Revive locked SD-card with Killdisk works ! - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Yesterday I used the tool Killdisk (Free Edition) to try and revive my locked Transcent 16 GB Micro SD Card. I normally use this tool to revive my SSD's when installing a fresh version of Windows. The tool does not look at partitions but simply writes zero's ("00000") to the medium.
I used the Linux version located on the ultimate boot CD (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/). So I booted my laptop with the ultimate boot CD in it (USB reader + mico SD card plugged in). Ran the Killdisk tool for over 5 hours (!!).
After that I booted my Windows and I was able to format the micro SD card !
So no Nokia phone was needed .....
Hope it works for everybody with a locked card.

yea but how did you get your pc to recognize your sd card i am using my psp thats the only way my pc recognizes my sd card

Within Windows my pc did not recognize my SD card. But when I use the bootcd (restart machine, boot from cdRom enabled) the pc will start a Linux distribution with a menu with all the tools. When starting the Killdisk tool it recognized the locked SD Card. Using this tool from the ultimate boot cd it is all very straight forward. No Linux knowledge is required ....

so i need lenux boot cd? where do i get it?

Hi Perlian, well done.
For your information, I found the windows version of killdisc (v5.5) and it does recognise that the sd is inserted but says "disc not ready", and you cannot start formatting. Oh well it was worth a try
You should post this method in the "[REF] - Confirmed Devices for unlocking WP7 encrypted SD Cards" thread

I hope it does work though
Best of luck

Can anyone provide more info on how to use killdisk with UBcd please?
I don't know if i'm just missing something obvious, but I get as far as launching killdisk, but it doesn't recognise my USB card reader. It only shows hard drives.
Other utilities on the bootcd recognise the card reader, but can't format my sd card.
Can anyone offer some advice, please?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

Please help me.
Today I downloaded the UltimateBootCD. I've burned on a CD, boot my PC with the USB-Card-Reader and then I choose the option ActiveKillDisk.
What I have to do after this?
I'm afraid that all my HD's are killed after.
Please, sorry for my english!
Is there a manual in german for this program online?
Thanks from Germany

you should be able to find your sd by starting killdisk, then inserting the card in cardreader, then hit refresh. The card should appear.
I think there is only one option and that is to format the sd.
As for german, try google killdisk and translate user guide

Thanks for your reply, but I using UBcd I still can't see my USB card reader, even after refreshing etc.
On the UBcd menu it gives a summary of what each program does, and Killdisk is listed as being able to wipe hard drives, but it doesn't say USB devices.
Other programs on UBcd which list USB support recognise the card reader, but can't format my SD card.
Is there a later version of killdisk which supports USB??

hmm thats a very good question & id say it is the last question in our serch for soluion to bad no one else has commented much on this subject anyway if thare is not
lunix is open sorce so maby we could mod the kill disk program or boot cd?
i have not atempted to even download or use the program kildisk so i dont have any idia but i am no stanger to lunix and all of its 32 flavers!
i dont see why we couldent add some more code to it to enable it to serch for usb?
if it would help users it might be worth a shot
truth be told i know its a real pain to have your card locked and basicly bricked and locked and bound to the wp7 os only
i searched for a week to find a solution and made a tutorial out of puting to and to together and connecting te dots and it wasent easy and as it turnsd out it only works for hd2 users and even that is unconfermed at teh moment
i eventuly got back mybricked & then resurected phone and reinsteled my wp7 os with the locked card wich enabled me to then just use an application to unlock it from the phone wich seams to be the easyest way right now
the fact that we find these tools and thay actuly work is only ben confermed buy one person at the time i wright this
i think it should be in the fine print in the orional post
IF YOUR GOING TO DOWNGRADE FROM WP7.5 TO ANY OTHER ROM YOU MUST FIRST UNLOCK YOUR MICRO SD CARD! with one of the knowen methods!
all i read at the time was some lunix disrto unlocked it sence then devices have ben confermed and also other unlocking metod like this!
if you to end up finding a new way with your usb addapter problum please post your results!

The first thing you have to make sure is that you see and select the correct drive. The way I did it was that I first booted everything without the usb-micro-SD-card reader to see what drives it would see. After that I plugged in the reader, rebooted the machine and ran killdisk again. I saw that my SD card was identified as a floppy drive.
The screen looks similar like this:

"lightbox_next": "Next",

Just make sure you select the SD-card and choose to Erase (in this case F10)
To confirm the selection you will have to type: ERASE-ALL-DATA in the pop-up.
The you will have to wait for a few hours ....
Good luck !

