Bit of an odd one, I installed widgetsoid to allow me to turn off data network, flip screen rotation and wireless. All was ok until yesterday evening. Regardless of what I did I had no data connection at all and still don't.
I have removed widgetsoid completely and still have no normal data. I have ensured data is activated,my network is selected as orange but I still see no 3g or edge...thankfully I'm at home on wireless but as soon as I leave the house I won't be receiving emails etc.
If anyone has experience with this issue then let of know!

Check your APN settings etc you may need to manual remake all your network details .

Hi a bit of history first. I used kies to flash my phone with 2.3.4. (UK based). It work perfectly for a few days. I then need to restart my phone when I did this I lost my data connection.
I tried accessing the APN settings but i get an error message. I tried everything I even flashed Lightning 6.1 (also 2.3.4). and when I reset the phone again the data connection was not working I have to do a complete reboot. I assume it is has something to do with 2.3.4. I am in South Africa on the MTN network can someone help me with this.
I have the same problem and opened a thread on q&A section please look at there.

Thanks I will re-post this there. I did do a search but nothing but this thread came up.

Hi,
I just came back from a 4 days trip to Rome, and I've not been able to connect to data even once.
Tests were done with all of the available operators in both 3g and 2g. I called my operator who confirmed I'm connected and that it's all open for data. Tried downloading weather, activesync, browser, emails, etc. I also tried to re-install the parameters, using the automatic HTC configuration.
Everything went again fine as soon as I landed back in my country.
What can be the problem? I'm really short of clue. I just regret not having tried a hard reset...
Thanks
Best guess is that you somehow had the wrong APN?
Could be, but:
-the apn I used was the one automatically installed by the Connection Setup' tool.
-the apn works fine in my country, and it is supposed to work the same in roaming.
Anyone have this issue? After using the phone for a couple of hours, I have to actually either reboot the phone or turn the data services off and then on again in order to regain the data services in the on position. It seems to turn itself off various times throught the day. Anyone else having the same problem. I am running a T Mobile HTC HD2. I can't update weather, stocks or email until I reboot the phone. HELP ME PLEASE, DRIVING ME CRAZY!
You should try and contact T-Mobile for the full specifications of how to set up the internet connections on your HD2. This is what I did with Vodafone, and they sent me a whole list of items to set up on my device, such as the connection name, modem, access point, name & password and full proxy settings, for both HTTP and WAP.
Also, try and go to your network settings, and somewhere there should be an Advanced tab of some sort, where you can select from Mobile Internet and My Work Network. Always use Mobile Internet, as I have had trouble with My Work Network many times before.
Sorry I couldn't help you more. =/
I some times have problems but i dont quilify to help you since im using a unlocked hd2 and on the att network and not the default rom

You have a bad combination of Rom and Radio Rom.
(yes, even the stock rom and radio rom can be a bad combination)
Solution is flashing another radio.
read about it on the last 4 pages of this thread:

Hi:
I am using AmeriCanAndroid AOSPHD2GB232CM7RC1|bkup2sdext234[KERNEL:AmCanAndroid r2.21] and just about everything works perfectly.
The only issue I seem to have is in Android, I cannot use the mobile phone to get internet. The Phone sends and receives call perfectly, but if I want to use Market or the browser, I get the error:
A NETWORK ERROR HAS OCCURED. rETRY OR cANCEL AND RETURN TO PREVIOUS SCREEN.
I think I have tried every combination of settings in the wireless section. Is anyone else having this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help!

the only known temp(!) fix is to restart ur phone , given ur settings are correct it should work for a while .... have you been switching data on/off a few times? thats when it happens to me ....
be sure to report this problem to rom cooker so it gets fixed faster ...
When you say restart, do you mean restart android? I don't think I have ever been connected, unless there was WIFI in the area.
I use this ROM without these problems.
Try to check the apn and the DNS. Have a look at the faq.

And : there is a TMobile US and a standard version.
Do you use the right one?

