Hello,
Since we all use our device in a different way, it seems like a good idea to collect battery experiences. Important things to mention are:
1. which applications you have running on the background (touchflo3d or pocketplus or whatever else)
2. Bluetooth on or off
3. data connection used (none, gprs, hsdpa)
4. total time of phone calls during the day (you can do that by setting the call timers to 0 on the missed calls screen)
5. pushmail on or off
6. wifi on or off (also for how many minutes)
7. any additional tasks you performed, like watching a youtube video.
Most important is, you should not charge your device in between, unless the battery dies during the day , your battery must be fully charged before starting the day and last, you have to mention the amount of battery left (preferably in %).
Ok, here goes mine.
1. only touchflo3D running
2. bluetooth on all the time and paired 3 hours long to earpiece
3. HSDPA
4. 7 calls, 8 minutes total
5. pushmail on from 8:00 until 18:00
6. wifi off
7. I watched a youtube video for 3 minutes. I also watched googlemaps while driving for 2 minutes and gps enabled (now that is real life navigating, specially with hspda dataconnection ). I also checked my agenda a few times and opened about 4 mails
I charged my device yesterday at 23:00, left it on all night and used the device today as described above. At 18:00 my battery level was down to 56%.
I hope these experience(s) helps people in deciding wether the battery of the device is good enough for their day to day use...
David
me second charge finished at 01:00 all radios off.
From 9:00 gsm bt on. Lots of calls and notes gps for 5mins mp3 for 5 mins. at 21:00 bt off. at 00:00 gsm off. now it has 50% batt.
Does the device feels hot?

no, not hot, but when you use GPS for a few hours it gets warm...not hot...
How is it compared to the Touch Diamond? Equal or longer?

I suppose you mean in terms of battery usage. I have no idea since I do not own a diamond, but the battery is bigger than on the diamond so it should last langer than the diamonds battery.
So I assume the Blackstone is bigger than the Diamond?

Bit of an obvious statement! Check the dimensions on the HTC web site!
In comparison with my touch pro, battery life appears to be better. battery managment has also improved - ie no sudden jumps in battery level and correct charging.
Normally I leave home with a full charge and come back 10 hrs later with about 15% battery remaining. I won’t break down my type of usage but it’s a general mix of voice and data. The phone is in my hand, in use, about 1hr and 30min per day with the screen on about 45min.
Today I ended my day using the phone about 1 extra hour (incl. 30 min Bluetooth phone call) and had 48% battery remaining. On a normal day I would have never even had gotten to the 30min phone call before it was dead.
So, if you do the math, the battery life today was roughly double of what it has been for the past 2 weeks.
I made one small change ... I turned off the GPS. Yes, I know, the GPS is only supposed to be running if a program that requires it is also running. I think that is false. In settings, locations the only feature I’ve ever had turned on was the GPS. I started thinking yesterday how amazingly, unbelievably really, quick that Google Maps set my exact location. I have 2 HTC phones with built in GPS and have had 2 Garmin GPS units, using an external GPS antenna, of which not one of those would acquire a satellite lock in less than 30 seconds, usually 45 to 60.
Now, flame me if you like but I’m convinced, after today, that the GPS is always acquiring satellites even when the icon isn’t present.
I downloaded GPS Test from the market, closed ALL programs with ATK, ran GPS Test and as soon as the screen appeared, 2 seconds, 4 satellites were already locked. It can’t be that good.
Try it ... won’t cost you anything.
BTW, it would be nice to get some feedback from someone that gives it a try. I’d like to know if this truly worked or it was just a fantastic coincidence.
Thanks
Nope, I agree completely. I've kept GPS off unless I absolutely need it and my battery life is great.

Glas to hear someone echo the thought. I may actually start to enjoy this X10 afterall
With GPS off, WIFI off and BT on about 2h/day i get 2 days juice
Problem is, i'm in wifi range 24h/day and i don't have a data plan so, wifi is on most of the time => about 12h juice.
GPS and WIFI are draining battery pretty fast.
Made a huge improvement for me too well done for spotting this

do you mean specifically turning gps off under settings, location? or all location services including location by network?
I am using the R2BA020 firmware.
I make approx 2hr voice call per day.
I left the wifi ON, but remove the wifi detection notification
I left the GPS ON, it should be only be activated via GPS apps.
I turn OFF the BT when I am not in the car.
So far, after weeks, on the average, I still get 2 days of juice at least.
oops! miss out the text...
I do only about 20-30 text per day.
And do quite a fair bit of FB and Twit daily...

