V6 supercharger - Acer Iconia A500

Does anybody use the V6 Supercharger script on their A500/A501? Having a milestone as my phone, the script was a real lifesaver for me. Having so much more RAM on the tablet really reduces the need for it, but I was curious to find out who uses it and what kinda minfree values you use.

anybody tried the v6 supercharger and loopy????
Yes v6 works fine, didn't really see such a great improvement in speed but I presume that's mostly just because of our phones low end spec, I prefer not to tweak so much now though so I don't use any memory tweaks anymore........
Tried v6. Didn't notice any difference at all.
Ahh the good old placebo scripts. Don't bother with them, they either don't do anything or tweak stuff that android/Linux are perfectly good at managing for themselves.

but it works superbly in p500 roms,
really good, look this rom full of scripts
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382033
Just because there are lots of scripts in a rom doesn't make them any good.
Have you looked at what the supercharger script is doing? Do you understand the changes it makes? There are a lot of things in that script that simply do not apply to android, the rest are placebo effects or "tweaks" that do nothing for real world usage and just boost scores in quadrant.

Even if you do go for the V6 Script,a bit of advice - stay away from the network / 3g tweaks. There are quite a few not-so-happy endings on the Wildfire forum for people who used them. (Which involved using an RUU to go back to a stock sense ROM, rerooting and coming back to CM)
I respect everyone's view on this kind of stuff and each to there own. Here's my take on them.
After numerous attempts of getting v6 to run I managed it only to have it screw my phone up totally and as 3xeno stated I had a ballache getting my phone back lol.
Juuwes script thing was easy to install but I seriously couldn't tell you if it was doing anything as I noticed no improvement.
Now at the times when everyone was going mad for these kind of tweaks I came across an app called autokiller memory optimizer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267425
To this day I swear by this little beauty. Some may say I be under the placebo spell but I doubt it with the amount of times I've run my phone with and without the app through numerous scenarios and I always end up setting it back up again. To me this is my preferred method as I can set exactly what I want tweaking, lower certain apps oom levels and set totally custom low memory kill levels too,I've yet to see a script that gives me that control.!!! The advanced options are very good too e.g changing my sdread speed and lowering my wifi scan time. Ok enough of the selling lol I have no connection to this app or the dev but I seriously recommend everyone to try it. Hey if its not for you then go try one of the others mentioned.
" once its gone,its GONE."

V6 SuperCharger

I have tested the V6 SuperCharger along the week and I noticed a really good performance using the Brazil Retail 2.3.6 ROM.
the battery gets a little hot
Here is my settings:
9. MegaRAM 2 w/512mb {6,12,75,100,125,150 mb}
11. OOM Grouping Fixes + Hard To Kill Launcher

I agree with you in parts when you say free ram is wasted ram cause free ram is used to improve system performance. But, according to those links (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20163493&postcount=6695 / http://www.rt-embedded.com/blog/archives/linux-memory-consumption/) the almost full usage of ram doesn't bring any benefits as damage in multitasking as well.
The way is to find the free ram level because below it, some apps, launchers and...why not, the whole system starts to freeze and above it doesn't improve anything.
Answering you question: I had tested all values and, in my opinion, they are the best.
Did you try with other values? What did you think?
My apologies, i looked to V6 SuperCharger script few days ago, i think i didn't fully understand what this values do.
Now i'm using ms2toobox's "Positive" settings (96MB). And i have now 24MB free ram. So it's not 96MB of wasted space. Maybe 150MB isn't so bad.
If you have 100mb free (according to task managers), it's giving you idle ram+ buffers+cached apps.
If you type the free command in terminal, you will see how much is really free - way less than you think.
The engine flush script will actually show you both stats, before and after flushing
Just tried it with setting 7.
I am going to try setting 11, too and report how it goes in a while
Is anyone else using it?
I'm using it with MegaRAM 1 setting on ICS with the new patch released for ICS by zeppelinrox. But the settings don't seem to stick after reboot.

