hi my sister bought an impulse 4g and i cannot find its real model name anywhere. she wants me to root it like my nook and evo 4g. any help will be appreciated! thank you!
I too would like to know if this Huawei ideos is similiar to the impulse 4g by AT&T. Even though Samsung has its name attactched to it, it is manufactured by Huawei thus leading me to believe that everything for the Ideos X5 U8800 might be compatible with the impulse.
My friend has this phone and I'm trying to root, unlock and mod for him. I might just try and let you know if know one else responds
Spec wise it's the same as the Huawei ideos X5 and it's just re branded to at&t!
The thing that i didn't understand is why it's video capturing is much better than my crappy X5,i can get only 15-16 fps when recording at 720p and in this video: http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/AT-T-Impulse-4G-Review_id2829/page/3
the video runs definitely smoother and it says 28 fps!
Mstbe the impulse 4g has different rom(?)

Probably, tell me, behind the battery it doesn't says u8800-51? because we think thats the right model number for your version of the x5
Impulse 4G is not the same with X5, even tho specs wise it looks the same, it's NOT.
DO NOT FLASH ANY U8800/X5 ROMS/RECOVERY ON TO IT!
Thank you for clearing that up for me. I was looking at the differences yesterday between the two boot.img and they are different. specs are the same but the way the boot.img is built are completely different.
I know the Impulse is not a popular phone and therfore I do not expect to see a forum for it. I might have to try superoneclick and see if it will root it at least
Still haven't got any answer why the impulse has much better video recording than the X5!!!!!
Is it the same or is it just me that thnk's so?
My X5 can't in no way capture video like in the above video ?
I think it's you...That video is not that great and if you read the comments, the author is not impressed either.
My U8800 use to record videos with the same quality, if not a bit better, but only outside...not indoors (clearly a lighting problem...). Anyway, it could be a different camera sensor on the AT&T phone, who knows...
Oh and if you're really interested in getting the best video recording performance, use a Froyo stock Rom. Unfortunately, most custom Roms camera app/settings/libs are not perfected yet.

I've had 3.29 since it was available (w/ root) and had not tested the video recorder. Well, last ota didn't record videos so well, I'm actually quite impressed. Pictures seem clear, no jumpy/cutting on videos I recorded, audio could still use work but is better. Still not the best but highly impressive for a phone. ")

i would like to see video tests between release 2.1 rom, sprint froyo 2.2, and this last ota update rom.
would be kinda hard unless you got a laptop in the outside testing field (outside of course is best for recording). Flashing roms, setting up, etc in a small amount of time before the sun goes down or gets cloudy messing up the testing process.
cant wait to see some results, i havent even bothered to test the camcorder yet since noones mentioned it

Hmmm...I still think it's a bad romance between the camera sensor and HTC's drivers.
its.. meehhh... i think a faster sd card and some real hardcore tweaking can get that camcorder almost up to par with samsung and iphone.
its still kinda... janky.

Alright fellas! pls don't shoot me if im repeating a common question, im currently using an HTC Desire & my friends are telling me that their galaxy S i9000 is better. I've done my research & I kinda like it but there is alot of negative vibe cus of the gps & video calling features.
I have 4 questions:
a. Is video calling practical both on wifi/3g? And what apps can we use to make video calls((Skype, Fring, Tango, gtalk{ve used gtalk video calling on my N900}))?
b. Is the internal memory(RAM) is sufficient for apps?
c. And does it gives problem for gps locking using maps.?
D>> Would you buy Galaxy S over HTC Desire, keep in mind desire has a solid Sense UI?
Im ready to make a move but im much concerned before i make a move, Im quite happy with my desire. You help is much appreciated. thanks.
I compared my SGS with my friend's Desire the other day, when he was doing something with his HTC and he said "hey download this and that..." and I was embarrased that my SGS was so laggy (seconds to open maps, to respond to touch, pinch...) and also the GPS worked like a charm, when with my SGS I want to throw the phone to someone because it doesn't get a lock D
But don't worry, I disabled some applications and widgets from Beautiful Widgets and it's as fast as a lightning. I think it's the file system so you need a lag fix, you can download from here DDDD
I'm running stock Froyo JPO. People here are running JPZ and custom ROMs and they perform way better and have better GPS.
The screen is way better than Desire, and the processor/GPU too.

