[Q] Official CA Bell 2.3.4 upgrade via SD card - Atrix 4G General

Now, Moto has released Gingerbread to CA Bell Atrix phones together with Blur 0.45.2.17
Code:
http://www.motorola.com/Support/CA-EN/sdcards-MR2/Atrix
I'm currently using Asian Atrix, B/L unlocked, loaded with Orange FR Gingerbread.
I want to know if I should stick to Orange FR or should move to Bell's Gingerbread. Orange FR 2.3.4 is working smoothly so far but the problem is with the Webtop. the movies cannot switch to wide-screen when display on TV. I hate that and want to try is Bell's update would fix the problem or not.
Have anyone tried this update so far? Please share the experience.

[Q] problem wit vibrant

hello i have a samsung vibrant from bell canada
the phone is root and run 2.2 but im not root another person do
my question is
how can i go back to 2.1 official firmware?
Yes I tested XXJPC 2.2 Rom and loved the changes and will love Froyo when it officially comes out for the i9000m. Unfortunately I had a lot of problem with the radio. Specifically losing my 850 Band. I did go back and now running stock 2.1 Bell official rom. Please be aware you may have to fix your Radio and that is located here.

n00b help: AUSTRALIAN Galaxy S (i9000T) Telstra - updating/flashing

Hey guys,
I have looked around here and mainly found peoples topics for the Galaxy S i9000T who are from a different country, need different firmware and have differently branded phones, hence this topic:
I have purchased a Telstra branded (AUSTRALIAN) Samsung Galaxy S.
BASEBAND VERS: I9000TDVJH3
KERNEL VERS: 2.6.29
BUILD #: ECLAIR.DVJH3
----------
From simple browsing I have determine 'TEL' or 'DV' just means TELSTRA (and T can also mean this). If looking at 'J' by itself it can be interpreted as OCTOBER 2010 (when i got the phone), but not sure what H3 is....or if it is read as JH3..
My plan is to jump onto a nice compatable version of Froyo 2.2, however I have NO IDEA which is the best and closest firmware to download and in case of any stuff-ups or compatability issues, if i need to claim my phone under warranty, I want to be able to flash back to stock firmware, which is this Telstra JH3 crap, and have no idea where I can find that.
My biggest gripe is nopt being able to have the FREEDOM to remove/uninstall/move certain LOCKED apps despite trying with various android apps and while i'm rooting/flashing, I thought I might as well get 2.2 since the "proposed" release date in Australia for it, and probably likely release by Telstra will be in December, or so I am told...screw that.
Can someone help me and direct me to the most appropriate version of firmware to download and, if available, the original stock firmware (if it has been replicated by anyone with the same phone as me?)
Thanks
RoOSTA
I've PM'd some Aussies to get attention to the post as i have nowhere else to turn to!
currently there are no safe Froyo 2.2 yet
even the original release in Europe got recalled, wait until mid November, then we might finally see some progress
for now just iron out whatever is bugging you with the current fixes, and live happy until Froyo comes out
is that I9000T a 900 band model or 850 band model ?

The Telstra I9000T is a 2100/850 Mhz model.
Yeah, OK...I'll wait til mid November, only a couple of weeks away...
Until then, what can I do to get the best/accurate/most reliable 2.1 (UNBRANDED) that will still work 100% on the 2100/850MHz bands? I want to be able to delete ALL the crap that is apparently "system locked" apps from the phone...
RoOSTA
i have i9000t latin america versión
and i have made this flash "[HOWTO] Froyo FW I9000XXJPM: Upgrade via Odin, Root, Recovery 2e, Lagfix!"
with a unlocked csc from canada
first of all I made a backup with the rom manager, because i cannot find anywhere the galaxy s firmware of my t model
maybe you can do the same
so whats the optus ones? just i9000? funnily enough im on jg3 with optus.. where as the op is on jh3.. my phone was also delivered in mid oct 2010.
So maybe I'll just try rooting the phone to de-brand it (keeping on 2.1) then when a stable official froyo 2.2 comes out, hopefully MID NOV, just update to that?