Upgrading the ROM - Bootloader/SD Card Method

Updating your Qtek ROM using the 'SD Card' or 'Bootloader' Method
Forenote:
Even though I have centered these instructions to refer to the Qtek 1010 specifically, please note that they can also be applied to the following devices: O2 XDA / HTC Spaceneedle / PW10 / PW20 / Siemens SX56 / T-Mobile MDA
How do I update my ROM with an SD Card?
This is a question I see so often on the XDA-Developers Forum and I will try to present as detailed instructions as I can.
But first:
Flashing your Qtek is VERY VERY dangerous. I have already lost one Qtek by accidentally flashing it incorrectly. Please remember this. I will not be held responsible for anyone's trashed Qtek.
Ok.
Having said this, lets get on with the upgrade:
Requirements:
A Qtek with at least a 70% Charge on the Battery
A PC/Laptop with a USB Port running Windows NT, 2000 or XP*
An empty SD/MMC Card of at least 64Mb
An SD/MMC Card Reader
The XDA Developers' XDA ROM Image Tool (XDArit)
* The XDA ROM Image Tool will only work on Windows NT, 2000 or XP
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1 - Always Backup your Data
Always have a backup when you play around with your Qtek in this manner. If you have a backup it saves you so much grief. A VERY important point to remember: Similar to your Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, BSD, etc.) the Qtek has what is known as a Boot Loader. This is a location in the Qtek's ROM (Memory) which is first invoked every time the device is reset. This collection of 'instructions' will load the actual Operating System (Pocket PC 2002, Windows Mobile 2003 PE) and actually start up the Qtek where you see your pretty little 'Today' screen and will enable you to run all your programs. Read this next line VERY CAREFULLY:
If your Boot Loader gets trashed for any reason, YOU WILL HAVE A DEAD QTEK. THERE WILL BE NO EASY WAY TO RESTORE YOUR QTEK TO A WORKING DEVICE. IN ESSENCE, YOU WILL END UP WITH A $500 PAPER WEIGHT. I will NOT be touching on any points which involve modifications to the Boot Loader.
Let's first find out how to enter the Boot Loader:
You enter the Boot Loader by performing a Soft Reset while holding down the Power button. You should see a screen similar to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you have Boot Loader Version 5.17 or higher, then please stop reading now because I will only cover Boot Loaders 5.14 & 5.15.
The technique for upgrading with a Bootloader higher that 5.15 is given on the XDA-Developers site. You can find it here.
Next, press the Button which usually brings up your Contacts. You should then see the following screen:
Select the option ' CE ROM TO SD' and press the Action button. YOUR SD CARD WILL BE OVERWRITTEN COMPLETELY AT THIS POINT. Don't have any data on it. You should see this:
The above process should take a few minutes. At least more than five.
Let me explain what we have just done. We have entered the Boot Loader and asked it to Dump the entire OS ROM to our SD Card. It WILL NOT back up your settings or third-party applications. It merely dumps the entire OS to the Card. This is the backup we will use should, God forbid, something goes horribly wrong.
After the ROM is dumped to the SD Card, you will see this screen:
Pressing the Action button at this point of time will reset the device and it should start up as normal.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 2 - Copy your old ROM onto your Hard Disk
Now that you have got a copy of your old ROM on the SD Card, we can now move it to someplace safer on your hard disk. You will use the XDA Developers' XDArit tool for this purpose. The instructions follow.
Remove the SD Card from the Qtek, put it in the Card Reader connected to your PC and start up XDArit.
Choose 'Read from SD Card' and name your backup ROM:
Press OK and the ROM will be copied from the SD Card to your Hard Disk as you specified.
Great! You now have a backup of your old ROM. We will now continue to write the new ROM onto the SD Card using XDArit.
From the main XDArit screen, choose 'Write to SD card'. Here is what should be visible:
Under the 'Windows CE' field, select the Browse button and choose your new ROM to be written onto the SD Card.
Notice that even though the 'Bootloader' field is filled out automatically, it is not ticked. LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS! This is where so many people go wrong and completely trash their Qtek's. For added safety, I make sure to delete the contents of the field, just in case.
Click 'OK' and wait while the SD Card is written. Ensure that you see a 'Successfully written xxxxx blocks' message from XDArit (which I have not been able to screen capture). This will probably save you from writing something corrupted onto your Qtek.
Right! Now you've got your new ROM all setup on your SD Card. All that's left is to flash it to the Qtek. On to step 3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 3 - Writing the new ROM onto your Qtek
So you've got the ROM on your SD Card. What next? Read on:
Insert your SD Card into your Qtek and reset to enter your Bootloader. When you do this, the Bootloader will automatically detect that you have a CE ROM in your SD Card and will ask you to press the Action button to flash the Qtek with this ROM. Press the Action button and wait for the flashing process to complete:
Once the flashing has completed, (after 6-7 minutes) you should be prompted to perform a Cold Boot or a Hard Reset:
Congratulations! You've just flashed your Qtek ROM using the 'SD Card' or 'Bootloader' method. Enjoy your new ROM.

