Why isnt there any development for this version of the tab?
Sent from my Incredible 2 3D using xda premium
I would guess its because its more expensive, not as many people have it, and perhaps the LTE radio complicates it a bit (?).
jfl0wers has a custom ROM that a few of us are helping test out. Works wonderfully but auto screen rotation is currently broken (just a heads up). I linked the thread below.

hello!
this is my first time posting here. im planning to buy a galaxy tab wifi only model. the only problem i have right now is that im unsure if i could use the developments in the CDMA or GSM parts of the forum about the tab. Or am i right in thinking that i cannot use either?
thanks!
Its a fairly new device. With different firmware. So I say wait till its in circulation and devs start working on its ROMs.
Thanx for the quick reply sir. I am also concerned with the considerably lower chance of the WiFi only model being updated to 3.0, whether by Samsung or someone here in the forum. If that's my concern, would you advice me to get the gsm version instead?

I've done a search with no luck. Where can I find the most comprehensive instructions for installing Honeycomb to the original Galaxy Tab?
Thanks!
Over in the development forum in this very section. I think both CDMA and GSM variants only ever managed to get WiFi working and that was it. Now that the full source of Honeycomb and ICS are out, there might be something new coming, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Ok. Thanks for the info.
do you still have the honeycomb files? oldmacnut pulled them i never gotta check it out if you do can u post a link or pm me
I havent been able to find anything regarding honeycomb on the 7" SGT as well. I read that Honeycomb was geared towards dual core devices though. I wouldnt expect great performance if someone was able to develop it for the SGT. Just mu $0.02.

I was running the Alpha/RC1 build for a couple of days on my GSM P-1000T and it wasn't bad. Only problems were a few graphical glitches (notification area quick toggles didn't appear) and the major ones were that I couldn't get my 3G service to work and I couldn't access the internal SD card. Other than that, not a bad OS, but probably not a daily driver level just yet.

I have been using the same RC1 build for the last week. I have major battery issues, takes forever to charge.
What did you go to after this? The time it takes me to charge my battery alone is enough reason for me to change ROM's.
Back to the original topic:
There is a thread in the general section 4th one down for the RC1 build if you want to test it out.

cdma honeycomb beta 1.0
First of all sorry if this has been asked many times, I haven't found exact answers.
What is stopping GT-P7500 getting ICS stable and camera working as it should? As owener of this model I am very dissapointed with this model stock software and I am placing my hopes on ICS from any source (I hsve a modded Honeycomb which runs many times better than stock but still I am not happy since the best I found working for me was a ROM for the P7510 losing 3g support).
Is it Samsung not releasing drivers they should?
Is because of Nvidia not releasing Tegra2 drivers?
Or.. for example CyanogenMod team have all they need and it is a matter of time?
Thanks in advance!
First off I feel your pain but try and understand how hard the Cyanogenmod guys work. They provide an amazing product for free so patience is key.
That being said I have been running the p4 snapshots of ics on my GT-P7500 for awhile now and it runs beautifully minus the camera. Realistically you aren't going to use the camera that much anyways on a tablet.
It runs smooth and flawlessly and has really impressed me so far.
Find the link to Droid basement that gets you to the snapshots. Give it a try it can't hurt. You can find the link in this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461240&page=140
I would post the full link but I don't have enough posts yet.
Enjoy!
Or you can try the Overcome ROM (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348533), runs Android 3.2, but is very smooth if you combine it with the kernel provided by pershoot (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138167)
Thanks for the answer guys.
My queries were more to find out if the delay is because Samsung's fault for not releasing drivers for the community.
Of course for the cyanogenmod team I have all the patience in the world and my utmost respect for them, In fact all my hopes are in the devs community like them instead of samsung or htc (I own a desire), etc. for taking care of the devices I own For me it's clear which is the priority of most manufacturers.
Sorry to hijack this, but does anyone who's used the current ICS editions for the P7500 know if exchange email works "fully" (with calendar etc...) when I tried one of the first ROMs, this wasn't working.
Those you have live/hotmail accounts and have it setup as an exchange account should be able to confirm this one way or another.

You're welcome buddy i'd love to know more too, something will come.
Not sure about exchange haven't tried it yet. I unfortunately have to carry a second phone for work that's all set up with exchange. Its a Blackberry Bold 9900....boooooooo! If I see something I'll post it.
Cheers

We need propriatery video/camera libs from samsung to work in ics, with tegra libs that has the specific video/camera libs compiled in. So we need libs from both,my understanding in any case, and that is only going to happen once an ics rom gets released/leaked.

