R800x with UK firmware - Xperia Play General

Here is what happens when you take a stock rooted 2.3.2 with unlocked bootloader Verizon Xperia Play and then fastboot the system.sin file from the generic UK 3.0.1.A.0.145 file. Then fastboot DoomLord's v3 Kernel. Finally flash Chevy's FTS v05 v2 CDMA patch which is just an updated Semcphone.apk. You get a fully functional CDMA phone with Timescape. Everything works: messaging, email, 3G, navigation, wifi, phone, contacts. 2 exceptions: multimedia messaging doesn't work and camera is very, very slow. Edit: I also get the incoming call glitch that was evident on FTS v05 ROM which must be related to the updated semcphone.apk.

EDIT: Here is a zip file to install using CW recovery. It has working mms utilizing the stock Mms.apk. It already includes the CDMA patch for the phone so do not flash the CDMA patch after installing this or mms sending will not work. Many thanks to zerojay. I am using some of his extras features from his zerorom and also using his update script.

I wouldn't mind testing out timescape ui. I may just have to try this out. Thank you.
I am running 2.3.3 with riit and unlocked bootloader, you think I will have any issues trying this? Is the uk rim 2.3.3?
Sent from my R800x using xda premium

You shouldn't have any problems except the ones I stated above. This is the UK 2.3.3. I was just wanting to try out the Timescape UI and will play with it this week. I am uploading the system.sin file now which you will fastboot and will add link to my dropbox. I am also uploading the CDMA patch which you flash from zip in CW recovery after everything else is done.

Here is the system.sin file. Unzip and fastboot: fastboot flash system systemUK.sin
http://db.tt/l71ioI2h
Here is the CDMA patch zip. Copy to SD card and install zip through CW recovery from DoomLord's Kernel.
http://db.tt/HOi4V4by

Downloading the attached files now. Thank you 007. I will post my results and if I see any other issues I will alos post those. Maybe we can try and make a perfect 100% working Timescape UI Sys file for R800X users who are interestd in trying this out. The timescape looks awesome.
Would it be possible to just flash the SEMCphone.apk from the R800x system folder zip that and flash that to the phones through recovery? Tha way we have a working phone (meaning the sliders to accept/rejet are lined up right)
Just a thought
Is DoomKernels kernel in the systemUK.sin file? When I flashed it it said flashing bootloader..... odd. I will just reflash DoomKernels kernel. Just wondering

Flashed and got a ton of FC. I will wipe everything, try again and leave my results

Seems to be running awesome. Loving the UI. I am restoring my apps now. I may just copy over the semcphone.apk with the one from my Verizon stock rom and see what happens. So far I like it a helluva lot better then hte vanilla, even though I up till now hated UIs and prefered vanilla. MY friend loves Sense roms and says he is jealous with how cool Timescape is. Kudos big time 007shark.

Thanks a lot for this, 007shark. My phone looks more attractive now. I'm really liking the timescape widgets.

Sorry for the double post but I thought it might be worth mentioning.
It seems the camera is fully functional if you keep the stock kernel. Also my phone is louder with the stock kernel since I noticed the DoomLord v3 kernel had low volume, at least for me. I also receive MMS but it seems that I can't send. It's stuck at "Sending".

Finally us R800x users get what we deserve

I loaded this systemuk.sin and chevy patch on my r800x and so far I really like it! Even tethering works. Thanks!!
I was thinking I could just install any Verizon apps I want from the link in this first post of this thread "all original apks":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201725.
I really dont miss any VZW apps yet. I also flashed Doom Kernel and it works too.
I cant find any major problems except for the MMS. That is a bummer though. Is there anything we can do to fix this???

I have been looking into the MMS problem. I will have to decompile the stock messaging apk and the conversations apk on the uk firmware to see if the 2 could be married. I also just updated my stock 2.3.2 to 2.3.3. I am going to try this firmware with the new verizon 2.3.3 kernel to see what happens.
EDIT: my first attempt with this on the new stock 2.3.3 kernel results in the touchscreen not responding.
2nd try - I pulled battery, reinserted, and rebooted phone. Everything works as it does with stock 2.3.2 kernel although you don't get the benefits of being able to overclock or tether, but the volume does seem louder and the camera is fully functional.

