[Q] CM7 Nook screen flashes/flickers during video playback - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running the latest CM7 nightly, when using an app like pluralsight which streams video the audio is working fine however the video playback is a mess of flickers and flashes.
When I download the video to SD card, the video plays back fine. Seems like its having a problem streaming....
Pluralsight streaming works fine on my Epic 4g and my laptop using the same internet connection. (10mb downstream)
any suggestions?

Timing problems with sd card access

Hi,
I tested different movies on my G1 (Dream 1.5) and on my Hero with the same microsdhc class6.
All movies played fine on the G1 but not on the Hero.
The movies on the Hero are interrupted every 2-3 seconds for a very small moment, but the sound works fine without interruption..
I think there is big problem with the SD access on the Hero.
Are there any patches out which solve this problem?
Michael
Looks more like a bug in the video player to me. It is not correctly buffering, perhaps dropping one frame from the video buffer occasionally? If you hook up the Hero over USB then the SD card read speed is more than sufficient to play the video on my desktop without any hitch.

I think it depends on the firmware.. I tried different players...
If you use the card via USB you have a different driver. So that the reason for the speed.
I think it's a problem with the phone since I get the same stutter when I watch YouTube or beebPlayer (it's ironic that my Touch Pro 2 has better YouTube playback than an Android phone...)

Yeah all multimedia apps just hook into the same android api for video playback. Its probably an issue in the driver for the HW acceleration.
I'm getting the same problem with the video player. Glad it's not just me, thought I was going mad!:

Epic 4G Allshare preformance

Yesterday I started messing around Allshare on the Epic and had no problem setting it up. All I had to do was connect to my Wi-Fi, start the app, and WMC and XBMC both saw my device. However, I'm having performance issues with streaming video. When I try to watch a 720p video from my phone I'm getting stuttering and buffering, lower resolutions videos are a little better but the same thing happens. I was getting issues on my Macbook and PC, so I don't think it is computer issue. WMC and XBMC do not make a difference, I experience the same issue in both programs. I'm connected with 802.11n on WNDR 3700 router so I doubt that's the problem. Its either the Allshare application it self or the phone, maybe even the SD card isn't fast enough to stream 720p video.
Has anyone else tried to stream 720p video from your phone to another device, did you experience any problems?
The only streaming issue that I've had with the 720p video is my television won't play the audio properly, says codec not supported but I have no stuttering, and this is using a wireless G network.

It finds my DLNA server, I don't think it can connect directly to your shared drives, or drives in general.

Does a 720p recording from the Epic's camera stream to your PC smoothly?
Haven't tried to the pc, but didn't work on the ps3
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I tried it with both Win 7 and PS3. The avi file that played on the PS3 didn't play on WMP. Videos recorded on the Epic worked on the Win 7 wasn't supported on the PS3. I had occasional stuttering and buffering problems (maybe a few seconds every 5 min). My wireless signal is probably only 50% at that location however.
doesn anyone know how to play it in tv... my tv is dlna but everytime i try to play it saids unable to play!? anyone?

[Q] video playback w/ audio delay

I'm having really annoying issue, and I dont understand if it's me or something I did... anyway audio seems to be about at least a second off from video and I see that on all movies that I load to my AKF...
any ideas?
Do they play fine on your pc. Do streaming vids from the Internet play fine? Could be the format you converted them in.

[Q] M.O.J.O. and XBMC

Hi All.
After getting the M.O.J.O. one of the first apps I installed was XBMC (OUYA version). I was able to install it fine and was able to add my media library without issues (network share).
The problem that I am seeing is when playing a movie. The movie starts playing and shortly after it pauses and starts buffering. I get the pause anywhere between 15 seconds and 1 min. Also, for some movies it plays in slow motion.
I was also trying a different version (non OUYA but with the same result).
I can play movies from the same network share on a different video player without issues.
Did anyone try XBMC? Was it working?
Thanks.
Hi,
I've played around with v.13, Gotham (alpha) and it works fine with 1080p videos.
Could it be a network speed issue? Is it with certain file formats?
I'll give it a good going over again tonight.

I don't think it is the network. I am using the same network for the rest of the devices in the house and don't have a problem. Also I can use M.O.J.O with a different android player (BSPlayer) and it works fine.
I will give Gotham a try.
Thanks.
Gotham seems fine.
I was able to play the video files with no issues now.
The build i used was Alpha 11 from December

Has anyone installed Kodi on the Fire HD 8?

I installed it but the entire tablet freezes if I try to stream a 1080p video.
Netflix works fine though.
Does this tablet just not have enough power to run Kodi?
Works fine for me
Works fine for me also.
i can stream 1080 from my NAS using NFS over WIFI
what are you streaming from and how ?
