please help, doesnt let me do anything. - Epic 4G General

hey guys whats up, im stuck here. i am rooted and on the newest CWM. . heres the deal all of a sudden my phone shows no signal and doesnt let me make calls text, etc,, etc. how the hell can i get it back to where it should be.?please help. stuck without the phone.
baseband version+unknown, frimware version=2.2.1 kernel version =2.6.32.9 builkd number= srf 1.10 / twilight 1.1.0 hardware version = unknown.......thats the info on my phone please help .

If your phone will go into download mode (power off and hold 1 on the keypad while pressing the power buttn) then your best bet is to ODIN back to stock and start over. I'm on my phone now so I don't have links for you but they're pretty easy to find on here. Good luck.

Baseband unknown? That's probably why ya can't get anywhere, no modem. I'd pick a modem and try flashing it in odin ... although the unknown hardware version could be another issues ...

how and where do i get another modem? and where do i get another harware at or fix it.

is airplane mode on?

arplane mode off. looks like im going to need some help and pretty clear directions on how to fix this. thanks everyone

Definitly the modem. I coulda swore i replied already...damn xda app. @op do what this dude said and odin a modem any modem

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123103
They even have videos for ya

Or you can try pulling the battery out and let it sit for 10 secs then put in back in and reboot.
This happened to me also and I tried that and everything started working again

yea
definitely just flash any modem with odin, and you should be all good. no clue how you wiped your modem, but that will definitely fix it. Ive been rooting and flashing my epic for a year and never had any sort of problem like that. crazy ****.

u could always try to boot into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik x3 ea., then reflash the rom TWICE (once immediately after the first, without a reset) then fix permissions, reboot, u should be good to go without a data wipe or anything. u could also try posting in the right section (q&a)

Which is exactly why people have almost zero incentive to post in the right section.
They'll get someone giving them a response to try to help. In the long term, it's really not helpful, because this person hasn't really learned what to do when they need help- spoon feeding it to them is like giving a man a fish instead of teaching him how to fish. They'll just come back again when they're hungry/when something screws up their phone again.

Not to mention as much as people piss and moan about people being anal about the sections rather than "being helpful", that's what keeps this forum nice, as opposed to the giant cluster-ef most others are.
The answers to his questions are easier to find because this forum isn't 90% "Oh noes, I think I broke my phone, fix it for me! .... Sorry, I don't know what "rooting", "odin", "modems", "CWM", "flashing", "roms", or "android" means, can you spell it out more?"

flash back to old radio?

Before you start flaming me, please understand I did a thurough search of the forum and found nothing conclusive. What with bricks and RUU semi solutions, its kinda scary.
Im running flipz radio, and would like to flash back to the old one in preperation for the 2.1 update. Has anyone sucesfully flashed back, and if so, how?
I do not have a nandroid containing the old radio (but from what i gather, nandroiddoesnt effect the radio?) due to an accidental sd format (dont ask)
I do have the backup recovery img from my initial root; will this help?
Thanks in advance!

I thank you most kindly for your speedy response. The threads Ive read have all been inconclusive; ill review your link and report back.
Flash went perfect.
Just wanted to thankyou, and apologize for not searching as well as I should have. I guess I was a little scared and just wanted some attention? Lol jk. Mods feel free to delete, or not, as I promised a report.
Ive stuck with the new radio since its come out, and have in no way noticed better battery life or signal; if anything-worse! -89 to -95 on new radio, -75 to 85 stock. Maybe its cause Im in detroit, maybe my phone just doesnt agree with the new radio (we all know how tempermental the Hero is)
Just my personal experience. I apologize for the clutter.
And yes, lets keep our fingers crossed for 2.1..

Lol I did all the fixes.
Even now, responding to your post voa handset, I can tell its faster. And after flashing the radio at 30%battery, and charging since my last post, ive gone up almost double.
So question is...again inconclusive threads.
Can you flash back the old radio then RUU with out issues? Given there is always a chance for a brick but to avoid issues would it be smart to flash the stock radio before running RUU??? Or is the damage already done?