Not sure about the battery consumption, probably didn't affect it

If you're running Quarx ICS, then don't bother with v6 as it created more lag than it fixed. I say that because I have used it on Quarx ICS 05\12 (Bravo) with full 100% supercharged and had mixed results. Kickass Kernelizer and 3G Turbocharger (use Experimental 1) are highly recommended for Quarx ICS. I highly recommend installing my DroidX Governor Pack before using Kickass since DX Gov's install the SIO IO scheduler as well as the Gov's. If you're using Epsy's latest CM9, then the Gov Pack is still necessary since the bootmenu values for SIO are incorrect. Quarx fixed it yesterday, but there hasn't been a rom built yet with the correct fixes yet.
If your on Quarx or Epsy CM7, you really need to use this.
Since I make it a point to use Kickass Kernelizer, 3g, and v6 on almost all my roms, come by the Bravo Forums, since I only come over here to see if there are any problems with my DroidX Governors, and I'll help where I can.

Fast and smooth MiniCM9

I've installed nAa's MiniCM9, and managed it to be superfast. I've decided to collect the tips and tricks that you can use to increase the speed of your phone. It will run like hell, but i can't say the same about the battery So if you want a (relatively) longer battery life, im afraid this thread isn't for you.
1. After you installed the rom, supercharge it with V6 SuperCharger by zeppelinrox
howto: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
i've chosen 256+ HP super unledded
2. Use swapper
howto: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445543
a 128 MB swap file in my case
3. At the performance settings use the following options:
CPU: 748 Mhz with smartassV2 governor (this is the most stable for me, but you can experiment with higher CPU clock), and set on boot of course
RAM: zRAM 18%, and turn on purging of assets and KSM
Turn off Surface dithering, and use 16bit transparency
4. Use Apex launcher instead of Trebuchet (or ADW/LauncherPro if you don't persist the ICS experience).
note that if you change the launcher, you have to run the SuperCharger script again to make the new launcher also die-hard
5. With a root exprorer (e.g. ES file explorer) delete the unused apps from system/apps directory. Stay away from apps like Facebook, whose eating a lot from your precious RAM in the background
Enjoy your good old X8 running ICS, reaching 1800+ points at AnTuTu benchmark and running real fast and smooth I hope i helped. Have fun!
nAa, all of my respects is yours keep up the good work!

Increase performance with V6 Supercharger?! ..try this!

Hey guys , i find that Ram Manager pros oom values for Hard Gaming work a LOT better than the 512hp ledded option in v6 supercharger-- Hell ,any of the settings in RMP work wonderfully... So try using the v6 custOOMizer and add those values . Try it out and discuss! , its working wonderfully for me.
Keep in mind that you should keep a lightweight launcher if you are gonna set it to die hard or bulletproof. Im using Lightning launcher which uses less than 10mb overall.
Results? HTK Launcher + the gaming performance of RMP = amazing!
I could post the values here , but im not sure if im allowed .. please confirm that theres no problem and ill edit the topic to add them , otherwise just google them
Of course i assume you know what V6 Supercharger is and how to use it , if not check out this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276/
Its really easy , almost fool proof , but keep a nandroid BACKUP , just in case.

Ram Manager Pro is a scam and a rip-off and lies to everybody who uses it.
It doesn't "lock home in memory"
It uses a modification of my OOM grouping fix (to the adj file) and called it Hard to Kill launcher at first, which I put a stop to, then it was "non-killable" launcher and now it's "lock home in memory"
And it's all a load of BS mixed with snake oil.

If you have that app installed, V6 SuperCharger won't even run.
You pick the scamming app or the real deal.
You can't have both.
Because I say so.
I never really seen any improvement with v6 supercharger, in my opinion I think its just a waste of time! I've had better use from ram manager pro

That's BS. Supercharger script totally works great. On gb and pics it makes the home launchers faster and more responsive. U might be missing steps when you run the v6 script but its your choice.

My r800x with the v6supercharger and stock launcher was able to play spiderman near flawlessly and without the script it has way too much lagg.
R u sure?? Shouldn't u be running v6 with gamebooster for gaming?? I think that paired up pretty well. Plus we only run the gamebooster when gaming n disable it after. The rest is up to v6 to decide. Its easier i think n much more reliable.

