So i upgraded my phone with the leaked froyo update.zip and everything went well except for the gps. So i followed the how to "unbrick/bring back to stock" thread so i could downgrade my phone to the di18 firmware. I used odin, the s1_odin20100512.pit and the d700.zimage.stock file. I did not want to wipe out everything, i just wanted to downgrade the kernal back to stock.
When i tried flashing on odin, it failed. now when i try turning on my i get the phone icon with the exclamation mark in the triangle. I wanted to call my girlfriend after flashing my phone but now i cant . Please help me save my phone!
EDIT: Okay not bricked, but it wont load up android

Put the phone in download mode again and run odin again.

Thanks for the tip!
Your gonna want to flash the di18.tar in "pda" with odin and only reboot checked, no pit needed. That gets the di18 firmware back, and the only way.. kernel has nothing to do with it..
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I am about to do this too.. and dont want to wipe the data only get back to di18 to get the gps working.. so in that case:
1. I dont need pit file at all
2. which .tar to choose? not the255 mb file?
Mine failed the first time to. I followed the directions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773032
I tried it a second time but used the victory pit that came with odin 1.61 and it worked. I think in the instructions their using an older version of odin.
I'm not in anyway an expert and you may not even need to use a pit like another poster said. It worked for me though. When I got done the phone rebooted and it showed it having the eclair d07 build from there it updated itself to dI18.
I believe you still need the pit file. If you are going back to stock DI18, than use this:
Stock Files
The one you were trying to use was the kernel I believe.
Here is the pit file you need:
pit file
I have flashed back to stock about 14 times and I have used these two files successfully every time.
yeah ive done it te same wasy that swanysto has done it also a lot. it always works for me to. i know some sa you don't need the pit unless just doing a kernel but i always use it. just my 2 cents
pull the SD card out before you go into download mode (not just pull it out, make sure to push down and let it pop up to remove it).

thanks alot
had found abot same time you posteed .ill give it a try
tried new odin and still stops at samsng sceen then goes blank. when odin is done phone starts loading when gets to formating data. part says data removed failed dont know if means anything
which version of the OS are you trying to reinstall. You need to be using JFD with the PIT at this point.
WITH ODIN PREFERABLY THE NEWEST BUILD
Basically what you need to do is flash eugene's froyo that doesn't brick from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740558
(WITHOUT RE-PARTITION CHECKED).
after the phone reboots it will boot into recovery with an error. don't worry this is normal
Now flash the original tmobile stock firmware (WITH RE-PARTITION CHECKED) from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
if that doesn't work i got nothing. pretty much saved my ass 5 or 6 times now.
so heres the deal, ive read the forum with all the instructions how to downgrade from dk28 back to di18. i even did it on my epic a month ago because i missed my gps. on my phone it worked the first try. no problems whatsoever. so now im trying to do the same with my girlfriends phone and its refusing to work. it either stops at initializing or geting pit. ive been at this for an hour now. any ideas?
Dont use the pit file. You don't need it for flashing tar files. Just put the tar file in PDA and make sure only reboot is checked and hit start.

Have you tried the three different versions of odin out there? 1.0 1.3 and 1.6 somethin? 1.6 has the highest success rate for me. Also you don't need the pit but it shouldn't affect it's ability to complete if you do use it. Also if you're trying to odin back to di18 don't use the di18 extended, it's very finnicky. Just try the pure stock di18 files from noobnl's post in dev section.
When I use ODIN with my phone I need to make sure the PDA file doesn't have the MD5 tag at the end of the zip file. So naturally when I went to flash my gf's Samsung Mesmerize I took the tag off her tar file also. Made Odin crash repeatedly across different versions. When I finally realized I needed MD5 at the end of the file ODIN flashed the phone on the first try.
Lesson of the story is that ODIN is finnicky. Try different things like: Different USB ports, restarting computer before using it, and playing with different PIT files (don't quote me on the PIT thing, I've used different ones with no ill effects). Try changing the zip file to just .zip or .zip.md5 just to make sure it isn't something simple like that.

