Wildfire is my 1st Android phone and I was unable to tell if it is considered at fastest performance or swiftest response, until I was shown one of my friends' Magic on Cupcake with Sense (non-OC). I should say it's a real Magic when compared to my Wildfire OC @ 710MHz (coz 768M is buggy n slower at times). I almost poped-out my eyes when I see its performance.
So, I wanna know if it's got anything to do with the ROMs, or just WF is really a 3rd-rated @#%^&*; or does my WF think I'm so stupid that I'll nvr find out that it is slacking. (pardon my bad words)
Well, let's find out. Pls vote in the poll which you think is fastest for you.
REmember: Here I am finding out which ROM is fastest; not necessarily best with Extra app or launcher or settings. I am more interested in things like split-second response to swipe-answering incoming calls and non-stop-motion swiping across screen. Thanks for everyone in advance.
If you want freaking performance, you must get rid of HTCSense. I recommend using OpenFire. More responsive and faster than CM for me..
You can answer and reject the call with swipe in htc sense, actually . The fastest is the one ROM, with very difficult name, author says, its an absolutely bare android 2.2, extremely stable and fast.
Sunaabh ROM
Well yeah, it's hard to compare Sense-based and AOSP-based ROMS. IMO, SunAabh is the fastest ROM between Sense-based ROMs. But not enough fast for me, cause all the Sense "Loading boxes" pisses me off seriously.
Openfire is fastest. Even after having installed bunch of files: dosctogo, Skype, tango, and other heavy apps, Openfire is still fastest. Do not see logic behind HTC putting own apps over aosp making system less responsive. With non-overclocked CPU and running livewallpapers get 2.4 Mflops.
Sent from my wildfire using XDA App
OpenFire is the fastest, u have to mod it like u want.
Wildpuzzle is slow because it is with HTC Sense. CyanogenMod is faster, but OpenFire is the fastest because it is a NAKED ROM without any extensions.
But Openfire with Jit on and ovefclocked cpu is not stable, CM ROM is pretty stable overclocked+jit

It is stable, just setcpu min 245 and 691 Max and it is fine.

I know what you mean I was using wildpuzzle (newest one) it was fast.
But when you quit a game it restarts the whole sense.
It was battery byebye.
So I'm using openfire for a long time ( a week ) ((again xD)) and it is still the fastest one so sense just sucks and non sense = more CPU ( sense does use a lot )
Just a question!!!
Since there is no chance to root a device using Froyo 2.2 or 2.2.1, how can people still overclock and flash custom roms??

Only official Froyo OTA can't be rooted. The ones available in Custom ROM's are "Safe" versions having their HBOOT removed, which enables them to remain rootable.
Great news! Finally now it Can be S-OFF and rooted!
I NEED to find the best ROM out there for the G2/Desire Z! let me know what you think it is!!
-Post what rom it is.. INCLUDING Build Number
-Explain why it is the best!
-Post a screenshot of your favorite screen i.e wallpaper..favorite widget etc..
If you could, let me know how good battery life is and stability!
-Looking for an everyday rom.. if possible
-Thanks!
I've tested several ROMs on my DZ and now I use Vision Unity.
It's basicly a 2.1/3.0 Sense hybrid ROM giving you real eye-candy.
In the latest version (1.29.0) I found some bugs/disadvantages:
- the homescreen does not rotate on keyboard open
- sometimes it lags a bit
- it takes about 300 MB ram after start, leaving you just about 70MB free (other roms are much better in this criteria)
- I experienced already few times sudden phone restart (phone just lying on table, no aggresive apps run like 3d games etc, and after few hours I take the phone and it asks for PIN) = pretty critical if you wait for an important call.
but among the roms I've tried, this seems far the best if you decide to have HTC Sense. If you can miss sense, stick to CM7, there are really cool features like finetuning the display auto brightness intensity levels (really killer feature to battery life!)
I enjoy Virtuous Sense 2.0.0 because I find it to be consistently fast and responsive, everything works for me all the time, and I still have enough ram to run a couple of apps in the background, unlike every sense 3.0 rom/hybrid I've tried.
Highly highly recommended.

LMFAO.
Cyanogen MOD 7 RC 1 or if your so inclined, nightly build #156.
- So far after testing a few ROM I've been back to CM7. Why? Once installed and running and even with keep all my favourite apps open and running in the background, I still manage to keep about 80mb of ram and CPU usage is usually between 2% and 82% with an average of 4 or 5 programs running. Ok a bit excessive I know but it still works.
I have custom memory script running that's available here on XDA and various other gadget. Battery life is usually fairly consistent with 1day 9hours of use. I use the device quite a bit in a day.
Power saving options: Brightness is set to 20% only, Juice Defender installed.
Running background application is limited to my email mostly unless I'm doing some work. Most of the time email, exchange, Facebook and twitter are sync.
I'm using Launcher Pro with the license for my main interface. Here are some screen captures for your pleasure.