Thanks for the input my friend but you didnt asnwer my questions.
I dont thinnk it worths givng all this money just for a little better screen...There is very few things that Desire cant do but SGS can and those things dot worth 400 euroes..
fring works for me on 3g and wifi both very good
b.no u can never have enough ram but i barrely see force closes it is enough to doesn't getting annoying
c.gps works, ,ok'' for me but it sure has some problems for some
d yes any day the display blows ur mind two of my coworker have the desire one oled the other slcd in my oppinion the difference is huge
beside of that my sgs is alot faster but there phones aren't modded so u can't compare that.... beside of that the desire has a better build quality imo
but if u have a desire don't get the sgs it isn't worth it

alright! so 3 votes agaisnt SGS...
just need 2 more votes and im done. ill stick to desire
Unless you need 720p recording, or are rich, you are using a device which is the same generation device as the SGS anyway.. Why do you think it makes sense to upgrade?
I think you are wrong about the telus or i9000t it is na 3g and has a front facing camera.. look at the ones at newegg.com and xpansys-usa.com

Questions so far:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About a review is may take a while since i work from 9 to 21 most of the days and its very hard for me to have the tablet all day, atm im just uncharging it to make a full one and will try to use it during this week properly with all functions being used.
Curious about build quality and performance. Does it feel like a high end tablet?
Build Quality is very good, not a single gap or bad cover. The grip on the top of the tablet feels very good and you cant even notice the weight.
Can you tell if its froyo or gingerbread? Build.props on the source Rom indicate froyo.
It is Froyo, but as said by Rohan its a modified version of it.
If you have the regular LCD model, please post your comments or pictures of the quality of the screen, and viewing angle.
I have a pixel Qi version the viewing angles are good, i will post a video soon with a comparison between the adam and my monitor.
I hope your not in the EAP.

please, write a full review!!!!
I would LOVE it if you had a slingplayer to try...
please post a video of basic functions in eden. also the normal android desktop, is there a way to not use eden and just use stock android. also if you have the LCD show the viewing angles or at least tell us how they are. thanks
Can you please record it using launcher pro? Eden is fine, but I'm not going to use it.

Multitouch is perfectly fine. BUT YES, root this device and get honeycomb on it. that's my end goal. I never rooted any of my phones because they both were Nexus and i love the google experience.

how much is the adam, i cant seem to find out
The entry level Adam will start at $375.33 and will pack a regular LCD and WiFi connectivity. Adding 3G shoots the price up to $425.33. On the higher end there's the Pixel Qi model, which will start at $499.95 with WiFi and $549.99 with 3G
EDIT: Video up but still processing.
I'm hearing some horrible things about the stock software. FCs, bad touchscreen responsiveness, browser bring wonky in leaf mode... Is it just in need of a few patches or do you see any deeper problems?

I felt that and some reflections only with the screen protection they come with, after removing it it just disapeared.
Hey, thanx for the vids, I have been reading lots of bad info on other websites, but I think I should wait for someone from XDA, please give a full review and breakdown, I would also like you to review after the update is (fixed) and applied and note the differences. It would be a big help to those who havent ordered yet.
Hi,
I am thinking in buying this amazing phone, but I want some opinions regarding the support. (had some bad experience with lg p990)
How the support for this phone?
Will it get JB? Oficial
How is the battery?
Camera quality?
Smoothness? Lags?
Gaming?
Thanks.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
support is great especially from this forum . not really no need for samsung direct support , unless you need to send handset back
yes it will get jb , a public release is being tested right now so exspect it to be official very soon
the battery is great in my opinion , me personally get easy 30 hours on moderate / heavy use screen time 4-6hrs
camera quality is great
smmothness and lag is dependant of ROM and what you have running in backgrounds etc etc
gaming is great
a big yes for all the thing you have asked, go on with your purchase

