I want to root my Transformer, but I don't like to stray too far from standard (as things get broken very easilly), and they have silly boot animations and other crud. Anyone made a stock 3.1 that is ****JUST**** rooted? Nothing else hacked about?
Yeah there's one, look in the "Keep root with 3.1?" thread

No root method for 3.1 as of now so you'll need to downgrade to 3.0.1 (.9).
Root than flash the 3.1 rooted rom

Downgrade to 3.0.1 and root. Then use custom update above to upgrade to 3.1.

Yes. Although I don't see why you would want to go back to 100% stock.
Never said I was going back...its always good to have an option if ever needed though.

What are the differences between US, WW and TW ROMS?

+1 for a WW version
Okay, from the beginning I would like to apologize for this being a dumb question.
I have attached a file below of my Transformer installing firmware from Asus. I used to have Transformer rooted. Then I unrooted it, but I don't know if i fully unrooted it (is that possible?). So anyways I do not know if that loading screen is stock, or if it is from when I was on Prime 1.7. The reason I need to know this is because I am sending my TF to Asus.
Thanks in advance.
I had that screen when I updated to 3.2.1 and I never rooted.

Does anyone know the best and easy way to only root tf300
I read something about debugfs but haven't tried it.
If u guys have a link for the root I'll appreciate it.

Yes. You need to have a PC. It is to be done in recovery mode IIRC.
Good luck with the rooting.

Sadly a PC is required with this method, but after reading all the root threads on here, I decided it was the easiest method and worked a treat for many
Just don't make the same error I did... don't connect the tablet to the dock and then USB on the dock to the PC, use the use charging cable supplied with the charger and connect the tablet to the PC via it, otherwise Windows wont see it...
Make sure you have the drivers installed too!
OK but how exactly u do this...I already downloaded the zip file on PC and pluged tablet...it installed drivers but last one ...says waiting for input and I got some options saying 1.locate and install driver
2.ask me again later 3. Don't show this message again
I click #1
Now what?

Best to read the full thread I linked to, but make sure you have USB debugging enabled on the tf300 under developer options in settings...
From what I remember, I just unzipped the downloaded file to a folder, opened the folder and ran the .bat and it did the rest.
To get the correct drivers installed, I just installed Asus sync from the Asus support site, but make sure it is not running when you run the .bat.
I had the same issue, I think I installed the Android Development Kit and rebooted a couple times and it just decided to work after that. Soo, hope that helps?

Just did it, with the newest version from his skydrive account.
The only thing, I had to change USB mode from drive to camera-something in order for the ADB to detect the device..
My only reason to do it, was to get:

and I must say it's like a totally new device... Finally I can use the browser on "heavy" sites without ANR's..

Long story short, it makes the stock browser a lot faster, by using ram as cache instead of the disk.

Easy just go to download the zip file and inside that, there is going to be another zip file. Transfer the internal zip file to the internal memory and then reboot. It will boot up with a notification next to the clock. You start the update from there and then just let it install.
I did it on mine and its soooo much faster and smoother. Love it!!

Well as long as you have a custom recovery to flash it. But I get you need to unlock to get one
If that's the case I guess you can fastboot it from your PC.

My apologies. I'm not new to rooting or the Unix command line but am new to the fastboot stuff. I can communicate with the tablets boot loader via fastboot thanks to the jb update, but my boot loader is locked, and I don't want to unlock it just yet. Would I still be able to follow step 3 or is even that step reserved for unlocked boot loaders?
Well, answered my own question...
C:\tabletroot>fastboot devices
015d15b4da101017 fastboot
C:\tabletroot>fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery tf300t-jb.blob
sending 'recovery' (6524 KB)...
OKAY [ 2.106s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: (InvalidState))
finished. total time: 5.054s
C:\tabletroot>
Man does this suck ass. I really don't want to void the warranty. Oh well, hopefully another method will come along soon.

Once unlocked you won't get OTAs, even more so since you are running a custom ROM. If you want to have stock firmwares you will have to flash them manually.
I wonder when we'll see 4.2 for the TF300.... Looking forward to it.