Personally, my favorite ROM is MIUI.us
The stock Music app in it, is my favorite music app by far, I especially love how it not only gets the lyrics, but also scrolls them karaoke style with the song. It also has a nice theming system, and a great built in theme. Everything overall looks nicer than stock Android.
Another great thing about it is the status bar, you can enable/disable USB Mass Storage using an on/off slider in the notifications, and I love the way the switches work in the status bar.
Then there's the stock Launcher, which is much nicer than the stock Android launcher in my opinion, though I still replace it with Go Launcher, again, my personal favorite.
If you're looking for a responsive, nice looking, and user friendly ROM, MIUI.us would be my suggestion. It also has a nice backup feature with their servers. You just need to make an MIUI account. Not sure if it's still necessary, but back when I did it, I had to go to the chinese MIUI website and use Google Translate to make my account <_<

The best rom is hardest to define because it's really up to personally preference. MIUI? Sure if you're into that whole thing, but frankly I have trust issues with Chinese tech companies for reasons that have been in the news here and there.
Cyanogenmod is a great AOSP rom even though it's not 100% AOSP it's quick, intuitive, and has lots of options that would allow you to customize it as you want.
There are other roms such as OTA roms that have been made that are also very quick, but not quite as intuitive and they are not as easily customized as some other roms.
Now we get into Sense. There are ports of great roms from other devices that may have a minor bug here and there. Unity is a great rom but I know it needs work on it simply because of little bugs here and there, lack of ram of the Vision, and the battery drain of 1.31 is not so appealing. These roms do not perform as well as Sense roms made for the Desire Z, how ever you do not have some sense 3.0 features that make Sense so much more enjoyable to use.
I currently run Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 and it's a very quick rom, but it lacks the eye candy that we all would love with Unity. However what I love about the sense community is that there are many themes and many ways to enhance sense with add-ons here and there which I have done.
I want to clearly state that this is just my opinion and you should try out the roms for your self to get your own opinion and know your personal preference what appeals to one person is not always the same as the next.
Virtuous unity 1.31
Just test it , good for daily use
meXdroidmod Pre Ghost Chili rom! Based on CM7 2.3.4. You want speed, eye candy animations, consistent dev support, and great battery life? Look no further! PreGhost features "tweaKr" script which allows for amazing customization. You can easily down volt your voltages to create great battery life. tweakr menu pick below from terminal emulator...

Super cm7 is still my favorite. I keep trying other roms but I always come back to this one because it is super fast and clean. Mexdroid is pretty good to but it is too themed for me. I think they are working on a more stock version which could be pretty sweet.

Actually, I'm now running the "Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 :: Enhanced & Optimized Stock ROM (2.42.405.2)". I miss the Sense 3.0 features, but I can try to flash some available mods. Especially the brightness setting in the quick setting.
But it's a small tax for a stable ROM without restarts.
Hello everyone, I'm new in this forum. Actually I use a RCMIX 3D (sense 3.5) ROM which is quite satisfactory in terms of battery consumption.
However, considering the fact that I do not go behind the latest developments in graphics, velocity etc, I looking for a new ROM that, of all, offers exceptional durability of the battery during daily use (data, internet, push email, sync a few). I do not know about what really orient me ... I accept all the advice possible, regardless of whether it is "sense" or not. Thanks
i personally Think the rcmix sense 3.5 rom is one of the best out there right now..if you are not satisfied try android revolution, thats sense 3.0 though

Is better for battery consumption?
I've read about HydrOG3n...
my dhd lasted about 2.5 Days on last charge, and that is pretty Amazing in my mind (with rcmix runny rom) but android revolution is a Little bit better on that Point i think..no superultrabig difference, but you should get a coupple of hours extra i think.
btw: i am coming from revolution to rcmix and the thing that made me stay on this one is the sense 3.5 (ofcourse) and the awesome rcmix setting menu that lets you change pretty much whatever you like, a bit like wannabe cyanogenmod =) really cool i think
imo, LM kernel roms (CM7 and miui based ones such as hydrogen) have excellent battery life. Stock CM7 also has OK battery life.
Radios should also affect the battery life

what are CoreDroid 8.1 rom specs?
How long does your battery with the full use of your rom?
cubases. Here are some screenshots of a few ROMs to help you see some visual differences.
And here is the up-to-date list of Desire HD ROMs here at XDA. That way you can click on each one to visit the thread and see any specs or info for yourself.
Personally - I use MIUI Freshly Squeezed at the moment as I really love the complete UI change. (Having said that I don't like the latest theme so much with the latest release but I change it back to the original or different theme at the touch of a button.) MIUI feels like a completely different device. That said - I try many ROMs and enjoy most of them unless I'm put off by the visuals/colors etc.