Rooted the phone using auto method from the tutorial on these boards with ease, installed Titanium Backup which downloaded the latest or most compatable busybox (1.16 for me). I have managed to delete some "locked" apps, but a lot of Telstra's BIGPOND apps remain (downloads, movies, sport, etc) - they are much harder to find when browsing the list appLIST in TBackup - I jsut got the free version, but impressed with how much easier it has been to customise even still, as a branded phone.
RoOSTA
@roosta...im a noob, plz can u tellme the step to step guide i soo wanna get rid of telstra apps and i wanna completely debrand the telstra galaxy s phone without installing any lag fixs like voodoo etc, i just want to instal the original eclairs or froyo from samsung for its galaxy s i9000, but im not sure how to go about because i have the 850mhz next g galaxy s from telstra. Can you help me , thanks in advance
Hi mate, as the reply I made above states, i used the galaxy S "root" tutorial,. i havent debranded hthe phone, but i have been granted rights or access to delete specific apps I dont want, so follow that. I won't FULLY debrand the phone only because I havent got the telstra stock firmware to download and REINSTATE at a later date (if i needed to for warranty purposes)
RoOSTA
@roosta, i wud really appreciate if u cud post the link, i cannot find the thread u mentioned in your reply. and secondly any idea when telstra wud be releasing 2.2 for sgs. cheers

Hi mate,
Is there any chance you can upload your stock rom, I stupidly flashed my i9000t without fully understanding the 850mhz network and now I am stuck with a custom rom and no way to access the nextG network.
If there is a way and I just missed something, please let me know.
Kindest regards,
All you need to do is root the phone which you did, and then get hold of Titanium Backup. Use that to uninstall the junk that Telstra pre-installed. But before you do anything use Titanium to make a full Backup just in case. From what I gather your phone is exactly the same as the American AT&T captivate so whatever roms/fixes they use you can use on your phone. If you notice a lot if not all phones from AT&T usa work fine on telstra as they both use 850mhz (NexG rebranding) while the rest of the world like Optus/voda/whoever uses 900mhz. 850mhz is actualy better as it penetrates walls and buildings better but problem is that only 3 Telcos that i know use it is AT&T, Vodafone NZ and Telstra so they can be expensive for data. But on a better note you can use your phone on any network as it also has 2100mhz(very congested) 3G too.
Always willing to help out a fellow aussie here you go mate

So 2.2 out for Optus, but STILL nothing yet for Tesltra for the JH3 firmware and 2100/850 bandwiths!?!
That's ridiculous...
and guys, for stock 2.1 eclair Telstra i9000T firmwares and CSC go here:

RoOSTA
Hey Roost,
Just wanted to check in and see whether you had any luck mate? As far as the GTalk thing goes I had absolutely no idea about that, but sounds like your only choice here is to flash back to stock Telstra 2.1 and then redo your modifications and reflash to your custom ROM.
I agree with you completely in that the delay for Telstra updates is ridiculous, but this has always been the case. Even right back to WinMo 6.5 on the TP2 and TD2, they've always been three or four months behind the trend. To best of my knowledge there's still no news on Froyo yet, which is just ****ful.
I'll keep checking your post to see if you turn anything up. Hopefully you do and it's manageable. Good luck mate.
Justin
Hey all,
Just updating: As per another thread on this board - Telecom NZ have released Froyo 2.2 available via kies. Using registry, i spoofed Kies into thinking my phone was i9000T from NZ, so have since updated to 2.2 wiuth no issues;
For me, no lag fix needed, swype works perfectly, all gps/maps work fine with accuracy and 850 band fully functional. I'd also recommend doing this ahead of Tesltra AU since i've gone from about 15+ useless LOCKED system banded apps to TWO on Telecom NZ; one being internet and the other for 'account status', so very happy with the recent update...

I think TNZ have pulled their 2.2, at least that's the last update I read a few days ago.
I've got an I9000T as well, and am on Telstra. I've flashed Docs V4 JPU ROM and it's working great on the 850 band.
So it looks like the JPU CSC does support the NextG frequencies
Do you think you might be able to list some of the useless telstra branded apps you removed? im having trouble knowing whats what the way its itemised and named in Titanium Backup.
auldar could you link to the ROM you are using at please.

