To everyone working on root..

I hate to let you down, this is not related to rooting the phone.
I'm not a developer. The most advanced code I've written was in my high school computer science course in Pascal. I've used C++ before, but never got anywhere.
You probably don't realize what you're doing requires an amazing amount of skill and mental aptitude. Its something second-hand almost to you developers, but some of us even have a hard time understanding step-by-step instructions. The only way most of us can even begin to contribute is by money, but unfortunately, I can't afford to donate to supply you a source of income, so I know you are mainly doing this for yourself, and then sharing it with others to showcase your ability.
Honestly and wholly from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for everything you do for us. I know this is probably unnecessary motivation as you're probably working on rooting right now, but really your hard work is truly admired.
THANK YOU and THANK YOU.
I hope everyone else who sees this and can offer no other means of gratitude will add to this post in support of our developers.

I've just completed my first year of college for Software Engineering, and it can be frustrating enough trying to find other ways to solve a problem when all the ideas you had didnt work. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to work on rooting a phone.
I'm pretty sure the dev's enjoy a thank you every now and then. I would imagine its nice getting some appreciation inbetween all the complaints that the phone isn't rooted yet and that it need to be asap.

open source does not mean you can go taking others people work and passing it off as your own... but I guess since you did one a2sd script that everyone used you feel it was right to take 95% of another rom and relabel it your own?
A simple credit would of taken care of this whole mess and kept everyone of your threads from being locked. It's not hard to tell others that YOU did not do everything in YOUR rom, but you choose to say you don't work with team douche but you sure are quick to take from them..
Let's make sure we are comparing apples to apples here King..

Well...I don't want to be an a-hole but I did find a file posted by firerat in your Froyo2G1 ROM...and...well....it doesn't really agree with your statement...as far as I can tell but there could be other forces at hand here <_< >_> that are trying to demolish your rep. I don't know...Just my .02$

Gotta love the internet, where the rule of law means ****. Anyone ever heard of innocent until proven guilty?
Heck, Klick hasn't even been formally notified by the XDA staff as to why his threads are locked, never mind a formal accusation. Yet it seems the community has already made it's decision, with pitchforks and torches in hand.
I'm sorry, but what a crock! If any of you were accused of an offense, i'm sure you'd all want the benefit of the doubt, and a fair hearing before being tarred and feathered!
I strongly encourage the XDA staff to contact Klick directly in regards to this issue, and to make a public statement. Anything less constitutes a witchhunt, and I for one do not want to sit idly by and watch that unfold!

i did post a comment on your thread asking you to pm me but you never did and i got impatient and hyped up about things and i just rushed things and posted finished stable builds of your rom without your permission thinking things would be okay if i emphisized 3x on the thread i didn't do anything but finish your rom all credit goes to you for all other work. but again i went about things the wrong way i wasn't trying to take full credit for your rom i thought i made that clear in the first post but i guess saying it 3x still isn't the right way to go about things, glad to see we're working things out (btw everyone check out the title of his thread now ) for the better now bro! so i'd like to say this publicly, SORRY FOR USING YOUR ROM WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION LIQUID! no i asked to take down jasonmaloney's build and my build (two seperate things) b/c we both posted our build's on liquid's thread without his permission.....which was a big no no....but i made things worse by making a seperate thread....again sorry liquid. so there was no need to credit jasonmaloney, laie i know i messed up big time smh stupid move on my part

i said in my rom's thread that it was based of nfx rom and i gave him credit, i said what i did. i didn't do what i did with liquid's rom, two completely different things... il Duce ik i screwed up with this rom and again i won't be making any mess ups like this again (me = thinking before my actions from now on xda) sorry

My rom (I say that very loosely) is based on nfx, but only with full permission from nfinite and on popular request. Even further I credited (with permission ) anyone who helped in testing or debugging, and that is the proper thing to do.

Which means that it is my task and my right to put up the final update to my own ROM, not have someone else do it without even letting me know beforehand or asking me, and then posting my exact thread over again instead of PMing me the link to add it in the OP, and then telling me after the fact.
Kifno has already got in touch with me and we're working it out, you guys can relax now.

again we talked things out and i'm sorry bro. and yes i may just be improving others work (the espreeso 2.1 rom i posted) and changing things, i never took full credit actually most of it goes to nfx b/c everyday i wake up he has a pm in my inbox helping me out with the espresso 2.1 rom, it wouldn't be where it is at without his help. only thing i can take full credit for is my build.prop's thats the only thing i actually did from my own work as for the espresso 2.1 rom that was from the help of many other members on this site, i never took full credit for that rom. i use the term my rom, when i refer to the espresso 2.1 rom, b/c i changed it, not b/c i developed it from scratch and did everything to it on my own, i'm not a super-dev yet lol. i'm just improving other's work and learning along the way and giving them credit and asking permission along the way from now on until i know enough to make something of my own again (besides text files lol) that will be of great help to the community....but for now i'm focuses on improving my rom (AGAIN IT ISN'T COMPLETELY MY ROM MANY OTHERS HELPED ME ALONG THE WAY) and helping others with their work for the hero and problems....first person on the list....liquid!!!!!! (we're pming each other now folks working this out for the better so its alright)

You know what man, you're a smark kid, you just take things a bit fast.
You'll grow to understand what it means to command respect here, and I'm sure you'll earn it from everyone. This place is bursting with ideas and creativity, but just PM ROM devs in the future. Every ROM dev needs help, there's no denying that. Sometimes the help you have to offer isn't enough or isn't to their preference, but there's never any harm in PMing to find out.
As far as my ROM goes, with your help, we'll finish this up and finally put an end to all this over exaggerated madness.

