[Q] Is there a way to run fastboot flash direct from xoom without pc

Hi folks,
Strange question I know, but...
I've ubuntu maverick on my Xoom(chroot), I need to patch the kernel and recompile it, and I prefer to need not to connect it to a pc just for this one stupid step. Instead i would like to be able to run fastboot flash boot blabla directly from my xoom shell or just remount a drive and put the new kernel there.
Thanks

On the Evo, we use a binary called "flash_image" to flash recovery from a terminal emulator. However, i would be careful on trying to flash boot.img booted up. but if you're feeling brave, give it a shot and let me know how it goes

There's a separate binary called tegra_flash_image. It works on my gtab for flashing recovery.
Ok thanks, i'll try. When i do a failure, i can reflash with a clean boot.img from pc so there should be no problem. I'll tell you what happened, but i need to wait until the tiamat kernel sources are updated. Maybe in the evening.

no mouse with 2.3.4 HKTW webtop hack

As the title says, my mouse does not work. The phone trackpad or my BT mouse and keyboard. Flashed files from 2nd post in this thread,

then i motofastboot flashed the webtop img cgimg
make sure your doing moto fast boot not just fastboot
then i did this one copy and pasted line by line rebooted twice
bam back to normal
Tried flashing cg61.img using fastboot with failure because image is too big. I can try to use moto-fastboot but dont how see that will help. Is there a way to wipe the webtop completely or is that what you did when youdeleted everything to do with webtop from /system/app

you beat me to it
fastboot is really only for the fastboot oem unlock in the pudding thread
use moto-fastboot for all flashing after you have finished pudding
fastboot only allows flashing something like a 256mb file. you have to use moto-fastboot for system and webtop images.
Exactly the help I was looking for.....thanks a million guys
last question.....is there a list of all files floatin around for webtop?

what do you mean?
I used the one from the webtop 2.3.4 hktw fix thread that you listed.
It works great. I also did the webtop2SD thread on 2.3.4 with the 2.3.4 webtop and it works perfectly.
If you want the 1.83 webtop you have to flash back to 1.26 then 1.83 spf and then reflash pudding. personally I have been using 2.3.4 hktw since it was leaked and have not wanted to go back to 1.83 despite the little issues in 2.3.4.
my 2.3.4 build has the following in it...
tenfars latest recovery CWM
hktw system
boot.img with remount support
webtop from the webtop fix thread
my cardock fix
webtop2SD
Gentoo in webtop
Debian in webtop with xfce4

I got it fixed with the CG61 img and it's working perfectly now. The key was to use moto-fastboot, not the normal fastboot in my sdk folder. I'm going to put debian back into my webtop (had it in my 183 webtop and loved it). What is the xfce4 you mentioned in your debian???????????

So I'm confused..how is this different than the other methods of getting 4.5.91? I know one of then can brick if you flash sbf, but isn't the cwm zip safe?

These are completely safe to flash. They don't mess with your bootloader like the OTA or SBF.
Thanks ken, How's the new atrix brorher?

So is there any particular benefit to using this instead of the flashable zip beta #4 thing you have in the dev forum?
Why does the brief mobile site say you need CWM? Your instructions just say fastboot. I am relatively new at this so excuse the stupid question if it is one.
So before flashing this we need to unlock bootloader by flashing the pudding unlock sbf. After that can we gain root by using the root.zip found on the other threads by flashing with cwm

So does this work just as well as the other one that was removed because of potentiak damages to peoples phone? I just want to make sure if I use this I have everything working, like the fingerprint reader.
seems good, lets try

The download links for the image pack is below those instructions, because those are for something else. Just use fastboot for these.
Sorry, if I am being a bit thick here.
Having installed this update, one should generally avoid installing future OTA's, correct?

Hi Ken,
Could you please help to clarify:
1- I have already been on 2.3.4, using flashable zip for locked bootloader. Anything different between your rom and the previous flashable zip file ? Is your file is final one ?
2- Noting that using 2.3.4 via flashable zip for locked bootloader, I can not flash back to stock 1.8.3 rom (or I have to use the modded stocked 1.8.3 with unlocked bootloader). Can I flash back the stock 1.8.3 (original one) after using your file ?
Hope your reply soon
Thank you very much,
Quang

If you're on the OTA zip... just stay... you've already got a STOCK ROM.
After inputing the command everything seems to be fine. Upon rebooting the phone said unable to boot starting RSD mode. I am currently flashing to 1.8.3 with rsd lite. Any idea why that happened before I try again?

