I am pretty sure that this has been mentioned around here. This feature has been removed from some rooted ROMs including MikG.
Apparently it's only in sense.

Is it enough to just 'freeze' htc iq & logger?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yea, I found this last night. I was the one who originally posted it here. The article on Android Police stated that the best option was immediate removal of the HTClogger apk. I did that, and got repeated force closes over and over, literally to the point of not being able to do anything on my phone. I had to pull the battery and restore to a Nadroid I made earlier, so just removing the apk isn't gonna work. I think it has to be built out of the OS, because the system keeps looking for it. I don't know how freezing is going to work either, but I think it would have the same results. I'm waiting on word from someone who knows better than me, and hopefully the dev who built my ROM can do something to get it out.
Not sure about being able to just wipe or freeze those services, but there are a variety of rom's that have them removed, or just go with an AOSP rom and problem solved.
don't forget to wipe..

I deleted HTCLogger.apk, got the force close messages, but instead of automatically reverting to a NAND, I tried a simple reboot first. It worked fine.

I did the same with the HTCLogger.apk and just renamed it to HTCLogger.apk.bak and did a reboot and it worked fine for me as well. Can we just freeze the CIQ?
Yea, I should have thought to just reboot....what an idiot lol....I've since uninstalled IQRD, HTClogger.apk, and HTC IQAgent, and restarted and all is well. I feel much safer and less spied on now lol.

The new market will give FC's and stop you from DL'ing apps from the market. The new market from T-Mo has a new tab and isnt compat with any custom rom using test keys.

Edit:
As of the... shoot what is it? The second newest CM (The other one seems to have a bad zip file uploaded D: as 3 downloads of the file with identical sizes, none of them are valid/complete) I can still download, update, and run apps from the marketplace. :3 (1:25 AM PST 12/6/09)
this sucks but i dont think it would affect the canadian users.
Had no problem downloading anything on my phone. The only inconvenience really was that it removed the custom Market Icon as well as the Downloads tab and replaced it with a T-Mobile tab. There was another small nuisance where old app that I have backed up and had installed using an app manager are now showing up as having an update available (I have them backed up and install them manually because updates have crippled the app, so I obviously don't want the update).
There is a very simple way to revert back to the old market. Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Market>Uninstall Updates.
Note, your old apps will still show up as having updates available, if you have installed backups from your sd card. Uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling did not work for me.
I have g1 with cyanogen 4.2.8 and run partioned sd card for my apps. I just went to the market after reading this and had 5 updated apps. updated and installed all with no problems.
Will have to admit that I am not clear what the orginial post was about or what he is actually trying to say. My understanding is that tmobile is trying to go after the rooted phones out there?

Nope... I'm on Dwang's v1.13 and got the update. No issues with downloading apps. T-mobile isn't trying to mess with rooted phones...just pushing T-mo specific stuff to our phones to "add value" to our Market experiences. I think Verizon does similar stuff on the Eris and Droid.
I am unable to install after the update, it will download, then force close upon installation attempt. I have to remove the update (setting, manage applications) each time I want to download from the market. Yes, it keeps updating on its own after each uninstall.
Nope, T-Mobile is not going after rooted phones. The new market update allows you to get paid apps and have them billed to your phone bill, rather then using Google Check Out. I think Sprint and Verizon are doing the same thing as well, but T-Mobile was the first to implement.

Since uninstalling the update using the method I posted, the Market update has not been reappied by T-Mobile. I think you might have other problems.

I don't think Mlign's Hero rom will get it since it's a 1.5 firmware... but I may be wrong.
I'm saying that because I haven't had a map update yet with the nav option.
I've had Market 1660 since it leaked about a week ago.
The only new tab that I notice is the one that says T-Mobile where it used to say Downloads.
Those that are gettinc FC's should try to get a logcat and maybe try clearing their cache. If that doesn't work then do a backup using nandroid then try pulling the /system/app/Vending.apk file, resign it and then push it back and see if it works then. That may be the reseason why mine works and none of yours do because I've included the newer version in my CHM Theme. However I don't have the alternate form of payment (onto the T-Mobile bill) as of yet. I just bought something domestic ($.99) and the only option that I had through Google Checkout was credit card. Those that have the new market (1660)... do you have any other payment options?

And I don't think that CM is going to do anything because of the C&D that he recieved after he released the 1.6 Market prematurely onto 1.5 devices.

probably though i dont know why theyre being so quiet about it, i would think if it comes to messing with your money they would at least make sure everyone knows so they dont accidentally do buy something then see it on there bill(it could happen! lol)
and i was hoping maybe cm would suggest like a work around or a solution. well, i dont really need the new market.. dont like the new category(there suggestions suck) and i actually like the google checkout! do you think there are any side effects from uninstalling the new market?

Hi,
I'm at the end of my patience here. I've had all 3 of these roms installed, and they all work great, except that google earth NEVER shows up in the market. I found a google_earth.apk, and Installed it from ES File Manager, and it works except when I try to clear the cache, or change any of the layers. And on the first attempt it crashes but 2nd or more, it will work if no settings are changed. I've already tried to fix permissions in clockwork but to no avail. Any suggestions?
From what I've read by searching Google, I think Google actually removed this from the market for some reason.
EDIT: Either that or they've changed it to 2.2 and above only. Haven't used 2.2 yet so I'm not sure if its there or not.
well then I guess I should be happy with what works??? lol! But if anyone wants the file, here it is. See what you can do with it.

I'm on the 2.2 Beta and its in the market for me. so if you really can't locate it in the market then i would assume you are right in that its only for froyo now. in which case you can probably install an earlier version of google earth and run it without any problems. i'lll see if i can find one in one of my old backups somewhere if you would like.
I would really appreciate that!

I doubt that would work, since you have to connect to google servers to run the program and they force you to use the most current version.
Worst case scenario you will get it when the official 2.2 is out, won't be long.
randomly now it works without any problems. strange.
Probably put it 2.2 only for the size. I still have ir installed on 2.1 and it works fine, I can pull the apk later and pay it If anyone wants it.

Hey guys....I've had the Glacier for two weeks and I couldn't be happier. I got the OTA 2.2.1 and rooted it without any problems. Then, today I got a "android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" only when I go to the phone dialer or contacts. Everything else works perfectly. Earlier today I changed the boot animation and the splash screen...both work flawlessly. I changed the boot animation back to stock and see if that would fix it but no luck. I have rebooted and taken the battery out several times but no go. I checked around and no one else seems to have the same issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance.
Edit...I just fixed the problem...I had downloaded a Tmobile voicemail app that was causing a conflict. I uninstalled it and I'm golden again. I appreciate the help. Thanks.
I've had this come up intermittently since rooting, and haven't been able to nail it down to one specific action or app, etc. It's happened since doing perma-root, and doesn't seem to matter if I'm running stock ROM or CM6.1 Alpha (which I flashed last night - had this pop up once or twice since).
It's annoying, but hasn't caused any real problems so far.
Would be nice to figure out why it's happening, and find a resolution.
What apps, if any, have either of you deleted since rooting?
Does it write any useful exception information in the log file?

I haven't deleted any apps...just hid them under general settings using Launcher Pro...the only other thing I did different today was unlock the SIM using the code Tmobile sent me but I can't imagine that has anything to do with it....Just can't access the Phone at all or the Contacts without a force close...I'm stumped...
Trying to figure out a good way to upload a log file...
I think it might have something to do with permissions..it said among other things...
W/dalvikvm*3381):Refusing to reopen boot DEX'/system/framework/com.htc.android.pimlib.jar
not sure what that means....
Please post questions in Q&A section.
Yep, I'm having the same issue. It does it when I'm using a few applications like Twidroid, even ChompSMS, and another one. I'm thinking it has less to do with what applications I'm using at that time (meaning it would do it no matter what application I had open) but those 2 I use 95% of my time on the phone.
& I as well have not deleted any applications only freezed them with Titanium Backup Pro.
Hey everyone. Have an unrooted Evo. Just installed the most recent OTA. A few days before that my wifi started turning on by itself. After doing some snooping around in my phone I found an app called securephone running. It looks like spyware, I'm not sure how it got there, or what app I downloaded that added it, but keep an eye out, and if anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.
Looks like it logs and uploads your call history. Got a nosey girlfriend?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/securephone/security.Phone
I was thinking that but it has no user interface, instructions or settings. After uninstalling I even went and reinstalled it myself from the market to see, but nothing.
Yeah I don't know then, maybe there is some hidden way to get into its menus, it certainly wouldn't be the first app like that. It does have the most extensive permissions list that I have ever seen so methinks it can't be good. Just get it back off your phone and keep a close watch on whoever has access to your EVO.
I found one listing that says "This application seems to be removed from the Android Market". ?