I think you go to wrong direction. I don't think there's a significant difference between the ROMs according to power consumption. Now I am not with CoreDroid 8.1 . I think it's with 2.3.4 kernel (don't think, that if was with 2.3.5 it will be 100% better) .
With full use every ROM will give you max 1 day. With a moderate use - 2 days with no problems with CoreDroid/RCMix/ARHD roms. The main consumption is from the lcd (ROM independant).
Some advices - switch off every antenna you don't use - BT/Wi-Fi/mobile network/3G . Especially switch off mobile network and set everything to manual update. 3G network also consumes a lot of energy. For calls 2G is fair enough.
Well if you need network access any time a day and automatic update - nothing you can do. You will charge the phone every day.
And other advice - charge the phone with USB cable (on a PC) at any time. Don't wait the battery to fall. Just watch to keep the memory in 20-80% (bellow 20 and above 80 it will use more battery recharge cycles).

I'm using juicedefender ultimate with aosp support, you can configure a lot of option of the network usage!
On MIUI rom, I've used it a lot, great rom, nice UI(iPhone app management style with Samsung style screen customization) , a lot of customizable setting, nice theme and useful features and good battery life, I always suggest to try it!
Now I'm testing DeSenseNG based on official sense 3 for DHD (love htc app) and I think is very good room, smooth and with a little UV a really good battery!

I haven't used Hyperdroid before. In fact, this is the only NAND ROM I've ever used, but it has given me a good experience from the beginning. Having used SD Android for ages, this was much more responsive and generally faster.
Hyperdroid is the best non-sense/miui rom out there for me.

If you are using Multipicture Live Wallpaper (+ its transition effects) GO Launcher isnt that smooth. Its way too overloaeded. ADW is in combination with that Live Wallpaper the better solution. ADW Ex simply runs faster and have more then enough settings. GO Launchers zoom animation in appdrawer isnt smooth too.
Go launcher has everything but that doesnt makes it better.

I don't use live wallpapers and I've honestly found ADW to be the slowest launcher out there. GO Launcher is for me the most consistent. Launcher Pro is the fastest and copes best with widgets, but force closes on me every time I update an app from the market . If you are have a widget-heavy homescreen, Launcher Pro or GO Launcher are by far your best options. Judging by this post, however, if you have a live wallpaper ADW is better.
I'm running Typhoon CM7 + Go Launcher without Live Wallpaper and have no issues with it. I like the GO Launcher better but ADW was running also just fine but I think this is matter of personal taste.
I've tried Hyperdroid, Coredroid, Energy, Bluedroid, Nexus but I'm sticking to Typhoon CM7 for now. Coredroid HD GB with Sense looks awesome but for me it was laggy and slow.

Be sure not to keep the CPU overclocked at 1.5GHz all the time, use different profiles and probably use 'Smartass' governor so that you don't end up with a destroyed CPU.

Every 3.5 sense rom i've tried so far get laggy and buggy after time. I'm now using ICS mexdroid rom and this is really really really the fastest experienxe so far for me personally.
Try the energy series.
Virtuous Affinity 2.05.0 was a fantastic ROM to use after i debloated it and supercharged it. I used it for about 2 weeks with the HTC Amaze cam mod and that was by far one of my favorite Sense ROMs. I normally stick to AOSP ROMs though because Sense 3.5 is just not meant for our phones. That's the reason why we didn't get an update to Sense 3.* and that's also the reason why our phones won't get an update to ICS, because our phones won't be able to handle Sense 3.6 either.

jup, andromadus beta 3 is the best rom ever
ARHD 7.0.4:
i suggest you: unistall via titanium all unused apps/widgets (personaly i have only the calendar and the weather widgets) then you need swap,v6 supercharger,sd boost. enable swap, set sd cache to 8192, run supercharger(my opinion option13 for rosie and 6 for memory)
bulletproof the com.android.mms. cpu sleep 245 conv. wake 1.2+ ondemand.
you will have all time 100+ mb free not loosing you message(i rec to have the ghostly), playable, smooth. always you will have lag or freezes is a sense 3.5 rom in a 512 rem device. is the best that you can do. i have tried everything.
edit:BUT ALWAYS YOU WILL HAVE THE CAMERA FLASH BAG (flash doesnt open in the same time when the camera captures a picture so the image is black) this is the reason i let the 3.x roms. you cant fix it even install the amaze mod camera even a 3rd party app or different kernel...
Okay to cover this one more time:
Sense 3 and 3.5 roms are not ever going to work well on the G2 series. Dead Stop. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
The G2 series does not have sufficient system horsepower to properly run a Sense rom of this series. You want Sense UI and G2 in the same package? Great. Run Virtuous Sense 2. It is based on the DZ firmware and is very stable.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