I'm using 023 and wouldn't get half of that time without turning off the GPS.
I'm not sure if my GPS isn't sleeping the way it should or not but unless I turn it off it always seems to be active.
It's not a big problem for me since GPS isn't a feature that I need too often and it's pretty easy to activate from the widget if I do want to use it.
Strange as it may be this is the change that made the single biggest difference for my battery life.
Last night I installed (reinstalled) SetCPU and set up some profiles I read about that look like they make sense. One of the profiles that caps the processor at 338mhz when the screen is off but runs it full tilt when the screen is on seems to be pretty logical. My previous complaint about SetCPU was when I had it set to near 600mhz the screen performance seemed really slow. Now it only caps the processor when the screen is off so if checking email in the background takes an extra microsecond but helps battery life I'll be happy

I can't really comment on WiFi usage since I only use it once in a while to run SwiFTP but GPS radios are a big battery drain, have been on every GPS device I've ever owned.
Today with the GPS off and SetCPU setup better (from last night) I plan on giving the X10 some heavy use today and see how it does.

If the life of only one person is improved then my job is done
Glad it helped you.
just for your information. if you use the widget for wifi, silent, gps,BT which was included by SE you will notice that this widget has bugs. for example it shows that gps is off while it is on in the settings. same with wifi.
dont use this widget. take a widget for example from curvefish. these work properly.
I'll check out that widget problem, thanks.

Hi, I've got an unrooted R2BA020.. I've done a test this morning. I use wifi all the time at home and today have used the stock widget and quick profiles to enable wifi, bluetooth, GPS, and 3g. They've all been on for 6 hours, have actively used wifi for about an hour or so.
I'm now down to 90%, from 100%.. 10% in 6 hours.. More than happy with that.

Saturday when I have time I'll do the test with everything on and see how long it takes to drop 10%

I'll try it this weekend.
Well, I finished a 10 hour day with moderate usage, maybe 1.5hrs of screen time, 45 min phone calls, 3G data, no WiFi and the GPS turned off all day with 48% remaining.
That, for me, is a big improvement.
Since it's still not as much as I would like (I find myself holding back from using the device more) I've ordered a 2600 mAh Cameron Sino battery from eBay. I know, the battery is made in HK but what the hell ... the phone is made in China
I've read mixed reviews on the CS battery but most lean towards good.
i'm planning to go for a trip for about 7-8 hours. does anyone had a problem about using GPS for a long time usage like 7-8 hours? or is it safe to use? i m wondering about GPS unit and screen backlight.any advice or comment would be really helpful..
make sure the screen brightness is set to auto, and if it's warm or sunny, try and point an a/c vent at it. You might also try not having it plugged in the whole time (charging causes it to heat up quite a bit). Maybe run it for 3 hours unplugged, then charge it for awhile, etc.
I have used the GPS for 5 hours straight, running Garmin Mobile XT to direct my partner and the wifi router running for my laptop it didn't overheat. I used a generic USB charger and it only charged 5% over the whole 5 hour journy.
Unlike Touch HD, Snapdragon in HD2 won't overheat.
I am using Garmin mobile XT regularly for almost an year now, and have no problem at all.
In the space of a few days I have traveled 7 hours, 5 hours and 9+ hours with the screen on full brightness and plugged into my car charger whilst using it to download satellite maps and following my position with the GPS through Google Maps.
Worked like a dream...

bullcrap!!!!
With certain radios, I can make my hd2 lockup from overheating in about 30min.
I used navigation for about 5 hours without Problems.
Full brightness, with Car-Kit charged and official Rom.
hd2 will automatically stop charging when the battery is full so you can leave it plugged. to the guy saying he phone overheats, it's broken and you need to get it fixed

no it's not broken, it just does not like the 2.14 radio. I have not had that problem on other radios.
Hi,
My experience. Iam running OziexplorerCE on HD2. On a sailboat. Single handed. 5 days no stop from Monastir (tunisia thru Bar Montenegro) and before that Marseille tru Monastir. No pb.
Just have to be in airplane mode because with GSM not being connected the GPS stop working...
For me pass the test
How long does your GPS take to lock on. Mine takes around 15 - 20 seconds. MAke sure to turn wifi location off so you can accurately measure the time.
Thanks.

My phone didn't get an accurate reading over 3G/GPS for the first few days of use. When it did work, my exact location would be off by about 1.5 miles. Magically, out of no where, it just started working and now finds my exact location in less than five seconds.
my GPS is awsome, takes only a few seconds to get a lock, even indoors
15 seconds is nothing.
My GPS took about 1 minute to lock on the other day which was disappointing considering the X10 would lock on pretty much instantly.
Although it might have been because it was overcast. I just tried it indoors and it locked on much quicker than the other day.
Mine won't lock on at all if I have wi-fi and mobile data off
Hi,
I started to have an accuracy problem with my GPS. I have quite a quick GPS fix with more than 20 satellites in view and more the ten in use with good signal quality but every two-three minutes the accuracy drops from 3-10 meters to 50-100 meters and after several minutes it returns to high accuracy. I never lose GPS fix, only the accuracy changes.
I was running original G900F 5.1 ROM, tried custom ROMs, reset AGPS settings, updates to NTP server with TopNTP.
Thanks for help.