I flashed DoomKernel to my phone when I flashed the UK rom and also the CDMA patch and I get Timescape with a overclocking and clockwork recovery. Really liking it. If you dont want the timescape yoiu can install another launcher ( I used GO) and then make that your default launcher, go into /system/app folder and delete all files pertaining to Timescape, reboot and you are set. A working 2.3.3 UK rom with Verizon bands and OC, with Recovery. I set my phone to 1.2ghz and use xCharge to reboot or enter recovery. Although with DoomKernel installed you just press the back button a few times on boot up to access the custom recovery.

Yes! I also used 2.3.2, then 2.3.3 system.img, Doom kernal, and go launcher. This is by far the fastest rom I have yet to test on my device.
Perhaps I did something wrong but I dont get good performance out of the newest CM7 so I restored back to this.
Even love that clear sms.
I do have a wish list for this rom. Just thought I would write them out in case anyone had helpful ideas...
-Working MMS - only flaw
-How to remove the first slider lock screen so I can pattern unlock
-Working delvik cache move please!! - I need space and cant get it to work. I tried several cw .zip and manual process.
-Safe app removal for this rom would be sweet
-Camera - faster shutter?
Anyhow this is still my rom of choice so far on my unlocked Verizon r800x! Thank you

There is a working dalvik cache hack for the r800x. Forgot the link, just google xda r800x dalvik hack and it comes up.

This looks pretty cool! Did anyone figure out the slow camera and the multimedia msg'ing and the lower volume problems?

Not sure if anyone is still messing with this.
Does anyone know if there is a way to pull the timescape settings menu and add to stock rom? I cant seem to get the timescape background only the settings icons change.
If theres a thread on timescape could someone point me in the right direction, I dont wanna double post

hey guys, I just wanted to share what I did with this. I pulled the 2.3.3 kernel from the Rogers branded tft file and flashed that to run with the UK firmware. Everything works. Camera works perfectly, wifi, etc. the only thing that appears to not be working is sending mms.

I am on page with you and thought about trying to rebuild the stock with additions from the 4.0.A.2.368 UK. There is more involved than just pulling the apks though. The framework-res needs modified and adding the SemcGenericUXP framework. There is alot of work involved which I believe the easier way is to just work out the bugs.
Unfortunately, there are not alot of CDMA devs with Sony Ericcson devices. I am a novice, but learning quickly. I am currently working on getting mms working. I have an idea for it. I am also looking into the options for adding in features like Bravia Engine and xLoud to give the features of the newer roms and also modifying DoomLord's older kernel for this firmware with his newer features from his 4.0.A.2.368 kernel. When this all happens this will move to the Development section.

Cool glad to know Im not a noob alone around here !
If I can give you a hand maybe we could work on it together. Im new to Xperia Play but im familiar with framework changing/changes and stuff, I just dont know where to start on mms an camera though.
But after flashing the method on your OP then I felt sorta ripped off by r800x when these UK firmwares seem to have a much nicer UI and it looks like a more classy phone, vs Verizons pretty much basic firmware. It shipped with 2.3.2 and looks like Android 2.0 from my super old droid.
Let me know if I can give u a hand.

Did you flash DoomKernel V3 or V4 because his V4 kernel with FW4.0.A.2.368 broke my physical buttons aswell. V4 is for a newer firmware 4.0.1.A.283 and above , for FW4.0.A.2.368 use Doom kernel V3.

[ROM][FROYO] Tayutama's 1.0.3 Lite Rom/Setiron's 1.2.6 Kernel with Extras

Hey guys, over the course of using my captivate there have been a few things I've come to appreciate but it seems I haven't found a rom yet to offer them all. One thing I like is touchwiz. I love the lockscreen and the brightness adjustment on the notification bar most. Next would be the android keyboard, I'm always hitting the damn period button on the samsung one... I also like having a battery with the percentage displayed. Backlight notification is useful too and lastly I like having an automatically alphabetized launcher like the stock touchwiz launcher. Oh and HSUPA is a must, obviously.
So I started with Tayutama's Rom. I then added the stock android keyboard and replaced the launcher with adw launcher because for the life of me I could not find a way to automatically alphabetize the launcher apps with Tayutama's launcher. Plus I just think adw looks cleaner. I also replaced the kernel with Setiron's optimized kernel, threw in setCPU, voltage control and BLN apps to control some of the kernel's features and lastly I replaced the JPM modem with JG8.
You may be wondering why I chose JG8 for the modem. Well read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816271
That explains how starting on JG8 produces a more reliable 850 band connection. I recommend flashing JPM or JPP over this modem after installation of the rom.
As for benches, I'm seeing about 17Mflops and 1900 Quadrant with advanced jfs lagfix.
So this rom pretty much gives me everything I've enjoyed in different roms but now in one. I didn't do any real work here, I just threw the things together into an update.zip. So if you wish to say thank you, say thank you to the real developers and donate to them.
Here's the link:
http://www.multiupload.com/LGYWA92SYW
To install simply reboot into clockwork recovery, install from zip and upon reboot enter clockwork recovery again and select your lagfix. Flashing back to stock and master clearing is always a good idea too.
I've been testing it for three days now and not a single problem or force close but I am not responsible for anything this may do to your phone, use at your own risk. That being said, enjoy!

