Well this is it guys. Prof that Honeycomb doesn`t have hardware requirements.
Does not need a dual procesor to run. In fact Spacemoose1 made something for us, to bad it didn`t finish, but he promise to come back with something new and good.

Wait has spacemoose gone back to doing HC for the tab? Last time I heard he abandoned the project. Or is there something I'm missing?

He said about a month ago that he is working for porting or makeing working Honeycomb 3.2 for GTab`s, becouse has less to work do to suporting 7" screens that 3.2 brings. But i didn`t hear nothing then and i`m not shure if he abandon the project or is involve in others to and doesn`t have time.
I thank him even if he abandon the project becouse he was the only one that has macking working and i`ve tested on my Tab.
Pray to do another port of 3.2

That way you wont feel stupid after a bunch of people tell you it has already been posted...in January.
last i heard HC was abandoned because of every1 nagging the devs about it. but that was for the cdma version. maybe we'll have better luck with the gsm devs.
Judging by what was said at google IO ice cream sandwich (ics for the puropose of this) is going to replace honeycomb and gingerbread and it wouldn't surprise me if cm8 (or whatever it is) is based on ics which may come to the galaxy tab
NOTE: these are presumptions which may not be correct so don't quote me on this!!
Wow really!? Totally amazing thanks for posting guy!
This is great
I just updated the GT to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and its working much better now
wonder what to expect from the Tab with honeycomb
Raps
Is this even worth doing though, Its not stable?
I would wait for a future more stable version, can anybody else comment?
mmk to clear up a bit of stuff here Spacemose1 is no longer doing HC no 3.0 not even 3.2 no questions asked so dont bother him about it. CDMA version was picked up by spacemoose1's partner in crime Oldmacnut (self proclaimed Very Green Developer) hes doing his best with what hes got. Recently there was alot of whinning and crying about HC so he intended to shut the project down for good
Long story short cooler heads prevail and he decided to pick up on HC again. On 10/1/2011 HC for CDMA only due to lack of a gsm tablet was taken from Alpha to Beta Status offering a "possible 3g fix" maybe more but the zip file is corrupt so a hemidall file's are supposed to drop for us soon.
So, does the honeycomp can run on Samsung Galaxy tab of 7 inches?
Do you know a site where you can download all Honeycomp roms from all the world?
Do you know a guide to upgrade the gingerbread to honeycomp version?
Do you know how to re-enable the light from keys menu (menu, home, back, search)?

Try button backlight widget from market.
Sent from my Tab using a pigeon.
ics will most likely replace honeycomb,
but until then
download honeycomb launcher, ripple lock & honeybread theme(if your on boca, cm7 or MIUI) from the market
Unless the the amazing guys in the dev section can do something deemed impossible by the manufacture, without any sort of actual source code, its the closest you'r going to get.
I think the developers love to make it stable and usable.. I really support those guys who is trying to port HC to galaxy tab. I'ma GSM user. Hope someone can make HC for GSM galaxy tab too.
google has said honeycomb was rushed out & will never be open source. With ICS on the horizon it makes no sense to push for honeycomb.
Is there a point of installing HC on our out dated Tabs now???
What is the point of upgrading software when hardware isn't par?
I feel the same about GB as well, I feel like Froyo runs best on the Tab.
But that's just my humble opinion, dont take offense or defensive.

Ok i am pretty sure this is never gonna happen officially, (considering the froyo official update is going to come somewhere around april), BUT is it even possible for Gingerbread to work (in all it's glory) on the G3???
I am a bit of a newbie, still learning the tricks of the trade (haven't even tried flashing to froyo yet, holding off till i "know" something).
Anyway was just wondering.