Excelent, better than the S2 in my opinion.
Smoothness? Lags?
Almost no lags at all. Just wait and see the Project Butter. It will garantee 60+fps all the time.
Gaming?
Excelent as always.

i was forced to do this when my optimus 2x p990 drowned. best move i made. no lag, no random reboots and acceptable battery and working gps with a quick fix, unlike the o2x. you can get a micro usb to hdmi out for video so beats the o2x in all respects. the only good tegra games seemed to be possibly the tegra 3 ones. camera is great.
You can't go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S III. Had the LG Optimus 2X before this one as well, the difference is day and night in all aspects. I'm convinced you will not be disappointed just one bit. I mean it even has a notification led and physical home key.
Screen, speed, camera, storage and sound, all is excellent. Even stock rom is a real pleasure. Before this I had the HTC Desire and after that the LG Optimus 2X. I always changed the rom to get rid of HTC Sense and the LG crap. The Samsung Touchwiz, I do even like better than pure Android, who would have thought. But still you can easily flash custom roms and do whatever you want with it.
The support by the community is wonderful and Samsung is good on the updates (sgs 2 probably receives jelly bean, what does that tell you?), heck we may even get an update to Kane Candy (version after jelly bean).
This, is a no-Brainerd .
Closed, this is XDA developers, not XDA help me choose a phone.
Hey there,
I just received my Huawei Honor 6X last week, and i am writing this to post my opinion on this device so you guys can get a good idea about the phone, as there is only scarce information about the hands on experience and functioning of the device.
I bough the Grey coloured 3GB32Gb variant, from UAE's online shipping jadopado. At 899AED~240USD~15000Rs
https://india.jadopado.com/product/JM00329911/huawei-honor-6x-dual-sim-64gb-4g-lte-smartphone
And this seller is by far the best seller i have ever come across. So helpful that he was 24/7 available through whatsapp, double checked my phone for me, even cleared my doubts on EMUI, and created videos to guide me through EMUI:highfive:
As you can see only the 4GB/64Gb variant is shown as available, contact the seller and they will guide you to buy the 3gb variant.
I really like the phone, its sleek aluminium-clad and really slippery. The UI has a learning curve, after that its alright.
Model Number: BLN-AL10.
Disclaimer: i have only used the phone for 2 days.. These are just my opinions..
Camera:
Talking about the camera, its good #decent, not superbtastic!! Main camera is 12mp+2mp, while the front camera is 8mp
It takes good to great pictures.. I have attached some pictures..
Pretty decent in medium low light.
Autofocus in video shooting isn't spot on.
The bokeh effect(dual camera) is good, but i dont think we'll use it often.
Performance
Performance is good, will be better in EMUI 5 i hope so..
Battery
The battery has been great so far, mainly due to huawei's excellent software which handles battery management. And there is ultra power saving mode.. I'm getting around 6 hours sot as of now, will have to use for a week or two to get the correct idea.
Call Quality
Call quality has been good so far.. Using BSNL and Jio..
And in Reliance Jio (india) i am facing network signal being lost and other issues, i think its mainly due to Jio's fault, as most of my other friends also has it..
LTE CAT 6 option for faster connectivity
It has VoLTE optionin settings, but still have problems in calling from stock dialer (JIO- India), it'll get fixed through an update i hope so.. I have emailed Huawei about this issue.
Fingerprint
Finger scanner is spot on.
Speaker
Speaker is loud, but its only a single down firing one. And while watching videos we can easily block the speakers accidentally when cupping the phone.
Display
Display is great, quality is good But the viewing angles are not that good, but its not at all noticeable..
Benchmarks: (3GB/32GB version)

Honor 6x User Here Too
Me as well, is satisfied with it. Requested it from a friend who bought it from China. I got the 4GB / 64GB variant on gold color.
For it's price, what more could you ask for? I love it's performance, camera, GPS.
the only downfall i can say is it's speaker. it's only coming out from the bottom right side. but no problem with headphones.
you say you're having problem with signal after restarting it. Though i don't have that kind of problem. I did not make any benchmark yet, maybe in the future.
this might be my phone for the next 2years. It will not be outdated.
heard there would be updates to Nougat on this model. hopeful! ^_^