V6 supercharger is amazing, and like zep advertises, it's the only one that does what it does.
Also "lock home" barely works in rmp.
Maybe you didn't notice that there are no launcher redraws?. That alone speeds up the ui a lot.
The problem with game booster, rmp, and v6 is that they work very similarly, so using them at the same time will probably net you some very mixed results.
I uninstalled them all, and decided to keep only v6 with the same values RMP uses for hard gaming as a power shift (for quick use) and IMHO its working amazing.
My gaming performance is top notch and I can quit and open a game instantly. With RMP it was guaranteed that I would get a launcher redraw.
I wish I could post a video, but just try it and see if it works for you.

This has been out for ages even before I joined, search before you post please unless you change this to a disscussion
how have you got v6 to save the hard gaming mode values in rmp I have been trying for over 1 hour ?
Write them down, If you have v6 running, and then run rmp in hard gaming, v6 will show you that the values are different (and it will tell you the current values)
You can also use rom tool box and check the values with the included memory manager... Auto killer will also show you the values.
Also I'm not talking about using v6, I'm talking about using v6 with a specific set of values+custoomizer, which is afaik a new idea.
So yeah this deserved its own topic.
Edit : run v6 and then option 10 (in rc11), it will then ask you to input the numbers one by one.

I think the idea of using v6 supercharger as a script is way beta than an app... correct me if I'm wrong, but won't Ram Manager Pro be eating ram as well as TRY to do what V6 does so flawlessly??
If there were a GUI App for V6 supercharger,I'd still use the script, less ram consumption... beta performance
A GUI is way more noob friendly and frankly , a lot less intimidating. Even if Supercharger is almost fool proof , its still was kinda scared it would brick my phone
A gui app could make zep some money , and i think most fans would support him , if it were cheap enough. I would still run the script unless the app had some exclusive features or something .

Tips to increase performance and increase battery life |Xperia X8/W8

Hey people, this is my first post.
So basically this post is for people still using xperia x8 / w8.
TIPS to increase performance :
1. Install a custom ROM (with a custom kernel). It's no use installing a ROM on stock kernel because it's not very fast and battery life is low too ( I like Minicm7 and Minicm10)
2. After installing the kernel and rom, install a nice launcher. (LauncherPro for gingerbread and nova /apex for ice cream sandwich or jelly bean).
3. Tweak cyanogenmod performance settings : increase vm heap size, allow purging of assets, disable surface dithering, set cpu governor to smartassv2. Overclock if you want but not too much.
4. Use v6 supercharger script. (easy to follow and works great). Do it only if you have custom kernel, because on stock it asks to update busybox which soft bricks the phone).
5. Use autostart manager to remove unnecessary apps from boot.
6. Install apps that you need.
7. Enable "long press to kill apps" in development and kill after you use them like browsers etc.
8. Don't use task killer.
Battery life tips (I assume you are on custom ROM with custom kernel) :
1. Use setcpu and enable profiles. Make the following
A) Screen off - Set Minimum and maximum values of clock the lowest.
B) Battery levels - Choose the maximum to any value below 600 mhz but above 320 when say, the level is less than 40 percent or maximum 480 when the level drops below 50 percent.
2. Make sure you uninstall Dsp manager with titanium backup or root uninstaller.
It sucks lots of battery.
3. Don't set auto brightness.
4. Keep vm heap size to 32.
5. Set governor to on-demand using set cpu for all profiles. AS WELL as for normal usage. (where there are sliders)
6. You may use antutu battery saver. It may or may not work for you.
7. Use v6 supercharger script.
That's it. Press thanks if I helped.

Sir, Thank you for your review and the beer Yes I am aware of the fact that many people know about it but are tired going through many threads so I compiled a list. That's all.

@op you may want to review some info. for example, for performance, smartassv2 isn't really the best choice (interactive or ondemand, anyone?). you may also want to remove v6 supercharger since noobs will ultimately ask a lot of questions about it (specially ics/jb users). conversely, ondemand is NOT the best choice if you want to save battery. it has a hair trigger that jumps to max freq and stays there for a long time (like interactive but with different conditions for scaling iirc). there are also lighter launchers than nove/apex/launcherpro. uninstalling or freezing unused apps can also help performance instead of trying to kill them (specially with apps that simply restart themselves). you also have the undervolt option. and updating busybox will not necessarily cause issues if you're on custom kernel. i've updated mine on cm7&10 without issues. i do think gdx (at least on stock kernel) bootloops if you update it. as daggre said, we already have lots of tuts about this, so it would be best to give accurate info or else it will just confuse users.