Tks Ken,
How about the possibility of flash back to 1.8.3 ? Can I back after using your file ? If I can, can I upgrade to your file without hard brick my phone ?
Noting that your file is more completed than flashable ZIP file (more img files)
One more thing, after using your file, can I use OTA when AT&T officially announces the final one ?
Best regards,
Quang

ME860 with stock 2.3.4 flashing CM7 not fully booted

I have a ME860 with official 2.3.4 updated, i yesterday unlocked the Bootloader with IHOP_Bell.sbf and have CWM flashed successfully. But my phone booted into command line saying OS not detected and was stucked at the command line with 14modes available.
I got into Recovery and flashed to CM7(latest Bat2F.zip) and it completed without error. Now the command line says OS will Boot in 5 secs but is again stucked with Cold Boot Linux Reading ODM Fuse:1 displayed.
I am new to this can someone help me out here ? Thank you
Are you messing around with RSD at all?
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
the only time i used RSD is to flash the IHOP_Bell.sbf to enable unlocking the bootloader. As for flashing the CWM i did tru the Fastboot command from the computer. After that I have never touch RSD at all.
the phone boots up showing unlocked on the top left of the screen. however what i found a bit strange was, right after i flashed the IHOP_bell.sbf, the phone always boots up in the bootloader mode. i thought it was normal that way, so from there i selected the fastboot mode and the phone did boot into fastboot. then i connect the USB cable and entered the fastboot oem unlock and successfully unlocked the phone.
after that, i flashed the CWM recovery mode using moto-fastboot flash recovery and it was done, and i am able to get into CWM recovery options too.
Actually i am thinking of flashing the HKTW fruitcake sbf, do u think it is a good idea ? or should i try something else first?
I wouldn't touch that. I personally never used that. I would wait till another user comments.
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
i tried the fruitcake anyways, and it actually booted up !!
i took a look at the phone details. my phone is now MB860 instead of ME860 which i had b4. anyways there seems to be minor bug with this stock HKTW ROM cuz in the phone details , the version number has a userdebug name in it. so i guess thats way its not stable
will try to flash CM7 again
CM7 still not working, any ideas anyone ??

What CWM are you using? If it doesn't support ext4 that might be your problem. The things you've successfully flashed are all ext3.
Make sure you're using ROM Manager's or romracer's. Those are the only ones that support ext4.
Need to know what recovery you have installed & did you wipe data/factory rest & wipe both caches before flashing CM7????
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
thank you guys ! i was using this CWM recovery-en-goapk-0630-1029.zip
also from xda so i thought everything was good
so now i have CM7 up and running !!!!
I thought that was deprecated? I may be wrong
I use romracers and sometimes the one in rom manager
but ididnt like it

Hello, i got one ME860 Atrix from Hong Kong, and updated the stock rom to 2.3.4 already.
I would like to try the Neutrino rom, as it so beautiful
i have unroot it by using superoneclick 2.2, installed RSD 5.3.1,
then i have confused what is my next step for unlock bootloader process...
i should flash the IHOP_Bell.sbf or OLYEM_U4_2.1.1_SIGNED_UCAOLYPORTFR_P014_A004_M001_HWolympus_1g_1FF.sbf
?? anyone can help me Anyway, thanks a lot~~
Motorola ME860 successful unlocked IHOP_Bell.rar
Then install recovery from fastboot
and ROM from CWM

[Q] Motorola Atrix 4G UK T-Mobile MB860

Right, before i start, i tried posting in the development forum but i cant so here i am.
Basically, ive rooted my atrix with the super one-click method.
now im trying to install a recovery. Im trying romracer's cwm but the method described in various sources and here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
ive previously tried rom manager but i got stuck at failed to boot 2
i then tried tenfars but could only access the recovery if the phone was powered off then connected to mains power. so after a full wipe im back at stock trying romracers
system version:
45.31.2.mb860.t-mobile.en.gb
android version:
2.3.4
baseband version:
n_01.100.00r
webtop version:
wt-1.2.0-133_38
kernel version:
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #2
build number:
4.52a-74_ole-31.2
basically, how do i get rom racers installed with the moto-fastboot.
it just doesnt seem to work for me
Have you unlocked your bootloader? I'm pretty sure you need to do that first, then you should be able to use rom manager to install that recovery.
I don't have links as I'm out at the moment but I know with fastboot I flashed a recovery with about 4 simple commands.
Don't try this because I'm not sure and I'm taking a wild guess but I think the commands were something like this:
moto-fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery-file.img
moto-fastboot reboot
I will confirm later but I'm sure your problem is that you need to unlock your bl.
Edit: also dev section would have been the wrong place but then again so is this, should have gone in q and a really.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
ah right, well my understanding is that the bl was unlocked when the gingerbread update rolled out.
i shall give it a go though.
No my friend it wasn't you'll need to read up on unlocking bootloader and then you'll be able to flash your recovery easy peasy