No .
why ? not powerful enought ?
OMFG!!! We ain't got an 100% Froyo version yet... Let ginger to another time! Hehehe
Maybe someday!?!?! But not now, we just need an good and stable version from FroYo first...
I m jealous of dat bloody optimus one. ..coz those guys gonna get gingerbread nt us...
-Devilgod (United Devils)
Anybody here at xda can port it to da G3?
It doesn't make me jealous.... Angry yes :X .... why does Samsung suck so much at support.... Froyo came out ages ago ... :'(
Nope i dont think..any of us r develooer or knw ny type of stufff....:-(
-Devilgod (United Devils)
well i am sure guys at xda will make a 2.3 version after a stable 2.2 version is given by Samsung for official version i have little hope.
actually the biggest thing missing now is the kernel source: the mainline android kernel doesn't support some things (touchscreen, accelerometer), and generally there is very little information about the SOC or the other hardware (no one cared to take it apart, s5p6442 specifications not on Samsung's site, from what the eclair kernel makefiles chose at compilation it appears it's got an arm1136j-s CPU, armv6k instruction set).
Once there is kernel support for the hardware the actual platform should work. I sent a source request a few hours ago (at least JPB sources), but I'm not too optimistic. I expect that if they see fit to reply it will be something along the lines of "GPL only makes it compulsory to share sources on request for official binaries, get lost!".
Didn't cyanogenmod created an source WITH sensor and wifi stuff?

oh, well... had to try; I guess they must have a button for this kind of replies already
Now I know this is a ridicilous idea as it defeats the whole purpose, but would it be possible to port gingerbread to xoom, or is there already a gingerbread rom that would work. The bootloader was unlocked in under two hours so could cyanogenmod be ported like it has been to the nook color. I absolutely love honeycomb, and think it is superior to gingerbread, but seeing it on the xoom would only further its abilities. If any developer would be up to the worthless but awesome challenge, or simply has an intriguing idea, please reply.
well i cant say i know much about porting. but all of these honeycomb tablets (correct me if im wrong) are directly based on the ventana development kit. or at least extremely similar. so. my advice is start here. there are some 2.2 + 2.3 builds to play with.
http://developer.nvidia.com/tegra/devkit-ventana
I will take a look in a while, and if I make any progress, then I will post back.
haha, i will have to make sure to get rid of boot.bin. Not really in the mood for flashing a new bootloader.
All the needed image files are here.
Wow, this tegra development kit is absolutely amazing. It includes all the drivers and software for the nvidia tegra 2 platform. I am going to play with this software, and see what I can do. I'm not very patient, so do not expect anything but if I ever get anything working I will post back. Kind of interesting that nvida would release froyo and gingerbread builds for a platform that is as you said almost identical to the xoom, gtab, and other "honeycomb" tabs.Well, hopefuly honeycomb aosp will be released eventualy. Anyways thanks for the link.
Thanked ya
As in title, can we hope to see Ice Cream Sandwitch on our Tattoo sooner or later (maybe through CyanogenMod)? The Android team said that EVERY phone that had Gingerbread can have ICS: it's the same for the Tattoo or it's not doable due to the limited hardware (I also mean screen size)?

i really hope we can see this happen
but for now i think it's to early to say. high end phones have no info yet, so we gotta be very patient ICS source is not out yet...
so for now, we are happy that we have 2.3.7 which isn't on many high end devices
this is a nice read
http://www.androidcentral.com/ice-cream-sandwich-what-happens-next
We have to wait until Google releases the source-code. After that, we can see if our device will be able to run ICS
I have actually given up the hope to upgrade my tattoo further than 2.3.7, because I don't feel that my phone can use the new features in 4.0 so what's the point ^^ GPU Accelerated UI and better dual core support isn't very much for the tattoo. The ride with my tattoo has however been really nice, and it was a really good way to get introduced to android Galaxy Nexus here I come?

Hi Guys,
What do you think about this?

Looks like there's a chance to get ICS in our Tattoos
I have checked it yesterday.
stelios97 has ported it to both X10 mini and wildfire,
so there is very good chance that we can have ics miui for tattoo.
But then I wonder, is there any dev still holding a Tattoo to help us.
Would be really nice to have MIUI on our tattoo.
It would even be better than having ICS!

The other day I read that 2.3.7 source for MIUI was released
http://shrewdgeek.com/2012/02/04/xiaomi-makes-miui-gingerbread-2-3-7-open-source/
all we need is to get it compiled for ARM v6
Where are the developers for tattoo roms?
Arco? Kalimocho? rallapag? you've also done some ports, didn't you?
can someone port MIUI to our tattoo?
i don't know much about android rom development, but i think it wouldn't be much more work to port this miui rom than port some sense roms. a wildfire version is already available.
Its more some driver related things, i think
can someone try it please?
Hi .dot
You know, I am not a dev.
What ever I do, I am afraid it will be incomplete like my sense 2.3 rom port.
We need a real dev, unfortunately Arif-ali as well gave up working on Tattoo yesterday has indefinitely stopped android development.

i really hope that there will be a new rom.cause i´m a little bored with my tattoo and the nfinity-rom. i hope that the dev will start to work on it..it would be fantastic!PLEASE

and we are working together on CM9 port and also on MIUI project.
I've done a search with no luck. Where can I find the most comprehensive instructions for installing Honeycomb to the original Galaxy Tab?
Thanks!
Over in the development forum in this very section. I think both CDMA and GSM variants only ever managed to get WiFi working and that was it. Now that the full source of Honeycomb and ICS are out, there might be something new coming, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Ok. Thanks for the info.

I havent been able to find anything regarding honeycomb on the 7" SGT as well. I read that Honeycomb was geared towards dual core devices though. I wouldnt expect great performance if someone was able to develop it for the SGT. Just mu $0.02.

I was running the Alpha/RC1 build for a couple of days on my GSM P-1000T and it wasn't bad. Only problems were a few graphical glitches (notification area quick toggles didn't appear) and the major ones were that I couldn't get my 3G service to work and I couldn't access the internal SD card. Other than that, not a bad OS, but probably not a daily driver level just yet.

I have been using the same RC1 build for the last week. I have major battery issues, takes forever to charge.
What did you go to after this? The time it takes me to charge my battery alone is enough reason for me to change ROM's.

There is a thread in the general section 4th one down for the RC1 build if you want to test it out.

cdma honeycomb beta 1.0
Hello Folks,
I am a Recognized XDA Developer and I work on Cyanogenmod for Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 which is an exact similar device to Galaxy Tab P1010 (TI OMAP3630).
We have got fully working CM9 and CM10 on Galaxy SL, with few minor issues with video recording and laggy interface. However, we are working on porting the new 3.0.8 kernel that was released on omapzoom. This new kernel would help us resolve issues that we have been affecting ICS and JB releases.
So far, we have managed to get the kernel booting with few basic stuff like Touchscreen, Panel, Audio, Keypad, Vibrator working. Galaxy SL is exactly similar to Galaxy Tab P1010 WIFI and it essentially shares the same kernel and I suspect that most of the userspace stuff also should be the same. I was informally asked by cdesai if I was interested to develop for this device, but I had to turn my back since I wasn't really having the time for it.
However, since we are working on a new kernel for Galaxy SL from scratch, I would really like to take the initiative of making something useful for P1010 too, keeping in mind the small user base for Galaxy SL, we thought our work could be useful for P1010 and would benefit more people.
We would like developers working on P1010 to come forward and let us know the current status of development on this device (Kernels, Custom Roms, Attempts at CM, etc), so that we could plan something accordingly. Also, we would be interested to know how many people actually own this device and would like to have CM over it. Let's use this topic as a playground!

Let's do it people, I'm willing to help dhiru as well.
I'm in too
@dhiru (Y)
This is fantastic news, and thanks for considering the P1010 as everywhere else I've looked hasn't really got anywhere. While I'm afraid I won't be able to help with any of the development (I wish I could, but I'm too busy as it is), I can use my device for testing. Keep it up, and I can't wait until it's all sorted.
Personally, I'd love to have any version of CM on this tablet, as Android 2.3.6 is looking really dated now, and the interface is laggy compared to that of Android 4.1 devices. I've upgraded to CM10 on my Galaxy S and it's so much smoother than it was, I can only hope the same is possible for this device, as it's certainly capable.
Also, I know Motofoca over on the MadTeam forums was working on it (which you already know, most likely), but he's not mentioned anything towards progress in a while. I can't post a link though, considering I've got less than 10 posts, so you'll have to google it.
Any help I can give is gladly offered, now when it comes to coding I am rusty... In fact I think the rust has extra layers of rust but know what I am looking at and can spot the bugs and offer suggestions.
I have two of these and still think the actual build of them is excellent so would love to have some decent internals

I don't know whether this was a typo or not, but you can get CM10 or CM9.1 (stable) for the P1000 already. Just look on the cyanogenmod site for the P1. This is for the P1010 which is the WIFI only version of that tab and doesn't yet have a release of cyanogenmod for it.
