How to Delete Google Voice its Giving me Problems - EVO 4G General

I wanted to try it out because I was curious but I dont like it and want the Sprint voice mail back. And because I now downloaded it I am not receiving my texts or mms messages. I tried to remove it through the market and through managing application but it wont let me delete the damn thing how do I get rid of this. I just flashed EVio 3 last night so I am wiping Cache and Dalvik Cache as well as a Factory reset then I am going to re flash it. I hope this works.

When you uninstall it, it will revert to stock settings for your texts and voicemail. If you cant delete it through the market, try going to settings-applications-manage and remove it from there. If that doesnt work, try clearing data and cache from the Market from the Manage Applications menu, then restart and try again.

I did that and I still can un install it and I am having people text me and I am not getting them.
EDIT: I went to google voice online and disabled the account and I can now get texts and mms but now I dont have any sort of voice mail option now the phone will just keep ringing and ringing and never go to voice mail. I called my voice mail and all i get is a busy dial tone so I cant set up my sprint voice mail anymore. I dont know what going on anymore. I even posted my problem on sprints forum, looks like this isnt only happening to me. I went in again to recovery and wiped both cache to see if will do something.

Goto menu, settings, call, and see if you have a voicemail service option. Select my carrier if it's there.

I tried that and selected my carrier but I still have the same issue when I call my voice mail its a busy dial tone not sure what else will fix this
EDIT: I CALLED SPRINT CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND THEY RESOLVED THE ISSUE FOR ME

You can probably just call sprint. A simple reprovisioning of your voicemail can fix this.

If your voicemail is not picking up after unisntallung just call reckless support. Basically they have to remove voicemail and add it back on and it will start working again. I see this happen all the time.

Handcent refuses to download MMS

Hey guys. this just started happening to me yesterday. Handcent refuses to download mms messages. I hit the download button, it blinks over to 'downloading' like it's supposed to, but then switches right back to the download button with no results. I've tried fully restarting the phone and still, nothing happens. I've checked for any available updates in the Market and there's nothing available.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Any tips/tricks to get this working for me?
I've had that happen before. Try clearing cache or cache and data from the app. If that don't work, uninstall it and download/install from market.

Okay so, i went into settings > applications > manage applications > Handcent Messenger and the only option i can find that seems like a cache clear is clear data, which i would assume wipes out all my past convo's. Where should i be looking to clear the cache?
This happened to me on Saturday as well. I received an MMS and I couldn't download it. I was on Wi-Fi at the time so I decided to switch over to 3G and it seemed to do the trick.
Mistasal has a point. WiFi will often take precedence over network and mms won't travel over WiFi. I just assumed you could clear cache. I just reinstalled when it happened to me. Plus you can save all sms/mms with apps like sms backup+ they are free and restore your convos.

The newest version has bugs that's causing the problems. If you could, roll back to version 3.7.9
The phone is supposed to switch to 3g to download mms. You still have the stock messaging app installed? Are you able to download the attachment with that? If not, you could try updating your profile (settings/update/update profile).
Handcent has lots of good issues, but it's downfall is wake lock issues when received messages are not checked. This has been somewhat less of an issue with cm7, but any subsequent messages throw the program into a wakelock state. To clarify, you receive one text, don't look at it. At this point, handcent uses only a few seconds in a wakelock state. Now, repeat test, but also receive a 2nd text (so now 2 unread texts). Wakelock state will be present until you unlock the phone. Not good.
Oddly enough, my phone only d/l's and sends MMS when WiFi is on. If I'm on 3G, I can only sent text messages. Handcent always gave me so much trouble with htis, I only use stock MMS now.
Your phone supposedly isn't supposed to download mms over wifi, only 3g/1x. Also, go to your stock messaging app, settings, and make sure your "auto retrieve" box is checked.

I dunno about the data connection. It worked when wifi was on and didn't work while it was off.
I'm also not able to download images in the stock messenger unless i'm on wifi.
Finally, if i turn on the auto-retrieve, i'll have two sets of messages to check.
You can have auto retrieve on, but you need notifications turned off in stock

Sprint Visual Voicemail AOSP

Okay so i spent 4 days uninstalling and reinstalling the sprint VVM app and following the directions from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982966&page=14
I must have attempted it over 200 times when suddenly.. IT JUST WORKED, i did a little dance, jumped around, did a backflip, the usual celebration stuff
Anyway, 24 hours later my MIUI somehow got stuck in a bootloop so i had to do a restore and i lost it, needless to say i've tried another 200 times to get my sprint visual voicemail working and it just keeps saying
"Data Restore Failed" On TitaniumBackup
Is there any flashable ZIP that i can just flash and get my VVM working? this is driving me insane, i have no idea what i did different the one time it worked but i just cannot get it to work again.. pleaaaaaase help
your not doing it right then, it has worked countless times for myself and friends. Somewhere along the lines you are skipping something or not following the directions fully
Trust me i am doing everything right
1.) Uninstall the voicemail
2.) Install the Voicemail APK
3.) Copy/paste the files from zip into the Titanium Backup Folder
4.) Restore DATA only from voicemail in titanium backup
and it should work.. but i get Data Restore Failed every single time
I swear i had seen a flashable zip fix for this somewhere, has anyone done this succesfully and have a zip?
Finally just got it working, i had to uninstall/reinstall Titanium Backup and then it worked, only took me like 60 more tries lol.. I am DEFINTEILY gonna make a nandroid back up RIGHT AWAY, but would still be interested in this ZIP for future referenes
Okay well i got the Application to install correctly, but i'm still not getting the voicemails to it... I was using google voice and i just tried to test my new sprint VVM and the voicemail still went to google's voice, so i uninstalled it and i keep trying to compose a message to myself and nothing is coming back...do i need to do something to turn off google voicemail ?