everything works perfectly fine except for my data connection.
the only way i can use the internet is via wifi
No data connection
Yes I also has the same problem. Please let me know if you find a solution. Wifi works fine on my HD2 after flashing to Anroid 2.2 Bur no data connection through phone connection.
Thanks,
Mathew
No Data connection
I am have the same problem on my phone also. Have the T-Mobile phone using the ATT system. Have tried several different roms and still cannot get a Data connection. A lot of us need some help please. If anyone can shed light on this, please let us know.
call t-mobile
i called t-mobile and told them, i could only connect to the internet via wifi. i pay for data and i cant connect unless its through wifi. DO NOT mention that you flashed your phone, put a different ROM or Android.
After doing this my internet started to work again
hopes this helps
do you set your APN?
May I ask what you told TMO?
I read in an older post that you may have to switch from smartphone data plan to android data plan to connect to the internet, does anyone have any idea about this??
I also am curious if my build is synonymous with failed data connection... as well as (not related item) battery sucking....???or any other know issues as I seem to misplaced the page I downloaded it from...
Hi everyone,
a few days ago, i posted in the Q&A Section a question about apps which maybe auto-enabling data roaming, see here.
Today I tried it again (using my Laptops connectivity and connected the phone via adhoc wifi), updated a few apps and so...
Out of curiousity I startet OTA (via About -> system updates) and recognized a warning about data roaming (fortunately i was still connected via wifi).
Fact is: after I started OTA (and got the message, that no update was found) data roaming was enabled. Even after i deactivated "data roaming" (but left "use data" on) and tried OTA again, this setting was re-enabled.
From my point of view, this is a very severe bug!
Be my guest and try it yourself, leave feedback, if you like. My system specs are below.
Kind regards,
ww
It seems i didn't make myself clear enough thx for the advice.
So here is the whole deal:
I am using an austrian phone, but work most of the time in germany. Usually i don't disable data, even though i am in Germany right now, but disable data roaming to avoid costs.
Usually i use a wifi router of a friend to access the internet, as yesterday evening. There i tried the option "system updates" (of 2.2.1 - also known as OTA). After that i checked the data roaming setting and it was enabled, all of the sudden. Even after a reboot and data roaming still disabled, after checking "system updates", this option was re-enabled.
My general rom is DBT, as i bought the phone in germany, but i use an austrian SIM.
Today i tried the same with adhoc - same result - so I guess, this is a overall bug of android - so i openend an issue there.
Have you tried it in an foreign country or "at home"? My guess is, that is the key to reproduce this bug.
Cheers,
ww
I think you don't get my point:
Where are you using your phone: Slovakia SIM in Slovakia? Then you will not be able to reproduce it. Or am i getting something wrong here?
Exactly - it is ONLY happening while roaming - not at my home area that's while i wrote "don't use it in foreign countries"
Confirmed
OK, just for you and my aproach I tested it on my egyptian sim (wasnt dsiabled even though no credit ) and
I CAN CONFIRM IT!!!
Will add screenies so you trust me . but this is bad ... will add comment to it on google as well. Good catch though!
btw: from the tests it didnt happen all the time 3/4 but I guess the 4th was due the fact it didnt even connect to the server and just close itself.
Seriously when someone has data roaming active (carrier ) and this activates without his knowing...
EDIT: Added pics (so my post is more trustworthy after the fiasco up there (which I asked a very good mod to erase my posts) )
I can confirm the error
Using SIM WIND.IT in Germany: Data roaming was enabled after Update-Check.
Phone: DBT
Location: germany
SIM: Wind.it (Roaming)
If we sign out the samsung account will it still enable data roaming? cause without a samsung account it will not allow check.

Its like telling "dont check"
This wouldnt help us much?
Imagine you are a month abroad. You want to check for an update (XDA says "new omega super ultra fast original OTA update from Samsung/ or you check like "just in case") you go "check for updates" and you wont notice its active ... till you are on wifi its ok, imagine you go out of range and the phone does its own .
(once I had google maps on my symbian phone for 3 days active, didnt notice, the phone was just on my dresser, and it used up 700MB... from my 2GB plan, if this happened on roaming would pay it till now )
....connected the phone via adhoc wifi...wtf
I thought that android couldn't connect to adhoc wifi (stupid bug)
Are you sure it was adhoc?

Doesnt matter if it was adhoc (mine was AP).
And yes you can connect to adhoc if you has root + etc (not sure if it goes without it too)
Oh yeah, I remember it's not working for non-root.
It is not important, which connection you use (I tested it with wifi AP and adhoc), i activates data roaming nevertheless.
I guess the best option is to leave a comment here at google as well to get this fixed really soon...
All the best,
ww
Can anyone please verify, if this bug is still present in 2.3.3?
would test this for you, but there is currently a "might be" bug with the OTA. (Something about high cpu usage and battery drain when OTA).
So I wouldn't advice to use it at all :/

what network are you on?
have you tried deleting all other APN's except the one you need?
Do you have signal at all / are you connected to the phone network and able to take / receive calls? or is nothing working?

I am on Straight Talk.
I just deleted the other "ATT" apn that was there. Currently only have the ST one selected and present.
I have "H+" in the notification pane and its "blue" meaning what i thought was "active data". But nothing

has the data worked at any point before?
This is the problem that lots of people over in this thread are having ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2084706&
We are hoping for some sort of fix to this in 4.2.2, but until then we haven't been able to find a solution. If you are 100% certain the APN settings are correct (I can't help with that as from UK so not familiar with that network) then there isn't much you can do. For me, the only thing I ever find that sometimes brings it back is if I turn airplane mode on, leave it for 30 seconds then turn it off again. Likewise, you can click on the APN to reset that each time.
If you are rooted, Faux released a modified kernal which is meant to improve data drops and the wake issue which some nexus's have.

did you cut your own micro sim?
try a spare sim if you have one.
Reset APN to default, delete all and try again.
I don't know what else to suggest other than the above / phoning google / rooting and trying a different kernal and ROM / wait for 4.2.2 update.
(In the meantime please post in the thread linked above, no need for this duplicate thread just for your issue )