Atrix Mexico - help offered, needed for HDMI, etc

I have an Atrix, successfully rooted via GingerBreak.
Build OLYLA_U4_0.43.0
Blur_Version.0.43.3.MB860.AmericaMovil.en.MX
OSHWT_UI_6.18.0
Since the beginning it has sideloading, wifi tether, and a newe version of Webtop at least... I'm not sure if it is SIM locked (veery likely). It has Telcel bloatware... really hideous stuff.
(Got the multimedia dock by default, and the lapdock as a freebie from Moto , for renewing the same plan I already had before on a Cliq. Yes I use that many minutes)
I like to enable the webtop without dock hack... BUT it is a different build than A&Ts. It is safe to just replace (after backup) the necessary APKs?
If the releases are useful for you guys, I'll be glad to help you getting them, if you help me with the propper commands to extract SBFs, etc. Of if just an IMG from the partitions are useful, let me know.
Hola paisano,
If you already backed up your rom with Tenfar's nandroid you should have no problems.
I would have tried myself, but I have an at&t Atrix unlocked to Telcel.
I suggest you to use root explorer and just rename and replace the appropriate files.
Cheers,
Rayan

well first you can ROOT??? i guess you can using gingerbreak, you need be carefull since there is no SBF for Atrix from telcel, not sure if telsra will work tho.
anyways if you can root you MUST install Tenfar recovery and
abd pull all your /system
in case something goes wrong. mm will be nice of you can make a DUMP from the system, i guess bootloader policy will be the same, but why dont try check if its signed??? i dont remember exactly the command but something like
fastboot secure key or something like that i will check later.
why you think you have the latest webtop??? version??? or what
to be honest seems pretty interesting having a dump for mexico atrix. i hope you can do it ;D good luck.
ps. after a backup of the /system and installl recovery make a nan backup. the worst could happen its you brick the device... you need push the files again if that not working maybe using telsta sbf to restore... root again and then nand restore.

I'd rather answer you here (not PM) so more people can benefit from the conversation (tenemos que usar inglés por ser un portal internacional).
Did you noticed that both your APNs got wiped (Internet and MMS)?
Did you recreated them?
You can find the APN configuration instructions on Telcel's website (you can use any Android phone as example).
Once you take care of the APN configuration, you should be fine.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Telcel Gingerblur went wrong.
hey guys, I rooted my Telcel's atrix two weeks ago, and I decided to gingerblur it, but I had several issues:
Lock screen doesn't work, if you click volume buttons or power button, it send you inmediatly to home screen, even if you configured it.
home button doesn't work, you can't pass from one app to another but only to return home screen with the back button.
Airplane mode was erased, GPS didn't work at all.
at least after 6 hours working telcel sent me the GPRS configs.
I tried At&T frlash rom but it became worse, GPRS conection didn't work and GPS couldn't turned on.
Right now i'm trying to recover some funcionality with the Build OLYEM U4 International Rom.
Does anybody of you has a Tenfar system image? If so please post it.

Did you wiped before installing the rom?
Go back to restore and do several cache and dalvik cache wipes and then try to boot again and test.
Don't repartition your cards with Tenfar's recovery.

Hola Compitas,
Hey Rayan remember me? epuk in esato forums?
I've already have an Atrix, i flashed French OLYEM_U4_2.1.1 last week that is the most recent SBF around.
Works well but data transfers in Mexico are just normal 3G, not HSDPA+ related. I didn't dump my software 'cause normally Telcel don't use the latetst software.
ATT&T SBF's aren't posible to use in Mexico, when i had my Motorola Backflip i had the same issue, so we have to attach to international releases.

Another APN Config for TELCEL:
Nombre: America Movil
APN: ba.amx
Hit Save. Currently working on my Atrix.
I just wondering if you need warranty hours you will come to stock?i hope you did a backup with recovery.
The apn above will help you

i have a Telcel Atrix but since i install gingerblur 3.5, the system version change from Version 4.1.57 MB860 America Movil. es. mx to Version 4.1.57 MB860.ATT.en.US, the last night i tried to get the actualization, but when the download was complete, on the display appear the message "Verification error download and try again", suggestions??
Ok,
Let's try to clarify the thing about android devices and Carrier Constrains.
AT&T Devices are very tight in security about letting the user do what they want with the device. Fortunately exist root exploits methods to gain root access and bypass those restrictions. The most serious thing comes with bootloader. Bootloader have Certificate Keys according each market. For AT&T those CERTs are unique. For the rest of the world we have some sort of International CERTs valid for LATAM and Europe. Now Ginger Blur is a Pseudo ROM, it doesn't change anything of your bootloader. Just messes up with your android framework and tries to optimize several things that came cut over on AT&T roms. For me there is no gain installing those pseudo roms on my device, just the theming. In fact i think TELCEL rom is one of the most advanced following the French OLYEM ROM 2.1.1.
We're not going to get the 1.8.3 update never. That update is meant for AT&T devices.

