I want to collect the system images in case you must get back to stock.
Just do the following and upload your image.
Code:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 of=/sdcard/system.img
perfect would be an nearly untouched build
IMAGES:

Stock?
How would one of these get me back to stock? I've got a corrupt file - so I am bootlooping after root. SU causes a seg fault, so I can't get root permission to remount & replace the busted files... anyone figure out getting to recovery yet?

Use this file http://db.tt/3hqvgP1 and push it to /data/local/tmp
Then run it via ./data/local/tmp/gb
You should be root afterwards and be able to fix permissions etc

borked system/bin us version 16gb
hi I borked my acer. root went smoothly, but then I made mistake of trying to enable adhoc supplicant. I downloaded es explorer and used remount to enable rewrite to system/bin. Now everything disappeared. It will still load, but wifi shows error.
How do I return to stock?

Thank you so much! I got stuck on the Android ! boot screen and couldn't get the OS to boot after stupidly screwing up permissions after I rooted. I downloaded your zip, renamed it to update.zip and loaded it on a microsd card. Then I put the card in, booted the tablet while holding volume down and recovery loaded the system image and I'm back in business. It did come with a few apps loaded into system I'm not familiar with including a few that weren't in English. Will a factory reset remove those, does anyone know?
Edit: This is also missing gapps including the market... You sure this is a US image?
no thats a chinese update u need to follow a link thats been post above urs a bit ago and follow the directions on how to add market to the nook color.
Sent with my Acer A500 Ti-X RC1
Thanks I found the info. And I bricked it again. Looks like it's getting exchanged at best buy tonight. I'm not going to try rooting again anytime soon.
tonight come in to the irc channel and talk to me. we will get u rooted but not bricked.

Hi and sorry for my poor english...
Could you explain how to put back a system.img backup in the tablet in case of a problem ?
Thanks a lot !
I don't know if that's possible while running the device. This will be good for the recovery tho

Not yet. We have to wait and see.
By the way, how about a "call for dev" to the people who rooted A500 in the first place?
Not yet, but could use some help
I captured the update.zip and rooted it but can't get it to run. I'm not sure if it only works if the manufacturer signs the update.zip because I can only sign with a test certificate, trying to get this resolved.
I have to get these Iconia 500 rooted as it is fubar'ng our fleet. We root and install a sales/inventory/delivery system in /system/app and then un-root. Therefore employees can reset them all they want and not have to set them back up and they can wipe them clean of personal data when they leave the company without fubaring the company application. Deploying via the market place cannot be done (we only want employees using the app) and using 'unknown sources' isn't a solution. Plus, most of our employees easily wipe them clean all the time as they play around and learn them. Having the application in /system/app solves every one of these issues. The ACER's update nukes everything is system. Why would they not just modify their applications and leave mine alone?
Thanks to ACER, these folks just deleted out all of our applications and data because all the employees said 'yes/ok' to the update. Now who won't do that?
So, I've got several here for testing and welcome anyone's ideas because they are junk or I will have to flash them back to 3.1 and remove the ability to do updates.
Thanks

EDIT: changed to second set of four files (5-8)!
First 4 files on that page are a rared version of stock 3.2.
Open rar1 and it will unrar all 4. Flash the tablets with it, but I'm not sure you can unroot it afterwards?
CWM - Not loadable is it?
This uses the clockwork recovery doesn't it? You cannot load the CWM unless your have root??? What I really need is to be able to use the stock recovery.
So how do you use CWM without out rooting? Sort of a catch 22?
Now I could download to 3.1 and then install CWM and then apply the update using the modified CWM, but that sort of is a long way around isn't it?