Dear sheran_g
this will help lots of users who wants to have a look to the new version of Microsoft Mobile 2003 OS.
some people who doesn't have SD or MMC card migth need to wait for somebody like Mr. Jeff who did the xda-developers ROM exe file or wait for the official release which won't be free as confirmed by Carrier Devices the main distributors of Qtek
i have seen a post on another forum and here's what it says
Microsoft Mobile 2003 represents several major feature enhancements to
Pocket PC 2002, especially in the connectivity and mobility aspects
where the Qtek 1010 is very strong. As Microsoft has just released the
new upgrade there will be a short delay for us to finalise the other
elements we need to add to the operating system in order to complete our
devices. We will be providing an upgrade at an additional cost once our
integration is complete and we have checked the compatibility of
existing applications with Microsoft Mobile 2003.
thanks again sheran_g for the great job.

Thanks for instructions
HI Sheran,
Thanks for the great instructions. I am not computer literate and intend to use Jeff's exe to upgrade my 3.16.32 ENG rom to the SER ver 1.2 which is available for use. I intend to back up my rom just in case things go wrong as you have so vividly described. So do I do the same steps as you outlined in backing up my old rom to my sd card? If things go wrong, do I simply insert my sd card with the backed up rom and reboot with the soft reset and my xda would then automatically recognised the old rom and ask for flashing? What is the action button you mentioned in your description?
Sorry for being a complete idiot and hope you could kindly provide the much needed valuable tips.
Cheers
Vic
Hi there,
Yes, you can restore your old ROM if you back it up through the Bootloader onto your SD Card. If you have the SD Card with the old ROM and reset your XDA into the Bootloader, it will ask you if you want to flash. Press the Action button at this point. (Step 3 of the Procedure)
The Action button is your navigation button. Push down on it whenever it says 'Press the Action button'
Hi Sheran,
Thanks for quick answer. Will do that as told.
One question though- will all the programs I have including things like contacts etc be erased if I flash my rom with the SER ver 1.2? I suppose this will happen since I need to hard boot the set once the rom is flashed?
Cheers
Vic
Yes. All of it will go. The SD Backup only covers the OS and not your settings, apps, contacts, etc.
Hi Sheran,
Thanks for info.
Guess I have to sync in all appts and contacts first prior to flashing rom. There is a SD backup program in my program list; wonder if this is useful to back up the programs?
Cheers
Vic
The SD Backup utility will back everything up onto your SD Card. I can't say that I've tried it, but I use Pocket Backup from Sprite Software. It's got some really great features including a Self Extracting backup file. One click and all your data is restored!

Hello VHS,
I'd really advise you to read the link on the xda-developers site concerning the 5.17 bootloader. I do not have any detailed info about flashing with the 5.17 bootloader at this time. I will share as soon as I put some documents together.
Check this link out. Look up the section entitled "Dealing with 5.17 bootloaders"
Hi Sheran,
I have one question about updating the rom using bootloader method.
Step "Flashing from SD card":On your site it is written not to tick "Bootloader" field by writing to SD card.
But on the xda-developers site it is ticked.
Cab you pls.explain the step "write to SD card".
What should I write excactly on the"write to SD card" screen.
Thanks.
brgds
rats
PS:On the xda-developers site it is written to enter the file names:
Bootloader: C:\test\5-15.nb0
Windows CE: C:\test\3.14.17-O2Asia.nb1
Should I write this fieldnames or the names on your site?
Hello folks and many thanks for the information.
I am trying to copy a ROm from a friend's XDA and we both have the 5.15 bootloader. I have tried your method where I have a SD card but not a card reader. Pressing the Power button and doing a soft reset tokk me to the bootloader page and pressing the "contacts" button allowed me to writ the CE Rom to the SD card
Now, I am unable to write this to my device
I have inserted the SD card into my device and have done a soft reset, nothing happened, Indeed, I was asked if I want to format the SD card to make it useable!
I have pressed the power button and done a soft reset, took me to the bootloader start page but then nothing happened
What am I supposed to do to get the already written ROm (on my SD card) to my unit?
Thanks in advance
Did you go ahead and format the SD Card? If so, you will have to dump your friend's ROM back again onto the SD Card and repeat the process.