@K; in my not so professional opinion, the RUU issues are when U'ing between a 2.1 based rom and the RUU, a 1.5 rom. If you have the stock radio and any 1.5 rom, theres simply no reason the ruu wont work

Same problem. My vibrant does not boot Tried the battery method, removing battery, holding volume buttons while putting it back in. Does not work Any other ideas I could try ?
DEAD Vibrant after OTA
Yesterday I borked my Vibrant. Spent alllll night using Odin to get it back to factory and then allowed the Tmobile ota update figuring that it worked fine before. Well it went to reboot and never came back. BLACK screen. Left it plugged in while I ate breakfast with tears dripping in my pancakes (I went to bed at 6am!) and I noticed the top of the phone was very hot. Not the battery the top.
Sometimes I hate technology but technology always hates me!
Would it be worth building a DIY plug?

First of all, what the HECK were you trying to flash onto your device? The only thing you should be using ODIN for is JFD or JI6. Those are the only official T-Mobile firmware you should be flashing to restore from a brick besides Eugene's Froyo, but that's for like emergencies.
Second of all, If you have the Bell Vibrant, this is the wrong forum.
Finally, there is no ODIN 3.1. You must be using Odin3 1.0 which is VERY unstable. Please do more research before you attempt to do things to your phone.
Address these concerns and we can proceed.

Listen here little guy, I was talking to him not you. I asked him three questions to verify what he did because if he doesn't even have the right model phone then this is the INCORRECT forum. The firmware he was trying to flash is incorrect and not stock. T959UVJE8 looks to be firmware for the Vibrant but stock firmware is T959UVJFD and the OTA update is T959UVJI6.
Posting in "our" forum Mr. 3 posts? You are telling me to do more research? That's funny.
Everything I mentioned can be found by simply going to the development section and looking in the Bible. I already mentioned that you need JFD and JI6. The latest version of ODIN is 1.7. All of this can be found in less than 2 minutes.

Honestly, you need to start by looking through there. It seems you both have a lot to learn and spoon feeding you isn't going to solve the bigger problem. Hope you get it resolved. Look through there, find the files you need (you need to get use to looking in the Bible) and come back. If you still have problems after READING, I will walk you through it. Good day.

TMobile Vibrant. It does not even start. So, Odin is not even in the picture. I was flashing the 3 button fix for vibrant using update.zip method. It flashed successfully, but after flashing, it never came back on.
I managed to get my Vibrant into DL mode the other day when it was just a black screen by...
-take out battery, sim, and sd card
-plug phone into wall charger (not computer)
-hold volume buttons while popping the battery back in
it took me a couple times, but i guess the wall charger gets a better jolt?
fyi: my vibrant is not hardware locked
hope this works for you

Anyone else stuck with D12?

Had my Fascinate since launch date. Waited and saw the DI01 come through/ tried to update my phone...install failed miserably..no matter how many times I tried, even did full restore.
I was going to try to get a full DL09 and flash it to my phone, I have Odin, downloaded the .tar file. But got frustrated. I'm pretty computer literate, but for some reason this stuff just escapes me. Anyway went to VZW today and ordered a warranty replacement, should be here Friday. Hopefully this one works and I will either wait for the rumored 22nd release date of Froyo or I will try and download it and flash it...if I can do it.
What hardware version?
Why didn't u post here before u ordered a replacement. It really seem s like the problem was not the phone but what u did.

It's all good man. Getting a brand new phone as opposed to a refurbished one. I understand what to do, I get the general idea as to how, I can read the steps but I am more of a visual learner, so pictures to go along with these install steps would help someone out like me.
I also work for a VZW Premium Retailer. Corporate stores don't like us much, so kinda shocked the Sales Rep that I had as much knowledge about the phone as I did. It's actually a known software problem with the phones. As well as the issue that if you use the unlock pattern on the phone and fail at it 19 times or more it will lock the phone out...it will ask you for the gmail information that you provided but even that will not work, resetting the phone to stock will not work...I was told this by a Samsung Tech Agent that it was a known software issue with their devices.
Got my new phone today.DL09 on the Baseband....now on to root, and Froyo...hopefully
Godspeed, good sir...