UPDATE 1 The file has been updated with kernel 1.1.1 and the correct keyboard. Upload wasn't working so I updated the link
UPDATE 2 Kernel updated to version 1.2
UPDATE 3 Kernel updated to version 1.2.6
NOTE ABOUT BATTERY LIFE: Make sure to recalibrate your battery. After recalibration I'm getting great results as seen in the screenshot above
As of right now I've been unplugged for 17hrs 42m and I'm at 75% battery with I guess what you'd call light to moderate usage, a run or two of quadrant/linpack/gps test, two half hour phone calls, some browsing of the web/market, steady texting and some showing off of my phone to friends by flying through apps like it's nothing
This is with the JPP modem by the way and with a 50/25 undervolt.

Yes, use odin for the modem swap.
Make sure you put it in the 'phone' section.
Soo many good things lately in this forum. It's bananas. :] I'll do this when i wake up! btw.. is this 1.1.1 kernel?
I love Tayu's roms!! I asked him to make a theme rom for the DocRambone rom and now you have one... AH! What FW do you have?
This is just about what I am running now, except I had to piece mine together. Nice work LuckyX2

No unfortunately, When I made this the kernel was only at 1.1
I have some class and homework today but when I find time I'll update the kernel and put in the right keyboard into the update.zip
Until then, you'll just have to use clockwork recovery once more to update the kernel.

Firmware is JPM Froyo just as in Tayutama's. I am however considering doing what I did here but with Doc's newer Froyo and Tayutama's skin.

It's a good combo isn't it? I find it "feels" faster then the Doc/Setiron combo even though that has a newer froyo. Odd, maybe It's just my perception that's off.

Tayu's been working on his rom project and I haven't seen any update about a theme so if you could do that I'd be your test dummy
My combo that I love is Tayu's black UI with a green blackbar evo4g look and a specific batterymod.
LuckyX2 what tools did you use and/or tutorials for doing all this stuff? I'm finding myself geeking out with Linux a lot more and even made it my host OS on my laptop.

I've been doing the Setiron kernel with the config tweaks (i/o scheduler, vm kernel optimization, etc...) and it's much faster than when I was on JPM. The lagginess and hesitation has been greatly reduced. I'm also running the lagfix with Advanced frs-free w/ext4 partitions and the only i/o hangup i get is when I install apps and even that has been greatly reduced.

To be honest, I just kinda took a guess at how to do this and what do you know; when I flashed it to my phone it worked! I basically took Tayutama's Rom, unzipped it, replaced and added files and then zipped it back up. I don't know if you've ever looked inside an update.zip file but there's a folder inside if you unzip it called META-INF that has a script in it telling the phone where to put what. So I figured as long as I'm not putting anything anywhere that the script for Tayutama's rom isn't, then I should be ok to just use that script. Now I'm assuming that if I used a script from some update.zip that just updated the kernel then no matter what other files I may put in it would only copy over the kernel when installed. As for making your own update script, I don't know. I'm sure that requires some sdk knowledge of which I'm no help.
So here's an example: When I go to update this with the right keyboard and Setiron 1.1.1, all I will do is unzip the current one, replace the 1.1 kernel files with the 1.1.1 files, delete the current android keyboard apk and paste the LatinImeGoogle.apk in the same folder where I deleted the android keyboard apk and then zip it back up. Get it?
Maybe one of the pros can chime in but I think my logic is ok here. I mean it worked and all...

Sorry I missed your question earlier. Yes you can use odin but for those who find update.zip's easier you can use the update.zip provided on Setiron's thread which has the kernel and the modem. You don't need to flash the kernel but all it's doing is flashing the kernel over the same kernel so nothing changes. You'd really just be using the update.zip to copy over the modem.
I tried that and only copied over images and yet I was getting FC's on some of my main processes. I never touched the .xml files or messed around with anything. The only thing I can think of is that Tayu and those guys zipalign their apks so I'm debating trying out this apk manager they use.