Its sounds like you only have the CE ROM hence nothings happening.
To do what you're trying to do you need the CE+Boot.
Have tried this and now it copied it. However it the end, the message I get says :check sum is incorrect and I am unable to boot my device
Any ideas? PLEASE!
Can't Boot Now
Seems like you overwrote your bootloader. Not sure why you did this. You only needed to write the OS to ROM. Not good news but it seems as though you have a pretty cool paperweight now.
Qman, your post meantioned writing both CE and Boot, why was this? Thought only the CE needed to be written according to above instructions and other websites.
The CE+Boot makes your SD bootable without it you're unable to boot from the SD. Since he didn't have a PC SD reader that was the best way to upgrade his OS besides going the .exe route. I have used this method more than once without incident.
As far as only needing CE this is in regards to using XDARit to write to PC and back to SD since the bootloader is added automatically writing to SD.
It appears now that XDARit maybe his only option to correct the incorrect check sum and in getting is XDA back online.
SD Boot
Hi Qman, thanks for the info. I'm just trying to get a good grip on this whole process and was unsure as to your comments. They are appreciated.

Upgrading from SD Card

i have used the OSimage tool to write the desired rom version cooked from yorch.net, it write it & when i preformed a resed by pressing the power botoon simultansly with the reset button, i get the boot loader screen & not an upgrade screen
what's yoru bootloader version ? ... is it 5.22 ?
thanks for your concern but i have boot loader 5.17, i understood its more protected & intentionally would not load from SD if am correct what is the solution?
Same Problem
Hello,
i have exactly the same problem. My bootloader version is 5.22.
What can i do?
Bootloader 5.17
My RSU upgrade failed and bootloader shows GSM error
When I press I think the contacts key (left top) Im getting the 4 options

Anyone has any hints how to get the XDA back on line
this would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
The best bootloader version for SD method is 5.15 and you can use the XDAtools to flash the bootloader to 5.15

How can i do an downgrade of bootloader without having a runnig OS?
And without getting the downgrade recognized from SD?
i have downloaded my bootloader to 5.15 but still can't boot from SD, BTW my sd is a 256mb would it make a defferance?
Somebody did write in the forums about having a card key error with a 256MB card. Try and get your hands on a 64MB card. I did some research on this, and there were a couple of people who posted that they solved this problem for themselves; unfortunately they didn't post how they did it .
SD Card and XDATools
My SD card is 64Mb and I use 6in 1 reader writer.
Somhow I have a problem with XDAtools to recognise the SD card so I used XDArit 1.o which allowed me to download the patch for bootloader 5.17 to bypass this Key passward and I could download the Bottloader+ROM to the card but when I wanted to modify the files names to reload them back to 02XDA none of the XDA tools would recognise the card. The message was that the SD card is not formated and if I want to format it. So I'm stack again.
Any GOOD ideas out there??
TIA

So you got it to recognise to load the bootloader patch, but can't get the O/S written? There's a couple of things I'm not getting here, I've done this procedure quite a few times, including downgrading the bootloader so I don't need to patch it anymore.
The first thing that doesn't make sense to me is
when I wanted to modify the files names to reload them back to O2XDA none of the XDA tools would recognise the card
Click to collapse
How do you mean modify the filenames? If you're using XDRit, you select "write to SD card", then click the [...] beside the type of write you want to do - O/S, bootloader or diagnostics, and you select the correct header type. You obviously got all that right to load the diagnostics to patch the bootloader. If you've patched the bootloader then when you write the O/S onto the SD card you select the headers option that you did *not* use for the diagnostics patch. The card was recognised in order to write the bootloader, so it will be equally recognised to write an O/S. You would need to elaborate on the type of error here, maybe even make some screenshots. Infact, I'll post some screenshots as a followup to this message.
The second thing that doesn't make sense to me is
The message was that the SD card is not formated and if I want to format it
Click to collapse
If you're trying to load the O/S from the patched bootloader you don't ever get any such message. If you select "Restore SD" from the patched bootloader and the info on the card is not recognised *nothing will happen*. There is no option to format it in the diagnostics. The option to format happens when you reboot your PPC and get into the O/S, it will recognise that the card is not formatted and prompt to do so.
That suggests to me that you are loading the bootloader patch, writing the O/S onto that card, putting it back into the machine and rebooting. That's the only place that message can appear. Once you patch the bootloader, you enter the diagnostics screen with the Action key, you then remove the SD card, write the O/S upgrade onto it using XDRit. Then place the SD card back into the device and select Restore SD. If you selected the correct headers in XDRit it will start writing the ROM, if you did not select the right headers, nothing will happen.
I hope that helps and that I haven't misunderstood, but from the info you have given the messages can only come from certain stages in the bootup lifetime.

