Just pre-ordered mine today. I hope I didn't mess up. Is SIM FREE/UNLOCKED the same thing as UNLOCKED ?? I am intending to use this on T-Mobile in the USA.
HSPA+ 21Mbps 850/900/1900/2100
EDGE/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900
Maybe I should have called T-Mobile first but I hate talking to them. I don't care if it is 3G or 4G or Edge .. As long as it works on T-Mobile.

Its a neat device... Just a bit to much of a device for me to consider my everyday phone. And I mean that in a size way not spec.
For me, the eVo 4g is just about as big as I would go for something I would be carrying in my front pocket.

Yes it is with LTE, but as far as I'm aware they won't have a regular 3G GSM network to backup their LTE. So, I'd expect Verizon LTE devices to have a SIM card, but outside of LTE coverage they will drop back to Verizons CDMA network.
Your Tab is neither a CDMA nor an LTE device, so won't work with any of Verizons networks.

buying a european tmobile galaxy tab

hi everyone, im buying a tmobile galaxy tab, the euro model, i want the phone and 3g to work..
i have a g2 right now and plan on using my tmobile sim[has data/voice]
will i be able to use the tab as a phone and have 3g with my sim? sorry if theres a thread on this but ive google searched and xda searched and cant find my answer.. thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896932
I followed the above link to get my G1 T-Mobile SIM working on my tab.
As far as buying a euro-based tab to get 3g and phone usage, I don't think that will work. I will assume you are in the States. And from what I understand, it has to do with the technology in the infrastructure used in the States.
Buying a euro-based tab will do the same as buying a us-based tab and flashing a euro-based rom (if you are in the States). Your phone will only work over 2g. It really isn't a big deal, just grab Roto's modem switcher.
Euro tmob <> US tmob. U wont get us tmob 3g

thank you. is this something that can be a possibility in the future[voice,3g,euro tab]?? i will install the modem switcher when im done putting this new rom on.. edge is pretty horrible but the phone calling is cool..
also if i have the modem switched to 3g on, will people be able to still call me ??
Anything is possible with open-source. Besides, look at how much has been accomplished in the short amount of time since the tabs release. I am just happy with the nice roms developed so far and the fact we can talk. Give it some time.
When you are on 3g, the phone functionality is basically dead. With that being said, Roto's modemswitcher is a nice little script.
Euro Tab can not be used with Tmobile 3G network....even with 3G only....it will only does 2G+Voice
I have one, and I am regret having it......no way to turn on the band frequencies of 1700 and 2100 together....for a moment I thought I was successfully did 1700 and 2100.....but no, I did not......when I went into detail of the modem, it said (900 mhz band) not 1700...
You can never get 1700 on any Samsung Tab beside the Tmobile one. I think I am switching to ATT real soon
3g works great for me thu..im even getting h also..just got to flash to overcomes kernel and rom den use roto..my tab is def international my charger is weird as hell lol(euro plug)

After Everything I have tried. I believe that your Tab is a Tmobile Tab.....If it is, It will say Tmobile in the front and the back of the Tab....also the model is
SGH T849
The European one is the Model of GT-P1000....and there is no Mark of Tmobile or any Carriers in it....You must have been mistaken.....Even Rotohammer Confirmed that the European Is not Capable of Tmobile 3G....or Please send me your pictures ?
For your confirmation on Rotohammer saying that ...here

Your device saying GT-P1000 is because u installed the Rom of GT-P1000 to enable 2G+voice. Tmobile on the back is the evidence of the Tab being from Tmobile
Samsung made it Exclusively for Tmobile with a special Tmobile Radio Amplifier.......The international version is what I have now......it Can not be on Tmobile 3G network

Update: Sure enough, Mobilicity is also onboard, which along with Wind Mobile makes it pretty clear that T-Mobile-friendly AWS frequencies are baked in.
We pretty much knew it is coming to the states. The question is when. Hopefully not much will be changed.

Yup. The real question is the US gonna get the nerfed version. I want no part of that.
So is it going to be like the Galaxy Nexus where you could buy the Canadian version which was the same phone.. Will the Canadian phone be same but with the 1700 band or will there b differences?
---
To each their own.
I have not read anywhere that the international version, i9300, is a pentaband HSDPA phone. Also, GSMArena has it listed as a quad band so it will not work on T-Mobiles 4G network. It looks like if/when it does come to T-Mo, it will need to be a customized version.
Prob a customized Canadian version...
The good news is that Tmo users do not need to wait another 6 months till the SGS III comes out in Tmo
Any idea on whether this will have the same processor as the international version?
I'm betting it will have a s4 processor. I hope I'm wrong....

Mobilicity doesn't have LTE. we just have wait and see, what they do to the phone.
This just means a custom aws version will also be released. Doesn't look like the international version has T-Mobile hspa. So it will probably not come with the exynos CPU etc.

what's wrong with the S4 Qualcomn?
it;s as beefy as any of the new SOC, even faster than the nVidia Tegra
I personally would like the GSM NA variants to be as close to the international version as possible. Mostly because of the ease of porting custom ROMs. And I really do like my GT-I9100's physical home button. Hope that makes it over, but I doubt it (the NA models never had it, so getting one on the GS3 will break the design/UI continuity).
so how does one go about getting Mobilicity or wind mobile's gs3? bestbuy.ca doesnt ship outside of Canada. some carrier's website dont let you buy phone @ full price.

daily steals has xooms for cheap today

The story about the fighting twins frightens me, is that their xoom for sale?
US buyers: I'd think twice about buying this as it's an MZ601 UMTS 3G model...this means that the software is created and updated by Motorola and is not the stock Honeycomb firmware from Google that you find on the US WiFi and Verizon 3/4G models.
That said, if you're OK with flashing custom ROMs on it or waiting for Motorola to eventually upgrade it to their own version of ICS, then this is a steal. Plus, you can use it on AT&T or T-Mobile in the USA.

Specs say: GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Would that then run on TMob's HSPA+ ( since the 1900 band is the same ( http://goo.gl/JQjoz )? Or only Edge?

Oh good point...it looks like it would only support AT&T as it's missing 1700 and appears to be missing 2100 (though that may be an oversight).

Well, that's the question. Googling turns up some unlocked GSM iPhone users suddenly getting 3G speeds when it should be Edge only.
But I don't know if that was just testing (as the articles are 5 months old) or if the 1900 band now has real 3G speeds, not just their 1700/2100 combined like before.
Nice! Just bought the WiFi only version for $239
Time to start researching ROMs!

i bought one too. should be here after the holiday hopefully. i would've did next day shipping but they didn't offer it.

[Q] Not getting 4G speed on iWireless (Tmobile affiliate) using ATT SGS4

Yesterday I tried to switch to iWireless (a Tmobile Affiliate in Iowa) and to my surprise I was getting Edge connection from them on my unlocked ATT Galaxy S4!
I was aware about ATT iPhone working on edge speed if we use under tmobile but samsung too?
I tried the free method available on this forum to unlock the phone. Should I request a full unlock from ATT or this is (edge speed on iWireless-Tmobile) what I should be expecting even though I get full unlock from ATT (if the method I used is not unlocking the phone fully).

Unfortunately, for 4G, iWireless uses the AWS Spectrum (1700/2100) which the Galaxy S4 doesn't support. Even the T-Mobile version doesn't due to the switch to the 1900 frequency.
Next time if you want 4G on your phone, look at the Tech Specs and make sure under UMTS it says 1700/2100. If you want 4G, your phone HAS to support that frequency.

If I'm not mistaken the MF3 update unlocks that freq. I'm pretty sure I saw in some release notes on either the MF3 or the one before that unlocked that.
