X8 uninstall xrecovery - XPERIA X8 General

Hi all..
I'm sending my wife's X8 for warranty repair..
I've flashed back the stock ROM which came with the phone via xRecovery (flashed custom ROM before this)
Now, is it safe to leave xRecovery there? Or do I need to uninstall it?
If I need to, how? I performed a search but can't find anything about how to uninstall, only how to install..
I'm using xRecovery _E15i_installer.apk
Any help will be appreciated and thanked of course

I think the apk is somewhere in the system/apps folder aswell, but i don't know if it's save to remove it, neither if it'd be all gone by that aswell...

after flashing 2.1 from xrecovery try to install(repair) system from pc companion.(like you did when moving from 1.6 to 2.1) and phone will lose xrecovery and root too p.s and if about apk you can just remove it easily from terminal emulator

Both times I sent my X8 for repair, I first backed up my ROM and then reinstalled fresh stock with SEUS.

[Q] Nandroid backup before permaroot

Hi
My DHD is just temproot and as it say on modaco before permroot you should have a safety net
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-hd-desirehd-modaco-com/320722/19-nov-r14-visionary-one-click-root/
How do i create a backup of the ROM im using right now?
Also how do i use framework-res.apk from the SKins thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801928
I think that guide is referring to the need to have a copy of the relevant ruu for your device. I know I didn't do anything until this was safely stored on my hdd!
That's your safety net ... if all else fails you can then just flash the ruu and you're back to stock.
cant i just install ROM manager and backup the rom im using
can that be used as a safety net?
Yes I think so but I would always go the ruu root when restoring to stock.
I think nandroid performs a backup as part of the setup process actually, can't remember. No harm in having a backup AND the ruu though
im backing my ROM using ROM Manager and the Orange RUU is perfect for my device
Thanks for all your help.
HELP i installed ROM MANAGER i had Temproot no S OFF and i just installed CLOCkwork and clicked back up current rom, it rebooted got HTC scrren and now theres just a phone icon with a red triangle with exclamation mark.
Remove battery and reboot, what happens?
its working fine but no backup of the current ROM
Shall i just perm root?
ive got the RUU on my HDD
Sounds like you need to s-off your dhd then. I'd use the eng hboot method shown in the guide.
Wasn't sure if you could backup without, seems not.
Yeah I'd permroot also, for one extra click ;-)
should i just permroot? ive downloaded the RUU_Ace_Orange_UK_1.40.61.2_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_157531_signed.exe
on my HDD
Permrooted thanks
How do you change the framework that you get with the skins? Do I just replace it and reboot?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Haven't done anything with skins I'm afraid so can't answer that. I'm sure someone else will have dabbled and will have some advice though.

Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=766, here there are lots of threads on skins, themes etc and some include the framework walk through you need....
You need to flash your framework, but please...take a backup just in case

Stupid questions about SEUS and xRecovery

1. If I install a custom rom, I will be able to switch back if something go wrong, by using SEUS? In which cases SEUS will no longer work?
2. How does xRecovery install themes? just replace in safe mode the files he gets in the packages?
1.you can return with seus or Flashtool
2.Install custom theme by selecting install zip to path to where you place the theme
Thanks! Just played with my wife's iPhone and I almost bricked it. I care more about my X10i and wanted to know for sure.
you almost bricked it.. what stopped you!!!!!

Tried to remove the bloatware with titanium backup, but the apps is still there. Any suggestions?

z4root doesn't seem to work with new B137 firmwares on Android 2.2.2. (http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Huawei_Firmware_U8800)

I deleted them in the cust_backup folder using root explorer. I needed to set permissions to r/w in terminal
i think something is going on with z4root...
the thread is locked, i can't find the app on the market and when i download the attached file, my antivirus (Kaspersky) tells me that it contains a virus and deletes it.
any other app to root my X5?

Help! Recovery not loading...

I m on tripnmiui latest version n locked bl . I was thinking of trying a different rom but I just found out that my xrecovery isn't working. Pressing back several times or installing the dooms app did not help. I don't understand what has gone wrong. If any1 has an idea it'll be greatly appreciated.

Happened to me before on trips roms, and I was like"WTF!!!" who knows what he did to it when he changed xRecovery into his on TripNMIUI. Now he's gone for good. Never trusted his work.
You can try flashtool 0.2.91 GB ready and install xRecovery there. Connect your phone and ask Root permissions, grant access and install xRecovery.

X8 without a launcher ( help recover )

Hello everybody. It looks like someone gave me an almost dead phone; x8 without a launcher.
I don't know how he managed to delete it but when i power on the phone, it only shows the notification bar with signal and battery. everything else is just "gone".
So, how can I make it work again ? the phone is unrooted and the menu is inaccessible to me ...
Thanks in advance.
Alex

Have you tried to make a flashable zip with a launcher like launcher pro?
maybe there is no launcher app, if you install one via ADB Shell or Flashable ZIP you can maybe solve this
Phone is NOT rooted.... ur screwd. Rescue it by SEUS, but you will lose your apps and settings.

Here is the Official stock HomeLuncher
http://www.multiupload.com/MU4NJ52ZSA
install or move to /sistem/app and make the permisions
you can use X10FlashTool to install any launcher (not move it to system/app)
install any launcher and then install root explorer, use root explorer, copy the file to system/app, fix the permission like this:
V V
V
V
Don't want to root? Download Update Service from SE and install it. After that, open it and do the steps. Dont forget to backup your data!
Say thanks button if i helped you
I've had this problem one. Just follow the PC Companon instructions and you'll be fine, trust me!
Sign in your Google account.Enter market.Install any launcher.Wait for phone to receive and install.Press HOME on phone.Choose launcher.
how do you wan to add google account if you can't launch anything ?
I meant enter market through PC.
Does this phone have a custom recovery and ROM? If so just flash the recovery in fastboot from a PC and then use recovery to flash a rom.
Boot phone in to fastboot, plug it in to the computer, open command prompt(assuming you have SDK set-up) and navigate to the recovery.img path and type
fastboot flash recovery (name of recovery.img)
Then use the recovery to flash your ROM.
I did the same thing to my last phone. Factory data reset with no launcher in system. Find it hard to believe its not rooted.

Just download a Launcher .apk, and install it with "adb install 'Launchername'.apk
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
Install Luncher.apk or Flash it to stock with FlashTool
The Web market solution seems to be the simplest one. Install ADW or launcherpro though it.