3. Put the SD card in your device and press reset while holding the power button, when the bootloader screen loads, press Action and you should be presented with the (patched) diagnostics screen as follows:
Wallay Patch
Tool 1.2/5.17
-------------
Boot -> SD
CE -> SD
Boot+CE -> SD
Restore SD
About
Exit
4. Remove the SD card from your device and put it back into the SD card reader (leave your device switched on in diagnostics mode). In XDARit, select Write to SD Card, select the "at least 5.17 (3.5K) bootloader header option, and tick the Windows CE box. Locate your O/S update file and click OK to write the image to your SD card.
When complete (about 7 minutes) remove the SD card from the card reader and place back into your PPC phone. Use the arrow direction keys at the bottom of the phone to select "Restore SD", you will get a confirmation message and the device will begin reading the update.
Having Programs A&B how to get imiges for SD card to fla
Ebswift,
You are great and I thank you for your time.
In my posting I was not realy clear and you right there.
Even prior to your detailed explanation I did the bootloader 5.15 stuff as you suggested and it worked but the rest I messed up.
My old brain is not working as efficient as yours so somehow I thought that I can recover the bootloader + ROM imiges directly form my XDA, rename them and flash the XDA again. Now I guess it was wrong.
However the question now would be how I can create *.nb0 and nb1 from the 02XDA downloaded programs A&B?

I believe than an .nbf file is a combined .nb0 and.nb1 file. If you use WinRAR you can locate a .nbf file within the installer .EXE file.
I don't know how to seperate the .nbf file into .nbo and .nb1 (well, I guess you can install the .nbf and then back up the ROM and loader seperately using the bootloader, but that's about an evening to accomplsh). But installing the .nbf file might accomplish the same as installing the two files individually.
now i have downgraded my bootloader from 5.17 to 5.15 through the fix in the OSimage tools, still my boot loader menuw doesn't have the restore from SD options, also if i write on my 256 sd card an Nb1 or nbf file to load a new rom it still doen't recoqnize it, as if i still have the 5.17 boot loader, another thing to clarify, when i went to buy an SD card reader/writer, i was told that all reader can write like files into the card (explorer way) others told me the a reader is differant than a reader/writer, which one is more accurate? (i wish someone fix the connection fault in programme A and lets us get rid of all the crappy written & reading
The 5.15 bootloader doesn't have a menu as such. If you write the ROM correctly onto the SD card it will prompt you to restore the ROM automatically in the bootloader. Use the older version of XDRit to write the ROM onto the card, you can't just copy via explorer. Ensure you select the header for pre-5.17.
so i still need an SD card Reader, os is it writer, or a normal reader will do
Cool, i'm gonna try doing that, but i need to know where to get the bootloader and windowsCE files from.
I have wallaby V5.22, and need to put it all back on as described in this thread:

Use any device that assigns the SD card its own drive letter and you'll be able to read/write, do whatever you like. I personally used an X-Drive.
Help copying bootloader v5.15 to SD reader
I cannot figure out how to copy the bootloader_v5_15.nb0 to the SD card on my reader in a format that will be recognized by my XDA. All the examples here are will the older XDA tools which I can't find. I have the newest (I think) XDA OS Image tool and I can't seem to figure out how to get it to put the bootloader file on the SD card in the right format. Thanks.

