3.2 Update arrive to Puerto Rico (USA) - Acer Iconia A500

hi guys
Recently like today in turn on my Iconia and guess what? updates arrive but i have a question i have 3.1 rooted but i want to know what its the diference beteewn each and other... if had root? changes? or if i have to wait to do the update??
sorry for my bad english!!

Don't apologize about your English.
Spanish is now the # 1 language in the USA and you are a citizen.
I wish I knew Spanish as well as you know English.

Thanks--
Anyone can help?

As far as I understand it, the 3.2 update is mostly under the hood improvements, with the exception of the resizing feature for those apps that aren't displayed full screen. I would think hard about updating though since we don't have root for the 3.2 yet. I haven't received the update here in the states yet so I haven't had to decide. I'm hoping that by the time I get the ota update someone has figured out how to root 3.2. Hope that helps.

If you do this update you will need to root first, and you will lose root on 3.2.
Still no root for 3.2.

You need to root it first, install Clockwork Mod Recovery, and install a custom rom based on the acer 3.2 update. Im currently running one that's basically the stock rom with root, and works well. Y yo tambn soy de Puerto Rico, so te puedes comunicar en confianza.

[Q] Is it possible or not?

Hello,
Im new to this forum and I have a question.
Is it possible to root with 2.2?
Some say its possible and some say its not ready yet. So it was very unclear to me.
I recently bought a Wildfire and updated directly to 2.2 and then I found about rooting.
If it isnt possible yet, how far are they with the process.
(sorry for my bad English, I'm from Holland)
Thanks!
It is not possible to root 2.2 yet. Some people say some progress is being made, but, there is no specific release date. It will be released when it is ready, you will just have to wait till then.

[Q] Downgrade from 3.2 to 3.1 A500

Hi,
I originally had 3.1 on my device with the A500 OTA firmware, it was rooted originally. I then updated to the 7.something 3.2 OTA for the A500. I wanted to downgrade so I tried installing a lower one using the sd card method. Well needless to say it didn't take and the tablet wouldn't boot. So I tried basically all of the roms on the ROM list page. None of them worked except the A501 3.2 version 4.something. This one I can't root either. I'm guessing it isn't possible get root at this point until a root hack becomes available to install clockworkmod?
Also will running a lower version number system for the A501 cause problems on the A500?
Thanks in advance!
If you look at the ROM list page there's now a couple of 3.2 updates for the A500, if you flash one of those you'll at least be back on the correct firmware for your device. Unfortunately I have yet to find any way to either downgrade to 3.1 or to get root on 3.2 ... so for now I think you're stuck on 3.2 without root.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone with better knowledge of such things than I do will have a solution for 3.2 root sometime soon!
Go to this thread and follow its instruction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878

Those instructions do not work for downgrading from 3.2 to 3.1 the tablet will be left un-bootable.
You can however use those instructions to upgrade to 3.2 from 3.1
solution
vas sur ce lien, c'est la seule solution pour le moment je crois! :

Merci beaucoup. j'espere que ca functionne avec mon a500.
The 3.2 OTA update uses a different boot loader. If you perform the Acer update, you are stuck and loose root until someone cracks the new boot loader. Who knows how long that will be, but hopefully soon. Once you get root access back, install clockworks and do a full backup before you ever do another update so you can always restore your old ROM if something like that happens again.
It happened to dozens of people on this Forum. I am Glad I read about it before it happened to me. I upgraded to 3.2 by flashing Taboonay 2.1 which used a different boot loader.
Good luck. I hope they crack it soon.
Edit: Actually, someone started a post with instructions on downgrading and getting root back if you already did the OTA update to 3.2. Look at the thread "Root your A500 after 3.2 OTA update and losing root.."
The link provided ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227 ) is successful in downgrading. Thanks once again.
You might want to check this method first. It uses an official Acer 3.0.1 update with an earlier bootloader (compatible with CWM/itsmagic), that you can root.
This is likely less destructive than rebuilding the ROM from scratch using nvflash.

