Good AT&T phones? - Networking

I have a Samsung infuse and was wondering what's better? Besides sgs2
INFUSE 1.6 OC

SGS2 period
there's nothing that can beat it at the moment

Yes I know.. so I'm asking what's below it?? Is there anything better than the infuse BESIDES sgs2 as I've already stated

Another good phone would have to be the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
I have this phone and its a great device for games. It has its cons but as a gaming machine its awesome. Xperia Play optimsed games, android games, emulator games from PS1 and below.

The Infuse is the best AT&T has at the moment. I feel it's even better than the SGS2. The iPhone 4 is the next one down from the SGS2 and then Inspire 4G.

im waiting for my sgs 2
sent from my cappy. xda app

Next best thing on ATT is the Inspire 4G. The Atrix is crap...don't get it. The Infuse is meh...

When the htc holiday comes out it will be big
sent from my evo 4g

SGS2 comes out tomorrow (Sunday at ATT with 2.3.5 OS), within a 4-6 weeks several new phones will be out, iPhone5, the next Google phone, (optimus prime, nexus prime, galaxy nexus, whatev with new ice cream sandwidge O.S.), and several others, HTC Titan (new Windows O.S.). They all have similar specs, very nice screen sizes / resolution, cameras, dual core processors, memory, etc, etc.

How has no one mentioned the Thrill? It's better than the Infuse. Also the only ATT phone with 3D, gimmick or not.
Sent from my LG G2x

I personally like the infuse. Like the screen and everything it has to offer.. I wish it had dual core but it don't and its still good enough for everyday use.. OC to 1.6 is plenty enough.

LG is the third largest mobile phone division on Earth... The basic phones they make are some of the most resilient phones ever made. They have cheap, low quality options that you might say are of low quality, but you get what you pay for. Their smart phones are solid. I have only played with the Thrill a little bit in my store, but if the hardware is anything like my G2x that phone is a monster.
At the very least, it's still a top-tier ATT offering, and deserves mention in regard to this thread.

I agree with the other poster, LG phones...LG products altogether...are very poor. They aren't as reliable as alternatives. And this is determined from multiple LG products used. And also what I see online.

I don't disagree at all. They have pretty serious quality control issues regarding software, but I've never had issues with hardware. But someone who is doing serious shopping of high end ATT devices would not be doing their due diligence if they completely ruled out this phone due to someone else's past experience with OTHER LG devices. They should read reviews on THIS phone and at least hold a live device in their hand to get a feel before completely ruling it out based on the opinion of people who haven't even used this particular phone. That's all I'm saying.

good comparo (review above), looks like if you don't live in:
Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta and San Antonio
Then you won't see LTE for more than a year (likely 1.5 years for 10 more cities, and longer for others);
Looks like the screen resolution is a little bit better on the holiday,
4.5-inch qHD 540 x 960
but not sure how much difference that would make over the sgs2 with gorilla glass and 4.3-inch 480 x 800 pixels Super AMOLED Plus
They are both a huge upgrade over my old HTC tilt2

Just curious are there any dual core phones that the infuse can beat?? Overclocked or not its still a single core.. just curious

Wow looks freaking awesome!
http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/article.php?a=7258
One of the reps at my local T-Mobile store told me he was almost totally sure that T-Mobile would get the Optimus 2X.
Interesting, the new Motorola and the S2 are both looking way awesome as well.......... The next gen is going to be hard to choose with the new Dell and the new Vizio.....hmmm 2011 going to be a good year for the tech minded......