The first time I put this together acore was fc'ing like crazy but the second time it worked. Go figure huh? The only thing I can think of that may have had an effect was there was a file in Setiron's kernel update.zip called NOTICE which I copied over the second time but not the first. I'm not too sure though.
Again, maybe a pro could chime in on the correct way.
:] saw the update to 1.1.1 downloading now!
lol i know you just uploaded it right now.. or something buh.. don't forget to update the thread title!

Can anyone currently using this provide any information on how that battery life is faring? Worse/same/better than stock 2.1 or 2.2?
Also, I'm still a noob when it comes to this stuff...I have no problem installing ROMs and whatnot, but when it comes to altering them in small ways, I usually try not to mess with it so...does this come with Swype functional? Thanks

Yep swype is included.
As for battery life, I was getting great battery life last night while still on the JG8 modem. Then I flashed JPP, charged overnight and now it seems to be draining faster. It's been 4hrs 32min since unplugged and I'm down at 66%. I did just get off of an hour long phone call though, so that hit it pretty hard. I'm going to charge it fully and do a recalibration of the battery to see if it's actually draining as quickly as it says.

Thanks for the info! Could you please explain (or point me in the direction of an explanation) as to what JPM and JPP means/does? I've gathered that they're names of modems, but as far as which one is better or what the differences are, I can't really tell...
I think the battery drain is just picky whenever we flash.. I think recalib is necessary every time we do a kernel flash or something.. :/
It sucks cause if we flash alot and do recalib alot lol our battery would suck

You're on the right track. I just skip a step and use 7zip to edit the .zip in place. I have my own custom version of all this mashed together as well. I may upload it at some point even.

[TELUS] [T959D] [DARKYROM] MODs and Enhancements

Hello All,
There are quite a few of us on the Telus Fascinate (T959D) that have gone through a number of upgrades and changes - with a lot of us now running Darkys ROM.
Wanted to post a general thread so we can share MODs and updates with another - tips for enhancements, etc.
Start sharing!
[Darky 10.2.2] >> [SensatioN Theme 1.8.1 JVQ]
Thanks for starting this Thread jpmccarthy!
I have successfully installed the 'SensatioN 1.8.1 JVQ' theme created by Crysis. I personally like the 'clean' feel of this theme along with some of the additional mods built into it:
- CRT screen animation
- Integrated 9 Lockscreens into the theme.
- Extended Power Menu with removed header
- New Battery
- Charging animation
- New Dropdown menu
- New layout for Dialer, Phone, Music Player
- Smaller progress bars
- Smoother, faster progress animation, flawlessly
- New signal and Wifi Icons - blue glow when non internet connection; green glow with internet connection
- New framework-res.apk images
- Over-scroll mod included
- And Much More!!
So basically if you had the EDT previously installed, there is no need for it now seeing that the additional Lock-screens where built into the theme.
These options are built into the actual 'System Settings' as 'TSM Lockscreen Menu' which is neat.
So far I have only encounter one issue, which is actually a known issue for some of the I9000 Roms (Darky's):
- The MIUI Lock screen will soft-boot your phone only when sliding the messages icon to unlock the phone. I do not use this anyways so it's no bother to me. Personally I like the new 'R2D2 Lock screen'
Installation:
The Steps I took to install SensatioN 1.8.1 JVQ running Darky 10.2.2 JVQ:
1.) Downloaded the 'SensatioN 1.8.1 JVQ' ZIP file and copied it over to the root of the Internal SD Card.
2.) Boot into recovery mode
3.) Delete Cache Partition: >> wipe cache partition >> Yes - Wipe Cache
4.) Delete Dalvik Cache: >> advanced >> Wipe Dalvik Cache
5.) Select Install ZIP from SD card and select the ZIP file.
Once the installation has completed, reboot your phone.
NOTE: The first reboot will take longer then usually so don't be alarmed.
I'm loving this theme. For additional information on this theme, please check out the following thread:

Sassy - I like that - might have to try it - is there a way to revert themes?
Also, much cooler if you would have got a screenshot of 'rock you like a hurricane' instead of wind of change (personally - I would have went for Dokken anyways!).
Also - what are you using for screenshots? I used to have shootme but lost it in my installs - and now cannot get it off the market anymore.

Also - what are you using for screenshots? I used to have shootme but lost it in my installs - and now cannot get it off the market anymore.

