1st. I didn't create this ROM, just asked Kenia1234 what to change and did it.
2nd. Kenia1234, Chiledog, Dexter_nlb, and myself WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE!!!!!!!!
This still has the button mapping problem and the auto rotation problem, If you know where a kernel(reoriented for SENSE on this device) is or someone that will make it ask them to do so, and post a link!(PLEASE!!!!!!!!!)
I want to thank Kenia1234, Chiledog, and Dexter_nlb for making this beast ROM, hope to see more progress made!
If already on MIUI or CM7, just reboot into recovery and go to mounts and storages>wipe system, data, datadata, cache> flash GalaxySense.zip and enjoy!!!!!!

4. BACKUP EFS FOLDER ONTO SD CARD OR SOMEWHERE ELSE!
5. Flash MIUI/CM7 in recovery, reboot, let it boot ALL THE WAY UP.

b-eock: I just want to get some clarification on the installation process. I believe the installation process for getting to MIUI changed a while ago where you no longer need to flash the cm7-initial kernel, efs backup, etc. You just have to be on 2.1/2.2 bootloaders and have CWM installed then flash the MIUI zip (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
Would this process not be the same for GalaxySense or am I missing something?

Which kernel? When you flash MIUI, it includes it's own kernel correct? So would it be the MIUI stock kernel that you need?
And about backing up EFS, if MIUI no longer requires that step, as in it does this as part of the flash process now, why is it necessary to do it before flashing MIUI? Just trying to get clarification. Seems kind of strange to me.
This states using the new CM7/MIUI flashing procedures as well.
I will try this in the night!

GalaxySense has existed since April for the Galaxy S i9000 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044637). This is simply a port to run it on the Captivate (which has also existed since April or May by following the Escapists instructions).
Projects like this is why an AOSP based kernel is so important. AOSP removes all of Samsung's proprietary issues and allows any other ROM that has been ported to AOSP to be ported to the Captivate. CyanogenMod, MIUI, and GalaxySense are all using the same sources to build from..
As some of you know a friend and team member parabola from acs is a java developer and he wrote an app called the acs updater. Now the app is from acs but the intention is for any dev to showcase their work. If you would like to have your work included in the app please visit here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1174964
And choose submit theme, app, rom, kernel etc to make it publicly available.
This app downloads the mod and flashes it for you.

Yes it checks for the build info you shouldn't see my rom but you should see my themes. It should identify you as crespo when you start it

Very similar so far the dev just got started. Its actually building into something that will keep people that use our work in the loop and provide a simple means of flashing. The thing its since we don't store the rom itself there no reason to not let any dev post work.
Sent from my crespo4g using Tapatalk
Nice and good idea but i guess it would be very hard to maintain( no offence intended).
Only checking the build prop is okay for roms but will be problematic concerning kernel and themes.
why is that? I'm not saying you wrong I'm not seeing why not

Interesting idea, does it do a proper flash for things? I heard somewhere that RM doesn't flash properly for certain things (cant remember what exactly).
Was there a reason to develop your own updater? I'm tempted to use it for my stuff though.

So far I've flashed the themes and rom. The original idea was he was building a in house updater to package all of acs's work. A central location to have it all but recently he decided to add in anyone who wanted to be included.

If your trying to install it like a normal .apk its not going to work. You have to move it to system\app and set the right permissions
Sent from my Mikrunny 4g using XDA App
What are the correct permissions may I ask? I have friend that just rooted her phone and wants the hotspot hack instead of wifi tether. Are the permissions the same as others, need to be inverted "7"?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I believe, if it goes in /system/app , as noob stated, then permissions will be rw-r-r. Same as other apks in system/app.

No, no, no, no....if you are not using a rooted custom ROM.
The hotspot hack(s) will only work on deodexed ROMs which you must flash through recovery. Since stock ROM is odexed, the only way you will receive the hotspot hack other than using the wifi tether app is to flash a rooted custom (possibly rooted stock) ROM which is deodexed, which most of them are.
The hotspot hack works on odexed roms check out the classic it only comes odexed and has hotspot working u can do anything odexed u can deodexed now a days

Ok, 1 odexed ROM. I still have never seen a hotspot hack that wasn't part of a custom ROM, unless I've missed it somewhere, and have never found one for stock ROM, unless it was a custom rooted stock ROM.
Ummm try looking there are modded hotspots to oush to your rom with instructions all over the dev section

I've always just flashed a rom that has hacked hotspot baked in. It's never caused any problems. I used it as my ISP for an entire summer with no issues.
Ok, so I'm rooted with superuser. How do I set those permissions when it put it in the system/app folder?

It's much easier to either use the wifi tether app or just flash a rooted ROM with the hotspot already hacked, since every hotspot hack I ever did needed to be done in a CUSTOM ROM anyway.
Also, that system/app thing (with the rw-r--r-- permissions) will install the app, but will not hack it into working, tried that about a year ago.

How do I get tablet mode without bricking my phone???
Sent from my GT-N7000B using xda premium
You cannot get it if you are on any TouchWiz based Rom, it is not supported by the TW framework.
On any CM9-based Rom you can change your DPI to 213 or less to get the tablet.
It can be done either editing the build.prop file in /system folder, or by downloading Rom Toolbox from
the market and doing the DPI change from its build.prop tweaks.
However, some of the said CM9 Roms have special procedures for getting the tablet mode. Read the
instructions in the OP.

CM9-based Roms are the only safe ICS Roms ATM. They contain a safe custom kernel built from I9100 source code,
while everything else (including Sammy's offical Roms) has an excellent bricking potential.
So, your safe ICS options would be:
1. official CM9
2. Asylum ICS
3. ParanoidAndroid
4. MIUI
However, read the flashing instructions VERY carefully.

edits to the framework since its TW would need to be done via decompiling the jar files and apk files, doing smali/xml editing, recompiling the jars/apks, pushing them to your device, fixing permissions, rebooting, changing dpi then rebooting again
its not as simple as an app that edits frameworks. its alot more work then you would figure, TW is a b!tch

I must be the only one to not notice any major speed differences between odex and deodex. I mainly run a deodex rom because I don't wanna have a gazillion .odex files in system app and system/framework. Oh, that and being able to theme as I wish.
Deodex is useless. There are some websites about this. If you need to theme the Rom you just deodex the needed files to theme them and you keep the advantage of odexed Rom.
this is a great idea, but it does not work on wanamlite 3.7
there are others options to odex a deodex (and very customized) rom ?

Im using ronne's lite rom. Runs perfectly fine here.
I usually install all the mods and apps i wan and then use tb to convert some apps to system apps and run odex me.
But do be aware that some apps dont work having converted to system app. Like the xda app. Because i was using this mod ever since i got my previous phone note 1 i know what apps to convert.
And u wont be able to mod your phone after using this. Im not a modaholic and its like a standard procedure for me to use this mod after setting up a new rom.
Personally i feel the phone is faster and slightly improves battery life. Of cos its just my personal opinion. Cheers