At 20-30 secs in, they mention it has an IPS LCD display. LG makes the Retina display for Apple and a quick google of IPS LCD pretty much only mentions the Retina.
I know the LG Black has that new screen but if the O2X has a retina, I'd bite.
Yeah, I like the LG too.
How much Ram does it have, does anyone know? Can't seem to get a definitive answer anywhere.
I'm still leaning a little more towards the Atrix though.
Atrix>X2: Higher resolution, much bigger battery, gorilla glass, FM radio, 16 gig internal vs 8, plus all the docks.
X2>Atrix: Higher res camera - pics and videos
Nice to see the Atrix is coming with all sorts of codecs included too. If they would take away motoblur and slap a xenon camera on it, it would have (on paper) been the ultimate device. Still kinda is... The only kind of let down I see is that the screen doesn't appear to be as good as the LG, the colours from what I can tell don't seem to be as vibrant. Hope I'm wrong...
Atrix has Motoblur. I'm not a fan of custom skins due to software updates taking forever, but Blur=Bad.
This will be my next phone too.. I was thinking of getting the Nexus S, but the lack of expansion slot turned me off...
Atrix is Motorola and Verizon, guys--the 4G is LTE, not HSPA+. Not T-Mobile.
Knowing Motorola, it's got blur puked all over it and has a locked bootloader. No thanks.
With the specs on that phone, and tha dockability of it, i'd take it with blur 1.0 much less the current one. The current blur isn't that bad. It's a keeper as far as i'm concerned...

If this was a stock device (like I read the device was initially going to be), I would have waited outside on launch. Regardless, I am planning on waiting till after MWC to pick my newest poison.
I want to see if HTC has anything up their sleeve for T-Mo. I hate Sense but they update their phones. ::looks at Evo::
holy ****, a phone that runs nvidia graphics?
i read on the mobile buzz widget that tmo will probably get the lg black while att will probably get the 2x, i hope the rumor isnt true but we all know that tmo almost always gets the short end of the stick.
You guys do know that this phone beastly or not eden beats our galaxy s device when it comes to graphics. On nenamark1, galaxy s scored less than 5 fps lower than the optimus 2x on 2.1. I'm pretty sure my phoney is future enough. Not worth to upgrade for any phone. Also ip as is never as good as the super amoled for games movies and anything like that.
Id like to get my hands on the Sony Zues 1.... or PSP phone as its dubbed

I really want this device especially running stock my main issues are these.
1. Upgrading to 2.3 and so on. Especially now thay T-Mobile might change to att they might not care about tmobile branded devices. (This does not apply to rooters)
2.battery power. I hate charging every phone I had after 8 hr. This is my main issue i heard that it was suppose use only both cores when needed so battery should be better but yet nobody has confirm it.

Being LG I'd be very hesitant. Like how the OS is left mainly untouched though.
Aesthetically isn't the prettiest, but damn did that look responsive and quick.
Can't wait for a dual core Nexus from HTC! (Guy can dream can't he)
I may get it with my upgrade in July, but I'd like to see how hackable it is first.
Personally I wouldn't buy another T-Mobile phone. The merger with ATT is likely to be approved and the news on the street is that ATT is going to get rid of the T-Mobile 1700 3G frequency which means that this phone would be made obsolete relatively soon.

I never bought an LG before because they looked cheap BUT with the Optimus 2X and 3D it's obvious that LG put all their know-how,efforts and will to compete with their Korean enemy aka samsung!
ALL the reviews are very positive and the few people who had the chance to buy it were impressed by the quality, speed and camera!

If I got a phone from another manufacturer I wouldn't see it being anybody but HTC, though I always keep my eyes open for what's best. (No blind loyalty here!)
That said, everything I've seen about the SGS II makes it fairly clear it's set the bar on a whole new level... so barring some amazing discoveries I'll be going the SGS II route.
'course I just got my Vibrant yesterday but I've got a fairly voracious appetite as far as my toys go.
im actually suprised to see so many vibrant owners comtemplating samsung again. Yes, I am too. But I am definitely Very Cautions with our GPS problems, crappy software, and of course the Froyo debacle....
I am considering anything as it comes. At this point, seems the Sensation and GS2 seem to be the 2 worth waiting for. just really cautions with the GS2 given the Vibrant problems