Does 3G work with the CM release or is it wifi only? I have an unlocked Rogers galaxy tab 10.1 and would love to try out ICS on it.
3G works
I have a P 7500, and 3g works perfectly well.
So does the WI-FI, tethering etc.
I tried to have CM on my 10.1, but can't get it through, running AOKP M5 now on it, everything works fine on AOKP ICS, so you can try it, U will get addicted to it
exchange work great with milestone 5

Since the launch of the phone is eminent - I figured I would set up this thread for people to request features or mods to be included in the ROMs that are developed for this phone.
If you have a MOD or a feature you had on your previous phone and would like to have it ported over to the GSIII please post it here along with a link to the the original MOD.
I look forward to see what the DEV support will be like for this phone.
REQUESTS: (Collected from thread)
MODS / HACKS
- Continuous scrolling in the app drawer can be changed to scroll right into the widgets tab
- Five App Columns in TW
- A circular battery with percentages, with charging animation, kind of like style A at the UOT Kitchen
- Extended power menu
- Extended notification menu
- Fully rotating desktop, like in Andromeda3
- Remove the at&t branding from notification bar
- Port of AOKP
- Free way to tether
- Remove most of the bloatware
- Voodoo sound
- SamsungDive
- LED notification colors can be changed for specific events
- Convenient method for setting brightness
- A stable USB mass storage mode that does not trash your flash/SD memory
- modded email app that will allow administrator-less access to exchange
- Include the AOSP ringtone/notification/alarms/UI audio alongside samsung's "inspired by nature"
- HQ camera - hi res video at 30 fps, quieted shutter, better sound encoding on video, Concert mode for better sound recording
PORTS
- Ezekeel Kernel
- Stock ICS experience - None CM9 - ie GNexus
- Debloated and optimized TW Rom
- AOKP
- Cyanogen Mod 9
- Fireflys Themes
- ParanoidAndroid Hybrid ROM
THEME COLORS
- Charcoal and light blue combination themes, apps, and dialer
- Lime green color, ROM themes, apps and dialer
idk if this is possible but if the continuous scrolling in the app draw can be changed to go right into the widgets tap that would be nice
i understand that there r launchers out there that would do that for me but just to keep TW would be nice
Five app icons on a single row... I know there's a name for it, but I don't remember it.
I would just love for gtg465 to jump on board and make a tw based rom. Totally a elite dev IMO.

First things I'd like to see is
Confirmed method to wipe ROM Install counts (Triangle?)
Root, with method for UnRoot
Devil Kernel on this phone
If you couldn't tell, my priority while under warranty time would be a way to restore to default in case of warranty need.
Those items are a given.... Hence what do you want in your ROMs.... My understanding is both triangle away and the use jig still work for resetting Odin count
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I've been reading quite a bit, and I read the jig works for getting into download, but does not reset count; and I've read that Triangle will need to be modified to work.
Who know which is right?
I'm basing my 'wants' on what I've experienced with an ICS ROM and Kernel on my Captivate.
I'm particularly interested in kernel things such as overclocking; undervolting; possibly Swap/Zram support; and good tools for modifying. As example, this Kernel for AOKP ICS used on Captivate (and others I believe); and this for making mod settings in the Kernel.
Looking forward to AOKP on the S3...personally i think touchwiz is beyond horrible
Think I will give stock TW a run for a little bit since it is getting some great reviews.
However AOKP is a must and I would love to see MikeyMike bring over Serendipity 9 if he goes this route.
As far as a specific thing in a ROM.....I gotta go with AOSP mms and email apps....TW ones really are junk.

Lol we won't need swap on this phone. As much as I love the function (and love to brag about it), 2gb of RAM is going to be way way more than enough ;P

Highly unlikely. Newer devices (see Galaxy Note and Tab 2) and even newer bootloaders on devices like the SGSII do not allow the jig to work when it comes to resetting the binary counter.
Also Triangle Away DOES NOT work with non Exynos processors which is why it works on the international SGSIII but does not work with the Skyrocket, US Galaxy Note, and most likely not the North American SGSIII. (maybe I'll be proven wrong)
So my vote would be to first find a method of rooting and installing CWM without tripping the counter, similar to some of the great work that the devs on the US Galaxy Note have done recently.

radio firmware for the HSPA + 42 supported by the S4 on the At&t version and radio firmware for LTE on the T-mobile version.
When I can get a hold of firmware I can get u guys full rotating desktop and advanced power menu... As well as 360 rotation on lock? Anywhere I could pickup framework

I have to admire your tenacity ... did you search for all my posts and decide to "warn" people about the risks of odin and the jig issue. I am sure it is appreciated by those who are here because they want to make their phone cool. Please remember that this is a DEVELOPERS forum which implies that the people here are aware that making modifications to your phone will void their warranty.
With that being said... in the other thread you mentioned that people are putting your posts down... this could be because you are posting the same information in every single forum and thread.
You made a post about the dangers of ODIN in the Development forum... even though this post had no development use and should have been in the general section... further you posted the info in the ODIN forum and this MODs/HACKS thread...
We got it - installing ODIN on your computer will void your phone warranty. I have gladly added a warning to my ODIN thread in the hopes of Warning people and I gave you the credit for the info... let's stop cluttering the forums and stealing threads...
I would absolutely love to have one of the first phones to run Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean. Just because.

I know at one time we had a dev for the LTE Tab but it seems Childofthehorn has abandoned the device either by choice or other workload. I've attempted to contact her to see if there was any work being done on it and was meet with no response is there any other dev that might be able to either ghost dev or is there anyone who could set up atleast 1 or 2 roms for us left out Tab users?
I would also contribute to this effort. I have a nandroid back up of completely stock rom if it would be of any help to a developer.