Very big problem

What do you mean by mixed content?
http://yfrog.com/2tmixedcontentj that is what I mean.
Can u display the content of your card on your phone? if yes, I would suggest to connect the phone to usb (don't mount the sd card to pc), start adb and pull every content to your hdd (adb pull /sdcard/* YOURBACKUPLOCATION). Then reformat the sd card (format device J: via Windows) to FAT32...this should do it
EDIT: I did it, but when I pull it says : 0files pulled. 0 files skinned.
It's probably corrupt.
Try on a newer version of Windows (I see you're using Win 2000! Unless it's a skin).
Can you see them in Astro?
And have you done anything to your SDcard recently? like tried to make a Goldcard?
Also try accessing the SD card without going through phone (even if I don't think it's the problem, but better try everything before formatting). You can do this in many ways, e.g some computers (especially laptops) and printers have built in SDcard readers, or you could use a camera or Micro SD to USB adapter (like this one or this one).
I made my goldcard when I rooted the phone. It's a skin, it's XP actually No I didn't do anything to it. But do I really need to adb pull? 'cause I can replace what's on it(music bla bla).
well I'll format it, because I'd rather do this than spend money
edit: hmm strange, if I click on properties it shows me exactly the memory on it, it's 1.12 gb free.
well actually now it's in scaning for errors xD, hmmm no problem found. Ok FORMATTING NOW.

Goldcard by viperbjk

here is a way to get every stock rom on your HD7 phone.
(I tested it and it works )

Happy XMAS :
Go and get your WM7 or Android goldcard for free :
Link to the goldcard generator
In order to use the WM7 goldcard, just use an Host USB Cable (Developer Y-Cable) and connect a sdcard reader to it.
Edit :
For those who do not understand how to use the goldcard :
- Use any sdcard and a wm5 or android device to make the goldcard (Yet we do not know how to read the cid using WM7)
- Buy a Mini USB On the go Y-Cable like this one :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLOCK-USB-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1292614709&sr=8-1
Also buy a converter from standard usb to micro usb.
OR build a usb otg host cable by yourself.
- Get an external usb sdcard reader
- Connect the cable this way : Phone is connected to 1x usb sdcard reader and 1x usb port for power.
Then you can use your newly generated goldcard for flashing any HTC OEM Rom

1-Found the CID of your card.
insert your micro sd into an android device (i've do this on hd2)
connect it to your computer as disk drive with usb debug on
then press get cid into Gold Card Tool.exe
we need reversing CID to create img .
2-Generate goldcard.img
go to the link provide by Gold Card Tool.
add your mail, the CID and select Windows mobile 7
Press the Generate button
the goldcard.img is send to your mail box.
Load it to Gold Card Tool
select your android storage letter & press patch MMC.
3-Found HTC original Rom for your Device
Extract exe with winrar then rename Ruu_signed.nbh
to
-Sparimg.nbh for Trophy
-SCHUIMG.nbh for Schubert
- MONDIMG.nbh for Mondrian
- MOZAIMG.nbh for Mozart
copy it to your freshly created goldcard.
4-connect usb cable except the one for the wp7
boot your device into usb host mode(volume down + camera on Trophy)
and connect the last usb cable.
the screen of your wp7 look like this if all work.
with this you can flash official HTC rom on your Vodafone ,O2,Orange...operator device.
i have also flash Spl from official rom to my vodafone Trophy by this way but always a vendor id error with the official updater!!
i'm searching why!
GoldCardTool 0.0.5
tested on Trophy,hd7,Mozart,HTC Surround.

Cees.
To get your CID you need a wm 6.* phone and PSAS http://psas.revskills.de/
1) format your sd-card (fat32 and not bigger then 1GB) and put it in a wm6.* phone and sync it with the pc.
2) Install PSAS and run as admin.
3) goto calculators/generators
4) goto select a device key (pick any)
5) hit the "get sd card serial from WINCE device"
6) copy the generated key and paste it in "SD Card Serial (CID): *"on the goldcard generator web-page.
If you buy the software you can make your goldcards yourself http://psas.revskills.de/?q=payment

1. The goldcard generator works currently for all WM7 HTC phones, including Mozart, Gold and Schubert.
2. Connect the y-cable with sdcard reader and inserted goldcard, connect power usb to notebook or charger.
3. Press camera+volume down+power on to enter the bootloader in host mode.
If you haven't got a y-cable (otg), you can build it by yourself, see attachment.