I have this same problem with google voice just earlier this morning.
First you have to login google voice account via the net and deactivate google voice. It will prompt you to dial *38 to deactivate, this should now revert you back to sprint visual voicemail. Hope this help.

[Q] Ghost Voicemail Icon

Any time I reboot the voicemail icon pops up. The only way I can find to clear it is to delete the data using app manager or wipe the data in Titanium for Phone 4.4 (Voicemail) but every time I reboot, it pops up again. I am running Gummy 4.4. If anyone knows of a way to stop this it would be deeply appreciated. I have tried freezing it already. I don't know if this makes a difference but I also have Google Voice and I use that for VM. I tried deleting the Google VM account, leaving a VM through the old Sprint VM and deleting but that did not fix the problem.
Cont.
I called Sprint, no luck even when the deactivated my Sprint Voicemail. I found an app called Notification Off that I am using for now. It automatically disables the notification when it comes up. Not the perfect outcome but it will have to do until someone figures this out.

Voicemail notification won't go away

I've had my MXPE for about a week now, and ever since I've activated it, I've had a constant voicemail notification that won't go away, and re-notifies me every couple hours. I'm on Sprint, and I've already contacted their customer support, they had me reprogram the phone, then do a factory reset and the notification was still there. So they told me to contact Motorola for support saying it must be a software issue, but Motorola said it wouldn't be software it would be with Sprint. I've waited a few days, but it's still there and I've missed important messages because I didn't know I was being left voicemail. Is there any fix for this, or should I just return the phone? I haven't seen anyone else complain about it, so I'm thinking it might just be my particular phone does have buggy software.
Edit: I've tried both leaving myself a message and clearing my phone app cache, that makes it go away for about an hour and then it comes right back.
Have you tried just deleting the 1 voice mail that is giving you problems? Maybe it is hung up in the system somehow.

I have no messages in my voicemail, and Sprint reset my services so I had to completely set the system up again.
That happened to me and it was a result I believe of Google Voice. I eventually had to sign up for visual voicemail through AT&T, log on, and the message was there. I had to delete it from visual voicemail and it deleted from my phone.

Was having the same issue too, on AT&T. I saw it right when I was transitioning from my backup S5 and then ignored it because it said it was coming from my Google Voice account. Kept getting stupid VM notifications for as long as I've had this phone and just came across this post. Never thought to check my AT&T voicemail, which is where their "welcome" voicemail was stored, no other messages, and deleted that sucker. Hopefully no more VM notifications pop up!

Visual Voicemail fix?

Can't find the other posts about this.. but like everyone else, I checked the VVM setting, cleared cache, rebooted etc and didn't see the VVM option when I opened up the stock dialer. Well by accident I swiped to the left and the tab popped up. It's just over to the right. I didn't see anyone else bring this up, so I thought I would mention it. Hopefully that helps someone.

I still don't see it. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. I would like to figure it out.
In the tabs up top.. Speed Dial, Contacts etc.. just swipe it to the left like you're scrolling over to it.
If I remember correctly, if you're on Tmo, you need to uninstall the tmo vvm app.

Worked for me to uninstall Tmobile vvm app, clear data/cache in stock dialer, reboot, and the voicemail tab was there. But I'm still have trouble with the "can't activate vvm" error afterward.
If you go to Settings>Call settings>Voicemail, is the vvm option enabled?

Thanks, I tried it a 2nd time and it worked
Glad you got it working. Coming from the essential phone and briefly 3XL the VM tab was right there in the dialer screen, so I had no idea I had to swipe over to it. Figured that might be some people's issues with it. The only other thing I did was change out my older SIM card with the one in the box. I like to do that every second phone or so.

Did you restart the phone and then go into dialer settings and turn on visual VM?
I had posted about it in another thread, I ended up giving up on a solution since it won't allow activation. The Tmo app is easy enough to use anyway.

Yeah tried it all
Strange. Got mine to work just now following the instructions mentioned in this thread.
I have the opposite problem. I can't keep the VVM from the carrier switched off.
I use Google VM and the VVM for each SIM keeps getting enabled.
I have tried everything that was suggested and I can now see the Voicemail tab when I swipe over although the "change pin" setting is grayed out within the voicemail settings therefore VVM is not functioning. Good news I am getting voice to text transcription now sent via SMS so that's something different.
I had to go through a relatively roundabout process to get the VVM in the stock dialer to activate. I was trying to switch to Google dialer, but apparently, while the voicemail tab does show up, voicemails don't actually come through and show notifications with Gdialer.
Ended up having to force stop / disable stock dialer and re-enable to have the vvm actually activate, and it's been fine since.

No solution.
I have an older version of Voice that will do integration, but VVM keeps turning back on, even though I declined.
I don't know.

Something like 4.7. You need to look on the app mirror.
It's the last version before 5.x