At the moment I don't think there is away to actually 'revert' back to Darky's original but they are currently working on an application for the Darky ROMs. The application is called Darky OTA which is still under development but it shouldn't be too much longer now
For more information on this application please check out the following:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/app-darkyota-application.5153/
I have already applied two other themes, one over the other without experiencing any issues but I wouldn't recommend doing this, I just got lucky I didn't Brick anything...Again
The screenshot application I am using is called 'Screen Capture Shortcut' and can be downloaded from the market here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.tomorrowkey.android.screencaptureshortcutfree
I posted this in the other thread, but I'm posting it here again for people who haven't seen it: http://uot.dakra.lt/how_to/
It basically lets you cook your own theme from a variety of different icons, lock screens, battery indicators, and more. It works by using some framework files you extract from your phone, uploading to their site, and it churns out a CWM flashable zip containing the mods you chose.
I used the sensation theme before, but I actually prefer the homescreen dock of his Revolution theme here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000049
edit: To revert to darky's "stock" theme, just reflash the rom, using No Wipe option in the darky's app
edit4: fixed the screenshot of my homescreen
edit5: htc sense-like widgets are "Weather & Toggle Widgets" and "Weather Widget Forecast Addon"
[Darky 10.2.2] Glass Dialer & Boot Up
I do have the dark knight and rain bootup from Darkys as well (http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/bootanimations-goldies-collection.1316/)
And the black dialer (http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/final-glass-dialer-for-10-2-jvq-jvr-jvs.4607/)
Took some screens but have to find a place to put those
Anyone know where I can find a stock looking theme for DarkyROM 10.2.2 EE? The default looks kinda tacky and far too green for my liking. Ideally, I'd love the Galaxy S Gingerbread theme from the Telus ROM but am having trouble finding it.
Any help?

Actually I was using the dark knight and rain bootup screen at first but I found that it was pretty laggy / jittery on my phone, so i switched to the following:
It runs smooth as silk!
There are some more cool boot up animations at the following:

I completely agree with how you feel about the darky theme. I was in the same boat, trying to find the stock Telus theme to write over darkys, but unfortunately, I never found one.
I suggest cooking your own theme using the online kitchen I linked above and choosing the stock gingerbread icons/battery/etc and flashing that instead.
Also, use Touchwiz Launcher as opposed to the stock Gingerbread launcher that's used by default for darky's
Currently trying the SensatioN theme posted above. It's nice, but if I could figure out a way to turn off that terrible overglow mod and get kinetic bounce back, it'd be most excellent.
Still poking around for a stock GB theme though. If I find something, I'll post it.
Alright... Using this theme.
It's as close to stock Gingerbread as I can find. It still has that stupid Overscroll colour BS, but... overall the ROM doesn't look half assed.

Modem Mod
Have you guys altered your modems?
I just flashed the KC modem - easy to flash via the Darky Rom Tool. Not seeing any benefits - or any degradation for that matter. Will let you know as I continue to use it.
Had a few people indicate this is the preferred modem for Canada - and have had a few people flash that use our phones.

so using KC1 with no ill effects - I don't really have any benchmarks to compare, but my GPS seems to lock quicker, and mobile strength seems to be better - might be placebo
Might be placebo, but had a few guys recommend the KC1 modem so likely will be sticking with that (apparently it also fixes a wifi issue with the JVS ROM for Darky's - I have not yet tried that ROM though).
[Darky XXJVS Base] + [Honeycomb Related Theme]
After talking a bit with jpmccarthy yesterday, I made the decision to Install the XXJVS based DarkyROM. I did a bit of reading on it first and noticed that a number of people were complaining about issues there connection with 3G and Wireless dropping.
I will tell you now that I have had NO issues with my connections dropping, they seem pretty solid. BUT.. There is an issue with the Browser downloading .ZIP files for some reason, the error messages says that 'this type of file is not supported'..Which I find weird but I found a work around for now which works great.
I just installed the app "Download All Files", which basically allows your phone to download almost any file, any extension. Works great.
Other then that I have not run into any other issues on XXJVS.
I also went a head and installed this Honeycomb theme for XXJVS roms and I think I found a keeper! Screen shots below.
I installed it coming from Darkyrom 10.2.2 (JVQ) and used the Darky tool to install it.
Under the DarkyROM tab, the ONLY items I had checked were; Wipe User Data >> Install Kernel >> Install Modem. That's it.
Like I said above, I haven't run into any other major issues and I'm definitely liking JVS based darky rom.
Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Here is the Honeycomb theme I installed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172906
This theme doesn't contain any additional lock screens or doesn't change the look for the 'Contacts' app either so what I plan on doling is this:
1.) Going to Install the 'Blue Contacts' mod from the following URL:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/final-glass-dialer-for-10-2-jvq-jvr-jvs.4607/
2.) Going to install the AOSP Lockscreen from the following:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/mod-darkyrom-jvs-base-with-aosp-lockscreen.5574/
Also see you have the SwiftX keyboard - have to say that is my GO TO keyboard as well. They hooked me in with their free beta - bought it soon afterward. ) The blue definitely goes with your theme.
Still restoring apps from Titanium.
Only bug I've noticed - and its in the forums here as well as I noticed and logged it with 2.3.3 when I initially installed - but the timezone keeps going to western argentina (so eastern time while I am on Atlantic time). I have it manually tweaked for the moment - hoping it goes away like it did for 2.3.3 and eventually just *catches* on the right timezone.

CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Yes the new radios will work with this ROM. You will flash the rom in clockwork and radios will be flashed in "BOOTLOADER" not recovery
You will have to rename the radio zip to PG05IMG.zip put it in root of your sd card. Power off the phone. Hold Volume down + power button till it boots to bootloader and press volume up when it asks to update radios.

LTE?
Is it just me or does LTE not seem to work. If I toggle it off and on it seems to try to connect but then falls back to 3G. I was on BLACKSOURC3 before this and it was working just fine. I even restored into BLACKSOURC3 just to make sure and it instantly picks up the LTE where this ROM does not seem to at all.
Anyone else having this issue?

[ROM] [GB/2.11.605.5 Base SENSE 2.1/3.0 HYBRID] SHIFTS3NS3 v2.1.1 (12/14/2011)

UPDATE: 2.1.1 Has fixed the Root Access Super User and WiFi Issues. At this time the only known issue is that Panorama mode doesnt work on the Camera. If you need Panorama mode, please flash the S3NS3 3.0 Camera Add-On below it works perfect Sorry about the 2.1 release guess I'm just not perfect lol...Download Link Updated PLEASE PLEASE provide feedback, Thank Me, Rate the Thread and Donate if possible
As a Side note using 2.1.1 I have had a 29% Battery Drop (in WiFi all day though) in 12 hours which is a FIRST for me!!! Make sure you charge to 100% and do a battery calibration at that time, it does make a difference!
2.1 Update is a pretty significant change in the realm of security and functionaltiy as well. Please visit the Changelog below to see what I have done. It has taken me a while but I think you will agree that the update was worth the wait!! If you are coming from Version 2.0.1 you do NOT need to wipe anything other than SYSTEM (the ROM install will do it for you). I have however made a couple of security changes to remove MORE of HTC and Google's Checkin services and loggers and without doing a full wipe you will still have traces of the PREVIOUS activity there. Hope you enjoy it and let me know if you have any more feedback, PLEASE NOTE: I was NOT able to get Beats working because this is a Sense 2.1 ROM not 3.0 as was requested, I did however manage to get you Dolby Mobile as an EQ option with the HTC Music now
Notable Changes:
See Changelog below please!!!
As Always if you appreciate my work as much as I appreciate bringing it to you please consider donating to the I have a new wife who doesn't like my development hobby and I have a New Son coming in three months fund ;-)...and Thanks to the few of you that already have your help is appreciated!!!
Alright everyone...I know you have all been waiting patiently but as this was my first FULL ROM release I needed to make sure I checked it well!!
Some other Developers out there have released ROMs and said they were built on the new 2.11.605.5 Base, but I installed them and all they did pretty much was update the build.prop file to have the new version numbers. Not here folks, this ROM was built from the ground up using the OTA 2.11.605.5 Base with the latest HTC Kernel (modified for speed/fluidity and to work properly ;-) )...
I have put a lot of work into this one and I hope you find it as useful as I do!!! That being said, I HAVE NEVER ON ANY OF DT'S ROMS GOTTEN BATTERY LIFE LIKE SOME OF YOU EXPERIENCE. So if you get awesome battery life I am jealous but there was no way for me to test this ROM against a battery expectation so I would LOVE to hear your feedback on this!
I used to get the Call Answer bug with the Sense 3.0 lock screen ALL the time, I have not gotten it yet on this build, HOWEVER if you are like me and NEED your phone to work at all times and can't risk it I have included a MOD that will swap you back to the Sense 2.1 answer screen.
This ROM does NOT require a full wipe. The ROM will wipe the System Partition only so I would recommend that you manually wipe the Dalvik Cache and the Cache Partition in Clockword Recovery. I have only used the ROM with the latest Radio from the 605.3 Build but I am confident the other Radios will work too. Also if you don't already have the HTC People widget placed where you want it the 4x5 MOD will make it impossible to place it without an error. I will post in the MOD section below a 4x4 Return to Stock Workspace when I can that you can use to bypass this issue (and then you can flash the 4x5 MOD after if you want it back)
Here is just a partial list of what I did (the important things anyway)
1. Debloated the whole thing (man Verizon puts a lot of useless stuff in these)
2. Added the latest version of the Market (ICS Version)
3. 4-1 Reboot included
4. Radio Info Settings included
5. Wake on Volume is now the default (patch later in this post to stop it)
6. CRT ANIMATIONS!!!! They are back
7. Weather Database was fixed so that all of your cities should be available now not just your state (maybe it was just me but that was really annoying) (thanks to jbeitel over at BAMF)
8. USB Debugging Icon was removed. I'm pretty sure if you are using a rooted ROM USB Debugging is ALWAYS turned on the icon was annoying I pulled it out
9. The default wallpaper for the ROM is now selectable if you change it you can go back (it's Number 5 under HTC Wallpapers)
10. My Theme's wallpaper is also there now (it's Number 15 under HTC Wallpapers)
11. Right Button on Rosie is mapped to the Rosie Settings Application
12. I implemented the TRUE 6 Signal bar MOD so you should actually get 0-6 now not just 0,2,4,6 (Thanks to jmz over at BAMF)
13. 4x5 Workspace by default now. All HTC and other widgets have also been updated so that they support the 4x5 now. Tell me if you don't like it but I can't go back ever now that I have experienced it, I mean they say once you go 4x5 you never go back!
14. A bunch of other stuff that I just made work
Here is the download please if you are going to mirror be responsible and ensure that it is updated when I update Thanks!!!