This is my post from one of the other topics as goldcard method worked a treat for me
Thanks to the help of xboxmod I have now managed to create a goldcard and flash my O2 Branded HD7 into the HTC Europe Unbranded Model.
He did say he was going to put together a post explaining what he had done, but he hasn't done this yet and I dont want to steal his thunder but I am just wanting to put together what I have done to try and help out others.
Basically the cable I used was a 2 USB Y to Mini USB Cable - they normally come with portable 2.5inch hard drives - I bought a Female to Female USB Coupler earlier on in the day which then allowed me to chain my micro USB cable so the phone could be plugged in. Initially I was trying the card reader I had for flashing but it wasnt working, probably because it was a multi reader and not just SD. After XboxMod said he managed to do it directly from his WM6 phone I decided to try this (I have a HTC Diamond 2 and a HTC Touch Pro).
I tried all evening with a 2gb MicroSD card, but it didnt work at all. So in the end I used a 1GB MicroSD.
Anyway this is basically what I did, its late now over here so I'll be brief.
I had problems with PSAS in getting the SD CID, so in the end used my girlfriends Android phone and a cool little utility called goldcard helper (or something to that name) when I compared it with the results I was getting in PSAS the issue seemed to be that PSAS was reversing the CID as required, but instead of my digits been two 0's at the start like they should have been, they were two 2's instead. So I dont know if that helps anyone, if they have similar problems. More testing is probably needed.
I formatted the memory card to FAT32.
I used Windows Mobile for all this process so once again in PSAS I went into the WINCE card tools while the phone was set to ActiveSync and then selected write image file and chose the goldcard.img
Once this was done I then switched back to diskmode, copied goldcard.img to the storage card (not sure if this is needed) and then copied the HTC_Europe ROM for the device. I then renamed it to SCHUIMG.nbh.
I plugged the mini USB into the end of my Y Cable, and plugged power into from a USB on my PC. Then lastly booted into USB Host mode on the HD7 (power, volume down, camera) - make sure you keep it held down right until the screen comes up.
It then stats on the screen SCHUIMG.nbh and begins flashing - takes about 10 minutes - at the end of it I now have a unbranded HD7
Thanks to the help of xboxmod this evening, and thanks to the original poster for pointing out the WP7 goldcard method.

that isn't possible I think because we need the CID from the external sd card .
we use the external sd card for flashing.
the internal sd card is of no use for flashing .
it would be better to make a simple app that can find the cid from sd cards connected to the pc.
I found that the easiest way for me to get the CID was to put the microSD in my Android phone (SE X10 mini) and download a small app for it. Easy way to do it if you have an Android phone lying around at home.

OK, so, I have gotten the CID of the card using the above method, gone to the site, gotten my goldcard image sent, then using PSAS to write the goldimage file to the card (as I don't have a android phone) which is says was succesful, only thing is I can't copy the rom onto it as the card is not not being detected as formatted.

just remember one thing : radio numbers don't say anything on HTC (higher numbers don't mean newer )
also locations can get different radios .

I wouldnt bother mate, I have a O2 HD7 and flashed the European ROM, and have now gone back to O2 ROM.
The keyboard is set to US layout, and can only be changed to a couple of other languages, which means characters like £ are missing and thus quite an annoyance really.
I didnt spot any other things but I dont understand why HTC Europe ROM would be like this, I'd assume this would be what you'd get on a unbranded model straight from somewhere like Expansys but its not the case according to ansar - take a look at the last couple of pages of this thread for more information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888747&page=5
Cheers
Not so much bothered about the missing £ Symbol, and to be honest I think I'm actually gonna flash the Telstra ROM and then the Europe Radio package like in point number 8 on his instructions which will let me play with this interesting stuff that comes with that ROM, whilst still having a European radio set.
Oh, and I agree, I don't see why all english roms would not have a US Keyboard & UK Keyboard layout. Seems like common sense to me. Maybe not lol ........
Ok, I've got no idea in what format your goldcard generator would like its CID or SD card serial number, but I tried all kinds of common notations of printed and embedded serial numbers which always gave me a "please enter a valid cid".

[SOLVED] Help: WP7 won't create a partition on my SD card.

I am trying to dual boot WP7 NAND and Android SD...
I am following the instructions this YouTube Video: HTC HD2 Partition a micro sd card to install Android and WP7 in the same card but I am stuck on the second part where you have to reset your phone and insert your SD card in the reader to see the WP7 partitions.
When ever I reset WP7, insert SD in reader, and open Partition Master, It only shows 200MB, it doesn't show the unallocated partition. Basically, when I insert the SD card, I only see One Partition, instead of Two partitions (fat 16 and unformatted)
Can someone please explain to me how I can solve this problem?
(I am using ScanDisk 8 GB class 2 sd card.)
PS: I have tried to search this forum extensively, but I couldn't find any answers (I am not sure what other search term to use at this point.)
UPDATE: If you are having problems seeing the WP7 SD partition on your computer, don't use an SD adapter with the built-in card reader on your PC or Laptop, use an external SDHC card reader instead. You can buy one on eBay for like 5 bucks or less, OR you could get one at your local electronics/hardware store for no more than $15.