Pit is specific to build. It tells the phone where to flash what... Following this advice *could* have very detrimental effects .....

I need a link to Eugene's Froyo that wont brick so i can fix my vibrant having trouble
http://eb-productions.net/vibrant/vibrant-unofficial-tmo-2-2.html
I did it
I got my phone up and running then downgraded to 2.1 cuz that 2.2 was buggy peice of crap nothing worked and then i tryed to flash rom and it would not work it failed is it kernel i had to use Voodoo-lagfix-3.0-SGH-T959-odin-pda to get 2.1to work????

If You Did the odin to downgrade you got to root the fone again...there it a nice app call zroot and its free...get it from the market....after rootting install rom manager .....and flash clockworkmod recovery...now yuh ready to flash a rom
Tell Mee If You Got It Working Already...Or Anythinq...If Not ..I Could Help You
UHHHHH.....
Did all that already and it aborts and says something about line or something it erase everything so i have to odin all over agian ughhh dont know wat do cant live without roms
eugenes froyo isnt meant to run as a daily rom...its just a necessity you need to get back to odin another rom for stock... you odin eugenes rom then go back into download mode to odin say JFD.tar (stock 2.1) or KA6.tar (stock 2.2)

Better Instructions
Here is the sequence to fix :
1. Download Eugenes 'Froyo that does not brick' file.
2. Extract the files.
3. Open Odin, plug in your phone, then put it into download mode.
4. load the PIT file in appropriate area.
5. load the .tar file in the PDA area.
6. DO NOT check 're-partition'.
7. Click start, let it finish. Your phone will load and reboot into stock recovery. It will error out again. DONT panic! This is what's supposed to happen.
8. Now, pull your battery.
9. Load the JFD rom for the vibrant'.
10. Extract the files.
11. Once again, open Odin, plug in your phone, put into download mode.
12. Load the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
13. THIS TIME you want to check the 're-partition' box.
14. Now click start, let it finish, and this time your phone will load up just fine!
15. Then, root the phone and you can flash your new Rom.
doing this method will get everything back to normal and the phone will work just like it did right out of the box
Good luck
I know
I am doin it now then when i go back to 2.1 then i try to flash rom it wont work is it because of kernel i am usin
dont flash another kernel until you get the rom flashed first...and maybe the kernel your trying to flash isnt compatible with the rom your flashing on...
ok
I am trying instructions he gave me i will tell what happen this time
Not workin
Now i have same problem where screen is black and buttons light up wat now
try odin JFD without repartition checked
?????
Already did that it only works when i use that kernel
ok...i'm mis-understanding you...are you confusing a rom with a kernel because a kernel is part of the rom.
If you are using this Voodoo-lagfix-3.0-SGH-T959-odin-pda thats a kernel....you need to odin a rom
you need 512.pit file in the PIT box & JFD.tar file in the PDA
Ok
Will try that goin to sleep
everything you need is here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737
good luck
Did all this already i am not that noob at this i have unbricked it abot 5 time but this time its diffrent
I fixed it the problem was I was using 513 not 512 on odin to fix it so now time to test if the rom works alright will keep u guyz in formed

Here is the modem from EF02. Extract from zip and flash with odin. I am using it on Froyo. Use either odin version.
This allows you to do a firmware upgrade to EF10 also......again, I am using it on Froyo
Edit: I have added a zip file containing the exact files that I am successfully using to flash. Download the zip, extract the files, put the pit in the pit, the modem in the pda and flash.

Has this worked for anyone yet?
I just used it(I have flashed a few times to make sure it works) . It works. Im using the old odin.
Playing with both modems now. EF02 was eh ok in my area. 4g was 5.5d 1.6 u. GPS locked faster than i've ever seen. Just pushed to EF10 and rejected it's love of looking for random updates.
Flashed back to EF02 over a thought that they're sacrificing GPS for speed or can't figure out how or why to release them in a modem together. I believe the EF02 amazing modem might be true.
Final verdict: EF02 is the ****. Instant GPS lock and 6-7mbs d/1.6 mbs u on 4g avg. I don't know what went wrong in EF10
Btw, no one got me a pit in time and now I've learned my phone clearly doesn't care.

