i have rooted my phone awhile ago . unfortunatly im not that familiar with things though and need some simple directions on how to root the phone and what files to use. please help.
MODEL NUMBER: SPH-D700
FIRMWARE VERSION: 2.2.1
BASEBAND VERSION: S700.0.5S.DK28
BUILD NUMBER: FROYO.DK28
HARDWARE VERSION: D700.0.5
Wow...it has been awhile...1st are you sure you are no longer rooted? You had to be to put DK28 on or did you use that update.zip. Right at the top of this section in the stickies you will find a thread by qbking77 with tons of youtube videos telling you how to do everthing on this phone so far.

i had to use odin to get back to stock because somehow i ended up taking the modem off the phone so i was stuck.

The link to the OP is below the video with the files you need
Wow, Its been a long time.
Heres what you need to do
1. update your phone to the newest froyo update ec05. As its been a while I would not update to the gingerbread leaks, the rooting process will be more confusing.
Put your phone into download mode, by holding power and the 1 key. Odin to eco5 by using the third link on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052813 which looks like this SPH-D700-EC05-8Gb-REL.tar. Take this download and put it into you pda slot and make sure other than pda the only thing that is checked is auto rebooot. After flashing you should be on ec05 stock.
2. Root your phone:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076967 follow the instructions on this page root. After to reach clockwork mod simply press volume rocker down power button and camera button at the same time to reach clockwork mod
3: Install a rom or theme. Go to the development section and install them follwing instructions. I would suggest either an era rom, such as revolt or simply aosp v4 or srf1.2. Follow the instructions on their pages and dont forget to wipe first.
hope that helps
Don't you need a pit file also when doing that & if he not rooted can't he just go to settings to about phone &just manual upgrade to 2.1 EC05?

You can't OTA upgrade from a leak, pit is only needed when selecting re-partition. But I have used the re-partition option without .pit and never had a problem. The .tar actually has the pit information and Odin will auto-detect it.

So i upgraded my phone with the leaked froyo update.zip and everything went well except for the gps. So i followed the how to "unbrick/bring back to stock" thread so i could downgrade my phone to the di18 firmware. I used odin, the s1_odin20100512.pit and the d700.zimage.stock file. I did not want to wipe out everything, i just wanted to downgrade the kernal back to stock.
When i tried flashing on odin, it failed. now when i try turning on my i get the phone icon with the exclamation mark in the triangle. I wanted to call my girlfriend after flashing my phone but now i cant . Please help me save my phone!
EDIT: Okay not bricked, but it wont load up android

Thanks for the tip!
Your gonna want to flash the di18.tar in "pda" with odin and only reboot checked, no pit needed. That gets the di18 firmware back, and the only way.. kernel has nothing to do with it..

I am about to do this too.. and dont want to wipe the data only get back to di18 to get the gps working.. so in that case:
1. I dont need pit file at all
2. which .tar to choose? not the255 mb file?
Mine failed the first time to. I followed the directions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773032
I tried it a second time but used the victory pit that came with odin 1.61 and it worked. I think in the instructions their using an older version of odin.
I'm not in anyway an expert and you may not even need to use a pit like another poster said. It worked for me though. When I got done the phone rebooted and it showed it having the eclair d07 build from there it updated itself to dI18.
I believe you still need the pit file. If you are going back to stock DI18, than use this:
Stock Files
The one you were trying to use was the kernel I believe.
Here is the pit file you need:
pit file
I have flashed back to stock about 14 times and I have used these two files successfully every time.
yeah ive done it te same wasy that swanysto has done it also a lot. it always works for me to. i know some sa you don't need the pit unless just doing a kernel but i always use it. just my 2 cents
pull the SD card out before you go into download mode (not just pull it out, make sure to push down and let it pop up to remove it).
I will explain in as much detail as I can what my problem is.
I am looking to install the Darky Gingerbread Rom, I have already downloaded 7.6 along with the CWM(Update zip)
I am currently using the following firmware
Firmware Version 2.2
Baseband Version I9000XXJPM
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9 / root9(at)sep-42 #1
Build Number FROYO . XXJPM
I have a copy of JM8 which I downloaded today and the RAR contains a Modem & PDA file, which if my memory serves me correct, these are 2 of the files i need along with the CSC & Pit File, which I also have.
From what I can gather I need to run JPY to install Darkys Rom (Correct me if I am wrong) so I downloaded a copy of JPY only to discover that the RAR only contained 1 x file called JPY_JPY_JPY. Tar. At this point I am now stuck because I am looking for a PDA & Modem file for Odin3 v1.0 to install.
Please help me as I am getting frustrated as I have tried all day in my quest to get this on my phone.
Many Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to all

