Hey all,
I've been dying to have a fantastic essentially stock (real) gingerbread ROM for the G2. While the OTA update is pretty good, it still is missing a few key aspects of what gingerbread should be - blinking LED notifications, the CRT screen turning off effect, a bunch of other stuff. I just recently threw android onto my mother's HD2 Leo, and put this ROM on there. Stock, obviously rooted, with a bunch of awesome features that you can see in the link there. It is FANTASTIC. Probably the best ROM I have ever dealt with.
I guess what I am looking for is a Gingerbread AOSP stock that is currently on the Nexus One - (2.3.5 Gingerbread)
I would love to see a rom identical to this on the G2! Does anyone know of a rom available for the G2 like this?
Or, even better, would someone like to help me figure out how to port this ROM to the g2?
Cheers all
- D
You could try CyanogenMod 7.1-RC1, it has all the features you said you wanted. It does use ADW.launcher, but you can install the stock launcher by following the instructions here.
CM is actually pretty good - my issue is that the look, feel, and operation is nothing like stock gingerbread! I really want something like the stock AOSP Gingerbread Nexus One rom.
EDIT - Hey! One hundred posts!
Cm 7.1 isn't 2.3.5. U need to install the latest nightly. Have a new rom to install every morning is not only exciting, u get new features as they are implemented. What are u talking about CM not being like stock ginger? It IS aosp gingerbread. The true android with zero carrier additions or overlays. You must be confused as to what stock ginger is. Also, get rid of adw the second you install ginger. Adw is a piece of garbage that brings CM WAY down. First thing I always do is search gingerbread launcher in the market and install the real stock ginger launcher. Then your experience will be perfect

Ah - I think that adw launcher is what turned me off of it! I'll give it a go there.
Use the stock launcher, and CM7 is exactly what you want.

This. I've been running a stock GB launcher on CM7 for months now. Check the thread in my sig for it.
I used cyanogen's latest nightly (2.3.5) then xboarder56's converter. Works like a charm!
:Hey guys,
I'm in trouble with multiboot and tried some ways but failed. So I need your help!
My main system is MS2 2.3.4, BL6, GB kernel. And I want CM9 defyplus to be the 2nd system.
First I tried m11kkaa's multiboot v0.7 but couldn't launch CM9, it stunned with black screen. Then I found multiboot can't work on GB kernel after that. So I searched solution and found this View attachment multiboot_v0.5.5_fix.zip,it came from http://bbs.mfunz.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=408756, and could work on GB kernel. With this i could launch CM9 finally, but it came out another question, the encryption unsuccessful and couldn't go on.
After reading the changelog of m11kkaa's multiboot I thought maybe the v0.6.1 can work properly. So I tried to contact with the guy who did modification on it for help but failed.
I think the attachment maybe useful to m11kkaa for developing multiboot on gb kernel, but i cant reply his thread for i'm new.
Can someone help for letting m11kkaa know here maybe have the solution of multiboot with gb? I'm very thankful!
My defy plus is bl7.. So stock gb kernel.. And multiboot worked fine.. Just don't flash any kernel.. I didn't have any problem..

Actually i got touch with the guy from mfunz.com finally, and with his help i got a fixed v0.6.1, then i made it.
The only thing which different from my 1st try is when stunned as black screen i kept waiting, for about 3 or 5 Minutes the screen turned on at last. Then i got into desktop without encryption unsuccessful.
So maybe i should wait longer at the first try? maybe the fixed version is unnecessary?
Anyway, thanks for your reply. let me know the multiboot can work with gb kernel at least.
But i swear i saw m11kkaa'reply in his thread saying that it's not support for gb kernel.
And, what's mean of 'Greenbreadmod' in the changelog?
I used v0.6.1.. Not the fixed one.. I didn't have any problems.. Tried cm7 ms2ginger and cm9 on multiboot and all worked fine.. what image files are you using?? did you flash a kernel while installing ms2ginger??

