Droid Life just posted the new Google Music APK. There was a trick to installing it on the Transformer though. Not sure if this is something specific to Honeycomb, but I had to do a few things before the app would install successfully without erroring out.
1 - Open Titanium Backup > Backup/Restore > click on Music and make a backup (optional)
2 - As it's a system app, force uninstall Music from Titanium Backup
3 - reboot
4 - install the new Music APK
5 - as noted in the DL article, you may need to Clear Data on the new app before it will sync with your Google account.
Hope this helps someone, happy listening!
EDIT: it seems this apk is not 100% Honeycomb compatible as it force closes on the song screen. Make that backup!
I installed but I get force close everytime I click on an album, any idea why??

So far everyone with a tf or xoom that posted about it (myself included) has said the same thing.
Yeah, I spent about an hour trying different things looking for a fix. Reverted back to 3.0.1 for now, hope someone comes up with a fix soon! Artists/albums screens seem less buggy on the new APK.

I hate how bad the Artist/album screens are on my Transformer. I figured I was the only one. It like it keeps refreshing the list and I can't even get down the list.
A new Google Music apk (4.0.1) has reportedly been pulled from Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus which also means that it was built specifically for Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). The hints of ICS are all over it, but most noticeably from the color scheme which has turned cyan-blue. It also feels much more polished than previous builds.

So it appears that this version is not downward compatible with hc 3.2.1. Nothing you can do about that, except wait for ics to reside within the tf101.
For what its worth.....
I have just got it fully working on my sgs2.
Gonna give it a whirl on my tf now.

The new Music 4.0 fails to detect that you're using a tablet, the widget is the one used on the phone. I don't think its ready for use on the tablet yet.
Ive had a word with a guy i know......
Lets see what happens
And, im gonna have a look at that myself too. But i dont hold out much hope

Some of the apps I had before the upgrade are not in there. I did the settings/apps/market, clear data/cache. They still don't appear. Could it be that app is not supported on 2.2?
For instance...
Paypal
Redbox (I searched redboxer to find in 2.1)
File Cover (for the lite version)

Those are copy-protected files and virtually every time we get an update, it takes about a week for them to come back. Google has to add our new version number to the Market database before copy protected apps come back. Hopefully, Sprint or HTC is already on top of this and by the time the update is officially OTA, Google will have it up and running. Until then, you'll just have to live with the other apps that aren't affected. Good news is, Google is moving away from copy-protection and is going to offer a licensing service instead, which should fix this issue.
Thanks for replying and explaining. Makes sense and I can wait.

Yeah no problem. I have ten apps and about half are paid that aren't showing up. I'm very anxious to get this fixed. Everything else in Froyo is amazing, so once this gets fixed, I'll be very happy!
Hi,
I'm at the end of my patience here. I've had all 3 of these roms installed, and they all work great, except that google earth NEVER shows up in the market. I found a google_earth.apk, and Installed it from ES File Manager, and it works except when I try to clear the cache, or change any of the layers. And on the first attempt it crashes but 2nd or more, it will work if no settings are changed. I've already tried to fix permissions in clockwork but to no avail. Any suggestions?
From what I've read by searching Google, I think Google actually removed this from the market for some reason.
EDIT: Either that or they've changed it to 2.2 and above only. Haven't used 2.2 yet so I'm not sure if its there or not.
well then I guess I should be happy with what works??? lol! But if anyone wants the file, here it is. See what you can do with it.

I'm on the 2.2 Beta and its in the market for me. so if you really can't locate it in the market then i would assume you are right in that its only for froyo now. in which case you can probably install an earlier version of google earth and run it without any problems. i'lll see if i can find one in one of my old backups somewhere if you would like.
I would really appreciate that!

I doubt that would work, since you have to connect to google servers to run the program and they force you to use the most current version.
Worst case scenario you will get it when the official 2.2 is out, won't be long.
randomly now it works without any problems. strange.
Probably put it 2.2 only for the size. I still have ir installed on 2.1 and it works fine, I can pull the apk later and pay it If anyone wants it.

