Franco kernel on stock rom - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Is it poosible to flash Franco kernel while using stock rom? I know it isn't designed to work, but what would happen if I flashed with stock rom?
Will anything from the kernel work. Are there bad consequences?
I really like what the kernel offers but the small bugs inthe custom roms keeps me using stock

I think that is only for oxygen, miui and cm7 roms, so probably the device will stuck at boot screen if you put it on stock rom.

[Q] Cyanogen & Kernals

Newb question that I couldn't find the answer to.
Since CyanogenMod is AOSP and Stock is Sense:
Does the current version of CyanogenMod (v7.x) download files contain changes to the kernal?
If not, will Cyanogen v7.x run stable with the Stock HTC kernal?
I want to try out Cyanogen v7 but due to work I need to be able to flip back to Stock rooted for stability if needed. I just want to know if I'll need to worry about flashing the kernal too when flipping back and forth.
Thanks....
Any ROM comes packaged with an appropriate kernel once flashed. There are alternatives but the stock Cyanogen kernel is pretty boss on its own.
Yes cm7 contains its own aosp kernel.
No sense kernels will not work on aosp roms.
Every rom comes with its correct kernel.no need to flash one unless you want to.

Thanks for the reply.
Will be giving the latest cyanogen RC a try tonight.
And, as I just read, the Nand backup covers the kernal, I wont have to worry about separatly flashing the kernal back to stock if I need to restore.
Somewhere I got the idea that the ROM and Kernal were separate flashes.
Thanks....
Not sure about anyone else, but cyanogenmod included kernel for me has been pretty much 100% stable for me. I didn't get any restarts until I started flashing other kernals and some mods.

What's the most vanilla ICS rom for Note?

Hello,
How are you?
I am a bit tired of Touchwiz and some lag on the phone, so I would like to switch ROMS.
So, I was wondering what is the most pure vanilla ICS 4.0.4 ROM for the Note, wich is stable and has the fewest know issues?
I am sorry for this thread, but there are so many roms developed that it is really hard to choose.
CHeers and thanks!

Well, Paranoid Android is a fantastic ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Note, as it offers a near-ICS experience that allows for both tablet and phone modes. Try it out!

Thank you for the suggestion.
Do I need to flash a modded kernel for that rom?
Or does it work stable and fast with stock GB kernel?
Cheers!

For an ICS ROM you need to use an ICS kernel. But Paranoid comes packaged with the kernel. By the sound of it you are on GB at the moment. If it's already rooted, do a full wipe then flash Paranoid and the GApps package from the same thread.
If you are already on ICS, do not do full wipe until you have read up on how to do it.

Any downsides to this ROM?
I am currently on stock Note, with ICS 4.0.3 and stock kernel. Not rooted.
Would a kernel like Speedmod work better with the nightly rom? Or is a stock GB kernel better?
Whichever rom I choose, I need to use PC Odin to revert to GB before flashing anything, right?
Cheers and thanks!
Why would anyone use cm9 If Paranoid Android is the same with much more features..
You cant use any tw kernels like speedmod. Cm9 need cm9 kernels
can i install Paranoid Android from ICS through Abyss 4.2 kernel ?
i want the safe steps to install ...........

So I cannot use modded kernels with Paranoid?
So the best way would be PC Odin to stock GB, full wipe then install Paranoid?
Would that give the best performance?
Cheers!
You can install it from ics if you want.
download Abyss Kernel 4.2
copy Kernel and PA Rom and Gapps Files to your internal SDCard
boot into Recovery
Flash Abyss Kernel 4.2
boot back in Recovery (to find under "advanced")
Factory Reset
Wipe Dalvik Cache (under "advanced")
Flash PA Rom
Flash GAPPS
reboot system

You can use modded kernels with PA, but only cm based ones like AniDroid/bbq etc.. and not the touchwiz ones like speedmod/franco.
To install, follow what the post above says, or as you mentioned use Odin to go back to gb, root/install cwm, full wipe then install Paranoid Android.

As stated above cm9 only uses cm9 based kernel, you don't have to worry about that, it will install itself when you flash the ROM.

Because not everyone like tablet mod, I've tried PA but returned to cm9 because the phone UI is more suitable for the note .
And then there is the faster update cycle of cm9.

So if I go with CM9 nightly it will also install the kernel when i flash the Rom?

Just my two cents: I found PA to be super buggy in comparison to CM9, the boot splash didn't fit the screen and the UI lagged a lot more, some of the apps were great in tablet mode, but CM9 feels overall far more suited to the Note.

If I install a custom Rom, either PA or CM9, can the note be reverted back to full stock? Recovery, kernel and Rom?
I am on stock is 4.0.3. What's the best procedure to install CM9 nightly?
Cheers

If you want a true Vanilla experience install the 4.04 Stock Rom, you will find the there are now a lot of people using it, it is stable, fast and the battery life has improved. There is a large difference between 4.03 and 4.04 official ROMS.
I have been using it since it came out and I find that it beats everything else I have tried. On the down side the 4.04 kernel still contains the EMMC Bug so I cannot do a full wipe without reverting back to GB.

I have tried both .. KingDroid 5.1 which is based on 4.0.4 and AOSP like Paranoid Android
And what I felt is that AOSP is way smoother and faster than stock roms

In the description it says "CM & PA Roms only!" stock is not considered CM or PA.. You have to flash a CM or PA ROM in order for the kernel to work. Like the other user above said, You will end up in a bootloop and you'll never get your phone to boot up with that kernel on stock. Flash either a Cyanogen Mod (CM) or Paranoid Android (PA) ROM first and then you can use that kernel.

Can someone port Asus' stock kernel for CM12.1/RR based ROMs ?

As the title says. I switched to a custom stock ROM and started using the stock kernel with it, the stock kernel is so smooth, I fell in love with it. The performance wasn't the same in RR ROM. It provides the same battery backup as other kernels I have used..including quanganh's, X AnwarMov's and BORETS24's custom stock kernel. Can someone port the stock kernel for CM based ROMs ? Or is tank0412's custom kernel is what I'm asking for ?
Try this:
It a stock kernel which was ported to CM12.1/RR:
