing. Don't know if T-Mobile UK gives internet sharing.
After all I have:
os version: 7.10.8773.98
firmware: 2424.11.9.4
radio: 2424.11.9.1
bootloader: 5.9.3.0