I agree with htc is near garbage. Every phone is damn near the same. Ive just purchased an sgs2 from uk. Ive had the hd2, hd7, DHD, Inspire and played with evo and a couple verizon version. Build quality is great except the lcd plasitc they use. I guess im spoiled by the gorilla glass after breaking and repairing a couple hd2s.
I guess I became a music addict over the last year and htc music quality is horrible. HD7 audio was the worst. HD2 was probably the best htc phone when it comes to audio.
I buy and sell alot of phones via Craigslist and eBay. I've had my Vibrant since October and this is honestly the longest I have kept a phone in the past 3-4 years. I absolutely love the phone.
I had the using (2) MY4Gs, and HD2, HD7, myTouch slide, (2) G2's, Cliq2's, (2) Blackberry Torches, Bold 9700 and 9780 etc etc etc. the list goes on. So far, the Vibrant has by far been been my favorite phone and I have had a great experience.
HTC, IMO is shaky in terms of build quality. No doubt, I felt the HD2/HD7 felt more substantial in the hand than the Vibrant. But you can't defend the fact that the HD2 is plagued with failure rates. At least once a week, I see broken ones pop up on CL. I also loved the 4.3" screens.
I felt the MY4G was sub-par compared to my vibrant, even though I felt it was still an excellent phone.
I will most likely get the GalaxyS2 a couple months after it comes out
right now the sgs2 is the only phone i'd switch from my vibrant for. i'm not really brand loyal, but i think samsung is quickly learning that their sgs users expect os updates and you can't beat their hardware. plus samsung seems to be pretty dev friendly considering odin, how easy the sgs was to root, and how quickly they have been releasing their source.

I seem to have made a wise choice

It looks like it is a cheap version of the other HTC phones with a gimmick screen. I was seriously tempted by it, but I am hearing other news that it is a decent phone that feels cheap compared to the predecessor...Dont get me wrong, i hate the plastic on the Nexus S, but, for a "flagship" phone, plastic optics sound crappy.

For a handset with such a broad range of standout features and specs, the Galaxy S II is remarkably easy to summarize. It's the best Android smartphone yet, but more importantly, it might well be the best smartphone, period. Of course, a 4.3-inch screen size won't suit everyone, no matter how stupendously thin the device that carries it may be, and we also can't say for sure that the Galaxy S II would justify a long-term iOS user foresaking his investment into one ecosystem and making the leap to another. Nonetheless, if you're asking us what smartphone to buy today, unconstrained by such externalities, the Galaxy S II would be the clear choice. Sometimes it's just as simple as that.

Fanbois always complain, but to be honest, Apple does a lot right with their stuff and, generally, the praise is warranted. For the majority of people Android is "different" and not as comfortable as the dead simple Apple solution...
I am more amazed that the EVO3D was so mediocre in so many areas. People ***** about the Nexus S lacking 720p video, single core, etc...but the phone "just works" without needing all the gimmicks.
i know most benchmarks are meaningless, but i am sure the Dual Core push is due to ****ty coding on Sense/TW/Blur...My Nexus S crushes my wife's Epic and they are virtually the same core hardware.

The Dual core push is "bad" because they're running on software that is not yet optimized for Dual Core processors. The only things optimized for dual cores are Honeycomb and the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich. But even then, Quadrant isn't optimized for Dual Cores. So like you said, Benchmarks mean nothing.

This is the only Samsung phone I've had luck with. I'm 50/50 on swapping for the evo 3d. HTC phones tend to be heavy and for me that really kills it.

Which one would you upgrade to and why?

They both seem like good contenders, but personally I am going for the within(galaxy II) unless sprint decides to put a keyboard on it. The sammys cameras have always been on the top list, and watching some vids on the sgs2, the phone destroys all other benchmarks. This video shows a side by side comparison with the 3d, and the sammy seems to win in every category. Motorola has big shoes to fill...