Thank YOU! for making this ROM...so far its been smooth, calibrated battery this morning but from what I experienced yesterday its a keeper.
I'm having an issue with the time stamp being an hour early on my received sms's, anybody else have this issue? ROM kicks ass otherwise though, smooth as silk!

Great. Just coming off a full charge and shall give it a go.
Thanks!
EDIT** just flashed and I am now getting an OTA notification from VZ!! lol wtf?
Flashing back to my other radio, not sure how to kill this stupid OTA
flashed this yesterday n the battery died fairly quick... I work overnight, so i charged it while I was sleeping and did a battery calibration... needless to say, 12 hours later, heavy usage from texting, Facebook, angrybird, poweramp, the whole 12 hours of working, got off n I'm just hitting 50%... also, this is very speedy!!! love this ROM... (coming from thunderstick)

I take it nobody else is having this issue? I'm using gosms now and it fixed it but now I'm stuck using gosms, I'd really rather just fix the problem if it's something I can do myself. Thanks for all the hard work guys!

So I guess the OTA installed itself on my phone, even though I deferred it. Now my phone is hosed! Anyone know what I can do to recover?

Go into system/etc/security and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.BAK with some sort of root file explorer, you may still get prompted for the update, but if it trues to install it will fail.
Loving the ROM, only bug I've noticed, and its really small, on the messages widget the reply button doesn't work.

thanks for the tip! For some reason in root explorer I cannot mount /system/etc/security in R/W mode; it stays stuck in R/O. any ideas?

[ROM][CM7.2] GingerIceCream (final) [15/07/2012]