Guys, apparently Motorola has abandoned Xoom in Brazil, it still in version 3.1 and Motorola Brazil is evaluating the possibility to upgrade to 3.2. I wonder if i can use the U.S. ROM and receive the OTA updates. Thank you!

You can change your rom to US: http://ivansotof.com/2011/05/flash-xoom-us-firmware
Aí, não encontrei mais o tópico aqui, já troquei alguns e funcionou de boa. Qualquer coisa, manda uma mp.
For the brazilian wifi only xoom it's Ok to flash the US rom, but for the 3G version you must use the European version (mz601). I have on my Vivo 3g (mz605) the european tiamat honeycomb for the mz601, with 3g working, and the American EOS ICS, ( no 3G). The EOS team is cooking an ICS for the european/asian/south american xooms. Sounds like it will be released soon.

seems like you made a miss here, but root the transformer and download the official CWM of the FOTA Then you will get ics!
But beware ics seems a bit slow and laggy at the moment :/

You probably need to download the US version from asus downloads and manually update to that. That should solve your problems as the system will only recognize the original firmware locations.

i didn't say it was the only way, as you do have an US tab and you updated to WW i don't seem why it don't give you an FOTA update as its same tab just some other languages *Mostly* but what do i know its nothing i can do, and i think your tab is seen as US tab still, if your using WW so US hasn't yet got their update, but soon they will i guess,
Unfortunately the update system will only recognize the original firmware.... so if your tab as originally US then you update to TW it will not accept the update ( i tried when the TW update came out) it doesnt matter where you are. I have a WW but i bought it in canada and am now in indonesia so i figured why not try the TW and see if i get the update. It failed but when i went to WW it came up instantly.
Thanks guys!so,now I try to update manually to 8.6.5.21-20111216 US?
I had the same issue, first had an US version but after unroot I've flashed
the WW version and apparently these aren't scheduled for update yet, didn't get update notifications for ICS .
So what i did was return to the original US stock version and did this with NVFLash
after the US firmware was loaded it went through all the updates sequentially and ended with ICS = me a Happy TF owner
Had the same problem. Then i've rooted the TF and flashed the root version.
Very hppy now, everything is fine now.

For the ppl that flashed back to stock where did you get the ROM from? I did the same (came from Revolver ROM) and flashed back to stock (US version) but no updates showing.
You can get all the regional versions of Asus stock firmware from the asus download site
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download
Just choose the Region that you originally had WW or US or whatever
The update will only work for the original firmware region because it is tied to your serial number in the ASUS database or something like that.
Edit: if you have CWM (custom recovery) get one of these:
Revolver: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518768
Android Revolution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245892
For stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658 (I suggest the full rom not the upgrade Option B)

Why do u want to get back to stock? I came from revolver and flashed the root ics without any problems. So smooth and fast, awesome...

Thanks everyone for your help. I was able to finialy get ICS update FOTA. For those who are still having issues here is what I did:
-Started with rooted TF running Revolver ROM
-NVFlashed to a stock ROM (the flash should have removed root and CWM I'm told)
-Noticed my TF still did not see any update, stock ROM I flashed was 3.1 older stock ROM and may be part of the reason it would not update (not totally sure the reasons)
-Went to Asus official download site and D/L the US firmware update
-Unzipped that file on a Micro SD card (root directory)
-Put Micro SD card into my running (older) stock TF and the triangle popped up on the task bar saying there was an update, tap that and let it update.
-now was updated to the latest stock Asus 3.2 ROM and checked updates..it found that i needed an update and d/l ICS!!
May be an easier way to get ICS, but for me I was hearing issues others had using some of the prepared ICS ROMs on here vs. letting the TF FOTA update.
So far so good!

Seems that Motorola has finally decided to update the Xoom tablets in UK to ICS... Sooo Happy!!
motoask.com
I just reflashed my MZ601 to stock to try and get the OTA.
I have done all the honeycomb OTA now, but the ICS OTA still isn't available.
Any ideas?

No i flashed my wifi xoom to the europe 3.1 the other day and updated to 4.0.4 with the bootloader unlocked
Arrrrgggghhhh why am I not getting it!
Please Delete.