In-Call volume is unadjustable

Full Screen Mode in Browser covers the Status Bar
Volume Levels low even when Maxed [NOT CONFIRMED YET]
I think that's all of them; PM me if I missed anything
Wiped Data/Cache 4 or 5 times. I do it more than I should just to make sure i get it..and im to lazy to count.
Flashed the Rom, Flashed GAPPS. Put it my gmail info. Checked a few boxes to download facebook, twitters, Maps, and such automagically... and after clicking install on all the market apps, I seem to be stuck on the "Backup and Restore" page...Been here for about 20 minutes. Now I know this works by downloading all of my apps again for me...but I think we should probably be able to get passed this point without waiting for 100 apps to download...
Not sure if I really am stuck or if its just taking its sweet time downloading my apps. I only have 2 bars and its kind of slow at work, but i really don't want to type a WEP key in right now for WiFi.

I restored gapps and it didn't take longer than any normal operation.

I want to add, really quick, that the more you guys tweak your installation of the ROM the harder it is for us to pinpoint problems. Different apps, themes, tweaks, et cetera can break things that are known to work. Since we're trying to get the base system working, please only report bugs if you are mostly clean (apps are fine, obviously) and if it is directly related to the ROM itself.
EDIT: And as I've said in a previous thread, DO NOT restore data from a previous EB13 ROM. This isn't the ROMs you're used to. If you fail to fllow this step, your bug reports will be ignored. I don't mean to sound rude or whatever, but it doesn't help anyone if we're following false leads.

The backup and restore that had me locked down for 35 minutes was not the Recovery Backup and Restore, it was the Android Backup and Restore right after selecting which applications you want to be automatically installed.
I ended up doing a battery pull because I needed to use the phone, after it rebooted I skipped the google account sign in and avoid this all together.
I was able to sign in after launching the market for the first time without any issue though.
Also on a side note, after I am up and running, I am trying to get the HoneyComb music app to work. .
Alright, so let me get this straight...
DO NOT restore apps w/ saved data, or do not restore system apps?
Also, things like this and the extra instructions you need to flash this ROM, gives more reason, and I've said it before, to show a video/tutorial from a person starting from stock EB13, to rooting, to flashing. I've seen lots of tutorials for the evo, and I'm sure it'll clear up a lot of mistakes.
In addition, if more people follow the video correctly, less bugs about improper flashing/restoring will be mentioned, and more bugs about the actual software will be more focused on, and help the devs see exactly what's wrong with the system, and not what the person did to flash the ROM.
I hope someone takes my advice, and that a video will be demonstrated on how to do this.
I would make a video myself, but not confident enough to flash cm7 quite yet.

Oh no no, it's basically like flashing any rom. If you're on a rooted EB13 all you have to do is wipe data 3x wipe cache and dalvik cache and install the zip file. It works as any rom all you have to do is wipe and put another rom on if you grow bored of this one. And use my backup pro to backup data from your app and restore it that way so that it's not something which is damaging to your phone as a whole.

According to Dameon it works on both RFS and EXT4 so whichever clockwork you have should be fine. People were trying to restore EB13 NAND backups onto CM7 I believe as well as applications which rely on frameworks which are not present. But I would say make a NAND Back up and have a stock EB13 update.zip or have the tar for Odin, just the usual procedure if you think you revert and really just use that if you feel like reverting or going back to a rom as a failsafe. Whatever you're comfortable with using.