Hi guys, just wanted everyone to know that SlimBean version 2.0 was uploaded by Krarvind today Thanks Krarvind!!
Everyone can get it here: >>> http://www.slimroms.com/changeloganddownload.htm
Just scroll down until you see the DL links for Common, Rom and Addons. Click T959 for our device after you click on ROM!
PS. If I did anything wrong with this post, or if Krarvind does not want me posting this, I will take it down immediately or modify so it fits.
Again, Thanks for all the hard work Krarvind!
(I posted a similar thread in Q&A, it was a mistake, so I PMed our Forum Moderator oka1, and requested for him to remove the thread. Please don't yell at me for making such a stupid accident. xD)
Are you running it? Have you used other jb ROMs? If so some feedback please.
Thanks

Oh yea, definitely. Its amazing!!! I have not found a single issue yet (besides the normal ones, such as GPS >.> Fixes will be coming soon tho ) its a lot smoother than any other roms ive tested. I have not tested camera or anything else yet, but Im positive everything runs well. I have used both CM10 Alpha Preview as well (I was on 0803) and Hellybean. Ive never tested jellybro because I heard there is a lot of battery drain. AOKP is quite laggy so I havent tried that out. Anyway, IMO SlimBean has been better than both. I have not tried latest Hellybean because of all the installation issues on 0804 and 0805. I think Ill stay on SlimBean for a while. You should DEFINITELY try it out. Love it. I also made some changes in the Semaphore kernel app. With those changes + SlimBean, the ROM runs like the wind
Cool, I am currently running helly 807. Its very quick and other than standard issues (GPS, 911) its been good. My major issue though is, on cm10 preview my system ROM part had 360+/-mb. It left me almost 100mb+/-free, with helly sys ROM is 262mb leaving only 10+/-mb free. Can you open titanium backup and see how many mb's the system ROM is? Total/(free)
Thanks

Oh, and one more thing, Krarvind just put up a GPS test file in the forums to be pushed in system/lib. I hope testers can get some results for a working GPS Krarvind really works fast!
Here it is:
System ROM: 367 mb (139 free)
Is it like cm10 or stock jellybean, and does it have a data data?
Sent from my Jellied out Vibrant sandwich.
Check out the Hellybean nightlies Here and here and the Devil Kernel for ICS here and Jelly Bean here for the Galaxy S and variants.

It doesn't have /datadata, but it's extremelly fast. I was swapping between Jellybro SKANG and HellyBean and this one is much faster than both.
Any ideas to change LCD density cause the LCD density modder boot looped my phone.

How did you do it?
Try the following and see if it works:
Open the build.prop Editor, click on ro.sf.lcd_density and change the Property Key from 182 to 240.
I tested here and it worked fine.
Yeah it did and can anyone upload the stock launcher, I can't seem to find it.

I did (did a nandroid backup first of course). Had no problems whatsoever. Flashed the air kernel and the dark mods over it as well Shouldn't give too much trouble, but just in case make a backup...

But if I do it manually, I have to do it every time framework-res.apk is updated!

Since JRO03L merge (or around that time) rom has become laggy from me after a certain uptime...
I have no idea what happened... Just flashing an older build helps a lot...
At the moment I'm trying aokp (without wiping!) and everything appear to be way smoother compared to the cm10 experience I was getting with the nightlies...
The only versions being fast and smooth were the featured ones released by kalim
Anybody else feeling a similar situation?

Tempting to try it, may as well give it a try now too. Read good things about AOKP + air kernel (running air kernel with CM10 nightly now, 0821). Could run some benchmarks. Then again, they are just nightlies...So bugs are expected.
I'm on a clean install of cm-10-20120821-NIGHTLY-crespo and am not getting screen rotation. Wiped /system, /davlik, and factory reset.
I came from a eurostank jellybro build from the 17th and then full wiped and tried AOKP JB build 1 for a few minutes and then full wiped and came to this build.
Anyone else getting similar results?
EDIT: Just dirty flashed (wiped /cache and dalvik) over official cm10 8/21 to Euroskank's Jellybro 8/21 build and screen rotation is back!
aokp is one of my favorite roms I only used it when I had my galaxy s3..i have the s4 now. im rooted and I have tried almost every build (4.3 and 4.2) available and my phone always randomly reboots but with Cyanogenmod or Slim or PACman everything is perfect....any ideas on what could be causing this? I am sticking with CM because it gets more updates and its more stable but would really love to have AOKP back

No I have never flashed a kernel myself always have used the one the rom comes with? I'm not too familiar with kernels and don't really even know what exactly they do and which one would work for my model