May I ask where I get a rom with 2e recovery or a kernel which supports it?
Not to sure what I am looking for,
Regards GTi9K
yes u could use a 2.1 rom or for example hardcores kernel both flashable with odin there are other kernels just read the corresponding threads to be sure what they do(lagfix...) disable every lagfix backup efs and apps(u will perhaps need to flash again) and be sure u have 3btn combo working...

I think you are new to the community so I will be as basic as possible,
1) Flash XXJPY, you only have 1 tar file that means you flash it with putting as a PDA in odin, and put 512 pit in the PIT section. Then once flashed successfully, let the phone boot then turn off go back to download mode and flash hardcores k12 kernel , just search it on xda in the top right bar. Then flash that in odin and again you will only have one file so place that in pda BUT DONT use a pit this time. Now place darkkys rom in your sd card and power off your phone. Hold volume up, home and power button same time until the screen lights up saying i9000 to go into recovery, select install zip from sd card with the home and volume buttons, then choose zip and select darkkys rom then once install complete, go back and reboot. You are now om darkkys rom. Happy new year

Story:
I installed/downloaded Odin versions: SpeedMod K13E with HZ=500 from http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-download-speedmod.html
and followed the instructions from http://apcmag.com/how-to-update-your-galaxy-s-with-android-22.htm
and now i rebooted my phone to see if it works but it came out as this (plz look at the attachment)
Basically, i installed a speedmod and once its finished downloading I turn off my phone and turn it on again and then it cam up as that. I try to reconnect it to the computer but it does not do any thing. I need help please
Can you access download mode? Try pressing Volume Down + Home + Power. If you can, then flash with Odin a stock ROM.
I can't I tried many times... I might try again though. by the way the OS version of my phone (andriod 2.2) I think is not official. I follow the instructions from here: http://www.pathikshah.com/blog/install-android-2-2-froyo-galaxy-s/
I just tried going to download mode and its works. How do I get the stock ROM? Do i Just have to plug into Odin and thats it?
you need to download a stock firmware from samfirmwares or the like, and then flash it through ODIN. As long as you can get it into download mode, follow the instructions in one of the numerous guides in this forum. There is also a post with links to all the stock firmwares in this general forum.
EDIT:
http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9000.htm < here is the firmwares, you need to register to download, go for the XXJPY version for android 2.2.1. There is also a guide to use ODIN on here too. You might need to reflash the PIT file if the first attempt at reflashing still causes the phone to not work.
Guide to flashing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
(Beat me to it ) I'd also suggest registering with the website samfirmware.com (it's free), then going here http://tinyurl.com/38m5t77 and download the correct ROM for your phone. With the correct ROM downloaded, simply flash it using Odin.
Why not try Gingerbread (2.3.3)? You can download from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901 (make sure you thoroughly read prior to updating).

If u can go into download mode, go into download mode.
Then u can try with EZBase, it's an easy way to put a simple 2.2.1 ROM on your phone, with all the ROM needs.

Its fine already I downgraded it back to 2.2 and it works properly. I won't do anything more. Thnx again
Hi Guys,
So I've a Samsung Galaxy S i9000. Before I begin, can I just say I am totally and utterly technically un-savvy.
My friend rooted my phone so I could unlock it to use a particular sim card. However, my phone is now faulty and
I want to bring it back under warranty for repair/possible replacement.
I have this app called "Superuser" and I just cant get rid of it. I have tried a ridiculous amount of different YouTube
videos/blog instructions on how to un-root and delete the Superuser. None of them have worked in regards to removing
the app. I think I have un-rooted it but I don't know. Please please please can somebody help me! I've no idea what to do
and I don't understand 90% of the technical jargon in some of the instructions.
I tried restored it manually on my phone and via Kies but my phone was just totally restored the exact same way as it was
before (all photos, apps, contacts etc.). I've NO problem losing everything on my phone I don't care. The latest thing I tried was
an app where I typed in a code that apparently deletes the Superuser app but that kept saying it wouldn't work because it was a read
only file.
Here are my phones details:
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000XXJVO
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWJVH
Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks
Make note of the modem firmware by going to settings>about>baseband version
1. Go to samfirmware.com
2. Go to flash tools > I9000 and download it. Extract to desktop.
3. Download stock ROM. firmware> I9000 and then choose the one one that matches the baseband for your area. Like in Canada my baseband is I9000KG3. So that's the ROM I download.
4. Turn off your phone and put it in download mode by pressing volume down + power + home
5. Open Odin from your desktop and plug in your phone.
6. A yellow bar should highlight a com port. This means your phone is recognized, the number doesn't matter.
7. Tick repartition and load 512 put that came with the flash tool, and load your firmware into the PDA section.
8. Start Odin and let it do its magic.
9. When it is done, it might boot loop. Even if it doesn't, reboot into recovery (power off, then power home vol up) and wipe data factory reset.
10. Your phone is 10053-47338282747728728% stock.
11. Hit thanks