Ok I'm not sure since I don't have a telcel atrix, but you can't install any firmware of at&t, if you are brave you can try flash at&t sbf.and see what happen, anyways if you are using ginger blur you CAN'T update, even using at&t version.so the only way you can get at&t firmware its try flash your device with sbf, always have a backup with recovery, because you will brick your device if something its wrong, and you will need recovery, in the best scenario you can flash at&t or telstra sbf successfully and you can root again and restore backup.
You shouldn't mess with your atrix if you don't have sbf, and more if its for at&t version, since could break things like bell users.
And we know how ****ty its telcel, and warranty and so on...good luck I wish you the best.
And if you have any sbf working do you mind report back? Thanks

Hi again!
Are you saying that Telcel's Atrix is not bootloader signed?

Rayanmx
Sent from my Atrix using Tapatalk
Rayan,
It's signed but with diferent Certifictaes from ATT. In fact if you try to flash an ATT sbf over Telcel Atrix you'll get an Error in RSD Lite. I guess this CERTS are the same that Telestra and European Atrix models.
The bootloader is locked by request of the carriers and according to Motorola only the Xoom bootloader will be unlocked only to developers. Developers are hoping to find that this bootloader can give an idea to unlock Mobile bootloaders like the one in Atrix.

Interesting!
I'm hopeful but honestly I doubt that would be possible (to decrypt/unlock) being Motorola the best company in encryption. As far as I know theres no single case reported but here's hoping...
But chances are that they find a workaround as 2nd init or something like that.

Defy No Data Signal after CM7.1 Stable

Hello All,
I'm one day new to Android, but deep in WinMo (formerly here) and iPhones.
I Rooted using SuperOneClick and all went well.
Installed 2init, all good.
Flashed CM7.1 Stable
Now I have no data service. I went ahead and saw the baseband selector and I selected Argentina, I'm in the Dominican Republic, but it's the same frequencies (850/1900) and nothing.
Please help.

Hello! Sometimes, same frequencies means nothing in Baseband switcher. I think you have to check all the frequencies and options until you find the correct one.
Greetings!
Try all the basebands until it works
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
Tried China ME722 1.10 (850/1900/2100) No Good Either
Australia Telstra 2.26.0 (850/2100) got EDGE, atleast.
I have been trying all of them, and only get EDGE. When I tried Argentina Claro, I got 3G but only for like 5 seconds then the entire signal was lost. Gonna keep searching.
Well, It all Failed No 3G
I even had a live chat with Motorola and they confirmed that my IMEI matches the sticker on my box, the bands are correct for my networks etc, so I guess my only option is to flash my phone back to factory and send the phone for replacement: It's two days old.
Paul
Can Someone link me or tell me how to revert CM7.1 to Original 2.2 firmware that came with my phone? Is there a way from me reading the label on the box to put the original firmware back and even "un-root" the phone?

You have to flash a SBF. It's the only way to have an original firmware again and un-root the phone. You should check this and choose a SBF file. Also, if you are lucky, you can find the original SBF file of your provider on Google.

New Firmware .253 on 3UK Branded Handset

Hi Guys,
I was just in the process of setting up drivers and such on my Win 8 Machine for Flashtool to install the UK Unbranded .453 onto my 3 Branded Device and what pops up in the Background... Sony Companion with .253...
Updating right now!
So 3UK Users go and have a peek!
Enjoy!
still no update here.
uk handtec unit on rogers Canada network.
I have an unbranded rom but am on O2 in the UK. No update here. Seems strange that they will update different networks at different times in the same country. Sure there is a method to their madness but frustrating!
Yes..
Couldn't wait any more for unbranded update, so flashed my 3 handset back to 3 ROM and update came in straight away, yippee..
Nice to have stock browser back, but lost "my files" file explorer? can any one post this please, downloaded a few of market but nothing compares to this.
Overall awesome update, very quick and responsive, menus and screens seem allot blacker now as well.
I'm on 3 UK and don't have any update notification either on sony companion or OTA
Edit: Oh maybe because i flashed an unbranded rom. I take it this update isn't 4.2?
Edit 2: Eh, i just manually updated to a non-branded version. Seems way smoother so far and loving the colour adjustments.