so is it possible for me to downgrade to 3.1 from 3.2 just by flashing the OTA 3.1 given in this post

using the default recovery?
Root for 3.2 can be done!!
From a post by eglathangion on the Developer’s Board:
Googling and surfing around the 'net, I found this repository.
Go to code.google.com/p/acer-a500/downloads/list
The latest filelist shows:
CWM_Root_Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1.part1.rar
CWM_Root_Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1.part2.rar
CWM_Root_Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1.part3.rar
CWM_Root_Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1.part4.rar
My remarks on what I did when tried this out and it worked!
1.I downloaded the (4) files, extracted them to a new folder as .zip files.
2.Copied to my ext-sdcard in a folder
3. After the (4) files were installed as described above, I then booted into Recovery and installed each one individually. After each file I DID NOT "Reboot system now", but rather chose to install the next .zip until all (4) were installed.
4. Rebooted system. All my apps were still there. The only things I did have to do is root with Iconia Root app, install Superuser and set up my e-mail accounts again. When I ran an app that required root access, I simply had to allow access with Superuser.
Everything else was there as it was before the install and everything is working great. ! Did this 3 days ago and no issues!
so, can i download these 4 files, extract into the 1 large file, put on my ext-sd renamed as update.zip and flash from clockwork?

are you sure you are on the stock 3.2 recovery??
because as far as i know and correct me if im wrong, the 3.2 stock recovery does not give you the ability to chose which file you wish to flash. it just flashes the file "update.zip" file..
Also , just for clarification. If i do as previously mentioned to install this, will I still have clockwork recovery or will it flash he new Acer stock recovery?

DO NOT listen to this post (1 post wonder).
First off those four files are rar files that once you begin the extraction, will extract themselves into one large file. There is no way to flash those four files seperately.
Second, root and su are included in that ROM, so no need to root (as indicated in the title of the files).
Please don't Brick your device by listening to these directions!

If he's trying to flash ROMs with stock 3.2 recovery, he needs to sell his tab and get an IPad before he bricks his tab lol
SOLVED: I feel dumb. Turns out the permission for initramfs/vendor/scripts/*.sh, just needed to be set in ubuntu(or linux), before compiling kernel. I thought they were! or I though they would be set in init.rc or perhaps during build.
Anyways first custom kernel built! woo hoo.
I hope this helps someone with a similar issue in the future.
Im building my first kernel, and it will be our first custom kernel for Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (3G) GT-P6200.
I have 2 scripts in Initramfs/vendor/scripts/ 1.) bootanimation.sh, run-parts.sh
2 very common ones. I have been struggling to get them to work. I have done an adb logcat at boot and it says permission denied. in root explorer /vendor/ is the same as everyother folder on root rwxr-xr-x. /scripts/ folder is the same, but both scripts are rw-r--r--. I tried changing them manually as well as fixing permissions in recovery, no change of course, because it likely gets reset at reboot.
My question is how do I make these executable by init.rc? hopefully I can chmod them in init.rc? or chown? I dont want to do it just for my device, I would like to change this in the kernel build.
Thanks so much, if you could PM if you are sure of the answer it would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime I will continue my search.
cheers!

You probably added the stock Ics browser for flash or something. Part of that procedure is to rename the file BrowserProviderProxy.odex to a backup name like BrowserProviderProxy.odex1. All you need to do is rename it back to the proper name. You can use something like root explorer or command line.

Hi!
I've a rollback file on my Kindle currently waiting for downgrading.

Correct! I can read and(!) follow
open rOM Toolbox, scroll right to build.prop Editer and open
Scroll left and create backup

now open root explorer or file explorer
go to SD card rOM Toolbox build.prop backup file and insert the file that you downloaded
---------- Post added at 03:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:57 PM ----------
now go back to backup and restore in rOM Toolbox for build.prop and restore the file that you downloaded here's where it gets hairy
whatever you do do not let it try to install whatever it downloads if you keep touching and using the tablet it will not attempt it on its own it must be at idle.after you reboot go to settings and check version number it should have the new build.prop file and check for updates. I'm hoping it will attempt to redownload the downgrade file to cashe then you must immediately remove it from device and delete that ROM slot.
it may not even like the swap and not even boot in that case that's why we had safestrap installed. It will not work just delete the slot and move on with life
Ok! Did that, installed the downloaded file and did a reboout.

now it doesn't really matter how you want to try to do it but what we need to do is edit your file to accommodate the newer version numbers
you can either go to those backup files and swap their and restore again or use the backup file for reference and do it line by line in the prop build editor