Deleting SuperUser will not unroot your phone, check on sammobile.com or checkfus the latest firmware for your country and flash with Odin.
You can find good guides on youtube about how to use it.
Wouldn't it be easier just to run it in recovery and flash unroot.zip file.
I always root my I9001 like this so it should also work in opposite way.
Typed with my I9001
It will leave traces. Best bet is to not.

Hey guys,
So I tried to take my phone to the Samsung experience store today to try and fix my previous issues. the person tried to reset the firmware on it because I am not getting a baseband or IMEI at all (shows baseband unkwon and IMEI null/null). I may have caused this myself by the way when i was playing around with different firmwares and did not back up EFS ever.
Anyway, Now i am stuck with this:
SGH-I337 galaxy S4
Version: 4.4.4
Build: I337UCUFNJ4
Baseband Unknown....
I am not sure what I need to do in order force IMEI back onto phone I tried rooting and playing with EFS, but the phone seems to not get rooted either via motochopper.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT ?!? Need some if your brilliant minds here please.
By the way, the person at Samsung checked by IMEI to make sure it wasnt blacklisted or reported stolen or anything so that is not the issue.

Okay well everyone else is saying never flash a pit file but I ran into the same problem and I actually had to flash a pit file BUT you're only able to fo it on MK2 SO FIRST odin back to a fresh install of NB1 uncheck the reboot option in odin after the firmware finishes and says reset on odin unplug youre cable remove youre battery and stick it back in then use the VOLUME UP HOME AND POWER KEY you will see an android with a progress bar GET READY after its done the phone will reboot hold up the volume and home it will reboot into android recovery and then use you're volume keys scroll down to wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition after that hit reboot system now we're done with that part this is the second part PART 2 after the phone fully boots up and youre at the welcome screen power off the device go into download mode volume down home and power this is where we are able to DOWNGRADE TO MK2 ITS ONLY POSSIBLE FROM NB1 TO MK2 ONLY HEAD OVER TO THIS THREAD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663545 and download two files JFLTE_USA_ATT_16G.pit that's going to be youre pit file and then you need the MK2 firmware AP_I337UCUEMK2_.tar.md5 I'll give you some time to download them it takes a little time........Okay we ready? Good now load up the two files the pit file in the PIT and the Firmware in the AP NOTE you will see now the repartition box checked LEAVE IT its because of the pit file that its checked! Now we are going to uncheck the auto reboot like we did earlier after Odin says phone reset unplug cable remove battery stick it back in and same thing volume up home power then wipe data factory reset and cache partition then reboot phone should boot up to MK2 now the only thing thats not working at this point is the wifi dont worry about that go through the setup process dont worry about any of youre information we dont care at this point go into settings and check and see if all of youre stuff is back baseband imei everything if it is then great thats what we wanted now we can go back into download mode and use odin and upgrade back to NB1 WE'RE DONE! Congratulations everything should be working properly you're now on NB1 you can take OTA to NJ4 if you want or stay where you're at install safestrap and a custom rom I hope all has went well for you and everything works out!

I will def. try this! For the first part, I am already on NB1, so I need to do it again? OR can I skip straight to step 2? (P.s, when i flashed NB1, I didnt follow this whole procedure ( flashing, then resetting etc.) i simply jus flashed it as per Odin.
You can try as-is
You may not have to re-do it, you could probably go ahead and just skip to part two I just always recommend doing a clean flash but if it doesn't work then just simply go back and try that