Wow man great job kifno. It's tough to own up in the face of so many people watching this, you're really just a good person beyond the scope of these forums. I'm proud to call you a fellow human being. I've been watching this escalate and deescalate and I must say it's been a roller coaster ride. I must say some people have been a bit harsher than they should have, but it's understandable when looked at from a different perspective. Kudos to you again.

And I'm not a grammar freak lol I don't treat my post as essays I just type what comes to mind lol that's why my paragraph structure and grammar look bad on the forums just like this very long run on sentence but really constantly working, and school, and keeping 5 roms (mine and ls 4 builds) and my tweak up to date with fixes and new tweaks and optimizations is very time consuming and hard to fit all in one day lol but I just want to help the community and I plan on doing that the right way, LESSON LEARNED HERE, BTW look out for kifno & ls projects in the future

In the aftermath of all this stuff, I just want to say that truly I appreciate ALL the hard work that you devs put into keeping our Heroes from becoming paperweights. I think this post RIGHT here is the reason that development for the epic dwindles and falters so often. People "packaging" crap and everyone doing the actual work getting shuffled off to the side because it's a new thread with a minor change.
Why bother posting and releasing anything else in the epic forums if someone is going to do absolutely no work other than flashing it and ripping the dd's and putting it in a "new rom" with a different picture.
Roddericks post about CW is all we need this is a redundant and useless thread.
Anonymous rom is another useless thread since it's entirely chris4gs' rom with a different picture.
The epic community doesnt deserve the dev's it has when it's got people willing to essentially change a "letter" and call it something else.

Been a member here several months now, still can't post in any of the dev forums. Why? Because I would rather read and find my issue & fix it. 40 pages of posts, ok I read them.
Understand the frustration of repeat questions? Yes I do. Lots of 'em, what a pain in the a$$... think my fav was the last page or two of Shift-Deck, someone lookin for the Gapps dl when it was posted right above their own post, classic. Wouldn't u know, 6 posts later, some1 else is lookin for d same damn thing, fun!

Hey... is there any way XDA could implement a Read Count?? That'd be awesome, make it so you have to have actually READ the forum before you can post in Development.

I see your fustration but honestly 10 posts in 3 other sections is not hard at all.
When I joined XDA I already had a really good hold on an Android\Linux enviroment. but i still had to go through the same thing so what I did was post in the general section helping people who didnt have a strong grasp on android
I would also post on the themes and apps section just saying thanks for a couple really good themes or mods and before you know it wala i can post in the development section.
and unless you made cooked something up right off the bat when joining XDA then what is the huge rush to get there? Its not like your not allowed to download what other devs have made or hit that thanks button?
the 10 post rule is meant for people to grasp how the threads work so people dont post questions on the development forum even if the question has to do with "development" and thats just an example.
we all see where your coming from because we were there but try to understand why the rules are there in the first place.

i was just like you. i join in march but just got my 10 post like 3 or 4 days ago. i just read and all my answer were usually answered for me but now that i'm actually active its really easy to raise your post account and plus the members here in the Shift section are really friendly so you don't have to worry about getting flamed unless you ask about gingerbread perma root

I can only imagine the look on devs faces when away from a release thread for a few days, come back to 10 questions about something he already answered 1 page back or even on the POST ABOVE THEM!

Definitely see where ur coming from & understand the reasoning, just wish there was an express route. Some kind of act for those of us that can figure it out quicker... not that I am "special"...
If anything, the rules should be more strict, damn it is frustrating reading the same thing over & over through 50 pages.
Just wish I could post a question or comment that hasn't been addressed in the last 50 pages.

smh. please inside of the general section which this thread is in look for a thread that says something about temp-root it will tell you how. z4root doesn't work with gingerbread.... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE PLEASE SCROLL DOWN A FEW INCHES AND MAYBE YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT ROOTING WITH BE ANSWER! i'm seriously reconsidering how on earth the human race has made it this far in life. i'm gonna go cry now :'(

Add yourself to the amon recovery list. That's another unless you already did lol. Too lazy to look. Or go to a ota 2.3 thread and ask how much longer, if you bump each one you will be well over 10 haha

Never join anything just to join . It's a different type of recovery than what we currently have for the Shift. IMO Better . You should look at what it has to offer if you get a chance.