First you should disable voodoo.
Then follow this post. It should wipe your phone and put a completely stock version of DL09 on it.
Just make sure to use the PDA button in Odin only.

[i9003] Frustrated First Root

Starting off, I'm probably posting in the wrong section. Excuse my forum etiquette, but I need help with this because I'm insanely frustrated and in pain (Decided to learn how to exploit the android OS while recovering from my surgery).
So, if you've read past that first part and are still willing to help, thank you.
Moderators: If you absolutely need to move this post, please move it to a section where it will actually get attention and I can get an answer. Thanks.
Anyway, the breakdown of my problem is this;
I wanted to root my new day old Sprint CMDA Nexus S, I've never rooted anything android, and if anything the most I've done with a droid OS is installed it on my old iphone 2g.
So I did some googling and first thing to come up was this guide:
nexusshacks(dotcom)/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-root-nexus-s/
Now, usually I would do a bit more research, but because of the lack of blood in my body I'm doing dumb things, making bad decisions, whatever.
So obviously this guide doesn't work, even a quick skim of the comments shows that, I try to follow this guide-
I followed step "fastboot flash boot rootboot.img" then tried to reboot. It freezes at the google boot logo. This is where I start getting a bit nervous because I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
So I think "Well, if I jump over to someone elses tutorial and do that it should overwrite any "root"ing data I've tried to put into the device.
So I jump over to this:
androidadvices(dotcom)/root-sprint-nexus-gingerbread-235-update/3/
It has me install PDANet and it's frozen since on the installing PDAnet to your phone.
I just want to get my Nexus S back to original factory default so I can start fresh from there without a terrible guide.
Can someone please help me get there?
Thanks.
tl;dr:
Bad guide soft bricked my phone and I want to restore it to factory defaults

Ok I can see you need help but I am inclined to warn you instead. Stop. If you cannot figure out how to root the easiest phone to root then you shouldn't be messing around with your phone. You will end up screwing something up, won't know how to fix it, and come crying here for help. Do yourself some research before you go and ruin your phone.
Yes you posted in the wrong place.
There is a thread in this forum on how to root the nexus s 4g. Rooting is model specific. The T-Mobile Nexus s is different from the sprint, att, Rodgers, o2 etc.
Please please do some more research!

if you can get into fastboot then you are still cool, if not you're gonna have to odin it. I dont actually know where the tar files are, Micheal posted it up but i think they deleted the thread. You should have came to xda first,we have one clicks.
actually rooting is the same across the board. same steps same everything... in fact the one click root version 1 would work on any and all of them, version 2 branches out a bit further due to that it installs cwm.
anyways boot into fastboot, download stock fastboot images from petes thread found here http://wonderly.com/bb/CRESPO4G/OEM/GRJ22IMAGES.zip and flash them all in fastboot.
youll be back on stock grj22 but youll at least be booting.. from there follow a guide for rooting this phone that has you flash cwm (not a prerooted kernel). or be lazy and use my one click root

This happened to me too, I was only able to get to the boot screen and it would freeze, and it would only let me get into clock work mod, make sure you have a rom in the root of your SD and flash the rom in clock work mod, the new rom should boot up.

if you have a fairly recent cmw backup and you are on cmw 3.1.0.1 (purple if I got the ver. # wrong) try advanced restore, and just restore the one at the top of the list. Worked for me when I flashed a bad kernel. Good luck!
It'd be nice if you were more specific on what you did before you screwed your phone up so we wouldn't have 10 plus people figuring out basic crap smh. -_-
Quit being such a noon. If you had the smarts to flash a rom....then figure it out. I've made the same mistakes. Better make sure the rom is actually for your phone......noob.
Make sure you have the right kernel for your rom. Most of the times when you get stuck at the samsung logo is because you don't have the right kernel.

Wow. ****. The guy had an issue - we were all "noons" at one point, and we came to the forums for help from those of us that aren't so "noon". Ease up and try to help the guy instead of bashing him.

Double check your ROM. Make sure that it includes a kernel, made for your phone, and isn't some highly experimental thing ROM that may or may not work.