Please help. Did I just brick my phone? Here's what I did.
Saved and extracted the pit and the modem to the desktop
Booted phone to Download mode
Opened Odin and selected the PIT in the PIT area and the Modem in the Phone slot.
Click Start.
Odin went through ok.
Phone rebooted. But never came back on.
Only at that time did I realize that the Re-Partition box was also checked.
I know... 2 mistakes. Phone slot instead of PDA and Re-Partition was checked.
Is there anything I can do? I've tried booting normally. Booting to download mode. Booting to CWM. First night of rooting and it was going so well until I started to try different modems.

Hey guys,
So I tried to take my phone to the Samsung experience store today to try and fix my previous issues. the person tried to reset the firmware on it because I am not getting a baseband or IMEI at all (shows baseband unkwon and IMEI null/null). I may have caused this myself by the way when i was playing around with different firmwares and did not back up EFS ever.
Anyway, Now i am stuck with this:
SGH-I337 galaxy S4
Version: 4.4.4
Build: I337UCUFNJ4
Baseband Unknown....
I am not sure what I need to do in order force IMEI back onto phone I tried rooting and playing with EFS, but the phone seems to not get rooted either via motochopper.
WHAT CAN I DO NEXT ?!? Need some if your brilliant minds here please.
By the way, the person at Samsung checked by IMEI to make sure it wasnt blacklisted or reported stolen or anything so that is not the issue.

Okay well everyone else is saying never flash a pit file but I ran into the same problem and I actually had to flash a pit file BUT you're only able to fo it on MK2 SO FIRST odin back to a fresh install of NB1 uncheck the reboot option in odin after the firmware finishes and says reset on odin unplug youre cable remove youre battery and stick it back in then use the VOLUME UP HOME AND POWER KEY you will see an android with a progress bar GET READY after its done the phone will reboot hold up the volume and home it will reboot into android recovery and then use you're volume keys scroll down to wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition after that hit reboot system now we're done with that part this is the second part PART 2 after the phone fully boots up and youre at the welcome screen power off the device go into download mode volume down home and power this is where we are able to DOWNGRADE TO MK2 ITS ONLY POSSIBLE FROM NB1 TO MK2 ONLY HEAD OVER TO THIS THREAD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663545 and download two files JFLTE_USA_ATT_16G.pit that's going to be youre pit file and then you need the MK2 firmware AP_I337UCUEMK2_.tar.md5 I'll give you some time to download them it takes a little time........Okay we ready? Good now load up the two files the pit file in the PIT and the Firmware in the AP NOTE you will see now the repartition box checked LEAVE IT its because of the pit file that its checked! Now we are going to uncheck the auto reboot like we did earlier after Odin says phone reset unplug cable remove battery stick it back in and same thing volume up home power then wipe data factory reset and cache partition then reboot phone should boot up to MK2 now the only thing thats not working at this point is the wifi dont worry about that go through the setup process dont worry about any of youre information we dont care at this point go into settings and check and see if all of youre stuff is back baseband imei everything if it is then great thats what we wanted now we can go back into download mode and use odin and upgrade back to NB1 WE'RE DONE! Congratulations everything should be working properly you're now on NB1 you can take OTA to NJ4 if you want or stay where you're at install safestrap and a custom rom I hope all has went well for you and everything works out!

I will def. try this! For the first part, I am already on NB1, so I need to do it again? OR can I skip straight to step 2? (P.s, when i flashed NB1, I didnt follow this whole procedure ( flashing, then resetting etc.) i simply jus flashed it as per Odin.
You can try as-is
You may not have to re-do it, you could probably go ahead and just skip to part two I just always recommend doing a clean flash but if it doesn't work then just simply go back and try that