Hi everybody.
Before anything I'd like to say a few words (thank you). first of all, I know not many of you know me I have recently joined xda I have really enjoyed my time here its a great kinda thingy I dunno community/website whatever you call it guys. anyways I bought my first android phone like a year a ago but after a month I smashed it against the wall (that felt really awesome) but I bought another android phone (the galaxy ace s5830 again, roughly around one or two month ago since then I became really interested in android have done quiet a lot of research and stuff, so finally I came to the point where I decided to create (well I don't really call it creating till I code everything myself) my ROM. to be honest I spent days and days doing that till I managed to get into the shape that I wanted. So at last I Finished it here I present to you GingerIceCream (I don't know why we android fans like food so much).
So Guys this ROM is based on the CM7.2 nightly (made some other ones based on cm7 stable and the cm7 by vo-1 but the nightly is much better than all of them I tell you why later). and what I have done here is I have removed all the apps I thought wont be used and replaced most of default apps with other ones available (unfortunately I am limited cause I cant just use any app specially paid ones) also gathered all the script I thought would be nice to have in this ROM (just Adrenaline engine actually and added the beats audio files but I replaced the fx widget app with another one its a really light app which I think works better. Also I searched and searched and searched the whole world wide web to find all possible build.prop codes that could help making this ROM better honestly it actually worked which I thought wouldn't make much difference but did. and you get this nice GingerIce9 theme created by jasonevil, not from the galaxy ace forum (Somehow I found it) and other stuff which I will metion later. and yeah one thing that I actually created myself by myself which took me hours to do it (god damn it) is the bootanimation yay.
Features
Since I care about performance more than anything else myself I have done my best for this ROM to meet that target.
Stable as Cyanogenmod 7.2 stable even more actually
loads of crappy apps removed. (no offence to devs)
many default apps replaced e.g gallery3d is replaced with quickpic and android keyboard is replaced with Touchpal (lighter, uses less memo, and its smarter plus you get that swype as well.)
Holo launcher 1.1.1 is the default launcher now.
added the Mi file explorer (miui file explorer) its the default now.
Added jelly bean music player and removed the old one.
all Google apps are up to date now the latest Google play 3.7.13 and Voice and Google search box are updated too.
Superuser is updated too.
Added miui camera.
QQplayer is now the default video player. (unfortunately I failed to add adobe flash player to this rom :crying: so sorry!!!)
added kik messenger and dropbox and dolphin browser (dolphin is replaced wit UCbrowser in the final build) cause I use them a lot thought you may want to use them too.
You have now this app called equalizer to ... well equalize the output audio. This and beats audio put together would be monster beats.
And I have added tones of build.prop codes from all over the WWW to this ROM to ensure the best performance and (battttteeeerrrryyyy life)
GingerIce9 is the default theme, she is a beauty (in my point of view) thanks to the creator : jasonevil
and created a bootanimation just for this ROM.
Also replaced the default fonts with ubuntu fonts and animations with fly-in animations and locks are modified for this ROM all done using UOT kitchen thanks to them.
... etc.

LOOK at the CPU performance, have you ever scored that high (800, well I haven't). I/O will be increased up to nearly 6000 if you disable jit, but it will decrease CPU performance. you may also disable 16bit transparency i enabled it by default it could decrease the 2d performance.
What's new in the final version:
first of all it's final now, (if I get to activate bln I will upload a patch). Completely stable and fast as F-18 (don't believe me try it for yourself). So I rebuilt it based on latest nightly that was released yesterday. Some of the apps been removed/replaced . It no longer contains adrenaline engine or other scripts (and it's strongly recommended that you don't use scripts on this ROM since they may interfere with the default settings. surely you wont need any script or cache cleaner to make it better.)
Also systemUI and framework have been modified. (you can see the results in the pics above). Dolphin is replaced with UCbrowser once you use it you will understand the true meaning of smart browsing. Miui camera Added it's the best replacement for stock camera. Some of the apps were updated. And build.prop is extremely modified for galaxy ace and this ROM, you will be completely blown away by the Smoothness and speed of this ROM, you will clearly see the difference. I guarantee that.
Installation Please follow the installation procedure to ensure everything will be the way it's supposed to
1. Copy the .zip file you have downloaded to your SD card.
2. Reboot into recovery
3.(a) Do a complete wipe (data factory reset, cache partition, >>> Dalivk cache <<< (under advance)
3.(b) go to mounts and storage and format cache, data and system (one after another)
4. now go to install zip from sd, and navigate to directory where the .zip is stored.
5. choose yes intall ....... .zip and wait for a while till it's done.

Looking good, could you make a version with blue status bar icons (like ICS ones), I'm assuming this is deodexed systemUI and framework.res

Yeah I could do but you know that's the whole point about this ROM that its green instead of blue however I'll get you the blue one if you want.
NiiiiiCe ROM Good Job
but there is a bug, I think.
After I flashed the ROM and installed S2E to move the apps, data and cache to sd-ext partition I rebooted the phone I get multiple FCs :/
I can't even use the phone, I tried to do it 3 times, No luck. each time I get the multiple FCs after I insert the PIN code.
Any Solution?