I Just flash CM7 in my kindle fire and there is 2 probles:
1. Sound don't work.
2. HW Video codec don't work.
Sorry for this forum, i can't post in development forum yet.
Not sure if you noticed but.that.cm7 is only about 2 hours old. So it will probably be awhile until more information comes out about side effects. Times like this patience is a virtue.
Yep, sounds like there may be a flag that needs to be thrown in the build props to get the hardware acceleration going and JackpotCalvin appears to be looking at the sound issue.
I too am new as well to post in the dev thread and wanted to ask if anyone has checked to see if the bluetooth A2DP stuff works (that's the item that I'm really wanting)
it does not matter for me now, my kindle die...
Can you be more specific?
//Tapatalk.EVO3D//
ok - so I got cm7 running, looks great - market fc's.
Read the thread on this, dl'ed and installed - cleared cache. Market runs, finds app, when i click install - fc's. I don't know what to do from here. i have most of my apps sideloaded, but missing a few i would like, and yeah. Sure this will be covered eventually, but somebody has to mention it first. Ideas?
Have you tried the market install method that worked on the stock fire?
//Tapatalk.KindleFire//
yeah - i did. I hadnt rebooted though, so I tried it, recleared the cache, still having some issues. The main thing that was getting in my way was being able to get vending.apk into the system/apps since i didnt have an explorer with root sideloaded, but i found a version of androxplorer and sideloaded that to get everything done. I saw someone's fix to hardware acceleration by editing build.prop, i wanted to use sql editor to do it from fire, but its a purchase file and so it would be easiest to get through market. I got android market on laptop to sync it to my kindle though, apparently.
Someone posted a Market-3.1.1.apk file. Did you try that?
//Tapatalk.KindleFire//
Don't have a Kindle Fire, as I won't get one until either there's support for Amazon services in my area (Spain) or there's a decent recovery and Cyanogen port for it. I use CM7.1.0 on my HTC Desire GSM, and I'm not going back to stock, ever.
Now, the fire is kind of low priority for me, as I already have an Asus Transformer (not yet rooted, as I haven't found it necessary. Might do that once CM9 comes out though)
If market keeps on fc'ing, you can try bookmarking market.android.com and select the app there, should download and install onto your Fire without needing to open the Market app.
Loving the CM7 build so far (no sound is a bit of a downer, but still). I do have a question, though: installing CM7 apparently decided to change my Wi-Fi MAC. Is there any way I can change it back?
Sounds like this cm7 shouldn't of been released as it needs more tweaks still.

No. The more people we have playing with it that know what they're doing, the faster we'll get to something more stable. What it really sounds like is people shouldn't be so impatient and flash the first thing that pops up on these forums.
So far everything seems great, obviously other than sound. I've heard youtube messes up but I haven't tried. All in all I would have to say great job by Calvin on giving our Kindles some CM7 love a few weeks after they were out.
I think the youtube issue can be fixed by editing the build.prop.

Hi,
I don't know if someone else found this problem. I made a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RS9j4uiTDaE. It's also in FullHD.
And wrote a post in my blog in my native language, spanish: http://retreteinformatico.blogspot.com/2012/01/touchwiz-40-y-problemas-con-la.html
The video description is english. I'll also explain the problem here:
Simply put, TouchWiz does not save the icons in the place where I leave them. At first I organized all of them in two screens: one with folders and the other with most frequently used icons. After doing a power on-off cycle the icons are all scattered without alphabetical order in three screens instead of two. The folders maintain their ordering and screen. An icon (AllShare) is put between two folders and the other icons are divided in two screens, disordered, not alphabetical.
In the video you'll see first what I found after the icon position screwing. Then I get three or four apps out of their folder (Google Talk, Gmail, Maps, Market) and put them with the rest of the icons and the AllShare app is put with the rest, out of the screen with the folders. Then I power off the phone and turn it on again to find that GTalk, Maps, Market and AllShare are out of their place.
After that, I put the icons more or less where I want to put them (in two screens) and I do again a power cycle to show how did TouchWiz screw my icon organization.
I'm using Android 2.3.4 XWIK4 with baseband XXKI1.
If someone is able to reproduce the problem just tell it. Maybe touchwizh has problems if you put in folders the Samsung apps (Hubs and more), I don't know, but it's a big problem.
Folder/Icon rearrangement is a known problem with TouchWiz since day 1 when SGS2 got released.
Best way to get around is to use AppSorter and sort your App Drawer everytime you create a folder.
Posting problems about 2.3.4 when everyone else is on 2.3.6 = VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS!
Update your phone and test it and give feedback!
Hmmm, I didn't know. How comes that Samsung hasn't fixed this in 8 monts?
This is ludicrous.

Love the name of your blog: informatic toilet (retrete informatico) ahahah
Anyway: They suck on fixing bugs.. if we users and devs cant fix'em we are screwed lol
Also, why any reviewer spoted this problem? Add to this the Fujitsu camera module problem and you get the idea that QA on Samsung is really poor. Just remember the GPS problem on Samsung Galaxy S1.