Photon has a photo button and kickstands and higher resolution. And we don't know the sg2 is faster, it has not been tested against the photon. There is rumored to be a Tegra 2 version on the sg2 out there and we might get that one in the us making it almost the same as the photon. Just saying

I think you should check em both out and see which one you like more. People are acting like the sgs2 is some sort of god phone bit really all of these phones are so similarly spec'd that it really comes down to personal preference. I have the E3D and everything about it is sick. I may get an sgs2 to replace my OG EVO though as I would prefer that over the Motorola.
Tapa tapa tapa
I have had bad luck with samsung hardware
but man that photon4g is wayy to sexy
i woud go sgs2. but as said above, it REALLY depends on the processor. ofc, if it gets tegra 2, itll be the same, then its really cosmetics and stock ui... but from what ive read, the Exynos/Orion processors are MUCH faster than the competition. even at 1ghz, the exynos is supposed to be able to beat the tegra. fingers crossed.
The Photon, only because the Samsung GSII might not come in CDMA flavor (carrier blocking), from what I've read.
Otherwise, yeah the GSII.

This is what could really keeps me from considering the Photon but on the other hand, I really want the extra resolution the 3D and Photon have.
Another thing to consider is time to market with Software updates. Although the E3D, SGS2, and Photon all launch with Android 2.3 certain manufacturers are quicker and better at releasing official updates.
I for one have not seen a Samsung firmware release go as planned in over a year. Their updates seem to take forever and when they do roll out they are still buggy (The latest Froyo update to the Sprint version of the SGS was pulled twice before a proper release was done). HTC on the other hand updates first and updates often and very rarely has issues. As far as Motorola is concerned... I can't say as the Photon is the first Moto phone we will be carrying in a long time. That being said I am looking forward to the Photon but my biggest concern is SW support both official and third party.
The Photon is also launching with 2.2.......that and a locked bootloader is reason enough to not get it.
Tegra 2 is also overrated and the Adreno 220 and Exynos easily match, and even beat it in some benchmarks.
I haven't read it confirmed, but it seems likely that it will also have a Pentile display, so despite the higher resolution, it won't look as sharp, as say the screen on the EVO3D.

So it doesn't have a root yet like the 3d, ok

No the Photon is definitely launching with 2.3

It is unconfirmed as to if the boot loader will be locked, at least I have not had a reliable source confirm it. I'll see if I can corner the Motorola rep next time I see him though. If it's anything like the Atrix bootloader it shouldn't be much of an issue though. See:

I am unfamiliar with the differences between a Pentile display and the one the Evo 3D uses. Can you elaborate on how it is inferior?
I'd get the SG2

Love my E3D but since this is for the photon or sgs2 then I would choose the sgs2.

i'm getting the photon. i'm sick of samsung and their lousy and untimely updates. it's between the evo3d and the photon for me, and the "3d" on the new evo really means nothing to me. motorola devices have always been high quality. i won't like the locked bootloader but sammy's record did it for me i guess. the unknown of the photon trumps samsung's terrible record.
dont base your choice SOLELY on the opinions of others. yea, use them to help you out but, when it comes down to it, it's YOUR choice...not theirs. so play around with each phone (I'm assuming you're waiting on the SGSII to land in order to do this anyway so you have the patience already lol). which ever you like better should be the one you get.

of course the photon doesn't have root yet....IT'S NOT RELEASED give it time...it will get it especially since Moto is looking to unlock the bootloader of the Atrix (dunno if it has been done yet)...they'll probably do the same with the Photon (probably not right out of the box tho)
when I was upgrading from the Hero, I went through the same thing (had to choose between OG Evo, Shift and Epic). I wanted the bigger screen so the shift was out right away. I played with both the Evo and the Epic and yea the Epic was better specs (the 1gHz Hummingbird vs 1gHz Snapdragon, Super AMOLED vs LED) but it just felt cheap to me (IMO that seems to be with A LOT of Samsung phones...i've had quite a few over the years and so did a friend of mine and they (the phones) all seemed like that). I knew the Evo had the better development community but that didn't affect my decision.
long story short, choose what YOU feel would be the better fit for YOU. test them out (also look at the Evo 3D to see what the others are talking about when it comes to the screen)