So you do have 200meg AND Unformatted partitions ??
@1:22 it shows the Unformatted Partition being deleted which means it becomes unallocated..
You need to delete the Unformatted partition..
Then continue on with video..
i assume your using the tutorial from [REF] Tutorial: How to partition sd card to run wp7 and android from same sd card
and following the Third Method.
If you dont see an Unformatted Partition -(no idea why you shouldn't - if it an 8GB card there has to be something beyond the 200meg partition) i'd re-format the entire SD...and start again.
I have reformatted my SD card several times, using (SD formatter), but I keep getting the same results.
Like I said, I am only getting One Partition and that is the 200MB partition on my SD card, whenever I flash WP7 (even when I reset WP7, I get the same thing.) -- I am sure that I followed the instructions correctly, well, up to the point where I got stuck.
If anyone have any other ideas, please share...

Ok, so after a fresh format and before trying wp7 re-install you're getting an 8GB sd card right?
If yes - start again by reseting phone in wp7 with your sd card installed. (settings/about/reset your phone)
let it reboot back into wp7.
goto settings/about
What size do you see under:
Total Storage
It should list 7.xxGB (for your 8GB Sd)
If it doesn't its more than likely that you have an sd card not compatiable for wp7 sorry.
OK, now I see
Total storage: 7.20 GB
Available storage: 6.82 GB
Is this normal?

definitely - and a good sign.
do you have easeus partition installed on your pc, if not install it.
re-set your phone again and stop at the MAGLDR screen. (Hold Power button down)
remove SD and load into PC.
Open easeus partition.
You will see a 200Meg partition and a Unformatted partition....
Continue with Tutorial.
Sorry, for the late responses...I appreciate your patience.
OK, I just reset the phone again, and I have inserted my SD into my PC, and loaded easeus partition; BUT soon as I insert the SD, I get windows message that I need to format the disk in drive __: before I can use it.
Now, in easeus partition, all I see is one unallocated 200MB partition (logical)
Any idea what's going on here?

Well, at the very least that partition should be Primary and not logical...
sounds like a faulty sd card
In EaseUs partition delete all partitions under the sd list. (in pic below i'd delete all 4 partitions shown)
ie in your case the 200Meg and anything else listed (but only for the sd) dont want you deleting your windows OS.
Apply changes so you have one 8GB block of unallocated space and then try re-formating the sd card back to origional 8GB FAT32.
Apply changes...
remove and re-insert into PC, check and make sure windows doesn't report errors.
dump a few files onto the sd and try reading them. (pics or movie)
Providing all good to this stage, repeat re-set phone process..
reboot into wp7 and check /settings/about.... if 7.xxGB Total Storage, remove sd and check with windows... if errors like you just stated i very much suspect a faulty sd card...
If you can take a screen shot (sniping tool in windows 7) of the sd card listing the Disk it would help

Means you'll have to swap them out every time you want to change OS.. but it should work...
As WP7 loads into NAND you'll have to load an Android built that is SD MAGLDR compatible.
Hey, Canterbury
I found the problem and solution. The problem was with the built in card reader in my laptop. I guess it isn't powerful enough to read the WP7 partition or something; but anyways I found a solution. I used an external USB SDHC card reader to view the files on my SD instead. So now I can see all partitions on the SD
Thanks anyways for trying to help me. I really appreciate it.

Well actually, I have another problem...I don't have wp7 and android goodness; because I can't get DarkStone SuperRAM 1.5 to work with WP7, or any other build for that matter.
Do you have any build suggestions, or general ideas, about this issue?

I firstly assume your on one SD running WP7, and have partitioned your sd for android.
i use Cope's SD GB-CM7
As your using MAGLDR to boot, (instead of running wm6.5 and executing haret.exe) you MUST use an SD Android build that can support MAGLDR usually using a modified rootfs.img and startup.txt files. (Usually you'll have to copy and replace the two files manually)
Ref here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913964 regarding whats going on. If your a linux buff, the instructions may be of use, but further down the page is what you need...
Yeah, you know what? I tired Cope's SD GB-CM7, but GPS doesn't seem to work, and I really need that to work. It's a good build, but I want to be able to have the full android experience via DarkStone's SuperRAM froyo 1.5. So far, I have only been able to boot DS SR Froyo, but then it freezes and you can't do anything else. I guess I'll have to keep searching for clues, or I'll have to go back to dual booting WM/Android