I read your first post about upgrading to 2.3.6. Well, if I just use the default Samsung support, I'm stuck to 2.3.4, as my phone is Austrian version and Samsung didn't release nothing newer than 2.3.4 for those phones.
So Samsung sucks big as a company and client support.
Of course if I start to root the phone and installing custom ROMs the problem would disappear, but flashing your phone and breaking your warranty is not something the user should do for something that's supposed to work from the beginning. Different thing is if the user wants extra functionality, but this is not the case.
So, all in all, I'll wait until ICS gets released and after that if it doesn't convince me, I'll root and who know if I flash a custom ROM.
I had that trouble before where one app ended up going to the next page and kept going back there. I think simply restoring the order, going to TwLauncher in the application list and then force stopping should make it remember the order you gave it once you go back.

If I force stop TwLauncher the apps are again "out of control" :-/
I'll try to clear the cache although I'm reluctant because I'll need to recreate all folders again
I have partially solved the problem by clearing the cache of TouchWiz launcher.
Now the SIM service app keeps going back to the same place out of its folder, but I refuse to clear again the cache and organize all my apps. Maybe it's because the SIM service app is something variable. If I kill touchwiz process that app appears inside it's folder (once the cache corruption is solved), but if I turn off the phone and turn on again, the SIM app appears out of the folder.
This is crap.
Well, know what? I've installed some applications at one time, all from Samsung Apps, and after rebooting the phone all my folders are empty and the apps inside them are all spread across 6 screens instead the 2 screens I managed to sort. The apps and folders have lost the position I assigned to them.
Now I have a bunch of icons in random order and I don't want to organize again 6x8 = 48 icons plus the home screens which would turn to default state after clearing the cache of the touchwiz manager.
It's very annoying and unusable. I want to throw the phone through the window.
What I can't understand is how this bug has been happening since launch date and Samsung hasn't been able to solve it. My only hope is the ICS update and I don't have much confidence on it. Probably I'll have to flash a custom ROM and then try to get some Samsung software on it.
The free games offer is very good
PS: Well, maybe it has some explanation->Samsung's poor software development quality assurance. Camera's firmware also suffer from it.

With all due respect, and not aiming to sound rood to you, with that mentality (it should work fine out of the box and I don't care if somewhere else there's a newer version...) you shouldn't be posting on XDA because people we'll obviously tell you to upgrade to the latest version, whether it's from a different operator/country (legit) or simply a leak.
You can't expect people here to act like the only way to use the phone is by following what Samsung/your operator is dictating you. We all know and have long ago agreed that operators and manufacturers are lazy when it comes to QA, and that's why a place like XDA exists

The camera firmware bug affects to all people, doesn't matter if you have stock Android or custom ROM. So we're all in the same bag. And this is Galaxy S II General forum, so I post this here because norms allow it.
Anyways, thanks for your reading.
Actually clearing the cache helped! Ever since I updated to 2.3.6 I have had this problem but after clearing the cache it has been resolved. But initially after the update the folders did remember for a couple of days after which the problem started for me. But for now clearing the cache worked well.
Hello, did u guys already tried Menu>Save in app drawer after modifying/rearranging apps/folder?

Does anyone have any clue when Android 7 will land on the Zoom? It's kinda silly that it didn't launch with it to begin with. But the year older Zenfone's have since received Android 7 and we're still waiting ..
Already launched. Updated today.

I just downloaded the update, I'm gonna leave it charging and updating. :fingers-crossed:
Just updated mine.
Main noticable things are:
- the new notification interface,
- the quick links page allows more icons and has better design, and
- Portrait mode on the camera.
What else called your attention?
Did a factory reset after install. Thought Asus cleaned up pretty well on Nougat for Zenfone 3 but the 3 Zoom's Nougat strips away almost everything. Apps could only get clearer if they replace Memo with Google Keep and not preload Duo.
I think there is more wall papers in wall paper slideshow.
Nougat ZenUI is much better than Marshmallow was.
Greatly appreciate the update. Yes, the UI is still terrible color and design, but Nougat makes this feel tolerable. Especially the ability to remove sooooo much bloat. Glad that I could finally get Google Phone dialer installed and working without the ASUS Call screen. Now if I could set long hold back button to kill I'd be quite happy.
Can you guys get me ota link ?
Use Android Terminal to Run this command
cat /data/data/com.asus.dm/files/tree.xml
Then upload tree.xml from your sdcard
Thanks

Interesting I'm still unable to install Google Phone (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer), stuck with ASUS's app.
Another one that bothers me is the Contacts app. I'm used to Google's stock and I find ASUS option way worse.
Ideas anyone?

Download the Contacts APK from APKMirror.

My camera app stopped working after the update :\ Even tried resetting it. Other camera apps work fine. Asus support says to reset my phone and otherwise send it in (for a software issue?!). I guess I'll be resetting, but this is the second time support told me to send in the device for a software issue. Can't say I'm impressed.
